Photo booth & imovie
Is there a way to get video images from photo booth to imovie,i put a video image from p b on my desktop and dragged it into my project in imovie but it would not stay.
Did you move any of those applications? A question mark in the Dock means that the original application cannot be found. You've either moved or deleted them. Try to do a Spotlight search for each to see if you can find them.

Moving iPhoto, Photo Booth, & iMovie library to an external drive
I've search through most of the support community and still havent found a concrete answer. Like most my current internal harddrive is about full. Mostly filled with photos and movies. I have a external harddrive that Time Machine is enabled. I also backed u my iphoto & photo booth library to the external drive. I have yet to move over any imovie data until I am sure that process will work.
How do I move all data over so that iphoto, photo booth, & imovie can be ran fom my external harddrive. Also how can I ensure that imovie will direct itself to the iphoto library on my external because all movies from the past use the iphoto library as its directory. Once this is done I would like to delete all previous data off of my nternal drive

Do you want to store your movies and photos on your Time Machine drive? That is not recommended, since you will not have a backup, if the media are only on your backup volume. You will need a second drive in addition to your backup drive, and this drive needs to be formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled), otherwise you cannot store photo libraries (iPhoto, Aperture) or iMovie events on that drive, see: Format external drives to Mac OS Extended before using with Aperture (remember, thta formatting erases a drive, you have to save any contents to another drive before formatting).
For iPhoto: Once your external drive has the correct file system, simply select your iPhoto library in the Finder and drag it to that drive. Then double click the copied library to open it in iPhoto.
For iMovie: To move your iMovie events to an external drive, use the event browser in iMovie - don't use the Finder!

I don't use Photo Booth, so I do not know how to move your Photo Booth photos.

ITunes, Photo Booth, iMovie and etc won't open and I can't find out why!
As of yesterday while listening to my iTunes, it sudden froze my entire screen and I had to do a hard shut down because force quit wouldn't even show up. I'm pretty proficient with Macs ( I'm sure there are way better people out there but I do my best ) and I've looked up forums to find out what's going on. I've verified permissions and repaired permissions and I've looked into my Cache files, my plug-ins and uninstalled and re-installed a disk image and website download file and nothing seems to be working.
Any suggestions? My warranty is expired and I have no extra cash to get it extended so I'm praying that its nothing that needs to be replace. I'm just so depressed to get this problem fixed. PLEASE HELP!Here is the Report on the issue!

Is there a feasible way to use effects from photo booth in imovie? I would like to have the background-effect and use my isight-camera. There is no effect to choose. Unfortunately the quality is too bad if I record directly from photo booth. I did not found a way to optimise the quality in the application itself. Thank you for your help! (1) Record the clip in Photo Booth (PB) using the effect you want. Then quit PB and launch iMovie (iM.) Import a copy of the clip located in your Home > Pictures > Photo Booth folder and named "Movie xx.mov" into iM.
(2) If you have iMovie HD (before iMovie 7.x), record a clip and add Editing > Video FX after the clip has been recorded. These are not identical to the effects PB adds during recording, but they can approximate some of them on clips you have already made.
I suggest a short test first to determine whether you like what you can do before you record an entire project without knowing if you can approximate the effect you want.

Hi,
I am trying to do a green screen effiect in iMovie without a green screen. This is possible in photo booth with the background effects. I have been suprised to find that these effects are not available in iMovie. This question has been asked before and I have seen threads were people say that iMovie is not powerful enough to do this. I would think that if photo booth can do this in real time then iMovie would be possible enough to render this? - or am I missing something?
Basically my question is, does anyone know how to use this effect in iMovie or is there a work around to produce this effect?

no, this effect can not be used in iM.
when you use the effect in PhotoBooth, you see how it works:
you create a shot of the bg without you
this is used as in any pic processor creating a 'difference mask' to the live scene
the resulting 'black' is used for a luma-key
.... but this is a very ... rude method, far from quality, iM could create.
esp. luma-keying is a bit … 'say old-fashioned.
the green-screen is superb in iM, no fancy colors or equipment needed. get any green cloth (I'm using a 4€ 'fleece' blanket, avoids reflections) as background, try to illuminate it, keep a distance btw. subject and bg (zoom or use iM's green-screen crop tool), there's no need for a green studio!
... funny thing: a perfect lighted bg does work worse in iM than a 'bad' lighted one -

For any iSight problems, first try restarting the Mac. If the problems persist, try all relevant suggestions from:

If your iSight problem still occurs in more than one app and more than one user account, the reset suggested there often restores proper function of inbuilt iSight.
However, if your built-in iSight still does not work after carefully following all the suggestions in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article, and if iSight does not show as a USB hardware device in your Mac's System Profiler utility, yours is most likely a hardware problem. In that case, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

Canon 5D MkII not detecting in iMovie and Photo Booth
Background:
Until a few weeks ago we were using a Panasonic N28 Camcorder to take photos via Photo Booth and record videos via Image Capture. We had it connected using Firewire and maybe we also had USB too and it was able to shoot videos via iMovie'11 too. We now replaced this model with a Canon 5D MkII.
Issue:
Our Canon 5D MkII replaced our camcorder and it's connected via usb to our MAC running Mountain Lion and iMovie'11 with the latest update, yet it is not recognised by iMovie & Photobooth. It it unable to be selected and used instead of the iSight camera. It works fine in Image Capture so there is no hardware issues with the Canon 5D MkII. I can import recorded movies into iMovie'11 also.
What is the issue? Is there anything I need to download from Apple? Can my Canon 5D MkII be used in place of my Apple iSight camera?
Please help if you can.I guess that may be a valid point, the Panasonic N28 Camcorder was of relatively low grade certainly not HD.
So if I want a better camera to use in place of the isight camera, am I best off going with a webcam?
My Panasonic was had a screw mount so I put a very wide lense on it. i also was able to vary the depth of field and achieve really good results. This is why I wanted the 5D to be used, and need an alternative. -
Low sound levels in Photo Booth and Imovie
I am a new Mac user and I am trying to record a short video to email using the built-in Isight camera. I have tried to use Photo Booth and Imovie and both of them produce videos with very, very low sound levels. You can barely hear it even when turned up to the max. I have checked the Sound preferences, and it is set to the built-in microphone, about mid-level. I've tried cranking it up to the max and with and without Use ambient noise reduction checked. It has no effect. How do I get a decent sound level? It is unusable at this point. I've updated my Software and repaired permissions, and still no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
daomunThanks for the response. I checked my midi audio settings and they are at the suggested rate. I called up an Apple support tech, and after trying a few things he basically said the internal mics are junk and go buy an external one. In the mean time, I've cranked up the sound levels to max, so I can hear it a little, but there is a ton of background hiss. I've done a web search and several people have reported this problem. so I think it might be something besides junk mics. Why do they install them if they are completely unusable? Thanks again. I'll try trashing the sound pref's too.

Photo booth effects with Imovie HD?
I was having a ball with the weird effects of phone booth and thought it would be fun to have those real time effects in Imovie HD so I can record a short video clip instead of just a simple snapshot. Is this possible?

No. I don't think you can.
Here's something I did as a kind of workaround.
Take a series of stills using whatever Photo Booth effect you like.
Now bring those stills into iMovie. Next record a voice over and then click the Editing Button and choose Audio FX. You can then use the Pitch Changer to alter the pitch of your voice.
Moving the slider towards Chipmunk goes particularly well with some of the crazy Photo Booth effects.

I recorded a video using my macbook pro (late 2013) using Photo Booth and I then imported it to iPhoto, I am trying to edit it using iMovie (also on my macbook) I can't edit the footage and it just doesn't pop up in the bar where you select which video you want to edit. The only place I can watch it is in Photo Booth where it was originally recorded and on iPhoto where I imported it to after filming. Can anyone help as I need to edit these videos, they were all filmed on the same device and it's as if they don't even exist to iMovie.

Yes this one is not Straight Forward - far away from the Easy way Apple use to be.
I tried: (Export in Photo Booth ==> Movie Date.gif --- STRANGE) and it doesn't convert in any of my tools

Then I started to look for where it was stored and found it in:
My MacBook Pro / Macintosh HD / Users / My name / Pictures / Photo Booth
and as a Movie Date Clock.mov file and as this
This file I can Import to iMovie'11 v. 9.0.4 - or just drop into my movie project (BUT THEN I MUST NOT DELETE or Move the original as links then will break)
Hopefully You could be able to follow my way of doing it.
WHY EVER this is not just an Import button in iMovie is totally beyond my understanding - It stupid.

Is there a way to convert videos taken in Photo Booth to iMovie?
A friend of mine came to visit from out of town and we made some videos using Photo Booth. I tried to drag and drop it into iMovie, because I need to edit some clips, but it wouldn't work. I tried dragging it to iTunes first, but then it only recognized the audio in iMovie... My friend is leaving town today, and I would really like to figure out how to make this work. Any suggestions? Is it even possible?

Export as QuickTime - here I select the DV-PAL codec (as I'm in EU - DV-NTSC for USA)
This I can use in iMovie or FinalCut
If QT-Player X can do this - I have not a clue - Sorry - try and see

Isight is not working on ichat and skype, however will work on photo booth and imovie.
My isight will not work on ichat or skype, saying that there is no camera connected. isight will work in photo booth and imovie. It shows up in the system profiler. Have tried resetting SMC. Help?
(1) Here is how I would proceed to isolate the underlying problem that requires corrective action.
• Shut down everything.
• Then restart modem and allow its self-test to complete.
• Then restart router or wireless access point (if you have them) and allow self-test to complete.
• Then restart Mac.
• Use > Software Update... (Update your Apple software if not current.)
• Then test Photo Booth or iMovie with no other apps else running to ensure they still work.
• Then quit your test app and try iChat with no other apps else running.
• If iChat works, quit iChat and try Skype with no other apps else running.
(2) If iChat works but Skype does not,
• Verify that you are using the latest version of Skype that is compatible with your OS X (10.5.8) Mac.
• Update if necessary.
• Then test Skype again with no other apps else running.
• If Skype problems remain but your camera works with everything else, Skype's comprehensive support system should best be able to help you use their product with your system.

Video & Audio out of sync using iMovie and Photo Booth
I just bought a NEW iMac this month and I am trying to record a 5 min clip. during play back in iMovie and photo booth the video looks slow and its not synced with audio until the clip is at around 4:30.
I am using the internal mike and built in camera.
Its a new computer with plenty of space in it and no new programs.
I have looked through the threads on this sight but cant find my issue.
Please Help.

You have made a good start and already considered a couple of the most likely possibilities that could have caused your problem:
• CPU performance settings and
• multiple apps running
re: CPU performance setting: I am not certain, but your MBA may run even faster when it is connected to power that when running on battery, even with the processor performance setting configured for best performance. If you are not already running on AC power, do a test while plugged in and see if that helps.
re: multiple apps: Consider the possibility of background widgets or apps that might be running. If you have not already tested this way, restart your Mac to eliminate possible widgets, quit all startup items, verify that Spotlight is not your indexing disk, and verify that no Time Machine backups are running. Then test video recording again.
If you do not get your problem corrected otherwise, consider the relevant suggestions in this list of possibilites regarding A/V recording sync issues:

Some of them may not be relevant to your MBA, but you may find something helpful there.
