Photo Booth Files Location

Seriously. Anyway around how photo booth ALWAYS saves it's files in Users/user/Pictures?
I have my main pictures linked up to drobbox (WHICH ROCKS for syncing!! :D) but photobooth (a great app that I like using). maybe i should just bypass photo booth and use evernote..hhmm.
anyways, I want to change the destination folder of that. You can pick iWeb's destiation.
it's irritating how some apple products you can't change the file destination. not having control over that.

There's always a way
Close Photo Booth.
Create a folder called "Photo Booth" in your drop box.
Move all photos from /User/yourusername/Pictures/Photo Booth in that new folder.
Delete /User/yourusername/Pictures/Photo Booth
Create a symlink in place of the default save location pointing to the folder you created above.
To do that, open Terminal.
Type the following (copy/paste it, might prevent typos) each line followed by enter:
cd Pictures/
ln -s ../Public/Drop\ Box/Photo\ Booth/ Photo\ Booth
You might want to create a backup of your home folder before messing around in the shell.

  • How do I convert a photo booth file to an AVI or MP4?

How do I convert a photo booth file to an AVI or MP4?
I tried exporting the file from Quick Time to my desktop, but the file extension reads as .m4v - is that compatible with other pc?

The M4V format is a video file format developed by Apple and is very close to the MP4 format. The differences are the optional Apple's DRM copyright protection, and the treatment of AC3 (Dolby Digital) audio which is not standardized for the MP4 container.
If your M4V video is not unprotected M4V files and without AC3 audio. It may be recognized and played by other video players by changing the file extension from ".m4v" to "mp4".
So you can try to change the file extension and check if it works. If it doesn't work, try Leawo video converter(for windows or mac) and convert m4v to mp4 format.

  • Photo Booth files automatically appearing in iPhoto also missing??

The missing effects in Photo Booth have been well documented elsewhere (ie R2D2 hologram) but the ability for Photo Booth files to automatically appear in iPhoto also seems to be missing?! Or am I just being stupid?
I googled it, and found a link that said
“In Leopard, Photo Booth files automatically appear in your iPhoto library”
but the page it took me to no longer existed.
Another incredibly useful function that was pulled before it shipped??
    Can anyone shed any light?

Anyone have any ideas about this? Do you think it will show up in 10.5.2?

  • Transferring photo booth files/pics ?

i want to transfer my photo booth images to my new macbook, i understand that the system creates a photo booth album in the pictures folder of the home folder and every photo taken in photo booth on that machine will be saved there, but what if i have some photo's taken on photo booth on my old machine and i want them on the new machine, but i dont just want them in the photo booth folder (which would be a drag and drop job) but i also want them to be displayed in the actual photo booth application itself in the roll along the bottom as the ones taken on the new machine are
is there a folder where the thumbnail/.thm images are stored like in iphoto?
    hope this isn't confusing
    any help much appreciated

The only way to get photo booth to recognize the new photos is by using the same file name of a photo already in the folder. For example: you have 10 photos you want to put in the new photo booth. They all have file names like Photo 1, Photo 2, etc. You have to first make a photo with the new photo booth - files will then be created and they also have file names like Photo 1, Photo 2, etc. You need to change the name of the photo files you want to appear in the new photo booth to match the photo files already there and replace them when you copy into the new photo booth folder.
Another option if you have a lot of photos- although you should have a backup of all the photo booth files before modifying anything because it could crash the new photo booth application and make it not open any more.... You need to copy the entire photo booth photos folder to the new computer (from username/pictures). You also need to copy the Recents.plist file from username/library/application support/photo booth into the same folder on the new computer.

  • Photo Booth Files Misplaced

i took a video using photo booth then moved the video to a different location and forgot where i moved it to (trying to hide the video) is there a way to find this video that was created by photo booth without knowing the name of it if so please detail

It seems that you certainly successfuly hid your movie!
Search using Spotlight.  Videos recorded with Mac OS X 10.8.2's Photo Booth are named "Movie" (without quote marks) plus the date & time.  Example: "Movie on 2012-11-25 at 23.31" Search for as much of the name as you remember.
The search is easier if you know at least the date.  If not, search for "Movie" without anything else and then look at each one to find the one that is NOT in your Photo Booth folder.
    • If your 10.5.8 Photo Booth version used a different first word naming convention, search for that.
    • If you moved the file outside your User Folder, or if you have used System Preferences... to modify where Spotlight may search, Spotlight may not be able find where you put it.  In that case, use Finder > Go > Computer to open a finder window and search your entire hard drive for "Movie". This list you must review manually may be much longer, but it might find your file (along with many others.)

  • Desktop photo has file location

    Hi
my mac desktop image has its file location accross the front of the screen and i dont know how to remove it
i have been in to the apple shop and they didnt know how to remove it either
    thanks David

If you change the desktop image, does the displayed filename change too, or is it only that one image that is affected?
If it's just that image, if you open it in Preview, does it have the file path burned into it?
Do you have a third-party utility that's doing this? Reboot with the shift key held down - any change?
Check your Login Items in System Preferences, and any items under your Library/LaunchAgents, Library/LaunchDaemons and Library/StartupItems folders.

  • IPhoto Crashes with Photo Booth Share

Brand new iMac (less than 2 weeks old) running Lion.
My daughter is having lots of fun with Photo Booth, but whenever we try to "share" (add to iPhoto), iPhoto opens and then promptly crashes.
After that, whenever we try to open iPhoto directly, it says there's a photo that needs to be imported.  Regardless of whether I say yes or no to importing the image, iPhoto crashes.
After each crash, a new recovered file folder appears in my pictures directory.
I did figure out how to get iPhoto to work again by finding and removing the Photo Booth file that is trying to be imported.  But I was hoping someone could give me a heads up as to why brand new software on a brand new computer isn't working and whether there is a fix.
    Thanks.

The fact that a computer is "brand new" doesn't make a whit of difference. Software doesn't suffer from wear and tear and problems are as likely on the first day you use it as they are on the last.
As to the fix... you say you did fix the problem and can get iPhoto to work, didn't you?

  • Photo booth; how do I make a video?

It was my understanding that with a macbook you could use photo booth to take videos, not just pictures. I am SO frustrated. How do I do this?

    nicoleaa,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Open Photo Booth. When the window opens, you will see three icons near the bottom of the window on the left side. Click on the one that looks like a clipping from an old film reel. Then click on the red "Record Movie" button, or select Photo Booth>File>Record Movie.
    ;~)

  • Photo Booth Pictures File Location?

Upgraded to Mavericks and I can't find any of the picture files from Photo Booth. Previously they were in User/Pictures/PhotoBooth
But now that folder is empty.
If I open up "Photo Booth Library" I can see the pictures within photobooth. But not the file location. Also, some of my photos

If you'd like to be able to access the photos in any way other than just in FINDER, ie: to upload them on webforms, and other apps, then you can do this
    open Terminal
    type:
    cd Pictures
    ln -s Photo\ Booth\ Library/Pictures/ PhotoBoothPics
this will create a folder called PhotoBoothPics  that is a link to the photobooth library, and is accessible to attach to email, etc, and will always have all your pics

  • Corrupt Quicktime files from Photo Booth

I am looking for a Quicktime Repair tool for Mac OS X. Preferably one that can re-write / repair quicktime headers and verify video frame data.
My 4 year old was making some videos of himself using Photo Booth .. my wife and I happened to discover them a few nights ago and were laughing like mad.. was really cute and funny.
So you can imagine our disappointment when I logged in today to move them to a safe location, and couldn't see them in Photo Booth. Inside the filesystem, I show a number of .MOV files, but none of them play. Quicktime reports "The movie could not be opened. The file is not a movie file." Seven of Fourteen movie files in the folder are like this.
When I try to open it in VLC I get a more detailed message in the message log (i've snipped it down for the purpose of posting)
    access_file debug: opening file `/Users/family/Movies/kids/Movie 36.mov'
main debug: using access2 module "access_file"

mp4 debug: file type box missing (assuming ISO Media file)
mp4 error: MP4 plugin discarded (no moov box)
I loaded the file up in 0xED (a Hex Editor) and the raw file header in the BAD files look like:
    ... mdatftypftypftypftypftypftypftyp....wide....mdat h.......
while a GOOD file header look something like
    ... ftypqt ....qt ......................wide...smdat h .....
It looks corrupt to me. I'd like to think that only the header is corrupt, and the video data is still fine ... I was curious if anyone had anything to assist?
The only other thing I could think about doing was hexediting the headers, swapping good headers for the bad ones (since the videos from Photo Booth share the same dimension, FPS, etc)

Was this problem ever solved? I've got a similar one.

  • Deleted my photo booth recents.plist file

    hey
so i was thinking i would try n import back my old photo booth pictures that managed escaped, back into the app. after reading the forums it seems i need a file 'recents.plist', but i dont have it?
some people have said it automatically comes back... mine, as it appears, has not?
what do i dooo? how do i get'em back in?
    cheers
    L o u i sss

    There is a
    com.apple.recentitems.plist
but nothing simply named "recents.plist" at least on my computer.
It would not have any files in it anyway, only the name and location.
If you look through "All Images" in the Finder Sidebar, you will see any and all images on your computer.
If you know the approximate date, you can narrow down the search.
They will most likely be named as such:
    Photo 5.jpg, Photo 6.jpg
    and so on.

  • IPod photo cache file - how do I locate it?

    Hi all,
On my iPod nano I keep getting the "some of your photos were not copied because they cannot be displayed on your iPod" message, but the photo albums I am syncing do not contain the photo mentioned in the warning.
I have had a look around and noticed that one member said there is an iPod photo cache file that does not get updated. So, I want to delete that and then resync my iPod, in the hope that this warning message will not re appear. The problem is I don't know where it is located.
For the record, I have also recently restored my iPod using iTunes 7.1.1 and this still occurs.
    Thanks in advance,
    Anthony.

  • Quicktime file from Photo Booth not playing.

I recently restored a Photo Booth movie from Time Machine. After attempting to play it it read "The document “Movie on 2010-01-23 at 03.35” could not be opened. The movie is not in a format that QuickTime Player understands." I have no idea what this means. The file is reading as a Quicktime file.

    Hello,
did you try to open video clip from VLC or any other media player ?
    good luck

  • Find the file location of  picture using Photos app?

I could not find the original photo file location anymore using Photos app. Anybody?

I have the same question. In iPhoto I used the Menu command to "Locate in Finder," and if the image had been edited, I would have the choice of locating either the original file or the modified file.
In Photos I see there is a menu item File>Show Referenced File in Finder, but it hasn't been selectable for me from any view I've found so far, so I'm not confident it's even meant to do the same thing. I would like to get to my files outside of Apple's software, do I need to opt out altogether?

  • Recents.plist file in my User/Pictures/Photo Booth folder?

When I use PhotoBooth, a preference file named Recents.plist forms inside my User/Pictures/Photo Booth folder along with the picture. Why is this happening and can it be stopped?

Hello and thanks again BDAqua for writing. Yes, if I delete this Photo Booth Recent.plist file it will come back in the same place in my User/Photo Booth folder after I take another picture in Photo Booth. After deleting the one that was created earlier this morning, a Spotlight search shows no other file named Recents.plist anywhere on my HD. Spotlight also shows no entries named Photo Booth except the application itself and the one in my User/Pictures folder. I have no Photo Booth folder you describe to hold this preference file in my User/Application Support folder at all. The last four weekly clones I've taken also have no Photo Booth folder in that Application Support folder.
