Photo Book text font incorrect in preview?

Help! I'm using two fontsin a photo book: papyrus for title and baskerville for all other text. In Aperture 3.4.5 everything is fine. When saving as a pdf or previewing to buy, the baskerville font is misaligned at the bottom and looks totally different. How do I correct this or is it a bug?
Thanks,
John

  • I am creating a Photo Book on iPhoto, when I previewed it, it appears a black strip on the border of each page, how can I solve this?

'm doing a photo book in iPhoto, when I do a preview I get an edge on the outside border of each sheet. The edge is small, and seems to be a repeatition of the cover page. I did a preview in PDF and then appears as a black or white line. Can anyone help?

    The photos is the book tray are sorted by date.  So to get them in the order you want you need to do this;
1 - group them in an album and manually sort in the order you want.
2 - select all and go to the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Date menu option.
3 - select a 1 minute time differential between photos and click OK.
4- add the photos to a book and they will be in the order you need.

  • Aperture book text placement moves on preview??

I'm running Aperture 3.1.1, made my first book. A large size, hardcover with dust jacket. Went to buy the book and did the preview of it. I have two lines of text on the cover, Title and Subtitle. They are both placed in their default location however when I do a preview of the book before you go to buy it, both lines of text move and are in different locations to the dust jacket and cover.
Apple's print people recommended I remove the .plist file which I did and it made no difference. I have tried everything! The only thing that seems to work is totally reset the page and go with it - but what's the point of that, I'm supposed to be able to customise the pages aren't I?
Any help would be really appreciated. I've searched the forums but can't find any problems similar!

    Here is the easy way....
Add a NEW text box. When the text box is selected the ''Set Text Style" button is enabled, so click on it and select the DUST JACKET COVER TITLE. Now delete all the text within the text box so that all is left are spaces (or it's empty).
Now, when you produce the book, the soft cover will have what ever is in this box (which means nothing if you deleted all the characters).
The other choices are SOFT COVER TITLE and COVER TITLE.
Using a combination of these choices you can control what titles appear and which don't.

  • Text(font) stays in preview mode.

    Hello,
I hope somebody knows how to fix this.
When you scroll fast in inDesign and go down a couple of pages inDesign applies some kind of standardfont to the text that you see so you can scroll faster(I guess it makes not having to load different fonts faster for scrolling).
The only problem I have is that some of my text stays in this standardfont and I can't change it.
The wierd thing is that it only applies every 2 other pages, so in example pages 1,2 are fine pages 3,4 have the standard thin no so readable font wich you can't change and pages 5-6 are fine again and so on.
I can't put in a new textbox because it will get the same effect and dragging text from a working page with good font applies the standard(?) textfont to it that looks like the same as when you are scrolling.
    Hoping for an answer.
    Greetings,
    Swifty.

  • Trouble with viewing font on spine of Photo book.  I can't find a way to view and edit the text which appears on the spine of the dustcover or the book itself when printed.

I can't find a way to view and edit the text which appears on the spine of the dustcover or the photo book itself.  When I preview the book it appears on the dustcover and the book, but not when I'm back in the creation or editing windows.  I've printed 4 books in a series and two spines are one font size, and two others are a different font size.  One of the books has a shortened title on the book spine.

The text on the spine will be the same text that is in the Title text box on the title page.  You can change the font and style of that text just like you change any text in Aperture. Aperture will size and center the spine text for you
If you want the content or the font and style  of the text to be different from your Title box text then you have to trick the program a bit.  Put the text that you want in the spine into the Title text box and then move that box to a place on the page where it will not be visible when printed ( Y coordinate -1.0 inches for example).  Don't move it too far away or it will be hard to get back to in order to make an edit.    Then make a new text box on the title page and put the text you want on the cover in that.  (Or make a book without text on the cover , but with text on the spine).
You are 100% correct in that you can not preview this unless you preview the printed book

  • Text disappears when previewing/ordering photo books - help!

I've made a photo book in iPhoto but when I try to preview it or convert to a pdf it gives me an error message and then creates the book without any text. I'm afraid to order it in case the problem appears in the final edition - the text is very important. Any ideas how to solve the problem?
I've ordered several photo books in the past and never had this problem.

Sorry to string out this thread but I have the answer. Apple provided me this information and it works. hope it helps your problem, too:
    1) Open iPhoto.
    2) Select the book from the Source list on the left.
    3) Choose Print from the File menu.
    4) Click the Preview button on the bottom left. This will create a portable document format (PDF) file and display the file using the Preview application.
    5) Verify that the text is displayed.
    6) If the text is displayed correctly, and if you are satisfied with the book, close the PDF file, return to iPhoto, and click the Buy Book button. You may skip the rest of these steps.
    7) If the text is not displayed, close the PDF file and quit iPhoto.
    8) While in the Finder, choose Home from the Go menu. Open the Library folder, then open the Preferences folder. Locate the file called "com.apple.iphoto.plist" and drag it to the desktop. This will reset the iPhoto preferences to the default settings.
(Please note that if the Library is located on a separate partition or hard disk, you may need to point iPhoto to the Library location when you reopen iPhoto. You can do this by holding Option while opening iPhoto.)
    9) Reopen iPhoto and preview the book using steps 2 through 5 above. If you are satisfied with the book, close the PDF file, return to iPhoto, and click the Buy Book button. Then drag com.apple.iphoto.plist to the trash, as it may have been causing the issue.

  • Korean text in photo book print (Aperture)

Hi, I want to know if Korean language text will be printed on my photobook created by Aperture.
To make this post helpful for others, is there any language not supported by Aperture/iPhoto?
FYI, I'm ordering from the United States.
    Thank you.

    The Print Product page
    http://www.apple.com/sg/aperture/resources/print-products.html
    says:
    Hardcover and softcover books.
Create a beautiful, one-of-a-kind hardcover book of your summer travel photos. Or a set of impressive softcover books of your work to give to clients. Aperture 3 makes it easy with 11 professionally designed themes. You can customise each template by resizing and repositioning the photo and text boxes, and create borders of any width or colour on photo boxes. For text, you can use any font, size or style, and design multicolumn text boxes. And the books are available in various sizes, from an extra-large 33-by-25.4-cm format to small books that fit in your pocket.
I take that to mean, you can use any font, that comes preinstalled by Apple.  Does your Korean font show, when you preview the page, as described here?
iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture
The preview is supposed to look exactly, as the printed book will look.

  • Preview your photo book as pdf before clicking on 'Buy Book'.

Hi, here is the learning from the recent problem I had with photo books.
I would suggest that you save your book as a pdf file, before ordering. Preview your pdf file, and when you are satisfied, submit your order.
Saving a book as a PDF file:
    1. Select the book in the Source list.
    2. Choose File > Print.
    3. Click Save As PDF
In particular, you can see how the text which looks OK in the iPhoto program will be truncated in the printing. Suggest they need to put this as a required step in the ordering process - at the moment it is not explicitly mentioned.

I created a pdf of a book in the three user controlled ways: 1 - via the Print and then save as pdf file; 2 - Right click in the book mode, selecting Preview and then saving and; 3 - Right clicking in the book mode and using the Save as PDF option.
All three gave me the same page size, 11 x 8.5.
Unfortunately iPhoto assembles and creates the pdf file after you click on the Buy Now button preventing the user from obtaining the temporary pdf file that is created for uploading and printing like we could in iPHoto 5. I suppose one could open the temp folder User/private/var/tmp/folders.501/iPhoto before clicking on that button, copy the book while it's getting uploaded and then quickly cancel the process or, if too late, go to the Apple order check page and cancel (must be done within an hour or so).
My philosophy is if there's critical information that close to the edge of the photo then I didn't take the photo correctly. Then put a 1/4" black border around it in PSE or PS and use that.

  • How can I fix the text in my photo book that reads"your default text had not been edited. Printed books will not include this text?"

How can I fix the text in my photo book that reads"your default text had not been edited. Printed books will not include this text?"

You will get this warning, if your book includes textboxes that still include the default text, like "Insert Title". You need to find these boxes and add your own text.  Look for boxes like this:
Make a PDF-preview of your book and look, where the preview differs from what you are seeing in iPhoto.

  • Incorrect Photo Book

I recently created and purchased a photo book through iPhoto as a christmas present for a close family member. While working on the book, I had to crop some of the pictures, including some with the recipiant in them, numerous times so that they would look the way they are supposed to. When I transfered the book to purchase it, everything looked perfect. When I received the book those pictures that needed to be cropped and re-cropped, were cropped incorrectly in the finished book. Also, some of the text is on the wrong page. Considering this is intended to be a present, I cannot give the book to the recipient if it is not correct.
My question is, what are my options now. Am I able to reprint the book at no cost, or will it cost me another $80 dollars to try to get one printed properly?

    Kerry:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You will need to contact Apple at http://www.apple.com/support/iphoto/customerservice/orderbooks/. You should get a refund. As for reprinting you'll have to resubmit the book. Here's what you can do to check the book before you send it on up to Apple. iPhoto creates a pdf file for uploading and printing. You can find and copy it and check it out for completeness and errors before completing the order.
How to Find the iPhoto Generated PDF File:
1 - Start the ordering process and stop after the book has been assembled and you get to the Order pane where you select the cover color, copies, etc.
2 - Go to the Finder and select the Go->Go to Folder menu item (CommandShiftG).
3 - copy the following, “/private/var/tmp/folders.501/TemporaryItems/iPhoto” (for Panther the path is ‘/private/tmp/501/TemporaryItems/iPhoto “), and paste into the Go to Folder search box.
4 - the iPhoto folder will be brought up. In it will be the PDF file that was generated by iPhoto. You can copy it (Option-drag) to the Desktop to review and/or save.
Note: the iPhoto folder will not exist before you start the ordering process and is deleted after the order is completed or after you cancel the order and quit iPhoto.
Hope this has been of some help. Good luck.

  • Can I print the photo book with any fonts?

I would like to print a photo book using iphoto. Is it possible to print this by using any fonts?

Don't get up your hopes, Old Toad . I never tried to buy a photo book from the iPad.
The documentation does not say much:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5037
It only mentions, that you can change the font size:
    Edit text on a page
Tap Projects, and tap the photo book to open it.
Double-tap the page containing the text you want to work with.
    Do the following:
Align the text: Tap the text box, and choose an alignment style from the menu that appears directly above the text box.
Choose the font size: Tap the text box, and tap the font size you want.
Make changes to the text: Double-tap the text box, and type.
No mention of the supported font. Probably the fonts will depend on the country of the Print Products Store you are using:
To change countries, tap at the top-left corner of the screen, and select another country from the list.

  • Creating photo book in previous version of iLife.  Text block outlines.

Creating photo book in previous version of iLife.  Want to leave the "default" photo information text block blank.  Can delete text, but block outline remains, albeit empty.  Will empty block outline print in final book?

The text block area will not show when the book is converted to a PDF file for uploading and printing.  Do as Terence suggested and create a PDF file of the book according to this Apple document, iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture, and check the book before ordering.  Keep the file to compare with the printed copy when you receive it.

  • I am trying to add text to the I photo book inside the which indicate the boundaries but a red  triangle has appeared. for             indicate the boundaries for such text, however there is a small red triangle appearing to say that I have too much text.

I am trying to add text to an I photo book project. I have entered the text inside the blue lines which indicate the boundaries but have got a red triangle showing I have exceeded the text. Any ideas please?

Check the font size, if it's just a little too close to the top of the box, it will reject it.

  • Change font for entire photo book?

    Hello,
I'm currently creating a new photo book in Aperture 3.4
I would like to change the font for the text boxes to something else.
Can this be done in one action/command?
Or is it possible to change the default font (and size) that is used?
I now have to change the font and size for every text box I want to use.
    Kind regards,
    emeu1

I have the same question: is there a way to globally change the font in a Aperture photo book?  Bumpity-bump-bump-bump.  Thank you.

I ordered a photobook, when I went to purchase it flashed up a warning about default text saying 'printed books will not include this text'.
Was really dissapointed when my photo book arrived with the default text printed. Will I have to return it? Or can I get some sort of discount? I don't live near a post office so I'd rather not have to return it.

Contact Apple support - they can answer that type of questions - we are just users here like yourself
BTW - it is best not to order when you have errors - to resolve that error place a single space in the subject text box
    and always
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
