Photo Booth Camera Distortion

When in photo Booth on my Mini, my camera (Creative Live! Cam Optia Pro) takes photos like this ::
When I open the iChat camera viewer and take profile pictures and any other picture taking time I have experienced, the camera is fine. I have reinstalled Leopard and still the same problem.

I have the exact same problem. Interestingly enough Photobooth 1.2 shows the proper video, however won't save any pictures (probably because I downloaded the Photo Booth 1.2 app and didn't do a proper install). I bought this camera for ichat and photobooth support....any options? Is there any way to get a proper install of 1.2 such that at least something works?!!?!

  • Photo Booth camera unavailable?

I recently wiped my mac and photo booth no longer works. The application comes up but the loading symbol just goes round and round for hours and nothing happens, even the little green light doesn't come on. At the top of the mac screen in photo booth>camera section it says 'no camera available' but when i open my FaceTime the light comes on and camera works. How can i fix my photo booth??

Make sure FaceTime and any other camera applications are not running.  Try booting in safe mode to see if Photo Booth works.  If it does not, you may need to reset the SMC (if the machine is older than 4 years), or reset the PRAM (if it is younger than 4 years).

  • Isight /photo booth Camera in use after downloading outside app

I downloaded some application for a hellokitty digi cam.
Now my photo booth wont open and my isight claims to be in use by another application.
I have tried deleting everything that could possibly be associated with the digital camera but nothing seems to work. how can I restart photo booth and get my camera to work?!

If resetting your SMC ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411 ) does not help, try the following in the order below:
    (1) If you "deleted" by dragging things to trash on your own, the first thing I suggest you try is to see if customer support or the documentation for the non-Apple Software you installed has an actual uninstaller or specific uninstall instructions. If it does, you may need to reinstall the software in order to allow the uninstaller to work properly. After you have carefully followed the uninstall instructions, restart your Mac, use Disk Utilities to repair permissions, and test to see if your problem is solved.
    (2) If not, or if you can find NO help on how to properly uninstall the software that caused your problem, restore your Mac's hard disk from the backup that you made immediately before installing "hellokitty digi cam."
    (3) If you do not already have such a backup, backup all your MacBook's (MB's) important info now, erase your MB's hard disk, and reinstall its OS and applications software. Then, restore your data from your backup.
The last option will be a lot of work, but it should get rid of your MB's cat allergy.
Please let us know how it goes and what works. We will watch for your status update.

  • Photo booth camera not conected

I keep getting "camera disconected " in photo booth i leave the computer in sleep mode most of the time.I have to restart, for the camera to work again then it disconects itself when photo booth has not been used for a while ?

Any other camera applications such as iChat open?  I think the camera is attached to the USB bus, do you have any non-Apple devices connected to the USB bus that may not like the power drain of Energy Saver after it turns on (i.e. the machine goes to sleep)?  This can cause cascading issues down the whole USB bus.

  • Photo Booth Camera Resolution after taking photo

Sometimes after I take a photo using photo booth that has an effect like the roller coaster, the image being displayed from the camera has an awful red tinge to it. I have to shut down photo booth and start it back up again to get the image it is capturing to be acceptable. I thought it might be my imac (brand new) so I went back to a apple store and tried it on one of theirs and got the same problem. Any ideas??

  • Photo Booth camera light

Approximately one in ten times that I turn on my new MacBook, the green camera light is on. If I open Photo Booth the camera screen is green. I then turn off the computer and re-start. Sometimes that solves the problem. Sometimes the light is still on. I then unplug the power cord, remove the battery, then replace the battery. After I restart, the light is off, and Photo Booth works.
For $2000, this ought not to happen.

    matthewjp,
What programs do you have running on startup?
Are there any that might be accessing the hardware such as emulators, video editors, or photo capture software?

  • Photo Booth Camera Icon Crossed Out

I have one of the most recent MacBooks. All of a sudden Photo Booth isn't working. There's a crossed out camera icon and I can't take pictures. How do I get it back?

First thing to do is reset PRAM
    ■ Shut down your computer. Turn the computer back on and immediately hold down Command-Option-P-R, continuing to press until you hear the startup sound for the second time. This resets the computer’s parameter random-access memory (PRAM).
IMPORTANT: Resetting PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings.

  • Photo booth - camera used by another application

Photo Booth suddenly gives the message that it is in use by another application - I have never used it in any other application nor is any other application running - using "user friendly" language, please tell me how to get this running again. The only new application I have installed is the program for my broadband connection (Verizon) - I don't know if the problem started at this time since I had not used it around that time. If this caused it, how to I get it to work again?

  • Photo Booth Camera stopped working

When I installed the OS from the installs CD and launched the computer the photobooth built in camera turned on. As soon as I installed the files from choosing software update the camera stopped working. Is anyone else having this problem? If so how do I fix it?
Seems like a driver or software conflict.
    Help????

Found out that the problem occurrs when I hook my Canopus ADVC Analog to Digital box. For some reason it turns off my built in photobooth camera.

  • Why can't Photo Booth give me continuous video on a USB camera?

How can I get continuous video on a USB camera with PhotoBooth?

Do you have the movie box checked?

  • Accidentally deleted photo booth (and other preinstalled apps) on ipad

I think my little one deleted FaceTime, Photo Booth, Camera, and a couple other apps on our new iPad. How can I get them back?

I'm puzzled why Time Machine didn't work.  You can open the Photo Booth app from the applications folder in Time Machine ( it took a long time for the folder to start operating, but after about a minute wait the applications folder worked just like the on on the current desktop) from your last good system.  You don't have to completely restore the whole system.  Just open the app in the Time Machine folder, and you should be good to go.  I accidentally deleted Photo Booth yesterday, and restored it today by opening the app from Time Machine of a few days ago.

    Hello, Christopher
As you know, CamTwist is third-party software, not an Apple Product.
If you don't get what you need here in Discussions, see the CamTwist Developer's info here:
      http://allocinit.com/index.php?title=CamTwist
What CamTwist is, what it does, how it works, how to use it, and how to contact the developer if you need more specific information is all explained there.
From my quick review of the linked info, *CamTwist is intended to add capabilities to Mac video chats* rather than to Photo Booth, but you may find additional possibilities if you carefully review all of the documentation.

  • Dear Apple, why not SIMPLY bring Photo Booth and Facetime together?

    Dear Apple,
as I was going through your Website I noticed that FaceTime and PhotoBooth are very similar. I don't know how these two are built, but ins't this a great idea bring them together? Because I don't see any problems. And how about having iChat integrated like Windows Lync (Coorporate Communicator)?

    Hi,
In actual fact iChat came first.
It had Video Effects before Photo Booth came out and could/can take snapshots of the Preview pic or the chat.
Face Time at one level (visually) is a much simpler app all round.
It does one job.  Connecting Video chats on a 1-to-1 basis.
iChat can connect to Jabber servers and/or use the AIM Network (i.e Screen Names and IDs from other servers)
    Face Time uses Apple IDs
Face Time also uses port 5223 the same as Jabber servers do (Jabber servers use this for Login).
Currently an MobileMe name ending in @me.com is:-
    1)  an Apple ID  (Access to Communities with an Alias, iTunes, On Line Store, MacApp Store and so on)
    2) A Working Email
    3) a Valid Screen Name with the AIM Service (providing your password is 16 characters or less (AIM Limit)
    4) a Face Time Name. (re 1) )  (Listed only to stress the point)
    A @mac.com name is:-
    1) a valid AIM Screen Name (Same password Restrictions)
    2) An Apple ID  (There was a time when names could be registered after MobileMe  was launched, up to about 6 months ago when the Apple ID part was Optional)
    3) May be a working email if linked to an MobileMe account at the Mobile Me launch.
An Apple ID  can be any other name, most likely an email address that has been used to register in any of the places in 1) in the Mobileme bit.
If an Email was used this way it cannot be linked to a new Apple ID (Such as an @mac.com registration for iChat or Face Time)
There would be some use in Face Time having a Jabber server so that Face Time to iChat could be done.
(It remains to be seen how many would wish to add Jabber as well as having an AIM (Valid) name in iChat.
iChat and Face Time can in fact access the camera at the same time (the only two apps that I know can do this without the Camera in Use message).
There might be a call for Video effects in Fact Time but this may be beyond the processor capabilities of iOS devices.
All in all linking Photo Booth and Face Time would only recreate iChat.

  • Air - How to fix distorted colors in camera after using Photo Booth's effects.

In Skype, Facetime, in every app, which use camera, colors are wrong and noisy.
Choosing standart lens in Photo Booth has no effect, colors're still wrong.
I suppose that some effet was somehow maxed up with standart lens.
    How to reset camera effects?

Here's a photo taken with a cam, using standart lens in Photo Booth:

  • Web cam is very sluggish with Photo Booth

    Hi,
I'm on the new 24", 2.4 Ghz iMac and most everything works consistently and well, but I'm getting concerned about the internal Webcam.
From time to time I go into Photo Booth just to check things out. More than once, I have gotten a green screen with no Webcam working. And last time, I even had a green screen and the camera/Webcam green light was on at the top of the iMac. I tried taking a photo and I got a green square (surprise!).
Usually, if I quit the photo booth application and restart it, eventually the Webcam will come on and I can see myself etc.
But I worry that this is a possible defect. What if down the road I need this Webcam and ooops! too late to claim any warranty.
Has anyone else had this problem?
    Many Thanks, Frank B.

Hi, ah the green screen issue! from what I remember a few pepe's had this issue with the white iMac c2d.. From memory-Repair Permissions & Reboot. If that fails do the SMC reset thing. A great addition to the iSight App is iGlasses ->http://www.ecamm.com/mac/iglasses/settings.html ....L
