Photo become more dark than IE when using Facebook on Windows 8

Dear
I install firefox 18.0.1 on windows 8 for my PC. When i access to facebook, almost picture on my facebook page became a litte darkness. I compare to Chrome it's same. But when I compare to IE, every picture became normal, same when I using Firefox on windows 7 at other PC.
Could you tell me how to fix this problem?

Do these images have an embedded color profile?
That can be caused by a problem with the color profile for your display monitor or color profiles embedded in images.<br />
You can disable color management to test that.<br />
You can set the gfx.color_management.mode pref to 0 on the about:config page to disable Color Management.<br />
You need to close and restart Firefox to make the change effective.

  • Access Violation when using java in windows terminal session

    Hi,
we have 2 ms Windows Terminal Servers with Windows 2k3 Enterprise x64 (Intel). I installed Sun JRE version 6 update 5 for windows 64 bit. Everything is working properly when i am using the terminal server as priviledged user (i.e. domain administrator). But as restricted user the browser crashes instantly if I am trying to view a java applet in any browser. Java creates an error log on my desktop which I feel free to post here:

Does anyone have a clue what is the cause of this error? For the first time I thought that there is a problem with the 64 bit environment, but if this would be the case the applets should not be working as administrator too. As non priviledged user the error occures on ANY java applet so I think there must be a general problem.
    Regards,
    Sebastian

I decided that even if I found the update, another could easily break it. I instead downloaded and installed the Early Access JRE ( 1.6.0_10-ea ) located at https://jdk6.dev.java.net/6uNea.html. It resolved the problem, and all other applications have tested okay with it. I figured I am at risk either way, so I might as well move forward knowing it will become more stable, than step back and create security holes in the OS.

  • When using facebook, Firefox locks up and nothing works except a hot shutdown on Windows Vista

About twice a week, usually, but not always, when using facebook, my screen locks up, no buttons or clicks on links work and I get a message in the Firefox title bar that says: "Firefox not responding". I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium on a Toshiba Satellite laptop and the only other window open is my email account on GoDaddy, but this happens even when that is not open. My hard drive LED begins glowing steady "on" when this occurs when usually it is flashing or not glowing at all. It frequently happens when changing facebook pages or trying to close facebook. Sometimes I get a "wait" hourglass, sometimes not. I have tried leaving the computer alone to let it sort out on it's own, and I have tried machine gun tapping on the "close" button. Either way the only resolution is a hot shutdown (hold down the computer power button until the computer shuts down) and wait a few minutes before reboot. On reboot, the same facebook page will open automatically and sometimes will lock up again when I try to close that window. On more rare occasions this lockup happens on sites other than facebook. My computer guru has looked at my setup and tells me my computer is fine and virus free. Since I'm a computer doof I don't know what he is talking about. Any ideas? Is there a difference between a "crash" and a "lockup" or do they mean the same thing?

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Hi, thank you. I think what you are describing is the page that you are on at that particular website is "refreshing". At least that is what is sounds like to me. The same as if you used the key F5 or the icon at the top of your toolbar.
Does this happen on all of the games on Facebook or just some? I'm not sure exactly why this happens and can only guess unless I did some research on the subject. The particular game is very busy or perhaps it is using a lot of resources. The next time it happens, you might want to bring the Task Manager up and see what that application is using under processes.
Also I would not have more than one window open, since some of the games use a lot of resources.
I wish I could help you more, but I don't use Facebook or any of the games. I would certainly check the Task Manager. At least that may give you a clue as to what is going on.
Perhaps someone that has more information will see your thread and help you further.
    Thanks,

There is no way to see who is on line when using facebook with iPad 2 why is that?

I'm guessing you mean for FB Chat? Try the app Friendly.

  • When using facebook my words are really small so i need to know how i can make them back larger

Somehow I changed the size of my characters only when using facebook, so I would like to know how to change them back to regular size because they are really small. It's only like this when using facebook on firefox because I tried on internet explorer and it's fine.

ctrl-+ is the easiest way (as in, hold down ctrl and press the + key, multiple times if needed). It might be [mac button]-+ on macs, I'm not sure.

  • LR 4.1 photos (still) MUCH darker than in PS CS5 - why?

Right: Photo in LR4.1, shown using Process 2010 to be compatible (as good as possible) with PS and ACR 6.7 (a switch to 2012 shows a difference regarding darkness, but not too much)
Left: Top the same photo opend via LR (it matches the LR version), bottom the same photo opend directly via PS. This bottom version is how it should look like IMO.
Photo is a Canon .CR2 RAW file. Of course all parameters for the RAW converting process are the same for LR and PS.
Screen is Eizo CG243W, hardware calibrated with the Eizo Color Navigator (coming with the monitor) and Spyder 4. Win7 64Bit, all currently Adobe Updates installed, no RC versions.
Simply ALL photos are shown way too dark in LR, not only RAWs but also jpgs. Photos match between PS and e.g. Firefox, which supports color management.
It is also clearly visible how different the histograms between the two open versions in PS look like:
    Dark version (opend via LR):
    Opend via PS directly:
No clou what to check anymore, and quite desperate already... it makes no sense to spend a lot of work to improve the photos in LR with high effort (and all drawbacks of going to the limits with Exposure etc.) if this is all only based on some wrong interpretation of LR, which it looks like to me...
Ah yes, I read about that LR cannot handle V4 ICC monitor profiles correctly, but I checked this, mine are V2.2, so this should be fine... but maybe still some incompatibility between the profiles produced by the ColorNavigator and LR!? I also found the other topics regarding similar problems here in the forum, but as we are already talking about LR4.1 final and ACR 6.7 for PS, it seems like the bugfix mentionend there did not solve this issue...
    Anybody any clou?
    Thanks!
    Klaus
UPDATE: OK, now it is getting really weird... I just saw that I opend the file with PS as 8 bit only, so I tried to do again with 16 bit. Result is that I now cannot reproduce my screenshot from above at all, no matter if using 8 or 16 bit - but what I can manage is to have the photo opend twice in PS, looking exactly the same, both 16 bit, but with totally different histograms!?

With Nikon raw files I can't reproduce what you're seeing.
I'm also using LR4 (.2RC in my case) and PS CS5.
Provided the raw file is set to PS2010 in LR, then it looks the same in LR as in CS5.  CS5 evaluates histograms differently, so they don't exactly compare - but the histogram in LR looks the same as the histogram in ACR.
Have you got LR, Catalog settings, Metadata tab, "Automatically write changes into XMP" checked?  If not, you need to right click the image in LR, select Metadata, then "Save metadata to file" to make sure the xmp data that ACR sees in the .xmp file is the same as the edit data LR sees.  And, as you say, set the process in LR to PS2010 or there may be slight differences, even though ACR6.7 is supposed to be able to read PV2012 files (in my experience, ACR6.7 does not render PV2012 files identically to LR4.2RC, or it didn't when I was using them last weekend).
Can't help you with the Spyder or Eizo kit - I have two different monitors both calibrated with a ColorMunki Display, set to create v2 profiles.  As everyone says, v4 profiles seem to be more trouble than they're worth.

  • I have two printers:  Epson XP-950 and an hp Photosmart 7520.  Both print photos that are darker than they appear on the PC screen.  What can I do to set them to printg what is shown on the screen????

I use Photoshop Elements 12 for my photos.  I have a constant problem where my photos don't print like they appear on the screen.  They come out darker than the screen shows.  If brighten them in the program, I have to almost make the photo appear "white" in order to look good printed.   ??????  What can I do to fix this problem??

I am ready to bet that your display is much, much too bright (like all displays at factory settings.

  • Flash Becoming More Trouble Than It Is Worth

I play a lot of Flash games, including Evony. There are many people who have noticed problems with these games since the latest Flash update. So, please do not give us your standard "this must be a user error because we are perfect" answer.
Since this latest Flash player update, we've seen the following:
Sometimes the GUI is half blanked out
Buttons which used to take one click now require several clicks before they work
The chat window pops back to the top every time someone enters new text
Scrolling around sometimes takes forever or freezes up
    Lagging has increased exponentially
Are we all tired of Flash becoming more and more unusable? YES
As a former Flash Developer, I understand how easily Flash programs break and/or become obsolete with subsequent updates. I have become increasingly more frustrated and disillusioned by Flash and it's relevancy to the internet. As a Mac and PC user, I find it disgusting that I can no longer use my G4 to access the internet appropriately since Flash is so prominent and does not work properly on "older" Apple computers.
Please, please get it together Adobe before we all start moving on to something else. You are rapidly losing your fan base. Especially all the artists and developers that helped you popularize Flash usage on their APPLE machines.

Hi, Have you tried turning off the hardware acceleration feature? Right click on any video and click on Settings, then Display Settings and Uncheck it.
It has also been recommended to update the graphic and video drivers to the latest versions. Sometimes just turning off the H.A. takes care of the issue.

  • My new 7D gets very dark pics indoors when using "automatic" settings. Whats wrong?

My new Canon 7D gets very dark pics indoors when everything is set on "Automatic".  So did my 60D, which i traded in for the 7D because of disappointing dark pics when on "Automatic".  This happens with the built-in flash, and also with my 430EX II external flash.
What am I doing wrong?  I would like to make it work properly on "Automatic".
    Thanks,
    Art

Thanks for your responses!  I'm not using a flash.  The lighting is sufficient for even my iPhone4 to capture images with no flash, but the 6D's images are dark.
Oh, sorry, I misunderstood.  That must be your exposure compensation.  Is it centered?

  • Color Settings: Getting colors in PS CC to match colors of the image when used as a Windows Background

or vice versa. I probably do not know enough to be able to ask the question properly.
The colors of photos in PS CC are not the same when used as a desktop background in Windows 7. The colors are somewhat more saturated when as a background on the desktop and while not totally unusable, it would be nice to have matching color between my PS editing screen and the photo as viewed as a desktop background.
The following are some conditions that may or may not be relevant to the answer of my following question.
1.) I am a complete novice to Color Management so a presumption of knowledge and the heavy use of jargon may not penetrate my head.
2.) I shoot with sRGB embedded in my photos.
    3.) My RAW conversions use sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1.
4.) My PS Color Settings are North American General Purpose 2 with sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1 as the working space and Intent as Relative Colormetric
    5.) In the Win 7 Control Panel>Color Management>Device, my Device = NEC LCD2690wuxi, ICC Profile = NEC LCD2690wuxi (default), file name = nl269wui.icm
6.) In the Win 7 Control Panel>Color Management>Advanced, Device profile = System Default sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1 and (everything else set to System Defaults too). The only difference from the PS Color Settings being that Windows is defaulted to Perceptual Intent, but a change in either PS or Win 7 has no effect on the relative color differences.
7.) The monitor is set to the Native internal preset, but the relative differences in color remain the same even if the monitor is changed to sRGB, or any other internal preset.
8.) I have Proof Setup set to Monitor RGB but none of the settings will match the Win 7 Background color.
Now, my question is this. How would you set up your color settings/profile in PS and/or Windows to match color between PS and the Windows desktop of Windows 7?

Nevermind. I didn't have Proof Colors checked.
