Photo attachment size in Mail

Hi
When I attach photos into a mail, they appear as actual size.
I would like all my attachment photos to appear as icons.
I can then change the size of the photos into an icon but have to change each one individually.
Is there a way to do a defult setting so that when I attach photos, they automatically go in as icons?
Cheers
Woodsie

Folks
This is not an issue, it's a feature. By this I mean it's intended behaviour. Apple have not "fixed it" because as far as they are concerned it's not broken. If you would like the behaviour changed then
1. Install Mail-Attachments-Iconizer. I see one poster mentions he had issues with it but I've used for years with none.
2. Always send your messages as Plain text: (Mail -> Preferences -> Composing). This will help with the pic arriving embedded. Though remember, the settings on the recipient's email client is the biggest factor in deciding how the email will display on their machine. Also, remember there's no reason why any other client "should" behave exactly like Eudora.
3. If you want Mail to be changed there is no point in posting here. This is a User to User forum, and Apple do not promise to read it. So, if you want more options, a new default setting or even new preferences: Contact the developers of Mail:
Mail menu -> Provide Mail Feedback
The more folk that do, the better the chance of things being changed.

  • How do i resize photo attachment in icloud mail

How do I resize photo attachment in icloud mail. The resize button does not appear as it did  before.

Using iCloud mail online via a browser does not offer the option to resize the photo.  It's only available when emailing from iPhoto so iPhoto can do the resizing as it adds the image to the email.  Safari or whatever browser you're using doesn't have that capability.

  • Problems with photos attached to a mail

Normally a photo attached to a mail arrives at the addressee as a separate file which can be detached and stored separately.
Since a couple of days it does not work this way, when I use the Apple mail program to send messages from my iMac (OSX 10.5.3). Now they are embedded into the mail as very large pictures. I think there must be something wrong with the settings of mail.
Does anybody know what I can do in order to get back the "normal" state?

    Sogar Microsoft hat so was...
(Hoffentlich hat das jetzt auch einer von denen gelesen - und verstanden!)

  • Limit on Attachment Size in Mail

I want to receive mails with a text file attachment (.csv file).  I receive it OK and can view the attachment in the mail if the attachment is just a few lines, but i don't receive the mail at all if the attachment is a little larger.  Is there a limit on the file size of attchments ?
Also, is it possible to save an attchment from an email so that it can be used by another App ?
(I have a spreadsheet app and would like to be able to pick up a .csv file sent to me via email).
    thanks, Keith

Most email services have limits on the size of attachments, they can vary. But from your description, your file doesn't sound like its that big, it should transmit.
For attachments, press and hold the attachment icon, a menu should pop up that includes "open in" where you can open it in any app that is compatible with that file format. I'm not sure a csv file would connect with a spreadsheet app like Numbers, though.

  • Missing attachment size in mail 4.3

Hi, when I attach a jpeg to an email, I can see the size of the attachment at the bottom of the window but when I attach a pdf, the 'message size' and 'image size' are both missing. Please does anybody know if this is standard or do I have a problem?

    Stuart,
The problem in the earlier version of Mail was that if the Image Size button were used with PDF, to anything other than Actual Size, the PDF was converted to a JPEG and havoc resulted. It was very purposefully removed in later versions of Mail unless true image files that could be downsized as JPEG files were what were attached. I know this because I was one who pointed out the error that could result. The resizing was prevented in the final Version of Mail 2.x, but the Message size Report and Image Size button were not removed when attaching PDF until Mail 3.x and later.
The current behavior is not a bug, and the Message Size was only meant to appear when Image Size button could be used to reduce the size of the files, and thus the entire message.

  • Maximum attachment size for Mail 4.3 and can it be changed?

    Hi,
We are using Exchange 2010 at work and have found via several Mac users, and which I have verified myself, that Mac Mail appears to impose its own maximum attachment size limits, somewhere around 10MB. If I take the exact same message and send it via my PC running Outlook 2007 the message sends correctly.
We have 4 users who reported the same thing so it isn't isolated to one machine. I have confirmed and re-confirmed that our Hub and Edge transports are configured to allow 100MB e-mails. Mac Mail has other ideas.
Is there a way to change this limitation as I can't seem to find anything, via Google and/or searching these groups?
I don't want to go back to Thunderbird or, worse yet, Entourage......

It appears in this case to be a failure on Apples part to develop an application that support MAPI. Hopefully the forthcoming release of Office 2011 will rectify this situation.
As I said I have gone through our setup of 6 exchange servers, covering all the bases.
    For instance,
    get-mailbox <user> | fl MaxSize
    MaxSendSize : 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes)
    MaxReceiveSize : 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes)
    Get-TransportConfig | fl MaxSize
    MaxReceiveSize : 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes)
    MaxSendSize : 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes)
All receive connectors are configured to 100MB also on our Hub Transports.
Even the fix listed in the links above, related to EWS and changing the IIS settings, which is where the issue seems to be, doesn't seem to work for me. It may be that I have missed something of course so I'll look over those links once more.
Maybe restarting IIS after the changes were made wasn't enough.....
Of course the other fix, since it works perfectly well with Windows machines and Outlook is to do away with our Macs entirely. Boy that would make me happy!!

  • Reduce Attachment size in Mail on iPad (4.2)

    Greetings:
I have spent a ton of time trying to find out how to do this but only seem to see where people talk about the ability to "select size of photo attachments" yet I cannot figure out how to actually do this.
This is a big deal for me as I mail images all the time and want to set my iPad up so it reduces the size of the image if possible
    Thanks
    Doug

Thanks for the information. I looked for the User Guide on the iPad page in the online store and the link was still to the old PDF file--my first clue was the "orientation" toggle was listed and not the silent switch. After your reply I went back in to search under manuals and found it. I downloaded it to the iBook for easy reference.
By the way, I also noted that some photos I saved from the web directly on my iPad were not able to be resized when I attempted to email them. I don't pretend to understand that <g>

  • Individual attachment size in mail app

I was able to see the size of individual attachments in the old version of mail.

I would like to see the size (kb) of the individual attachments.
I only see the total now while in the old version i could see the size of all of them seperate.
    Hope this helps.
I am not sure still - do you mean see the individual sizes within a received message?  I can see that info when I am viewing by icon

  • How do I attach photos to an e-mail as an attachment

I am trying to attach a photo to an e-mail from my Yahoo Account, when I click on attachment it does not allow to access the iphotos folder.
I have looked at sending photos direct from iphotos by e-mail and it seems to only allow you to inclue the photographs in the body of the e-mail and not as an attachment??

    Hello timbri,
Open iPhoto; select the photo you want to attach, then simply drag it onto the e-mail screen.  NOTE: You may have to move your iPhoto window a little in order to expose a portion of your mail screen, but as long as there's a llittle screen showing, you can drop your photo there.  You should also see a drop-down menu allowing you to choose the size of the photo frame being sent.  I've sent as many as four pix this way. I have os x 10.6.8, so I hope this works for you.

  • Mac OS X Mail compresses TIFF photo attachment

I'm trying to send an uncompressed photo (tff file, 5mb) as an attachment to a mail message -- but mail seems to automatically compress the file (to about 400k) -- how do I stop this and send the original file?

John, on the new message screen after you have attached the photo, look at the bottom right where there is an option to send the original size or reduce.

  • When I want to attach a photo to my e-mail I can no longer find my iPhoto library using open - media - photos.

So starting recently (last couple of months) when I want to attach a photo to my e-mail I can no longer find my iPhoto library using open - media - photos.  There's nothing there, it's just completely blank, when in the past my whole iPhoto library would show up with thumbnails and I could just choose the pic to attach.  Now I have to drag the photos I want from iPhoto onto the desktop and then I can find them there to attach to my e-mail.  How can I get my iPhoto library to show back up the simple way when I want to attach photos?  I've been having this problem attaching photos in hotmail or yahoo.

It should be an attachment.  Your Mac just displays a preview of certain attachments (such as .pdfs) in the body of the message.  A PC, for example, will see it as an attached file rather than a preview.
You can save the attachment on your Mac by Control-clicking on it and selecting Save Attachment.

    Souvent eu ce problème,

  • Attach photos to an e-mail

Is it possible to attach a photo in an e-mail, instead of placing the photo into the e-mail. So when the recipient receives the e-mail the photo(s) is an attachment instead of part of the text in the e-mail?

Whether you add a photo within the body of a message or tack it onto the end it comes to the same thing: it's an attachment in both cases. What happens at the other end is down to the recipient's settings. In most cases their Mail application will be set to display photos; some people may have set it to show them only as an attached file; but in either case there is nothing you can do to affect this, it's entirely up to their settings. As said above, the only way to prevent the photos displaying if their settings have be set to do this is to zip them first.

  • Trouble browsing photos to attach to e-mail

I'm trying to attach a photo to an e-mail and have tried two different ways but have not had luck with either.  First, I clicked the paperclip icon to attach, then clicked the Pictures folder.  I have iPhoto folders for each year 2005-2012 (all with photos in them), yet the 2012 folder does not appear on the Pictures list--no idea why not.  So then I tried to click the iPhoto browser icon.  It said "Open iPhoto to see photos from your iPhoto library in this list"--iPhoto was open at the time.  I am at a loss as to what to do.  I have iPhoto '11 version 9.3 on a MacBook.

    This:
So then I tried to click the iPhoto browser icon.
is the correct way to go.
    As to fixing it:
    Repair permissions with Disk Utility.
