Photo Booth hangs on movie playback in ML (10.8.1)

I have a mid-2009 MBP running ML (10.8.1).  Photobooth (v5.0 (307)) starts up okay and can record a video.  However, playback of that same video causes Photo booth to consistently hang, requiring a force quit.
I've verified that the internal isight camera works fine in QT (v7) and can record/playback video.  The mac is uptodate on all software as well.
I also have an iMac running ML and Photo Booth works fine on it.
Anyone experiencing this behavior (or specifically on a MBP)?  Suggestions are much appreciated.
Thank you,
Ken

  • Photo Booth hangs

iMac G5 (iSight) running Leopard 10.5.1
When I try to launch Photo Booth the window opens and it just hangs and stops responding. Any thoughts on what is causing this? When I first installed Leopard it launched fine.

I was able to resolve this issue by deleting the com.apple.photobooth.plist file in the User/Library/Preferences.
I hope this works for you.
    Thanks

  • My i-sight camera hasn't worked for a bit so I bought a logitech external...it works fine on photo booth but i-movie won't recognize it?

Can anyone offer a solution?  Also, how do I get the video on photo booth to "flip" as it records video backwards.

You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

  • Photo booth; how do I make a video?

It was my understanding that with a macbook you could use photo booth to take videos, not just pictures. I am SO frustrated. How do I do this?

    nicoleaa,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Open Photo Booth. When the window opens, you will see three icons near the bottom of the window on the left side. Click on the one that looks like a clipping from an old film reel. Then click on the red "Record Movie" button, or select Photo Booth>File>Record Movie.

  • Photo Booth Effects While Recording

Is there a way to record video in iMovie with Photo Booth effects? Is there a program, a hack, or just something I have to do in order to have effects if I want to record with iSight?
    Thanks in advance,

Well, I don't want to use software fors screen capture because the frames end up being very slow. And I'm definately not going to aim a camera at my monitor because it will have very bad quality. Also, the only camera I use is the built in i-Sight so I can't move it. But, anymore suggestions? I saw, in the package contents of Photo Booth, a quarts movie that has all the different effects for photo booth. Is there a simple quartz plug-in I can get for iMovie?

  • Photo Booth Files Misplaced

i took a video using photo booth then moved the video to a different location and forgot where i moved it to (trying to hide the video) is there a way to find this video that was created by photo booth without knowing the name of it if so please detail

It seems that you certainly successfuly hid your movie!
Search using Spotlight.  Videos recorded with Mac OS X 10.8.2's Photo Booth are named "Movie" (without quote marks) plus the date & time.  Example: "Movie on 2012-11-25 at 23.31" Search for as much of the name as you remember.
The search is easier if you know at least the date.  If not, search for "Movie" without anything else and then look at each one to find the one that is NOT in your Photo Booth folder.
    • If your 10.5.8 Photo Booth version used a different first word naming convention, search for that.
    • If you moved the file outside your User Folder, or if you have used System Preferences... to modify where Spotlight may search, Spotlight may not be able find where you put it.  In that case, use Finder > Go > Computer to open a finder window and search your entire hard drive for "Movie". This list you must review manually may be much longer, but it might find your file (along with many others.)

  • As im recording videos on Photo Booth, my movements seem late. then when i play back the video, the sound comes in really late. how do i fix this?

theres like a 5 second delay from when i say something to when the sound of my voice actually comes in when i play back movies in photobooth.i tried restarting my computer and even turning on *auto flip new items. when i turn that on the problem is fixed for only one video. when i try to record the next one its back to the delay. is there anyway to trouble shoot this? or do i have to take my mac to the apple store. to top it all off ive only had my computer for 5 days. help please !!!!

I had the same problem since my moutain lion update, too.
I fixed it in the following way.
-Search for utilities on the HELP option on the top taskbar
    - Go to utilities and open your audio-midi-setup.
    - check your input and output properties
    - Change input and output 44100khz and 16-BIT for both.(these are the most common properties)
my sound and video are not ouf sync in photo booth anymore.
let me know if it works for you!
    cheers

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.

No matter how hard you wish, there is not one that I know.
If you want to try it yourself, Aero Quartet explains their service here: http://aeroquartet.com/movierepair/home
In the meantime, we will hope that yours is one of the rare cases that lends itself to a DIY fix that you have not already discovered!
We will watch for your status update.  Please let us know if you find another way.
    Cheers,

  • Photo Booth playback of video recording doesn't works

    Hello !
I have a problem with the playback function of recorded videos in Photo Booth.
My machine is an iMac late 2007 with Mountain Lion on it.
Well ! It's possible to create a video with Photo Booth. But if I like to playback the record in Photo Booth, I only see a black screen inn the Photo Booth window.
    Any solutions for me?

    Hello namzo !
May be it will be solved in the next Mountain Lion update.

  • Upgrade to 10.8 cannot play movies and no movies in Photo Booth

    Hi
I have been upgrading my iMac and now i cannot play .mov and there are no movies in photo booth.
Is there something I need to do to get this back?
    Thanks

In the iTunes preferences have you tried the option under the Advanced tab to Change the location of your iTunes Media Folder location?
This might point you in the right direction
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1449?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
So on your external drive is all of your media in a folder called itunes or is it just music, movies etc. just in a bunch of folders that iTunes is not organizing?

  • Photo Booth movie length

I've tried several times to create movies in Photo Booth. I recently just tried to make one that I thought was recorded for three minutes. When I pressed the stop button only 1minute 7 seconds of it was recorded. How do I change this? Thanks.

Seems to be a bug in Photo Booth....

  • Can't record (movie) Photo Booth Background scenarios

Here it goes, I open Photo Booth, select a background effect like paris or the waterfall, Photo Booth tells me to leave the screen area, I leave, come back, everything works fine. It's like I'm in the location I just picked. If I take a picture, it works too. But when I select to record a movie, the light on my Macbook's camera goes off for a second, and when it starts recording, the Paris backrgound disappears! It shows the real background behind me!
This started happening when upgraded to Lion. Actually, I only used it yesterday, and that was after (2 weeks) I updated to Lion 10.7.2, so maybe this update is somehow doing this.
I don't think the problem is my camera, because all the effects work. It just happens the moment it starts recording.

I found a little workaround, I open quicktime and select to record the screen. So I open Photo Booth and select the animated background I want. It works, because my problem is recording. The background effect works. I can take a picture with no problem. Oh, you have to also select (on quicktime) to record audio, it records through the built in mic. The only problem, is that the image seems darker when I select the animated beackground. With regular effects, like "the birds" the image is very bright and colorful.

  • HT3775 Movie made with Photo Booth cannot be opened

A homemade movie I recorded on Photo Booth has been put into the All Movies file. When I clicked on it to play the message that came up was "The document could not be opened. The movie is not in a format that Quick Time Player understands." Help me?

Ask in the Premiere forum and provide proper system and project info. This sounds like some CoDec issue where some stuff is not properly licensed.
