Photo Analyzer Organizer 12

Most of my photos are medium quality and i don't know why? They are in focus and don't have other issues. What would make them high quality?

Come on folks, i can't believe no one knows what makes a high quality photo. Is the analyzer just not a good function? I was hoping to use it to become a better photographer; am i expecting too much? Also maybe i didn't phrase my question right?
Thanks, Barb

  • How do I transfer photos in organizer to iPhoto?

I am going to be switching from windows to Mac. I currently use Photoshop Elements 9.0 and I have approximately 9000 photos in Organizer. I would like to continue to use Elements as my photo editing program and iPhoto to catalog my pictures. Is there a way to transfer ohotos from Organizer to iPhoto, keeping the tags I used to catalog my pictures in organizer?

I couldn't see how to export from the organiser?
I don't use the app but I'd ask on the support of whoever does.
The process of exporting from any app makes a new file. You would then import that file to iPhoto. Then trash both the ones in organiser and the exported copy.
As I'm not familiar with organiser I can't comment. But in your case I would export 50 shots from organiser and import them to iPhoto and explore.
I have tried to import from iphoto to the organiser but it seems to bring all files over each time even though some info on the net suggests it can select events
How are you exporting?  This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
I had also used the faces feature in iphoto, but organiser doesn't seem to import these tags and wants to do face recognition again.
None of these apps can share Faces data. They all use their own system and there is no standardisation.

  • Can't Seem to Get My Photos Into Organizer

I am feeling dumber than a clock!  I am new to PSE and have version 10.  My photos are organized by year and within a year by dates and events.  I cannot seem to bring those pictures into the Organizer.
I have succeeded in bringing a single photo into Organizer but would really like to bring in entire folders at a time.
    What am I doing wrong?

There's a learning curve to the software, for sure.  Don't hesitate to ask more questions.
When you have the Help open, look in the upper right corner for an icon that's labelled "View as PDF".  Click on it, and when the PDF finishes loading, you can save the PDF onto your computer.  The PDF is great because you can search for terms in it.  Note:  There are separate PDF Help files for the Organizer and the Editor.

  • Why does Flip-Pal Scanner's SD card down load photos to Organizer even the photo is already in Organizer?

Why does Flip-Pa Scanner's SD card down load photos to Organizer even though the photos are already in Organizer.  My preferences are to not load again photos already in Organizer.  My camera SD card loads photos only one time.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • Can't Get Photos in Organizer 7

    I'm running PSE7 on Windows XP SP3.
I created a movie with my camera.
I downloaded the .avi file to my pc.
Then I brought the .avi file into Windows Movie Maker.
I captured four still images from the .avi file and created .jpg's from them.
So I ended up with four jpg's.
I then tried to do a 'Get Photos' in Organizer by navigating to the folder with the images.
When I tried to import them I got an error indicating that the files were either already
in the catalog or they were not the correct type.
I checked the catalog by filename (using Find) and the files were not there.
Then I opened the file in PSE Editor. They opened fine.
I then Saved them using the option to include in Organizer.
The images now show up in Organizer just fine.
Any ideas whey my jpg's were rejected by Organizer initially?

Here's what I think the problem is.
WMM adds a couple of pieces of EXIF data to the image.
One is 'Date Modified' and the other is 'Firmware Version'.
If I modify the 'Date Modified' information with an EXIF editor I can then
successfully Import the jpg into Organizer.
The WMM tag looks like 'Sun Jul 12 09:46:20 2009'.
The EXIF editor (Exifer) changes that tag to look like:
    'Sunday, July 12, 2009'
    '09:46:20 AM'.
My guess would be that PSE7 Organizer doesn't like the way that tag
    is constructed by WMM.
I did try Premier Elements for capturing my jpg's. That seems to
work fine. The jpg's get placed back into Organizer.
I'll have to practice a bit more with PE to see if I can get
comfortable with using it. PE seems to have a lot more
    functions.

  • Import photos into Organizer Photoshop 7

How can I import photos into Organizer from a Desktop folder in the same order that I have arranged and numbered them?

I can confirm that Barb's method also works in PSE 7.
Are you on Vista or XP?
Can you give an example of two files that are in the desired order on Windows Explorer but a different order in PSE?
Most likely, youre encountering a feature of Vista Windows Explorer. PSE sorts filenames in Folder Location view by the customary dictionary (lexicographic) order used by most applications. For example, the file p15.jpg will come before p2.jpg, because 1 comes before 2 in the dictionary. But Windows Explorer sorts p15.jpg
after ps2.jpg, because it uses a different rule for sorting filenames if filenames end in numbers, then it sorts files that all have the same leading prefix by the numeric value of that number, not by dictionary order.
If this is indeed your issue, there are several alternate approaches:
    - Rename the files in Windows Explorer to have names of the form p002.jpg and p015.jpg (that is, the same number of trailing digits).
    - Use PSE albums rather than Windows Explorer to create ordered collections of photos. Its very easy to rearrange the order of photos in albums, much easier than renaming in Windows Explorer. In general, if you want to use the PSE Organizer, then things will go easiest if you do all your file management within PSE and not try to use Windows Explorer.
    - If you want your photos in order of date taken, use the PSEs Display > Thumbnail View to show them in date order. (Folder Location view shows in filename order, and albums show in the order you set.) Use Edit > Adjust Date And Time to change the date taken of any photos as necessary.

  • How do I rearrange photos in organizer 13 albums?

How do I rearrange photos in organizer elements 13 albums?

When you have selected an album, look at the third line: there is a 'Sort by' button. Just choose 'album order' and move your thumbnails around in the display space.

  • Unable to open edited photos in organizer

I Imported the photos with organizer in RAW format, used the RAW converter and did some editing in Editor, I have Elements 9, I save as photoshop.psd and in organizer I get a picure of a torn paper, unable to open,
what is this It´s probably a simple answer, but I can´t find it,

Does the original photo still exist in the directory it was in when imported into Organizer?  If so, use File...Reconnect...All Missing Files to reconnect to it.
If you no longer have the original imported photo in its original directory, use File...Get Photos and Videos...From Files and Folders to re-import photos from the directory.

  • Photo Elements Organizer crashes

Downloaded the trial version of PSE 9 and opened the photo editing page.  When I selected the Organizer icon and attempted to import photos from i Photo the Organizer crashed.  The only was I could get out of the program was to force quit.  Repeated efforts have given the same results.  As far as I can tell I have never seen the Welcome Page.  I have had some success with the PE page and have been able to import individual images there and have been able to edit those images. What am I doing wrong?

The best I can tell there are 7221 items in the catalog.  Scrolling thru the catalog I see a lot of images that I did not originally take or to my knowledge import. You can see from the above threads that I was not able to import directly from IPhoto so I did a work around and imported all the files individually.
I would like to start over completely but am not sure how to do that.  How can I just delete everything and begin the trial again?

  • New to mac and iphoto, questions about photo structure & organization

I bought a new Macbook Pro a couple of days ago and am still figuring things out. I wasn't displeased with windows...I just decided to try a mac anyway, So far, I adore it except for one thing, the pictures.
I spent hours researching whether to download and use picasa 3 for mac or iphoto. I decided on picasa....and now I've changed my mind. (Mostly because I tried to take pictures of the moon tonight, and they looked great in camera, but Picasa could only pick up a black screen whearas iphoto actually saw and defined the moon- and with the editing software on the two, the picasa auto-edit looked like a picture that was created in microsoft paint, and iphoto came out with a beautifully contrasted photo).
Now that I decided to use iphoto, I have been researching how to switch and still seem to have a lot of questions. (I've poked around numerous forums but have found conflicting answers on different sites).
    1) I organize my pictures by folders with the month and year. I know iphoto organizes events, which it seems to determine based on photo similarity. Will my photo structure still appear in finder -> pictures?
    2) Is it possible to stop iphoto from organizing my pictures and just trust me on what I want?
    3) All of my friends and family use PCs, and there is a chance that due to financial concerns, when I eventually replace my macbook pro (far in the future) I could switch to a pc. Does iphoto make transferring pictures more difficult? (If I understand correctly, it does not change the photo file, a jpeg is still a jpeg but I want to be sure)
    4) I do not want iphoto to duplicate all of the pictures already in my library....if I import from finder-users-pictures, will it simply use those, or duplicate all 150gb worth of pictures?
    5) Any other tips for someone completely new to macs and iphoto?
    6) This is very silly, but how do I uninstall picasa (I know how to uninstall on a windows but want to make sure I do things correctly on my mac!)
Also, just a "bonus"- regarding events vs. files I create, will iphoto create events within the program but leave my file structure in the library it imports from alone? If I use finder to go to where I store my photos, will I still see my file structure regardless of what iphoto does?(Does that make sense? I'm having a hard time trying to describe it)
I apologize if this question is foolish or misplaced- I did read many other posts but didn't see the answers I was looking for.

Your questions are neither foolish nor misplaced.
The first thing I strongly suggest is that you make a trial iPhoto Library. Import 100 or 200 pics and explore. Iphoto isn't right for everybody, and if you're going to use it you will need to rethink things a little.
    1) I organize my pictures by folders with the month and year. I know iphoto organizes events, which it seems to determine based on photo similarity. Will my photo structure still appear in finder -> pictures?
A: Events are based entirely on Date and Time not on 'photo similarity' You can set the interval for what makes an Event in the iPhoto Preferences: iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> General Pane: Autosplit into Events... And select from the drop down menu.
Will my photo structure still appear in finder -> pictures?
Yes or no, depending... iPhoto can run as a Referenced or Managed Library. In the former case, yes you files will be visible in the Finder, in the latter case they won't.
Note that Referenced or Managed refers +only to file storage+ It offers no extra functionality, it does nothing at all. App like iPhoto are your go-to app for your photos. If you use it, then you never access the photos via the Finder. Ever. It's always via iPhoto or the many, many hooks into the OS that it has.
I'll detail more on Referenced v Managed below.
    2) Is it possible to stop iphoto from organizing my pictures and just trust me on what I want?
I'm not sure what you mean by this. Iphoto does basic date and time organisation by default. You can change it, you can change the location of the photos in Events, merge them and then using the other tools available - Albums, Smart Albums, Faces, Places etc you can organise your photos whatever way you want.
But what do you mean by pictures. There is a distinction between Photos - the image of your child holding his dog - and files: A Jpeg is just a file. Iphoto is designed for you to +forget about the jpeg+ and get on with the interesting bit: the pics of your younger and his pet.
A Jpeg is a Jpeg is a Jpeg. If you migrate to another app or an entire OS you can export the photos plus any and all metadata you've added to the Finder and move it on. (Caveat: You cannot export Faces. There is no agreed standard on any system for exchanging this info.)
    4) I do not want iphoto to duplicate all of the pictures already in my library....if I import from finder-users-pictures, will it simply use those, or duplicate all 150gb worth of pictures?
It can do either. And this brings me back to the Referenced v Managed discussion above. By default, iPhoto will Manage the files, that is, it will copy them into the Library. You can choose not to, but I strongly recommend that you don't:
    *How to do it:*
Simply go to iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> Advanced and uncheck 'Copy Files to the iPhoto Library on Import'.
    *What Happens:*
Now iPhoto will not copy the files, but rather simply reference them on your HD. To do this it will create an alias in the Originals Folder that points to your file. It will still create a thumbnail and, if you modify the pics, a Modified version within the iPhoto Library Folder.
    *Some things to consider:*
    1. Importing and deleting pics are more complex procedures. You have to to put the files where they will be stored before importing them. When you delete them you'll need to remove the files from the HD yourself.
    2. You cannot move or rename the files on your system or iPhoto will lose track of them on systems prior to 10.5 and iPhoto 08. Even with the later versions issues can still arise if you move the referenced files to new volumes or between volumes.
    3. Most importantly, migrating to a new disk or computer can be much more complex.
    4. Because iPhoto has no tools for managing Referenced Files, if, for some reason, the path to the photos changes then you could find yourself resolving aliases for +each photo in the Library+ one by one.
    My own opinion:
I've yet to see a good reason to run iPhoto in referenced mode unless you're using two photo organisers
If disk space is an issue, you can run an entire iPhoto Library from an external disk:
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
If you're concerned about accessing the files, There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and later* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
*If you want to edit the photo in another application:*
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
    5) Any other tips for someone completely new to macs and iphoto?
    *To Push Home a point*
For someone inexperienced with Macs and inexperienced with iPhoto I cannot stress enough that Managed Library is the way to go. I understand there is comfort in seeing all those folders. But inside the Library that's all there is: all those folders, stored so that an inexperienced user can't grub things up!
The iPhoto Library Folder is a Package File. This is simply a folder that looks like a file in the Finder. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves. Want to see inside?
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Standard Warning: Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
Now close that window and forget about it.
So, once you've imported your photos to iPhoto in a Managed Library, the surplus duplicates are +your folders+. Of course, in time, trash them to get back the wasted disk space. But don't do it today or tomorrow. There's no hurry. When you feel confident that you understand how iPhoto is working and that's it's working for you, theat's the time to reclaim the space.
I organize my pictures by folders with the month and year.
If you want to duplicate your Folder Tree in iPhoto:
Start at the bottom of the hierarchy and drag a folder of images to the Album Heading in iPhoto. The pics will be imported and an Album of the same name created.
You can then create the Enclosing Folders in the iPhoto Window (File -> New Folder) and drag the Album to it. Folders can contain other Folders (Nested Folders) and Albums.
However, is your folder system date based? Then this form of organisation is a bit pointless in iPhoto when Smart Albums or the Calendar tool (Click on the wee magnifying glass in the Search Box) mean you can find the photos taken on any day, month or year at a click. With Smart Albums it's easy to find photos from specific range - say, June 3 to August 25, 2009 etc.
If your folder system is theme based - Xmas pics, Birthday pics etc, then you'll find Keywords are much more flexible, and can be used in conjunction with other criteria for making Smart Albums and searches.
    6) This is very silly, but how do I uninstall picasa (I know how to uninstall on a windows but want to make sure I do things correctly on my mac!)
Drag the app to the trash and empty it.

  • Can't see some photos in Organizer - Photoshop 9

In Organizer, I am using the "Folder Location" display view. I imported some photos from a folder by doing the following: I right clicked on the folder from which I wanted to import the photos and then left clicked on "Import to Organizer." When the process was done, I then clicked on "Show All." With that folder highlighted, only the thumbnails of some of the photo files from that folder appear (that folder highlighted) on the Orgnaizer screen. Other thumbanils of photos in that folder do not appear on the screen. I can verify this by right clicking on the folder in question and then left clicking on "Reveal in Explorer" which shows all the photo files in the folder in question. Also, no "Keyword Tags" are checked. The photos that do not appear from the folder in question are ones that have copies in other folders.
    1) What could be causing this problem of some photos in a folder not appearing in the Organizer screen using the "Folder Location" display view and that folder being highlighted?
    2) How can I be sure that all photos from a given folder appear in Organizer when I use the "Folder Location" display view in Organizer?
    Thanks.

  • Photo Event Organization Problem

I had about 20,000 plus photos in I-Photo all organized by event and date.  I decided to download another 1700 photos from a remote hard drive from my career and after they were imported, all the organization of the events was lost.  I cannot seem to figure out how to get them back into the same organized manner without manually going through every photo.  I did that to create the events originally and I cannot tell you how long that took.  I had them backed up to an external drive and when viewed on that drive, they are correct but I cannot get them back onto my Macbook in that order.  What gives?

What gives? You did something wrong someplace  --  how did you "download" another 1700 photos from a remote hard drive?
What do you mean that the "organization of the events was lost?
Note that events are not really for organizaing photos - they are really just buckets of photos - albums and folders and smart albums are the organizaing tools
while it may not be necessary one way to "get yoru old organization" back is move the "unorganized" library to the desktop and drag the library from the EHD to the pictures folder and import the 1700 photos correctly

  • Can I move photos within Organizer (PSE8) ?

Some of the photos from the same date are out of order. They were loaded from my sim card but have moved their order for some reason.
I also scan in photos and change the date to the event date but want to rearrage the order. MUST they be scanned correctly--this is hard to do when scanning at different times.

PSE8 by default places photos in the order of Date (Newest First). You can change that order to Date (Oldest First) by using the dropdown placed adjacent to the "Organize" pane.
Also, within a date the photo clicked at 8:00 am will be shown before the photo clicked at 10:00 am. You can change that order too that is you can show 10:00 am image before 8:00 am by using the preferences.
Goto Edit --> Preferences --> General --> In Display Options --> Date (Newest First), choose second option (Show Newest First within each day).
If you want to rearrange your images in a random order than create an album of all the media. Selec the album and start dragging the images as per your thought arrangement.
    Happy Arranging!!!
