Photo adding

i want to add extra photos to ones already on my ipod but it makes me remove all the ones on there and then add them all again plus the new ones which seems ridiculous, there must be a solution.cheers

Is this a capacity issue? Are you trying to fill the iPod with too many photos once the music is loaded.
In the add photos option it will either auto fill in the order the photos are in the library and stop when the drive is full or if you have selected fill from selected folders and you have shuffled the order of the folders that will cause it to behave this way.
Finally, are you also asking for full resolution photos?

  • TS3989 Photos are ok in aperture and iphoto but in photostream on ipad and iphone the top of all portrait photos is chopped off. I tried switching photostream off and on but got the same. Only happened with photos added today, all past photos are fine

I have never had any problems before but all portrait photos added today have the top chopped off. For example , people's heads are missing or roofs or buildings are chopped off. Photos are fine on the camera and on my mac in iphoto and aperture. Switched off photostream on my ipad...all photos were deleted. Switched photostream back on and all photos uploaded again and portrait photos are cropped again

It sounds like while trying to import the photos with insufficient disk space those image files were damaged and not copied fully.  Now that you have sufficient space (a minimum of 10 GB is recommended) the latest imports are good.
What do you get if you export one of the problem photos out of iPhoto as Kind=Original and try to open it with Preview.  If it appears the same then there's nothing you can to do recover them.

  • Web sites won't recognize photos added to iPhoto since migrating data

So, I'm stymied. I haven't seen a solution or question already asked that is precisely like my problem, so I thought I'd just ask it myself.
A couple months ago, I did something to bork up the permissions in Lion - if I could be more specific I would. The solution as it eventually dawned on me and the actually really helpful guy at the Genius Bar, after trying literally everything possible besides wiping, was to just wipe the HDD and start over. So that's what I did. I used Time Machine to back up everything so that I could just import the data into the new programs, without simply copying everything over including preferences using Migration Assistant. Lo and behold, it fixed all my permissions problems. But now I have a new problem.
Whenever I want to upload photos to a website, such as Flickr (or any other - I've tried many of them), photos added to my iPhoto '09 library after that migration happened do not appear in the Media browser window. Everything before the migration is there, but nothing after. This is not the case for pictures taken in Photo Booth, interestingly enough.
I've verified and repaired disk permissions, I've cleaned out all the iPhoto plist files, both in Library/Caches and Library/App Support. I've opt+cmd started iPhoto and 1) rebuilt all thumbnails, and 2) examined and repaired iPhoto permissions. I've cleared out all the caches on all my browsers. Nothing has worked. I imagine upgrading to iPhoto '11 may help, but I'm not sure. I'm willing to give that a shot if it's the last option.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Can't get new photos added to existing iPhoto albums to sync with iPhone

I tried talking about this in the iTunes area, but there was no response:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20660036#20660036
I thought I'd drop by the iPhone discussion area next.
The problem in a nutshell is that I can't get new photos added to iPhoto albums to sync with my iPhone 5. I can even unselect the albums, sync, see the albums deleted on the iPhone, select the albums again, sync, see the albums recreated - but the recreated albums don't include the photos I added yesterday.
I don't know if this is an iTunes 11 bug, an iPhoto bug or an iPhone bug.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    doug

Yes, but which album will be empty?
Anyway, as soon as I saw how creating albums locally on the iPhone actually worked I said to myself, "This is not reasonable" and as much as I dislike iPhoto decided to keep doing it there until that feature is improved.
It seems like an obvious thing to improve. Then the albums can sync between the iPhone, iPhoto and other iOS devices more like "it just works" (which it doesn't do now).

  • How can I remove photos added to my iPad from my PC and laptop?

How can I remove or edit photos added to my iPad from my PC and laptop?  New iPad.   Thanks!

You use the same process that you used to get the photos on the iPad to begin with. Photos that were synced from your computer using iTunes can only be deleted by de-selecting them from the folder from where they were synced -  and then re-syncing.
So that means that you have to connect your iPd to your computer, launch iTunes, select your iPad under the devices heading in the sidebar, click on the Photos Tab on the right and then uncheck the folder of photos that you synced to the iPad and then click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.
If you want to remove all of the photos, uncheck the Sync Photos From Heading and then click on Apply.

  • Photos added to icloud drive from my imac do not sync to my iphone

Hello and thank you in advance for any help you may be able to give.  The following three paragraphs are a detailed description, as is the last paragraph, which is just a summary. The rest is a rant, because I have become a very frustrated consumer with a company whose products I once revered.  Anyway...
iHave imported photos from my old Powermac to my new iMac and added them to iPhoto and iCloud.  iHave enabled iCloud on my iPhone and iMac and within my iPhone have enabled iCloud storage in the photos app.  iHave enabled wifi syncing between devices and also have bluetooth turned on.
iHave connected my iPhone to the iMac and synced it after each step of adding photos from my iMac hard drive to iPhoto to iCloud drive.
The photos do not show up in my iPhone's photos as they are supposed to according to how iCloud shares authorized data across enabled devices.  The iPhone photo app, which uses the iCloud photo library (and iRealize it's in Beta testing so...maybe that's part of the issue) doesn't have the photos iAdded from my iMac to the iCloud drive via iPhoto.  However, they DO show up in the iCloud as Other Documents (via: Settings>iCloud>Storage>Manage Storage>Documents & Data>Other Documents), but they are only listed and are not accessible.
Basically iHave spent many many many hours and dollars investing in an Apple system which iHave been dreaming about since my original 800mHz "sunflower" iMac became obsolete.  iContinued to believe that Apple had refined and dialed their sharing simplicity as the years progressed. I was so very excited when iPurchased my iMac and upgraded from my Galaxy S5 to the iPhone 6 plus (which poor forecasting on Apple's part made it a six week fiasco to obtain).  I was ready to take advantage of the "across device syncing" simplicity that Apple had promised with iCloud.  iHave given almost 6 weeks to a learning curve that should probably only have taken 6 days, and iAm very disappointed in the clunky, unintuitive, rigidity that this system has shown but which iAm now committed to has The fact is that the transition has been anything but simple and iHave begun to feel very frustrated with what is seeming like a half-beta-baked iDea.  Why is there not a simple drag-and-drop type function for something as simple as as adding photos from my computer to my phone?
Instructions on the apple care site for specific App iCloud storage management seems to have been written and published BEFORE the final iterations of the iOS 8 were released because the slight difference in the instruction process flow and the actual process flow is enough to make the instructions effectively inaccurate.
So, apologies for the rant.  Summary:  iWant to add photos from my iMac, running Yosemite, to my iPhone, running iOS8, via iCloud, but it's not working.  And I have iCloud enabled across all devices (computer and phone)and apps

Looks like this has been solved by yesterdays IOS8 update - thanks!

  • Is there a limit to the number of photos added to iMovie?

I am trying to add more photo stills to a project but iMovie will not add more than the 495 I have in there. I know it is an enormous amount of still photos but in they are short in duration and I'd like to add about 130 more to complete this project. Any photos past this mark are simply being rejected/not added by the program no matter how many times I try to drag them over even one at a time. Is there a limit? Can I overcome this some how?

I would recommend that you put the photos that you need in order in an iPhoto album.
326 should be no problem. I have done that many or more.
To drag them into iMovie, open the Photo Browser in iMovie and look for the album. There should be an icon for the album. Drag the icon for the album into your iMovie Project. (rather than dragging the photos one at a time).
Since you are having sluggish behavior, I would recommend that you shut down iMovie, restart your Mac, and start over with a new project, unless you have too much work invested, in which case, try the old project first.
Here is a sample of a project where I dragged about 300 photos into a project from an iPhoto album.

  • Photos added to multiple folders without my choice

    Hi,
I am having trouble with the folder structure within iPhoto (11--9.3).  In the Albums, I have several folders of albums, e.g. vacation photos in albums within a "Travel" folder, photos from different family members in albums within a Family folder, etc. In other words, it is
    ALBUMS
    >folder.1
       *album.1.1
        *album.1.2
    >folder.2
       >folder.2.a
          *album.2.a.1
           *album.2.a.2
       >folder.2.b
Seems sensible, and I've used this for a while now. Things got weird, though:
    - Now when I try to add a new folder to the list, it automatically gets added to it all photos from the Event I have selected, regardless of whether I am actually in the Event or whether I have any photos selected.
    - Problematically, those same photos get added to ALL folders in my Albums list. More precisely, they get added to the each of the upper-level folders, not to any of the the albums or ANY of the subfolders. That is, in the above example, they show up when I view folder.1 but not album.1.1 or album.1.2, and also in folder.2 but not folder.2.a or folder.2.b. or any of those albums.
    - I can't find any way to remove those photos from the folders. I can select them and choose Cut, but they don't go away. There is no "remove from folder" command, and since they're not in albums, I am not given the "remove from album" option.
    - Even more oddly, if I then select a different event and make a NEW folder, the photos from this different event are now the ones that show up erroneously in not just that newly created folder, but ALL the folders. The previous, improper photos are no longer included; they're apparently replaced by the new, improper ones.
Any clues about this? Anything to try?
Other potentially pertinent info: I've got ~6,000 photos, 80 events. I tried a similar thing after making a new library and restarting iPhoto, and the behavior is not repeated in that library. Restarting with the original library brought back the same behavior.
    Thanks.

  • Delete photos added from iphoto

i added some photos to tag with contacts. that done i do not need them any longer
yesterday i was able to dlete them.
now i can not..either i am missing something or things changed suddenly. any advise...also sometimes the caps lock stays for several words then most of the time not! any ideas on this issue??
    thanks in advance
    BTW...this is one great device
nothing is ever perfect especially going thru as many people and places as it has to get thru the birth canal...just awesome, by me!!

Yes, you could do that. However a more convenient way, at least for viewing and getting them back into iPhoto for printing or whatever, would be to burn, using the Burn button in iPhoto, a number of selected rolls to DVD. This creates an iPhoto organized disk that can be mounted in iPhoto. It will appear directly under the main Library icon in the Source window. It then can be expanded and the rolls will be viewable in iPhoto. If you need one or more of them just select them and drag onto the main Library icon. They will be imported back into iPhoto for printing or whatever use. Your keywords and comments will also be preserved.
If you do that and select a number of rolls in iPhoto to burn, the size that's reported at the bottom of the Source window will be smaller than what will be burned. The iPhoto reported size is just of the photos selected. What gets burned are the thumbnails, originals of any edited and the database files. So if iPhoto reports 4.3G to burn, you probably won't be able to burn that to a DVD. You can also use CDs if you'd like. Just make sure the size reported by iPhoto less than the disk capacity to account for the overhead.

  • I can't see recent photos added to iphoto in screensaver options!

I am trying to update my system preferences, in particular my screensaver.
I have the screensaver option on 'shuffle' so that I can choose a various selection of albums I want to show on my screensaver.
However, the most recent album added to iphoto (a couple of weeks ago) is not showing when I select "Options...".
I have tried to quit/reload and also restart my mac.  I am not highly technical so do not know what else to do to make it show.
I have had a look around iphoto preferences, but nothing jumps out at me as being relevant.
    Help is much appreciated!

I had import the photos from NikonD3100 with Iphoto; after finishing, appears a message "photos have been imported ok"or something similar. But the events created are empty, there are no photos inside. Then, I thought that the problem was in the import, but I looked for the photos in the Iphoto Library with the finder, and the files were ther. I think that the problem colud be related with the .raw extension file (but I have all updated...)
Thank you for your help from Spain

  • IMovie '11 Project - What is happening to my photos added?

I've got a project 75% completed in iMovie.  All videos added, and photos were being added with no problem.  Now when I try to add a photo, as I highlight it and drag to the project, anywhere in the project, a photo I deleted comes up instead of the photo I'm trying to copy.  It shows up with a grey bar in front of it, in the middle of it, and at the end of it.  Always the same old deleted photo, never the one I'm trying to copy.  Tried insert a photo in different spots, different photos, and deleted the entire clip but it still keeps happening.  I'm sure I've done something, just don't know what it is to be able to undo it!  When I hit the space bar to preview in the viewer, the old deleted photo that is showing in the clip doesn't even show up in the viewer.  ***?

  • When adding a keyword to a photo, if there's a parent keyword, why isn't photo added to that??

I have a keyword setup that includes this kind of hierarchy:
    iOS Apps
        Color Splash
        Waterlogue
        Instagram
    My question is:
If I tag a photo with "instagram," for example, I would think that "iOS Apps" would automatically be added to it ... but that's not the case ...???

Remember: for all most practical purposes, your photos have the iOS parent keyword and the child keyword, even though parent keyword is not checked in the Keyword List pane.
    Do this experiment:
    * Choose a photo and assign ( iOS > ) Instagram keyword (just the child).
Go to library module and filter for all photos with iOS keyword - voila - there's your photo (right?).

The bottom line: all most of the advantages (correct me if I'm wrong) with none of the disadvantages.
PS - after receiving feature request(s) to remove explicit parental assignments, I added the feature to do so to Keyword Consolidator plugin. That feature is used by people who started out doing parental assignments, then realized implicit assignment was preferred. So far, I have NOT had a feature request to add explicit parental assignments. So I kick the burden back to you - if you can explain why implicit parental assignment is inferior for you, then I'll add a feature to Keyword Consolidator to add explicit parental assignments automatically - it would be very easy to do.

  • Photo added to contact disappearing? (but just from contact)

    Hello,
I am trying to get a photo to be 'added' to a contact. I select 'add contact' from the edit contact screen, and all looks fine. However, after a while the photo disappears and at no point will it show when a call is recieved.
    Any ideas?
I'm using a pc, although I haven't done anything with it regarding the contacts and itunes so I'm not sure if that's relevant.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

Hmmm... not sure about PC but I did have this same problem while syncing to my MAC... the cause was that my contacts sync was conflicting with other sync data... Once I changed settings for Mobile Me with contacts and address book it was resolved...
For PC... my only guess would be that a program that is told to sync contacts doesn't allow or is conflicting with the assigned photo you've set on iPhone...

I upgraded iTunes and also added photos to some of my most used Contacts. Now when I try to send an email to that Contact through my Outlook, the Contact is not listed. If you haven't already done so, create your album in iPhoto, add any other pictures to it and then drag this album from the media window onto the Albums template in iWeb.
