Photo booth flash fails in Maverick
Since upgrading to Maverick the flash of Photo Booth flashes without result. All pcitures stay dark! Does anyone know why?
In case anyone is interested in your screen flash not working in the Yosemite or Maverick photo booth application, I finally called Apple today and he kept insisting it was working on his - I asked him to take a pic with the screen flash enabled and then disable it and he said it came out the same. And rationalized that it was because he was in a well lit room. I kept telling him in my old photo booth from system 10.6.8 that my face was lit up and my husband had reflections from his glasses so we went from him wanting me to reinstall my software (I refused since both computers were having the same problem - one using Yosemite and the other using Maverick) to him finally going into HIS partitioned disk that has system 10.6.8 on it to discover that the flash there reflected off HIS glasses too. Bottom line is he admitted there has to be some flaw that prevented the photo booth flash from working for Maverick and Yosemite. Whew, finally validation!

Photo Booth flash not working in Maverick or Yosemite
I have noticed that the photo booth flash in Maverick on my Macbook Pro and in Yosemite on my iMac is not working Screen flash is enabled on both.
So this is happening on two different computers. Does anyone know how to fix this? All my photos are so dark on both of my computers using Maverick and Macbook Pro.
It works fine on system 10.6.8 though.
Has anyone else had this problem too?

Photo Booth is freezing after Maverick upgrade. Any help?
Photo Booth has been freezing since I upgraded to Maverick yesterday. On my MacBook Pro, it shut it down. On my iMac, it did the same thing. Once I did manage to get it up again on the iMac, I got a spinning ball in less than 30 seconds, and then it just crashed.
On the MacBook Pro Retina Display, it crashes immediately — and, even then, the screen in Photo Booth is completely blacked out.
Any ideas?
ThanksDragging and dropping to a web-based email (gmail) makes the photo appear inside the message itself, and not as an attachment, which is what I wanted.

Is there a way to turn off the flash effect in Photo Booth? It really bugs me.
I'm with onigami. That's a lame answer from apple. There should be some prefs in photo booth. I look forward to the next update;) Meanwhile, any suggested apps that can do this?

Photo booth again fails after Update of System
A few months ago I found my Photo Booth stopped showing a camera picture after I upgraded with a System Update but then cured the problem after a simple Reboot.
Well the photo booth has again failed to operate following a recent Update of the OS and all I get is a blank screen. This time it won't kick start after a re boot. Is there any way to find out why it won't switch on its internal camera and cure it for good.
The saved snapshots will show in the photo booth but it's simply the "live" picture that won't work.
There is plenty of daylight in the room so it shouldn't be just a black screen should it?
Thanks
PladoI think I can pull this question off now. The system has wrong-footed me again.
It seems to be that when you have too many computers all calling upon the same wireless broadband connection in the one building, the DNS or something gets choked.
I switched off the router the modem the wireless and the main desktop pc
I then rebooted them all. After it was all up and running I turned on the MacBook and connected via the usual AirPort and both Google Earth and PhotoBooth were running as sweet as a nut.
It seems all too easy to think the Macbook has got itself in a twist when in fact it's just responding to a tired and emotional broadband connection that has lost its bandwidth due to over crowded usage.
I'll close this question now.
Sorry to alert anyone.

Photo Booth Not Working in Mavericks Updated Needed
Okay, so I am usually a pretty good user and I keep my computer updated and am careful of 3rd party installs. Today, I tried to use Photo Booth and then received the famous error message that many have mention. Photo Booth can't save photos. I really don't feel as though I need to do a completer reinstallation of the OS for one application. Please send out an update to fix the issue.

Photo Booth & Preview Fail to Open
All,
I have noticed that Photo Booth and Preview have stopped working. When I try and open them they both bouncy in the Dock once and then stop. I get no errors or crash reports. Plain and simply refuse to open. If I want to view any images I need to use other programs.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
MattYou need to post this on the Using Mac OS X forum for the version of the OS that you have. Can't point you more specifically as you don;t say what OS you have.

Photo Booth - flash adjustable ???
Is it possible to turn off the monitor Flash when taking pictures? Or perhaps
tone down the brightness of the flash.
When i have enough light in the room, the picture on the monitor looks fine but when i take a picture and that big white screen flashes bright.. i look all pale and unnatural. I tried turning down the brightness of my monitor, but the flash still gets pretty bright.
Thanks
wonderrIf you do not get a better answer, my first suggestion would be that you try adding more room light or a lamp on your face. The problem is more likely the "color temperature" of the light you are using rather than the quantity of light. A "warmer" (normal tungsten filament) light bulb should make you look more natural. (It may make you look orange if it is too close and too direct to your face.)
Although I think the previous suggestion is the better one, you can also try the following ideas if the first one does not resolve your problem.
Move your iMac so you can try making a picture with you sitting in sunlight. If the color is still wrong, I suggest you have your local Apple Service Technician for a professional check. Your display or your iSight may have color balance problems.
Check your Blue Apple > System Preferences > Color to verify that your Display Profile: is set to the correct preset profile. A need to calibrate or adjust your monitor's color too much may also indicate that your new iMac needs to be checked by your Apple Service Technician. -
Flash not working in photo booth.
The flash in photo booth on my iMac is not working. When I take a pic, the screen flashes but the pic is still dark. Was working fine yesterday. I did install the latest osx today. That's the only changes since then.

Can I turn off photo booth's "flash"?
Anybody know? I have a lamp beside me and the lighting is much nicer without the FLASH. Can I turn it off?
Welcome to Apple Discussions, Kerwin Kaye
If the Photo Booth flash is bothering you and the tips above have not helped enough, you can try the ultimate solution. Cover all or part of your display screen with some opaque material such as cardboard or heavy cloth.

Few problems with this photo booth only out of Yosemite:
It appears to pause the video when not in use, also it appears to be putting my computer to SLEEP, after that.
Is there any way to disable this new "feature"?
Is there an alternative to Photo booth that is free?
This new "feature" is making the app useless for my purposes.

I have a mac mini 16GB ram logitech webcam that works awsome but i want to use photo booth 6 in os mavericks effects such as the moving backgrounds i step out of the frame and it still says too much motion in background????
I just ordered an isight camera off of ebay hoping that this will solve the problem which i doubt, searched everywhere for an answer but cant find one.
Any help would be appericiated,
Thank You AllIf your background is not moving, perhaps you camera is not on a rock-steady platform.
Neither the camera NOR THE BACKGROUND can move for these effects to work their best. -
IS there a way that I can turn off the flash that happens when i take pictures with photo booth?
I was also wondering if the camera records video?
Thank you!Hello Sarah CMac
To disable Photo Booth flash, hold shift while you click.
BTW, holding option disables the seconds countdown. You can use both at once if desired.
Photo Booth 2 that comes with Leopard adds video recording with "effects" and sound. If you do not want to upgrade to Leopard, you can use WebcamTweaker for "effects" videos or any of the apps that can record video or movie clips from this list of Some Applications You Can Use With iSight for video without Photo Booth's "effects."
