Photo Booth Flash

Is there a way to turn off the flash effect in Photo Booth? It really bugs me.

I'm with onigami. That's a lame answer from apple. There should be some prefs in photo booth. I look forward to the next update;) Meanwhile, any suggested apps that can do this?

  • Photo Booth flash not working in Maverick or Yosemite

I have noticed that the photo booth flash in Maverick on my Macbook Pro and in Yosemite on my iMac is not working Screen flash is enabled on both.
So this is happening on two different computers. Does anyone know how to fix this? All my photos are so dark on both of my computers using Maverick and Macbook Pro.
It works fine on system 10.6.8 though.
Has anyone else had this problem too?

In case anyone is interested in your screen flash not working in the Yosemite or Maverick photo booth application, I finally called Apple today and he kept insisting it was working on his - I asked him to take a pic with the screen flash enabled and then disable it and he said it came out the same. And rationalized that it was because he was in a well lit room. I kept telling him in my old photo booth from system 10.6.8 that my face was lit up and my husband had reflections from his glasses so we went from him wanting me to reinstall my software (I refused since both computers were having the same problem - one using Yosemite and the other using Maverick)  to him finally going into HIS partitioned disk that has system 10.6.8 on it to discover that the flash there reflected off HIS glasses too. Bottom line is he admitted there has to be some flaw that prevented the photo booth flash from working for Maverick and Yosemite. Whew, finally validation!

  • Photo Booth - flash adjustable ???

Is it possible to turn off the monitor Flash when taking pictures? Or perhaps
tone down the brightness of the flash.
When i have enough light in the room, the picture on the monitor looks fine but when i take a picture and that big white screen flashes bright.. i look all pale and unnatural. I tried turning down the brightness of my monitor, but the flash still gets pretty bright.
    Thanks

If you do not get a better answer, my first suggestion would be that you try adding more room light or a lamp on your face. The problem is more likely the "color temperature" of the light you are using rather than the quantity of light. A "warmer" (normal tungsten filament) light bulb should make you look more natural. (It may make you look orange if it is too close and too direct to your face.)
Although I think the previous suggestion is the better one, you can also try the following ideas if the first one does not resolve your problem.
Move your iMac so you can try making a picture with you sitting in sunlight. If the color is still wrong, I suggest you have your local Apple Service Technician for a professional check. Your display or your iSight may have color balance problems.
Check your Blue Apple > System Preferences > Color to verify that your Display Profile: is set to the correct preset profile. A need to calibrate or adjust your monitor's color too much may also indicate that your new iMac needs to be checked by your Apple Service Technician.

  • Flash not working in photo booth.

The flash in photo booth on my iMac is not working.  When I take a pic, the screen flashes but the pic is still dark.  Was working fine yesterday.  I did install the latest osx today.  That's the only changes since then.

  • Can I turn off photo booth's "flash"?

Anybody know? I have a lamp beside me and the lighting is much nicer without the FLASH. Can I turn it off?

Welcome to Apple Discussions, Kerwin Kaye
If the Photo Booth flash is bothering you and the tips above have not helped enough, you can try the ultimate solution. Cover all or part of your display screen with some opaque material such as cardboard or heavy cloth.

  • Photo Booth in Yosemite

Few problems with this photo booth only out of Yosemite:
It appears to pause the video when not in use, also it appears to be putting my computer to SLEEP, after that.
Is there any way to disable this new "feature"?
Is there an alternative to Photo booth that is free?
This new "feature" is making the app useless for my purposes.

  • Help with Photo booth

IS there a way that I can turn off the flash that happens when i take pictures with photo booth?
I was also wondering if the camera records video?
    Thank you!

    Hello Sarah CMac
To disable Photo Booth flash, hold shift while you click.
BTW, holding option disables the seconds countdown. You can use both at once if desired.
Photo Booth 2 that comes with Leopard adds video recording with "effects" and sound. If you do not want to upgrade to Leopard, you can use WebcamTweaker for "effects" videos or any of the apps that can record video or movie clips from this list of Some Applications You Can Use With iSight for video without Photo Booth's "effects."

  • Flash for Photo Booth not working.  Can it be fixed?

My flash in Photo Booth stopped working--can it be fixed?  And if so, can a local computer store do it?

Apple doesn't fix phones, they replace them.  Bring your phone and $199 to Apple for an out of warranty replacement.  Damage to the camera by the excessive heat has voided your warranty.

  • Photo Booth-like flash when using shortcuts...

    Hi there,
I've been facing a weird bug since the 10.6.3 update... Indeed, whenever I'm hitting a shortcut that's grayed in the menu of whichever application, my screen flashes as if I were taking a picture with Photo Booth.
That's fun and all, but it's getting very annoying at times...
Any idea of what's causing this?
    Thanks,

Check ->System Preferences ->Universal Access ->Hearing and see if the box marked "flash the screen when an alert sound occurs" is checked.

  • Flash to work in photo booth on my iMac

I cannot get the flash to work in photo booth on my iMac. It is enabled but no flash. There is a flash on the screen but not in my face for example. Can you help?

Something I have not tried before but it is the same on my Macbook Pro.
You can post feedback here http://www.apple.com/feedback/
If your iMac is new or under Apple care you can contact Apple by phone.

  • Photo Booth does not turn on iSight

iChat and iMovie will both turn it on, so I know it's not a hardware problem, but I can't get Photo Booth to turn it on. If i press the button to snap a picture, it goes through the motions, "Flashes", and I get a black picture since the iSight never turned on.
Things I have tried so far
    repair permissions
    full restart
deleted PH's .plist file in my home directory
    reinstalled from the original DVD
and finally, logged in as a new user, where it still failed, so I know it's not a problem in my Home directory.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can try?
Oh, and yes, it used to work fine, but I haven't had a need for PH in several months.
Thanks in advance for any help, or suggestions on what might be a better forum to pose this in if this wasn't the best choice for a software problem!

    Welcome, J Coffle
I think you are in a good place, but I imagine you will only think it is the right place if you get your problem solved. At any rate, if I can think of a better place, I will let you know.
First, what is "PH"? Assuming you mean "Photo Booth", I will offer a couple of suggestions for your consideration. If I am wrong, stop here and post back the correct meaning.
You have tried several good things. Here are a few more you can consider.
    (1) Disconnect all peripherals while you do your testing to rule out possible conflicts.
    (2) Check for any running applications, Login Items, or widgets that can use your iSight. (It is easy to forget widgets like Mirror in your Dashboard.) As explained in Apple's iSight "Your camera is in use by another application" message, iSight can be used by one application at a time.
    (3) Try every relevant Built-in iSight suggestion in How to Troubleshoot iSight.
    (4) If resetting or the other troubleshooting suggestions do correct your problem, try the following:
    - Backup your Home Folder, or at very least, your important files.
    - Repair permissions.
    - Then download and apply the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update (PPC).
    - Perform another Permissions Repair.
    - Then check Photo Booth again with no other iSight apps running.
Users have reported fixes to a variety of audio, video, connectivity, and software conflicts and unreliability issues after properly applying the latest Combo Updates.
If you can recall anything significant that might have changed since Photo Booth last worked, what changed would be helpful to know if you must post back for more ideas.

  • Photo Booth is not working

I have used photo booth in the past but now when I click on its icon in the dock, nothing happens. Any ideas please?

Thankyou for your reply. I followed your advice and downloaded pacifist and then went in search of the missing files. They were found and I installed them BUT, when I restarted my computer, I had encountered a major problem. The computer continuously flashed the finder and desktop windows and was totally unresponsive to any commands. The only way to stop was to hold down the power button. On restart, the same problem existed - weird! In desperation, I reloaded Mac OS and the problems have gone. I even have PhotoBooth back.
One final question. Can I now delete the 'Previous System Folder' that was created during the reload of the system software?
Thanks again to you and Aqua for your support and patience.

  • Photo Booth Comic Book Effect Problem

    Hi...
Well I write this because I think I've got a problem with Photo Booth's comic book effect... Thing is that when I use this effect before the picture is taken it all looks good... but after I take the picture it looks horrible, like too white... not like a normal comic book effect pic (I've seen my friends' pictures using this effect and they look good) I've tried using "shift+enter" to prevent the screen from flashing but it doesn't change the bad quality of the effect...
Does anybody know why this is happening?

Thank you for your response... but I've already thought about my clothes' color or background color or even light... if it's too bright or too dim... but nothing seems to fix the bad effect... I've tried bright light, not so bright, incandescent, fluorescent, light colored clothes, dark clothes! nothing helps, I've repaired permissions, I think I've even "uninstalled" photobooth and then got it back from the CD... it is just defective... I kinda hate this cause comic book effect is one of my favorites!... I wish someone else could help... I know I'm not the only one with this kind of prob cause I read this very same problem on yahoo answers...
