Photo albums: How to show thumbnails or no thumbnails?

Photo Albums: Some of my albums show the thumbnails (on top of the individual photos) by default, others do not. How do I set the defaults? I want no thumbnails btw...

in your photos page, in photo grid view:
1) double click on a thumbnail to get to detail view.
2) you see this
in detail view, click on the thumbnail strip indicator to collapse the strip.
that's it.

It's just simple as creating an event/album in the iPhoto, with the photos you would like to have in your iPhone.
Then, on iTunes you chose to synchronise with the iPhone that specific photo event/albun, instead of all the library.
And that's it!

You can't create new albums on the device; you have to do that on the desktop and sync the new albums

Making new photo albums and slide shows

Is there a way to make new photo albums or slides shows on the iPad? I wish to organize photos and create slide shows while I am on the road, away from my sync computer.

The only way you could do this would be to first delete all photos in your Saved Photos album and then add the ones you want to use in your slide show one at a time (each photo you add is placed after the one previously added). Currently, by using the iPad alone with no third party apps, the only way to add photos to the Saved Photos album is either from Safari (touch and hold an image until the "Save image" dialogue comes up) or from email. On the iPhone originally, this was where photos you took with the camera went. Without the camera, it's left a bit stranded on the iPad.
The other "Photo Library" album is changeable only through an iTunes sync. If you put all the photos you want to use in your slideshows there, you could email them to yourself and then put them in the Saved Photos album one at a time. But that's awfully tedious and you can only have one Saved Photos album available at a time, so you'd have to do that with every slideshow you wanted. Not much use, I admit.
Until Apple improves the photo app on the iPad, it's not at all a versatile or very useful thing.

It isn't possible to create albums on or with the iPhone.
You can create photo albums on your computer by creating and naming a folder, and then place the designated photos on your computer within the folder.
Create a primary/parent folder that will contain only folders than contain photos.
Select this parent folder under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences and then sync.
If you haven't already done so, you need to transfer all photos captured by your iPhone to your computer and then delete the captured photos from your iPhone after being successfully transferred to your computer. If you want any of these photos available on your iPhone for viewing, you can place the photos in a folder or folders that are transferred from your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync/transfer process.

IPhone Photo Album - How To...

Hi guys,
In iPhoto I can see the name of the pictures and search them by name.
But in the iPhone photo album I cannot see the name of the pictures.
Any way to see them?
I need to see pictures by name as I'm creating different picture folders for plants I use in my business.

Accidentally deleted my photo album - how can I get it back?

I accidentally deleted my photo album in iPhoto. Now it's gone.
I have a backup on an external HD.
But when I start time machine and go back to the last backup, I can only find all the photos, but not the albums. Can please anyone help? Thanks

Since the albums are just pointers to the images and some extra information, they don't really exist separately, but are stored in the database.
The best plan is to restore the whole library from the backup and re-import any added pictures.
(Congratulations on having a backup!)
You could use time machine to create a *duplicate* library, remove everything from the duplicate except the photo book and the images it contains and then use the third party iPhoto Library Manage go merge the duplicate back with the original, but that sounds like too much work for me. 8^)

How to show thumbnails of an event on the same screen?

In the iPhoto tutorial, it shows that when you start in the All Events screen and you double-click on the Event you want to open, what you get is a screen full of thumbnails from that Event. But when I double-click on the Event I want, it just brings me to an enlarged version of that single image, and I have to use left and right arrows to get to other images in that Event. I even went to iPhoto-Preferences-Events and under the option for "Double-click Event" I chose "Shows Event photos" but still all I get is the single image. So, how do I get all the thumbnails of one Event like in the tutorial? Thanks. Franklin

Look to the lower right hand corner of our iPhoto window - the right hand side of the toolbar - the slider there is all the way to the right - move it toward the left until the desired number of thumbnails show.

Synced photo albums do not show up on ipad until rebooted - latest OS

Very annoying. Latest iTunes and iOS on iPad. Windows 8 PC OS. Sync works terribly. Videos don;t sync. Photos sync, but new albums show up only after I reboot. iTunes is not accurate about space used and space remainign. What's the deal- this is such a mess and every update seems to make it worse.

Yes, you can upload directly to FB from Photos but you can only post to your own wall. I want to select pictures from FB so I can post to a group. It's not just FB. Any time I look for that album to attach a picture, the album is not there. If I compose an email and want to attach a photo from that new album, the album is not there to choose from.

Windows can do this, so I'm sure Mac must be able to ....
When I am viewing a list of jpegs in the finder, how can I see thumbnail versions of the images? Currently, all that's displayed is the jpeg icon.

If you have files that don't show a thumbnail icon, it may be that whatever program created the files didn't create a thumbnail image.
You can add the preview image quite easily using a program like
QuickImage (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19253)

Photos taken with the phone are not stored in the camera roll anymore, Apple found a new way to sort your photos.
By default, Photos displays a representative subset of your photos when you view by year or by collection. To see all your photos, go to Settings > Photos & Camera, then turn off Summarize Photos.
View by location. While viewing by year or by collection, tap . Photos and videos that include location information appear on a map, showing where they were taken.
While viewing a photo or video, tap to show and hide the controls. Swipe left or right to go forward or backward.
Search photos. From Albums or Photos, tap to search by date (month and year), or place (city and state). Search also keeps your Recent Searches on hand and gives you a list of suggested searches.

Ipod photo section doesn't show thumbnail images

Once I have downloaded my photos onto the ipod, only the first 7 images or so show up. The rest are there, and appear as blank boxes, even when I scroll through them. I am later able to see them on my computer once they've been downloaded but why can't I see them on the ipod?

Update:
I called a friend who came over with an iPod Mini and an iBook.
Connecting the iPod Photo to the iBook was no problem and it mounted within seconds...
Connecting the iPod Mini to the iBook wasn't a problem either.
But... none of the iPods connected to the iMac...
neither after several resets and reboots nor after exchanging fw cables.
I also ran the hardware test which didn't show any problems.
Can anyone help me, pleeeease :-[
