Phone works fine but iTunes keeps asking me to set up or restore it

Hi, I have a 4S and iTunes has stopped allowing me to manage it following a failed wireless sync. Now whenever I plug it in to my Mac Mini it shows me the screen which gives you the options of either setting it up or restoring it from a backup. I have restored it from both the last backup and the previous backup and after the restore process the phone works fine still, but when I plug it back into the Mac, iTunes just shows me the same "setup or restore" screen. So now I'm unable to manage my videos, podcasts and music. I can still use my phone, I just can't get iTunes to do anything with it.
NB my phone wasn't and never has been jailbroken, and is running IOS 5.0.1. The Mac Mini is running OSX 10.6.8 and the latest version of iTunes at the time of writing. Any suggestions and advice most gratefully received.

    If you don't have a balance the option for none should show up. If it does not or it gives you the message that there was billing issue with a previous purchase you will have to satisify the balance with either a credit or debit card attached to a bank account. Certain prepaid cards will not work if not attached to bank account with routing number.

    It sounds as if your graphics chip (on the logic board) is failing.  The other answer could be that your screen is not well, but I lean more towards the graphics chip.  If you have Apple care or are still under warranty, call Apple.

    Ever find a real solution to this? I just posted something similar - been having the issues ever since I started using the mac.
    I have 5 mac accounts: 2 of those are admins.
    After I installed every program I may possibly want, I redid all my user accounts (as I had been having a lot of permissions issues before that). My (admin) account downloads fine. Another admin account, set up exactly as mine, periodically gets prompted that it doesn't have the right to download.
    To avoid duplication, I have a /common/music directory for all itunes accounts music. We have to periodically do a recursive permissions deal on the 2nd admin account so it can put music there, even though that directory is read/write for everyone. Apple's never been able to help me on this...

    It happened to me but later I figured out that cellular signal was not that great and so the Internet was very slow. It took me about 2 minutes to get the full resolution picuture on either of the app you've described. Try to get faster internet either by wifi or good signal and then check.

    Is it possible to backtrack your way out of the keychain?
    Yes:
    Run the Keychain Access utility found in \Applications\Utilities
    In the category column (on the left side of the utilities' window), select "All Items."
    In the right column look for your Network Name. It will have a "Kind" of "AirPort network password."
    Delete every entry that has both your Network Name with this Kind.
    What can I do to test or reset?
    You can completely erase all the base station's passwords by performing either a "hard" or "factory default" reset. You can also temporarily disable these passwords for up to five minutes so that you will have enough time to change them using the AirPort Utility, by just performing a "soft" reset. I would recommend this one first.
    This would also be a good time to consider using WPA or WPA2, instead of WEP, as WEP is no longer considered secure.
    I got the airport extreme based used with no softward and set up with reset on airport base and followed instructions.
    You can download a copy of the AirPort Utility, that runs on OS X Tiger here.

  • Ethernet works fine but WiFi keeps droping after 20-30 minutes

    So I have a hp EliteBook 8560w for a couple of years now. I have never had any problem with it and it worked perfect the entire time, but for about 2 or 3 weeks now i have this problem that's irritating. I can work on it fine for about 20-30 minutes to at most an hour but after that the WiFI icon shows the typical yellow triangle on in that is usually shown for limited access but when i open the window that has the list of all the networks you can connect to, it shows that im normally connected to the one im usually on, but everything that need internet to function like loading pages, skype and so on shows that i have no internet connection. when i troubleshoot the problem it says that it cant find and problem with the connection.
    i have tried almost everything i cant think of. i have Uninstalled and installed new network drivers twice , i have uncheck the boxes that say that power saver can power down the network devices, i have reinstalled almost every driver i have...im stumped and i dont know what to do to solve this problem.
    i know that the problem is only with the WiFI connection on my hp because i have other laptops that connect to the WiFI with no problem and no droping and i have tried connecting to other networks and still the problem keeps poping up.
    i can connect to the router directly with a cable and the internet dosent drop.
    i have no idea anymore and i just need help with it...

    You can still install the anyconnect diagnostic tool DART and then check for the errors on the logs.

  • Why do I see: iTunes Help is unavailable because your computer isn't connected to the Internet.  IE9 works fine but iTunes does not connect to the store.

    I have tried 4 days to get iTunes 10.4 working on my Win7 x64 machine.  I purchased a new iPhone4 and after syncing it the first time, I can't connect to the iTunes store.
    When I try to run iTunes Help, I get this message "iTunes Help is unavailable because your computer isn’t connected to the Internet."  However IE9 and Google Chrome run as always...... no connection problems.
    I have already uninstalled IE9 x64 and iTunes 10.4 x64 and reinstalled but still the same.  I followed all the instructions I could find about firewalls, ports, SSL etc.

    It "sounds" like you have encrypted backup selected in iTunes.  Without the password, you will not be able to restore an encrypted backup.

    Our computer got a virus and we had to run recovery. We backed up our music and then reinstalled iTunes. Now whenever we try to play any of our purchased music iTunes says that the computer isn't authorized, so we authorize it. Then it says that it's been successfully authorized, but when we try to play a song it again says the computer isn't authorized and we try again. What do we do?

    The only other 2 things to try are
    1. download a free single of the week and try to play it
    2. get rid of this SC info folder. The entire folder, not just the file.
