Phone won't recognize battery

My blackberry 8100 started sporadically not recognizing the battery (no battery symbol) a few months ago. I could get it to come back by taking the battery in and out, which after a while it would work again. This happened several times, but recently I could not get it to recognize the battery again like before. I got a new battery to see if that was the problem, but it does not seem to be a battery issue since it is still doing the same thing… It did come back for a short period of time with the new battery then just out of the blue it has gone out again and no matter how many times I take it in and out, it will not recognize the battery. Is there anything else I can try?

Oh dear, yes that makes a difference. RIM is working on releasing a MAC version of the full DTM package, but I'm not sure it's out yet...you can keep up with that here:
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/mac.jsp
What this leaves you with is only the OTA update method...
KB15633 Request a wireless BlackBerry Device Software update using a BlackBerry smartphone
BUT -- the wireless update method may not backup and restore your data...which would be tragic. If you can get the PocketMac software to work, it may do that for you pre-update (and restore after)...but I'm not at all conversant on MAC/BB integration. But, there is an entire section of this forum dedicated to that:

Good luck!

  • After updating to IOS 8, my phone won't recognize my TV.

After updating to IOS 8, my phone won't recognize my TV via AV cable.

Same problem here on four devices, two of which aren't even running iOS 7. App updates just disappear from the app store app and the app tells me all my apps are up to date when they aren't.
This problem fixed itself on the iPhone 4 this morning after I synced it with iTunes last night.  My iPad 3 is now listing app updates, but it stalls when I try to download them, so I'm updating via iTunes now.
I suspect this is a server problem on Apple's end (I noticed iTunes match isn't working this morning either....). Try syncing your phone with iTunes in the meantime or updating each app individually through the purchased app list (just click on it and you can update on a per app basis).

  • New Curve won't recognize battery :(

I just got a Curve 8520 in the mail. It didn't come with a battery or anything because it's a replacement. So, I take the battery (100% charge) out of my Pearl Flip, and put it in the Curve. The red LED goes on for a few seconds, then it shows a picture of a battery with a red slash through it. What's wrong? The number on the front of the battery is C-M2. It has a yellow label. What do i need to do to get my new phone to work? Also, my Desktop Manager (and PC) won't recognize it at all.
    Thanks for your help!!

  • Phone won't recognize any keys

I have the Blackberry Curve 8330 smart phone through Boost Mobile. I have only had it for at least 5 months and have had no real problems except for a few here and there. About less than a week ago though, my phone started to restart for no reason without me touching it. Today I was texting a friend and after I hit send on a message I put the phone on the desk beside me and when I looked at it again after a few minutes the phone was restarting again so I didn't worry about it and looked away. Again when I looked back the screen was black and I figured it was done restarting so I tried to hit the keys so I could text again and it wouldn't work so I didn't know what was wrong. I pulled out the battery since none of the buttons would work and again I looked away because it takes so long to start up. When I looked back it was the same story. I tried another battery I have and it was the same story yet again. Finally I tried to connect it to the computer since I thought maybe the battery might be going dead since they both were refurbished and when I did it went straight to the home screen which means it was on. I tried to hit all the keys and yet again it wouldn't work. All I can do is move the highlighter through the icons on the home screen, but I cant click them with the trackball. I searched online for help at this point and found on here a section that says about restarting the OS and thought that might help, so I followed the instructions as they appeared on here and it is still the same story, but now in the back of the phone there is a message that says about the Blackberry and it seems to be the user agreement message that pops up so when the OS is redone so I think it worked, but yet again the keys won't work. Then my alarm went off which I forgot was on, and it was keep going off and I couldn't stop it so I again restarted the phone and the alarm is keep going off every time I try.
Can anyone help me get my phone fixed? I don't have the money for another Blackberry and would like to keep using the Blackberry as it is a good phone. What can I do to fix it and would this be covered under the warranty? I do text on the phone a lot so could that be what caused it/ I don't think it would be from texting though because none of the buttons work, not just the keypad but also the mute button on top and buttons on the sides. Please help me.

It does sound like a hardware problem.  You should have a one year warranty on the device.  Contact your wireless service provider for assistance in getting it replaced.

  • Phone won't recognize SIM card anymore

About two months ago I bought the Blackberry Curve 3G from Amazon. I bought it unlocked so that when I go back home (I'm from Holland and I'm currently in the US for a year) I can take it with me and use my old sim card. The phone worked fine up until last week; the battery died and when I turned it on as it was charging, I got a message saying the sim card was not available. I turned the phone off again, unplugged it and opened it to see if the sim card was properly inserted. It looked fine so I turned the phone back on: same thing. I've been very careful with my phone, never dropped it, never got wet etc so that can't be it.
It's not the sim card because I tried to put in a different card and that didn't work either. When I tried those two cards in a different phone, they did work.
I contacted Amazon and the company that I bought it from; they told me to contact Blackberry. What can I do??

That can happen when you drop our phone or just some pieces inside the phone near the SIM card are loose. You can contact BlackBerry Customer Support Contact (toll free): 1-877-255-2377 Option #2 and they can help you with this situation but if it is unsuccessful you have to contact Amazon so they can replace your phone immediately..
    Hope it helps!

  • 2009 15" MacBook Pro won't recognize battery

A little history: I had an '09 MacBook Pro 13" and it was stolen from my hotel. Long story short, I was pretty much S.O.L. So, I decided to buy a new mac. After deciding against a new one ( I need the disk drive) I found a good one on eBay. Enter my 2009 15" MacBook Pro 3.06 Ghz/anti glare screen (very pleased with it).... EXCEPT, I can't charge it. Originially, there was a black "X" where the battery percentage is supposed to be. However, after resetting the SMC there is nothing where my percentage should be, no picture of a battery, no "X", just..nothing. So, I come here for the vast knowledge of you good people, hoping that yall may be of some assistance.

Well, I made the trip to the Apple store. After taking my mac behind closed doors for around 5 min, the "genius" came back and said my problem is the logic board, $310 fix. He also mentioned that when they send it in the technicians may or may not replace my logic board due to the fact that the previous owner has done some under the hood "tinkering". So, basically, I could be out $310 just for them to tell me they won't fix it
A few questions for the community:
Wouldn't I have other issues if my logic board was bad?
They didn't mention anything about my battery, could I ask apple to replace the battery to try that fix before assuming the previous owners tinkering wrecked the logic board?
Should I try to sell it and go for a new MBP?

  • New Macbook won't recognize battery

    It's a 3 month old black Macbook.
99.5% of the time, it refuses to start up from the battery and will only start up if the power cord is attached. The battery charges erratically. Sometime an amber light, sometimes not.
I did the reset thing, removing the battery, holding down the on button for 5 sec. and replacing the battery. Didn't help.
I talked to Apple Care in Manilla (YES! All the way from Colorado!) They comclude a new battery was in order. Shipped it Sat. Got here Mon. Installed battery and charged it up. Same response from the Macbook.
I talked to Apple Care yesterday. Ran disk utility as the tech. suggested. Verified the hard drive. Corrected disk corruption. Reinstalled Leopard with archiving and retained settings. Charged up the battery. Did the calibration routine as posted. Let it rest. Charged it back up to 99%. KLet it rest Meanwhile, the System Profile says I don't have a battery installed and I don't have anything charging.
Just ran disk utility again. Hard drive needs repair again.
Is all this stuff even remotely battery related, or did Apple simply send me a lemon?

i truly think apple mighta sent a lemon, i don't see how repairing the HD would have anything to do with making the computer attempt to recognize the battery? al though i could be wrong (which i am most times :))
Ugh, call applecare again because if you get the same thing with a replacement they GOTTA send you a new battery!

  • Phone won't recognize SD card

I have an 8GB SD card in my phone, and have been using it to store podcasts and music using the app "PodTrapper."
For no reason what so ever, when I woke up on Sat. it seems that podtrapper can’t communicate with me SD.  This happened last week, and I pushed so many buttons, I don’t know how I got it to work again.    This time, I took out the card, and in the process lost all the music, and still BB can’t find it.
I've already tried to change the directory,  However, the directory says it is in the SDCard/BlackBerry/podtrapper, but when I go to "change storage folder," only "store/" directory is found, not the SD card.
I don't think its a podtrapper issues, I have a feeling it's a BB issue, why can't my phone see my SD card?
Here are some of the other warnings I'm getting.
On the main screen in PodTrapper, it says “Downloading paused: Media card unavailable: Mass Media Storage Mode...”
On BB "memory" settings: Big exclamation mark with this message: “Media card is not available because Mass Storage Mode is currently in use.”
On BB screen: when I click on podtrapper: “PodTrapper can’t download or play when mass storage mode is enabled. “ When I click “Yes” to see more information it says in the general settings in BB, to find “Media card” and then “auto enable Mass Media Mode” and change to no –or prompt.
I can’t find a setting for “media card” but I found “Memory” which had the options discussed above with others.
But my BB desktop Manager (for Macs) when I go to sync my music, it says it can’t find the media card. And tells me that I have to have Mass Storage Mode turned on.
Any help would be apprecated. Thanks,

    Hello dharland,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
If it is showing you that the Media card is not available because Mass Storage Mode is currently in use that means that the BlackBerry smartphone is connected to a PC and Mass Storage Mode is in use. If this is shown when the device is not connected to the PC please take the battery out of the BlackBerry smartphone to restart it. After the BlackBerry smartphone boots up check to see if the media card is accessible again.
    Thank you

  • New phone won't recognize sim card

I just received a replacement for my motorola droid 4.  In the start up tutorial, first thing it says it take out sim card from old phone and put it in the new one.  I've done that but the screen stays on A SKM card is needed to operate this phone.  Please turn off your phone and insert your SIM card.  I have powered off and re inserted the SIM card several times but it continues to not recognize that the SIM card is installed.   HELP!!!

One of three things is going on here. Either the SIM is being inserted incorrectly into your replacement phone, the SIM itself needs to be replaced or the SIM slot on the replacement phone is faulty. It's possible that if you touched the gold contact on the side of the SIM card that it was corrupted and now isn't responding inside of your phone.

  • Powerbook G3 (bronze) won't recognize battery

    Hello all,
I recently purchased a replacement (main) battery for my Lombard (NewerTechnoloy), and even though it indicates a full charge when I press the button on the side, my Powerbook shows a red "X" through the battery icon.
I've tried the battery in both the left- and -right slots with similar results.
Can anyone suggest something for me to try?
I'm trying to understand whether this new battery is the problem -- my old battery was the original Apple manufacture, and will not hold any charge at all.
    --Bill

It could be a defective battery. You should contact NewerTech & get a replacement.
     Cheers, Tom

1.I got a new battery and MagnaSafe power adaptor.
2.I tried the SMC reset I was told to reset the PRAM but I'm really sketchy about doing that sort of thing and I'm not exactl sure how the PRAM reset would relate.
    My conclusion.....Hardware malfunction?
I see no symptoms that it could be the logic board, so I'm guessing it's the internal connector from the batery to the logic board. I installed snow Leopard, have the latest firmware updates.
    Anybody?

I love how common this problem is and Apple completely avoids it. I'm in the same boat.

I have a blackberry curve 8310 and it has not been used for a little while.  I just recently decided that I wanted to use it again however when I plugged it in i am getting a symbol of a battery with a red slash through it??? Did you do it as I described? For a deeply drained battery, one day may not be enough.

    Yes.

Perhaps a new battery. BUT, if the device and the battery is completely drained, you'll likely see the same "no battery" symbol yet again and need to repeat this process. I have.
