Photo Booth Disappeared... I know this has been discussed before...

My Photo Booth Icon is gone, its not in applications or the trash, nor does it come up in spotlight.
I checked my backup, and the file must have been gone for some time, because it is not in the backup either...
Now the really fun part, I do not have my install DVD... so I cannot get it there or with pacifist.
I found a link to download it, and the zip file opens and the photo booth icon appears, but it crashes when opening... so probably an old or corrupt download.
Are there any other suggestions you guys can give me? Or another place to re-download a current copy? OR... If I take it to the Genius Bar, can they reload from an install DVD they might have?
Thanks much.

the main suggestion is to get an install dvd. what happened to yours? you need to have one.

  • So, I know this has been asked before. But, has anyone heard from Apple?

So, I know this has been asked before, but I'm just looking to see if anyone had heard from Apple on this at all. The minimum volume on my iPod Classic 160gb is too high, and I can't lower it. (AKA when I kill the volume, I can still hear music).
I called them today, but the rep was pretty useless. He even dropped the "well, just press pause" line on me. Took him a while to understand that when I'm in bed or studying, etc. the minimum volume is too loud, and I wanted to be able to set it lower.
The best workaround I've found so far is to buy headphones with their own volume control, but I just can't help but feel that someone shouldn't have to by additonal gear after buying this thing on account of such a basic feature exclusion.
Anyways, thanks for any help !

    Wow, easy there company boy!
I've heard all of what you spit up before.  And for your point of "Well, in several cases, people have complained (here in these discussion pages), that they expect the volume to be zero when turned to minimum position" that kind of ties in to why Apple should fix this.
And yeah....it's pretty much a given that "you and I have different interpretations of what constitues too loud" This is where the option to adjust the minimum volume comes in to play.  (I relly feel bad for you. Honestly. Having to live everyday of your life this way must be just brutal)
The wording would be pretty simple too. " Be aware there are many instances of the minimum volume being too loud, so think twice before dropping a few hundred bucks on this"
And, you're right. It is horrible to 'whine' about being ripped off and asking if there is a possible fix for the issue. I really do apologize for that. I should just suck it up and not voice my opinion that this is not fair to consumers, and Apple shouldn't fix a known issue with a product.
I did reset & restore, I figured that was pretty much implied since I said I spoke to Support.
And I am not at all surprised that you would say "I - for one - am not surprised that Apple might say, "simply hit the pause button"."  Again, I don't want it on muteReading your post made my eye twitch at least three times.
This is exactly the reason I was resitant to post on a forum. But, I got a good laugh anyways. Thanks guy!

  • I know this has been asked before But I Deleted 6 mths worth of Bookmark folders, Cant use Undo,

I know this has been asked before But I Deleted 10 mths worth of Bookmark folders, Cant use Undo & havent backed up (live & learn) Someone posted do a restore from "Import & Backup" My listing in Restore is only 2010-6-29 back to 2010-6-22. Is this the way to go to retrieve as much as possible or is there another solution?

Those dates are when a backup was automatically made by Firefox, not dates when you saved specific bookmarks. Try restoring the backup from the day before you deleted all those bookmarks. It will restore the entire backup file - not just what you deleted, you will lose any bookmarks that you saved after the date of the file you restore.

i know i know! many people have posted about this. i have been working with this error for quite a time now and i was happily waiting for apple to solve this. there is still no change and it is getting VERY annoying that apple is not doing something about it!
is there any plan that this error will be removed or will it stay forever?

The continuing issue of this login error has been an on-going discussion in "The Lounge". The Hosts are very much aware of it, so all of us need to be patient.

  • I know this has been asked before...

After about nine months, my Northbridge chipset fan has gone from simply noisy to an irritating vibration.  I know that the Zalman Fanmate 2 will slow it down to 5000 rpm, but it sounds like the fan is on its way out.  I'm reluctant to spray it with WD 40 because I don't want to remove the fan unless I'm going to replace it.  I did e-mail tech support at MSI and they probably will send me a new fan.  What are some other good aftermarket options?  I appreciate any advice that people can offer.  BTW, other than the fan, I've had no problems with the board, which is about as good as you can get without going to SLI.

Will it fit on the Neo-4 Platinum?  It seems to me that I have a few options here:
    (1)  Buy a Zalman Fanmate 2 and turn down the fan.  It used to run regularly at 7,670 RPM, but lately, it's running at 8,000 RPM+ and is rattling things.  Yet, Speedfan says the temp of the Northbridge is 17 or 18C, so it's not overheating.
    (2)  Buy a general four channel fan controller.  I like the Zalman that fits in the 3.5 bay, but my case has a plastic door that closes, so I may need one with just push buttons.  Any advice on that is appreciated.  The problem with that idea is that the back fan is a 120mm Antec Smartcool and the front is the Antec 120mm that came with the case set on medium.
    (3)  Buy a Vantec Iceberg copper heatsink and fan, some Arctic Silver 5 and the Arctic Silver clean kit, pull the motherboard out (next time I get the case with a removable motherboard tray) and install it.
    (4)  Buy this(http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=872908&CatId=99) or (http://www.quietpcusa.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?&DID=8&User_ID=760103&st=7443&st2=-49144413&st3=35057438&Product_ID=91&CATID=5), cut some pins off with my Dremel Moto-Tool and install.
    (5)  Buy this (http://www.quietpcusa.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?&DID=8&User_ID=760103&st=7443&st2=-49144413&st3=35057438&Product_ID=359&CATID=5), cut some pins off--probably still won't fit though--and install.
My video card just clears the Northbridge but probably can be worked around.  Next to it I put an Antec blue LED cyclone blower to help keep the card, and the system, cool.  On high, it's still not that loud.  Even with two 120mm Antec fans, the system still hits 41C during gaming.  Thanks for the advice so far guys.

  • I know this has been addressed before can some explain in layman terms ...

    error -2048
There have been multiple topics on this subject but not really an answer that a non-audio techi type person.
I concerns creating a MP4 project in excess of 2gigs.
The main answers I have seen are do not use Fat 32 below are my specs:
    AMD 64x2 6000+
    500g Maxtor USata HD
    NTSF file system
    Windows XP Pro
    2g Ram
    8800 GTX video Card
    Qtime v7.1.6
    Qtime player v 7.1.6
    Itunes v7.1.1.5
If someone can PLEASE explain why this error happens in files over 2gigs and if it is a hardware issue or QT issue.
I have tried to create in mpeg4 (640x480) and I have tried to create the project in H.264 Itunes or Quick time will not recognize the format and neither will VLC. If I try to create the project at a lower resolution (non-640x480) it is recognizable.
Any help again is GREATLY APPRECIATED. I am just looking for an answer that a layman can understand.
    Thanks,
    B

QuickTime Player has only one file size limit and that is 4GB's for MPEG-2 files. No limit on other file extensions (in theory). I've made projects up to 100GB's (slow to open but work just fine).
Your NTFS file system is best for large file sizes.
    FAT 16 has a 2GB limit. FAT 32 has a 4GB file size limit.
Something else is causing your -2048 error message. Check your file name for illegal characters and the drive itself for errors or damage.

  • I know this has been posted before. - Deleted but it dosnt help me.

    Hi there guys
In a flurry of activity my GF deleted my isync while we are on holiday,
I am a bit stuck I know there is a way to get Isync to work using pacifist and the install DVD. However my phone is pretty trashed and looking like it is gonna pack up any day, I should have sorted it before we left but now im a 1000 miles away and need to get Isync back ? is there anywhere i can download it? even an old pack?
    Thanks

iSync is not downloadable separately for Mac OS X 10.4 and later.
If you download the latest Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Updater from Apple (the huge one), you might be able to extract and install the latest iSync from that using Pacifist.
This is not guaranteed to work, because OS X Updates don't always include all files needed to completely restore an application, but you may be lucky as iSync was updated from v2.0 to v2.4 during the 10.4 to 10.4.11 updates.

  • I know this has been asked before, but...

I'm having trouble converting a mono audio track to a stereo one. I know you're supposed to extract the audio and open it in QT and export it in stereo, but it doesn't seem to be working. I'm selecting "Export: Sound to AIFF" and "Use: 44.1kHz Stereo." I know I've successfully done this before, but I can't seem to do it this time. Any help? Thanks.

    Jeff,
Is the problem that you only have sound coming out of one speaker? If so, you've already got stereo. It's just that your audio is only on one of the two tracks in your stereo pair.
So what you really need to do is export to mono.

  • System Fonts. I know this has been discussed, but...

I need to use Tahoma in muse and I do NOT want it to rasterize for the sake of cleanliness and good SEO. I don't understand why I can't just specify a backup font for people who may not have Tahoma. When I designed in dreamweaver I would just set Tahoma as the primary then Arial or serif as the backup and that worked fine. My company has chosen Tahoma for ALL of our documents, internal and external. Please tell me there's a workaround for this that doesn't involve getting hurt mentally or physically.
    Thanks

    Hi,
There is no workaround short of manually editing the CSS after Muse exports it. Since you've used Dreamweaver in the past, this may be doable for you (one tip: using paragraph styles will make your job easier). Of course, you'll have to do this every time you change something and re-export.
    Background:
The set of web-safe fonts exposed in Muse were carefully chosen based on how universally available they are. Secondly, the set of fonts in a Muse web-safe font stack such as 'Arial, Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, sans-serif' are similar enough that swapping one for the other will not cause much noticeable layout changes. Making it all too easy to create arbitray font stacks is fraught with risk: both in terms of universality and the potential for layout changes.

...but I can't find it. I'm having the %20 issue.
If I go to the inspector and change the name to take
out the space, it changes the appearance in the
navigation menu. Is there another way to do this?
Yes, forget the iWeb navbar and make your own navigation menu using ordinary hyperlinks. (There's no way to make the navbar items different from the page names without post-publication modification).

  • I know this has been posted before....red light

i have looked around the forum but i can't find any solution to this problem, i have the red light shining out of my headphone socket - i also have no audio coming out of my speakers and when i press the mute button the speaker icon comes up but with no bars beneath it. When i plug my headphones in i then get audio, but as reccomended in other posts putting headphones does not permenantly solve the problem. In other posts there was something about adjusting preferences in the control panel (where's the control panel)
the red light looks cool but i would much rather audio, thanks

first.... plug the headphones in, then wiggle the jack a little and that should give you audio back.....
second.... sys prefs are 4th down from the apple logo (top left of your screen)...
third..... take your comp to an apple store or call applecare to get your hw repaired..

  • Ok I know this has been asked before but....

OK AFTER I MADE MY OWN RINGTONE AND THEN DRAG IT OVER TO MY IPHONE....I SEE IT IN MY RINGTONE FOLDER BUT IN THE IPHONE UNDER SETTING IT DOESNT SHOW AND I ALSO HAVE TWO OF THE SAME RINGTONES THAT WAS ALREADY THERE!!!!
IM TOOOOO LOST I BEEN FOOLING AROUND WITH IT FOR LIKE 3HR NOW TRYING DIFFERENT THINGS....WHAT AM I DOING WRONG??
    PLEEEEEEASE HELP!!

Well since the only official way for ringtones is to buy them, it is hard for us to help you since you really didn't tell us how you tried to circumvent the only officially supported way.
And as mentioned, turn off caps lock.

  • I know this has been discussed alot but...phone does not see wifi

Yet, the free app, ewifi sees 8 networks...ive dont all the troubleshooting suggested by apple with no effect.
So to sumarize, if i go to my wifi settings, it sees no networks. If i load ewifi it sees many and i can connect to them at will.
Have tried all the resets suggested by apple, and i do have a mac address for the wifi in the "about" screen

You might try switching to another channel on your router and switching from g/b to b only. It worked recently for one guy here:
