Hey everyone...Ok, I've read thru some of these threads, but alas, being a guppie with my new iTouch, I'm confused! Everytime I sync a photo file folder to my iTouch from my laptop, it overwrites the last set of photos. How do I add another album to my iTouch? I so lost...thanks for any help!! Much appreciated!!

You create folders in the folder you sync the folder to so lets say I sync my pictures to a folder called iPod pictures. I open that folder and make a new folder. That new folder will be considered an album

Disregard the question. The solution has nothing to do with any "Firefox bug". Turns out that my session wasn't being managed properly. Or rather, I was accidentally deleting other users' information when new users logged in. So if I had user 1 and user 2, and user 2 logged in after user 1, some of user 1's information would be deleted, resulting in the errors.
Oops; sorry about the false alarm. :)

How can I share my a public calendar from iCal (through iCloud) with Outlook for Windows users?

I have a public work calendar that I wish to share with colleagues in the office. No issues for those having a Mac or an iPhone, but how can I share the calendar with Outlook for Windows users?

The steps detailed below explain how to go about publicly share a calendar (which doesn't require that one be an iCloud user to accept).
Click the Share button to the right of the calendar you want to share, then select Public Calendar.
Note: You can also share the same calendar privately. For instructions, see the previous task, “Share a calendar privately.”
To invite people to view the calendar, click Email Link.
Type one or more email addresses in the To field, then click Send.
The people you specify automatically receive an invitation email that includes the calendar’s URL. An invitee doesn’t need to be an iCloud user to accept an invitation to view a shared public calendar.
In the sidebar, a shared calendar has a dark Share button.
You can also resend invitations to one or more invited participants at any time.

I have separate photo albums for different activities (Christmas, Rome vacation, etc. Is there a way to temporarily freeze the albums so misc. photos don't accidentally get added to that album..

I have separate photo albums for different activities (Christmas, Rome vacation, etc.) and drag respective photos in appropriate albums. As time passes, I find that I pictures from other albums accidentally added to the various albums. Is there a way to lock the album when I am done so changes can be made but only if I intentionally mean to do so?

I spent hours building a photo album for my parents only to find out that because my mac is earlier than 2007, even though I have 10.6.8, I can no longer order?! What is with that? This makes no sense. I can go online to various "photo shop" place and regardless of the OS and computer I am working from I can order a photo album so why can I no longer do this through iPhoto on my MAC?
How do I order my album now? If somebody could please explain as I am going home in 1 month and really wanted to surprise my aging parents with this book.

Let's try a repair install of iTunes.
Restart the PC first.
If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair".
If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", and click "Change". Select "Repair" and click "Next" as per the following screenshot:

Help with PDF formsmaking them work for Windows users

I'm using a new user of Acrobat 8.0.0 and having a helluva time figuring out how to make PDF forms that work for Windows users.
I can make the forms okay and Mac users can fill them out (using either Preview or Reader), and I get them emailed to me just fine. But all of the PC users that I send them to tell me that they "can't save them."
Here's a test PDF I've created (with just a few plain fields in it):

Worked on my Firefox browser PDF plug-in running XP on my MBP. Opened the completed form in Adobe Reader 9 Windows and all looked fine. Just a note on your fields; date field not properly formatted and once filled, it has the same name as the NAME field. Just make sure our fields are named separately.

If you have iWork applications (Pages, Numbers, Keynote), they can export documents / spreadsheets / presentations in formats compatible with Microsoft Office.
Otherwise, you can purchase Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 or Microsoft Office 365 (or Pages and Numbers and Keynote) for your Mac.

Copying iPhoto CD for Windows users

I want to share an iPhoto album with Windows users. Copying the album onto a CD via the finder results in a readable file. When I try to make a copy of this CD using DU and disk image the resulting CD is not recognised by Windows machines (although still readable on my iMac). Am I being stupid, or what?

Thanks, but my problem (possibly one not specifically related to iPhoto) is not in generating a Windows-readable disk but is that if I use DU and disk image to copy the readable CD that I made, the copy isn't recognised by Windows.

I have an idea for a firmware update that would go a Long way towards making this product mildly Viable for windows users. It has Many issues from the windows side of things - but one feature addition could make all that tolerable.

Cisco Jabber for Windows User Photos

I noticed that the Cisco Jabber for Windows Client does not automatically update with the photos that updated in Active Directory.
I had updated a user's photo in AD and noticed that it would not change. I browsed to "C:\Users\<user name>\App Data\Local\Cisco\Unified Communications\Jabber\CSF\Photos" and had to manually delete the user photos in this folder. I exited out of the Jabber Client and restarted the program. When I did this, the Jabber Client crashed, I saved the crash report, and re-opend the Jabber client. This time the client opened properly, and the updated photos were now appearing!
Seems like Cisco would not have set the photos to Cache to the local computer....
Any thoughts?

How can I make a photo cd that is compatible for windows users?

I need to make a photo cd from my iphoto library that will be compatible with Windows computers. In my older iphoto program on my iBook G4 that was not a problem. In iphoto '11, I get a message saying I need to follow some other instructions for cds for windows. I'm having trouble with the alternative. I must be missing something. Is there a simple explanation? Or will this always be a chore with the new program?

Select the photos in iPhoto, export them to a desktop folder - see the user tip on exporting for details on the export options - and using the finder burn that folder to Disk

Best way to burn photo cd for PC user?

I want to share some pictures with a PC user. The last photos burned to a cd for a PC user was littered with the UNIX files .ds and .ds_store etc. It confused the PC user mightily.
Is there a best practice for burning photos to disc for PC users to keep it free of OS litter?

The displayed sort order of files is determined by the settings in the operating system that is displaying the contents of the folder (or directory). The user controls those settings when the folder contents are displayed, not iPhoto during the export.
One consideration that is important though... If you export images from iPhoto to a folder by dragging the images from the iPhoto Window, the original file creation dates will be retained (the image files are copied), but if the images are exported via the iPhoto "Export..." dialog, the exported image files will end up with the current date and time.
