Photo Albums Vs. Folders

Hi, since I use Lightroom and not iphoto I created a folder on my desktop to sync my photos. They load fine but seems like there is an extra folder on my touch called "Photo Library" which shows the content of all of my subfolders? Does this take more room on the iPod is there a way to get rid of it or is this just a different folder that the ipod needs to have on there? thanks.

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums
The tv can use events as well as albums, although this doesn't resolve the OP's issue, which is simply one of a large number of photo albums. I have a lot of photo albums (without checking, I think I have around 250) and scrolling through them can be challenging.
What I do is to keep albums organised into groups such as 'Holidays', 'Weddings' etc and introduce a specific character at the start of the album title, which indicates which group the album belongs to.
For example ' ☼ Marmaris 2008 ' or ' ♡ Mark and Jasmine's Wedding 1969 '
It doesn't reduce the long list of albums on the tv, but it does help to keep themed albums together in the list and so makes finding the specific album you are looking for much easier.

  • Access OneDrive photo albums, not folders of type "pictures"

    Hi,
is there a way to access the photo albums I created in OneDrive through the API? I am referring to the newly introduced Albums under Photos > Albums and not the folders of type "Pictures" that I can get by calling /me/albums. The latter one
only returns folders like "SkyDrive camera roll", "Pictures", "Videos" and the like, but I want the albums I created, like "Madrid 2015" and so on, which are not folders in OneDrive.
    Thanks,
    Sebastian

Unfortunately, there isn't a query that will return the folders that you've created.  However, the new OneDrive API returns the "createdBy" value which you can use to display only the folders that was created by your application.
There are also app folders (http://onedrive.github.io/misc/appfolder.htm) which is a dedicated folder for your app.

  • Why is it that my photo album's folders do not appear on my iPhone?

I have a folder with several albums on it, but in my iPhone there's just the albums. In itunes you can create a folder of several playlists and have it exactly the same on your iPod, but i havent find a way to do this whit my photos. If you can help me let me know!

You can use the Feedback form - set the "Feedback Type" pop-up to "Feature Request":

  • Photo Albums - Photo Library

Is there any way to get rid of Photo Library Photo Album, it seems to only contain a composite of my other albums

You can't rid rid of the Photo Library on an iPhone. This is where all photos are stored that are transferred from your computer to your iPhone - regardless how many photo albums or folders that contain photos are transferred to your iPhone.
Copied from my previous post in this thread.
+The Photo Library is not an album. This is where all photos are stored that are transferred from your computer.+
+When viewing photos in an album on the iPhone, the album contains a pointer to the original located in the Photo Library and is not duplicated.+
+This way you can view photos available in a selected album only, or all photos available in all albums by selecting Photo Library. Just like an iTunes playlist and the main iTunes library.+
    +You can't get rid of this.+

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

  • I am no longer able to sync multiple photo albums/folders on my iphone. I use to be able to sync many folders and now itunes only gives the option of 1 folder. How do I get back to the multiple folder option?

first time to the discussion forum. Like I stated in the title, I use to be able to have all my photo albums sync to my iphone. I did something and now it only allows me to "sync photos from..." and it only allows me to chose from 1 of my folders and not pick multiple folders from my photo library. does anyone know how to get back to the multiple folder option? I'm sure its simple since I changed this so easily when trying to add a single folder to my library.

Firefox now always stores the old session, and you can access it by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session"
If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
    # Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''
If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
    # Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
    # Go to the General panel
    # Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • Photo library albums and folders taking up more space

If you create albums and folders on photo library it appears to duplicate the pictures and take up more space.  Is there any way to avoid this since you can't group pictures otherwise?

Change your import settings to 128 AAC (assuming that's what you want - I'd choose MP3s, personally, since they will work in other programs and portable devices).
The previous default is AAC encode, High Quality (128kbps)
Then you can just right-click on selections and choose "Create AAC version". It will say "Create MP3 version" if you decide to use thoe import settings.
Of course you already have an AAC version, but itunes will convert it to the lower rates. I just tried it on the free single of the week, "Boarded Doors" and the file size went down from 6.9MB to 3.2MB.
You can choose to convert an album at a time - you don't need to do it song-by-song.
I suppose you could do your entire library in one fell swoop, but frankly with the size of my library, I think itunes would crash at some point. Also my hard drive would fill up. ; )
Note - this makes a COPY and does not replace the original file. So you'll need to delete the originals and make sure they go to the recycle bin.
Still, it's faster than feeding all those CDs in the drive!
So that is another reason for doing one CD at a a time, to make sure the copies get made and that the duplciates get gone.

how can i save a photo album that i created on my iPhone 4s on my PC?  I have about 10 albums and I want to save them in their own folders on the PC.  When hooking up the phone to the PC, all i see is the individual photos.  I have an iMac and a sony vaio, so i am open to transfer on either machine.
    Thanks in advance

Have you had any luck with this? I want to do the same thing and my individual photo albums on my iPhone won't tranfer to my laptop or iPad....only the pictures.

  • Photo Album Folders?

I'm wondering when Apple will make folders available to create with in the iPhone Photo Album so that the camera roll photos can be organized without having to go through the computer first. I don't want to buy an app to do what the iPhone should already do. We can create playlists on iPod app, so the same idea should be added to the Photo Album. I have over 1,000 pics and want to organize them in albums. Anytime soon???

So you have 1000's of photos in the camera roll? The same camera roll that is a special temp area that as with any digital camera (that is how that partition of space is detected by computers) you should keep clean. The same space that has a limit to what it can hold since it is a temp place. A place that yes is part of your backup but as many can attest to, can be lost if backup get corrupt or something goes wrong.
So why don't you take them off to your computer as fully intended as your computer is the primary location to store your data as the iPhone is NOT a backup device. Once on your computer then your normal backup routines to protect your data will be available (I assume you backup your important files). And once on the computer, you can easily sort and organize your photos.
All of this helps protect your data as the phone is fully intended to by synced and important data backed up to your computer regularly.

  • How do I create photo album folders or files ? As it stands, ihave some 500 pics saved but only want to play some of them for a slideshow presentation?

How do I create file folders or photo albums to save photos in specific designated area for subsequent playback as a slideshow. As it stands, I have approx 500 photos in new I Pad 2, however need to only play about 30 in a slideshow. Thank you

For the Photos app you need to put the photos into different folders on your computer and then sync those folders to the iPad - you need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad in one go, as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad. There are third-party apps that you can copy photos to on the iPad which I think might allow you to do slideshows, but I havn't used any of them.
With iOS 5 in the Autumn you will (assuming that it makes it to the final release) be able to (from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos) :
Even organize your photos in albums — right on your device.

  • My photos in my folders aren't copying to ipad in same order as computer even after renaming sequentially. It's a photo album so need same order

My photos in my folders aren't copying to ipad in same order as computer even after renaming sequentially. It's a photo album so need same order

On iOS 6 the photos are copied over (from here) in date modified order. So you will either need to amend the photo's on your computer so that their modified dates are in your required order, or there are third-party photo management apps such as Photo Manager Pro which allow you to change an album's sort order within the app e.g. by date, size, or by dragging them into your own sort order.

  • Can I use the albums/project/folders in Aperture to display photo's with Apple TV ?

Can I use the albums/project/folders in Aperture to display photo's with Apple TV on my TV?

Yes, select the photos you want to share via the iTunes advanced menu.

  • Wanting additional folders within the photo album folder

Hi, i want to create several folders within Photo Albums, ie holiday pics, movies etc etc.
Currently in itunes, i have 'sync photos from' and i have selected iphone (a folder on my desktop on my pc) and have selected all folders and videos. Within this folder, ther are several folders.
When i sync, under photo albums i get 'Photo Library' and this contains 3 photos from my iphone folder on my PC. There are no folders appearing that i have created etc.
If i choose 'slected folders' instead and then select all the folders it displays on itunes, then sync, under photo albums, the photo library vanishes!
Any ideas of how i put some folders on?
    Thanks

Same thing happened to me.  The latest update (9.3.1) didn't undo the damage. Not crazy about trying to rearrange all the photos back to their original events (if I can find them.....)

  • How to create folders for photo albums

How to create folders for photo albums?

More detail please?  Are you talking about photos synced to the Photos app in the iPad, or photos taken by the iPad camera, emailed to it or added by a camera kit? Have you checked the User Guide for this - availble through the IPad Manuals link at the very start of this forum?

  • Albums vs Folders from iPhoto does not show folders on Apple TV

Does anyone have a work around to assist organization of Albums on Apple TV into Folders from iPhoto. We have 12,000 images on iMac organized into 30 Folders within which are 80++ albums. When synced the Apple TV only displays albums, all Folders deleted. The consequence is having to scroll through the 80+ albums when seeking the one album you want to watch. This poor form of organization on Apple TV is really cumbersome and driving us nuts.
