  • Photo booth image size after lion upgrade

While in Snow Leopard, whenever I take a photo using Photo Booth and drag and drop it onto an email message in a web browser, it pastes a smaller (approx 60-70kb) size of the image.
With Lion, whenever I do this it pastes a bigger image (around 150-200kb).  My current internet connection is a bit crappy and it takes a wee bit of a while to upload.
I know that I can use Mail and specify what image size should be sent, but I don't use Mail
Is it possible to revert to the old image size for Photo Booth?

Dragging and dropping to a web-based email (gmail) makes the photo appear inside the message itself, and not as an attachment, which is what I wanted.

  • Photo booth images too dark and grainy

When I use Skype or want to take a photo using Photo Booth, the image is dark and grainy. It has slowly gotten worse and worse. Never had a problem with it before. Any suggestions?

  • Photo Booth Fade to Black

Started Photo Booth tonight and it flashed up ok for about 2 seconds before starting to fade REALLy fast into blackness.
Restarted photo booth - same thing.
    Restarted iMac - same thing
Checked Forums, which suggested deleting pref file, did that - same thing
Installed new version of Photo Booth - same thing
The only thing i have done different recently is up date to OS X version 10.4.10 (latest release), does any one else have this problem?
Can anyone here help out a really frustrated Mac user?
    ...please!

Well, I have updated to 10.4.10 and then the latest security update after that, and my Photo Booth is still behaving normally, so the problems you are having are not due to 10.4.10 by itself.
Just tried iMovie too and it appears OK.
Here's an update! On the "Using your Intel iMac" forum there is a thread about the same problem. One person fixed his own instance of this by unplugging the Mac for a minute or so (SMC reset, I believe.)

  • Photo Booth has a black screen!!

Every time i go onto my Photo Booth it just comes up with a black screen and the clock constantly. I've tried restarting my computer etc. but it does nothing. I was thinking of taking it in to be fixed however I realised that my Face Time, Skype etc. still work as well??? Help!!!!

    Howdy livmp,
It sounds like you are trying to use PhotoBoot on your computer but the camera doesn't seem to be showing anything at all. I'd recommend you reset your SMC, then your PRAM in that order with these articles and then test it out again:
Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac
    and
OS X Yosemite: Reset your computer’s PRAM
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

  • All my Photo Booth images have gone - after power cut!!

OK, I was on my iMac when a power cut effected the whole street. I don't know if I had Photo Booth open at the time but now I've noticed after I logged back in that all 50+ images in my Photo Booth timeline have gone. It now says 'no images' at the bottom.
Where the **** could these have gone? Also, I was silly enough not to back any of them up...gutted

I've just looked in my Photo Booth folder where the images are kept and they are all there!! It would be nice to get these back into the 'timeline' at the botom of the PB app, does anyone know of this can be done at all?

Your local Apple retailer or Apple Authorized Service Provider can certainly help you with your problem.
If you want to try some things on you own first, consider the following in any order relevant to your Mac:
    (1) First ensure that you don't have some kind of dirt smudge on your cams' lens cover.
    (2) Poor iSight image is usually caused by insufficient light.
Per http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3097, use good (meaning very bright, single-source) light.
You can restart Mac and record a Photo Booth image or video clip in full sunlight. View it inside (not in sunlight) to see the best quality your Mac can give.
    (3) If your problem persists, you can consider these suggestions for troubleshooting built-in iSight: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
You have already tested multiple apps, but you should also test in more than one user account.  Create a new one for testing if you only have one account on your Mac. Do NOT use a "Guest" account!
    (4) If you decided to get help, unless you already have a current backup, always make one immediately befoer you relinquish your Mac for service.

  • Black screen when I want to look at my videos in Photo booth

    Hey
When I open Photo Booth and want to click a video, the photo booth screen is black, pictures work fine they open and I can look at them but videos just turn black. I don't know what this is or why it's happening cause it wasn't like that at first. Help would be appreciated
    Thanks

I did an update that my Macbook required and it sorted itself out, hope it works out for you.

  • Photo Booth is freezing after Maverick upgrade. Any help?

Photo Booth has been freezing since I upgraded to Maverick yesterday. On my MacBook Pro, it shut it down. On my iMac, it did the same thing. Once I did manage to get it up again on the iMac, I got a spinning ball in less than 30 seconds, and then it just crashed.
On the MacBook Pro Retina Display, it crashes immediately — and, even then, the screen in Photo Booth is completely blacked out.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Photo booth mirror-not what you think

when i use the mirror effect on photo booth, it mirrors the left side of the view (you have two left hands) is there anyway to get it to mirror your right side?

    Hello again, mr.merino
Another idea that may be of interest to you...
If you are only trying to make one (or a few) of the reverse mirror images you post about, and if you are not interested in learning and writing Quartz compositions, you can take the "easy" approach and use a mirror.
Here is how I did what you ask about in Photo Booth without programming. No "Edit > Flip Photo" menu item was applied in any of the following images.
    (1) As a reference, I show this normal Photo Booth image of a left hand pointing left.
    (2) This image uses the "Mirror" effect on the same hand pointing the same way.
    (3) To mirror the right side instead of the left side, I selected the Photo Booth "Mirror" effect to make another mirror image. However, this time, I placed a mirror in front of the iSight and positioned the hand behind the iSight. By adjusting the positions of the mirror and the subject (hand) while I watched in the Photo Booth viewing window, I was able to obtain this image.
We await your response. Please confirm that the kind of left/right reversal between items (2) and (3) is what you are trying to accomplish.

  • Photo Booth doesn't recognize logitech camera

I have a logitech camera, it works with Skype, iChat and is recognized by Photo Booth but the screen (photo booth screen) is black. If I take a picture, it counts down but then nothing. The camera works in all other apps. If I remove my Elgato Hybrid, then it works...nothing else I have tried, helps. Any suggestions?

I downgraded the photo booth app using pacifist to an older version and it now works fine after experiencing the same issues you report.
This was on a G4 MDD upgraded to 10.5.8. I installed Photo BOoth 1.0 and now works fine. 10.5.8 Photo Booth version is 2.0.3.

  • Editing Photo Booth pics in iPhoto?

Hey I'm new here and kinda new to Macs. I just got a MacBook yesterday, and I have been toying around with Photo Booth. I was wondering if I can edit Photo Booth images in iPhoto because when i try to edit it, I get a dotted-line box with a question mark in the center where the picture to be editted is supposed to be. Am I doing something wrong or can I not edit Photo Booth pictures in iPhoto?

Photo booth effects are not available to process iPhoto photos - you can suggest to Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback

  • Transferring photo booth files/pics ?

i want to transfer my photo booth images to my new macbook, i understand that the system creates a photo booth album in the pictures folder of the home folder and every photo taken in photo booth on that machine will be saved there, but what if i have some photo's taken on photo booth on my old machine and i want them on the new machine, but i dont just want them in the photo booth folder (which would be a drag and drop job) but i also want them to be displayed in the actual photo booth application itself in the roll along the bottom as the ones taken on the new machine are
is there a folder where the thumbnail/.thm images are stored like in iphoto?
    hope this isn't confusing
    any help much appreciated

The only way to get photo booth to recognize the new photos is by using the same file name of a photo already in the folder. For example: you have 10 photos you want to put in the new photo booth. They all have file names like Photo 1, Photo 2, etc. You have to first make a photo with the new photo booth - files will then be created and they also have file names like Photo 1, Photo 2, etc. You need to change the name of the photo files you want to appear in the new photo booth to match the photo files already there and replace them when you copy into the new photo booth folder.
Another option if you have a lot of photos- although you should have a backup of all the photo booth files before modifying anything because it could crash the new photo booth application and make it not open any more.... You need to copy the entire photo booth photos folder to the new computer (from username/pictures). You also need to copy the Recents.plist file from username/library/application support/photo booth into the same folder on the new computer.

  • Family Photo Booth Project

As a fun family activity for Christmas, I'm going to connect my MacBook to the TV and let everyone take turns sitting in front of the camera making funny faces and warping themselves in Photo Booth. With my family being PC people, it will be a big hit and really let me show off the awesomeness of a Mac. I'm going to set up some lights and use a green screen so the backdrops will play nice. I've also rigged a Griffin PowerMate to trigger the Photo Booth's shutter without the countdown and screen flash so the person can instantly snap a picture of any scene they like via pushing a big button.
I also will be connecting my MacBook to a Canon SELPHY personal photo printer using the printer drivers and will be allowing people to print their favorite shots throughout the evening. I thought this would make an easy and inexpensive keepsake of the evening. Here's my question...
I've created a 4x6 template in Photoshop that has some cool graphics placed around the masked-out area where the Photo Booth image will be (640x480) before it's printed. Since I may have a lot of participants, I would like to streamline this merging process if possible. I'd rather not have to load Photoshop and bog down my MacBook for such a simple task of joining two images together. Can anyone recommend a better solution for combining the Photo Booth picture with my 4x6 template to print out for everyone? If push comes to shove, I'll load Photoshop, but I can't help but think there's got to be a better way of doing this. Can Preview handle this for me?
Additionally, any hints or suggestions that anyone has of things I could do to enhance my group activity, I'd love to hear!
