Whenever I try to open Photo Booth, it doesn't. I checked console log and it looks like it crashing upon opening. Here whats the console says:

If anyone can help thanks.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions ...
This might be a corrupted preference file.
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences/ com.apple.LaunchServices.plist
Delete that file and relaunch Finder.
Also, run Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions.

  • Photo Booth Will Not Start On Leopard

When I try to start Photo Booth on Leopard, it gives me "The application 'Photo Booth' has quit unexpectedly." It asks me if I want to restore the settings, and I did already. It proceeds to exist. Any ideas?

Does the same thing happen when you are logged in to a different user account?

  • Photo Booth crashes after starting: Kern protection failure

Photo Booth does not start - it crashes before it has fully opened. Selecting Restart or *Resetting preferences and restart* does not work. The iSight camera works fine in Skype. I reinstalled Photo Booth using Pacifist (going back to version 2.0 from 2.0.1 of Photo Booth), but the same error appeared.

Any ideas about how to fix this? Thanks!

Update: When I pulled my accounts back online, it told me that my IMAP mailbox was corrupted and that it would need to rebuild it. 1hr later, the rebuild completed and it hasn't crashed since.

  • Photo booth can not be run

    Hi all !
Everything was working perfectly and since my last update, photo booth doesn't want to start :
The error message is as follow :
    "Photobooth ne peut pas s'ouvrir
La carte graphique installée dans cet ordinateur ne prend pas en charge Photo Booth."
    Translated :
"Photo booth can not be run :
The graphics card installed in this computer does not work with Photo Booth."
I tested other apps and it works fine
    Need help !
    Thanks a lot !

    Hi,
I think I'm having the same problems as the OP. When I click on Photo Booth to open, I get an error message that says:
    "Photo Booth cannot open
The graphics card installed in this computer does not support Photo Booth."
The built-in iSight camera appears to be working fine with iChat and Skype, it just refuses to work with Photo Booth, it's worked perfectly for the last 2 years, I don't understand why it's doing this now.
Could you please provide me with a step by step guide on how to fix this problem.
    Thanks!
    Any help is much appreciated.

  • Isight works with photo booth but not in ichat or google talk or skype?

isight works with photo booth but not in ichat or google talk or skype?

    Hi
Is this an Internal or External iSight ?
In iChat, in the Video Menu (This is to the right of Buddies and may read Audio) is Camera Enabled Ticked ?
If it reads Audio open the Connection Doctor from that same menu.
In the connection Doctor open the Capabilities tab
Does it say your Internet Connection is too slow ?
At this point I would need to know which iChat Version.
However also look in the View Menu.
Is Show VIdeo Status ticked ?  (this shows green Icons next to your Buddy Pic and those of your Buddies
Next go to the iChat Menu > Preferences > Video Section
Do you see a preview here ?
    Re: GoogleTalk
Have you enabled TALK on your Google Account Settings ?
You need to have a Google Mail ID (Not any other sort of Google ID)
Have you downloaded the Intel only Web Browser Plug-in to do Video in a  Web Browser.

  • Photo booth is not opening after installing maverick

I updated my computer to Maverick and now photo booth is not opening. I could care less about the application itself but there are pictures that I really do not want to lose. It says that "You can't use this version of the application "Photo Booth" with this version of OS X. You have "Photo Booth" 3.0.3." I can't find any information on updating the application and I can't find any way to recover the pictures from the application. Please help.

You're trying to open an outdated copy of the application. Delete the copy and use the one in the Applications folder. Never move or copy built-in applications.

  • Mail, preview, photo booth, will not open

After installing Leopard (on my 3rd attempt, clean install) mail, preview, and photo booth will not open at all. i'm opening them from the applications folder, not from the dock. i get an error message that says the programs unexpectedly quit. hopefully i don't have to do another installation. 3 is enough.
i thought it was interesting that these 3 programs are in order alphabetically, and every other program has opened fine.
    any help/ideas would be great

    Welcome to Apple Discussions:
You might check whether this is a preference corruption issue. For example, you can find the Mail preference file in [Username]/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Drag this file to your desktop (so you don't lose it). Then try relaunching Mail. If that works, a similar process might fix your problem with the other applications, too.
Please post back here if that helps. If it does, please mark this posting as having "Solved" your question. Thanks

  • Photo booth camera not conected

I keep getting "camera disconected " in photo booth i leave the computer in sleep mode most of the time.I have to restart, for the camera to work again then it disconects itself when photo booth has not been used for a while ?

Any other camera applications such as iChat open?  I think the camera is attached to the USB bus, do you have any non-Apple devices connected to the USB bus that may not like the power drain of Energy Saver after it turns on (i.e. the machine goes to sleep)?  This can cause cascading issues down the whole USB bus.

  • Photo Booth will not open.  My camera works well with other apps.

Photo Booth will not open.  My camera works well with other apps.

try running it in either 32 or 64bit mode and see if this changes the experience. Locate the icon in Finder, right click "get-info" on it and see the checkmarks "run in 32bit mode" ..
on Lion some users had trouble opeining pb when "iglasses" was installed, also a thing to check.
Else repair permissions of the disk, using Apples disk utility app.

  • Photo Booth does not turn on iSight

iChat and iMovie will both turn it on, so I know it's not a hardware problem, but I can't get Photo Booth to turn it on. If i press the button to snap a picture, it goes through the motions, "Flashes", and I get a black picture since the iSight never turned on.
Things I have tried so far
    repair permissions
    full restart
deleted PH's .plist file in my home directory
    reinstalled from the original DVD
and finally, logged in as a new user, where it still failed, so I know it's not a problem in my Home directory.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can try?
Oh, and yes, it used to work fine, but I haven't had a need for PH in several months.
Thanks in advance for any help, or suggestions on what might be a better forum to pose this in if this wasn't the best choice for a software problem!

    Welcome, J Coffle
I think you are in a good place, but I imagine you will only think it is the right place if you get your problem solved. At any rate, if I can think of a better place, I will let you know.
First, what is "PH"? Assuming you mean "Photo Booth", I will offer a couple of suggestions for your consideration. If I am wrong, stop here and post back the correct meaning.
You have tried several good things. Here are a few more you can consider.
    (1) Disconnect all peripherals while you do your testing to rule out possible conflicts.
    (2) Check for any running applications, Login Items, or widgets that can use your iSight. (It is easy to forget widgets like Mirror in your Dashboard.) As explained in Apple's iSight "Your camera is in use by another application" message, iSight can be used by one application at a time.
    (3) Try every relevant Built-in iSight suggestion in How to Troubleshoot iSight.
    (4) If resetting or the other troubleshooting suggestions do correct your problem, try the following:
    - Backup your Home Folder, or at very least, your important files.
    - Repair permissions.
    - Then download and apply the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update (PPC).
    - Perform another Permissions Repair.
    - Then check Photo Booth again with no other iSight apps running.
Users have reported fixes to a variety of audio, video, connectivity, and software conflicts and unreliability issues after properly applying the latest Combo Updates.
If you can recall anything significant that might have changed since Photo Booth last worked, what changed would be helpful to know if you must post back for more ideas.

  • Photo Booth flash not working in Maverick or Yosemite

I have noticed that the photo booth flash in Maverick on my Macbook Pro and in Yosemite on my iMac is not working Screen flash is enabled on both.
So this is happening on two different computers. Does anyone know how to fix this? All my photos are so dark on both of my computers using Maverick and Macbook Pro.
It works fine on system 10.6.8 though.
Has anyone else had this problem too?
    Martha

In case anyone is interested in your screen flash not working in the Yosemite or Maverick photo booth application, I finally called Apple today and he kept insisting it was working on his - I asked him to take a pic with the screen flash enabled and then disable it and he said it came out the same. And rationalized that it was because he was in a well lit room. I kept telling him in my old photo booth from system 10.6.8 that my face was lit up and my husband had reflections from his glasses so we went from him wanting me to reinstall my software (I refused since both computers were having the same problem - one using Yosemite and the other using Maverick)  to him finally going into HIS partitioned disk that has system 10.6.8 on it to discover that the flash there reflected off HIS glasses too. Bottom line is he admitted there has to be some flaw that prevented the photo booth flash from working for Maverick and Yosemite. Whew, finally validation!

  • Photo Booth is not detecting iSight

In the last couple days, whenever I have opened Photo Booth to take a picture, it doesn't automatically turn on my iSight camera. however, the camera works fine in iChat. When I click on the "Camera" menu when Photo Booth is open, it has the Built in iSight camera selected, but the green light does not turn on and I only have a black screen and can't take a picture.

  • Photo Booth backdrops not working?? Help

My Photobooth that was built into my Macbook Pro and it was working perfectly at first. I got my Macbook for christmas, it was brand new and one day the backdrops stopped working for some reason. I will use a back drop and get out the frame as it tells you to do and it will say background detected straight away. They when I step back into the frame it will not detect me? It just has the backdrop of what have chosen and no me? I have had a plain background behind me, no mirrors and relective stuff around me, I just want to know how I can get the backdrops back to normal. If you could help that would be great x

Save your photos you have in thumbnails to another folder.
    Quit Photo Booth.
Go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library" (this reveals the hidden user library in Lion)
Then go to Preferences/com.apple.PhotoBooth.plist and drag that file to your Desktop.
    Relaunch Photo Booth.

  • Photo Booth backgrounds not working

My backgrounds in Photo Booth don't seem to be working right, assuming I'm doing it right. I can't find any kind of tutorial on it on the Apple web site. When I choose the background, and it says to step out of the frame, I do so, but then when I return to the frame, my face is totally pixelated and some of the surrounding background bleeds through. What I am doing wrong?

    Everyone is having this problem.
Yes the demo on the apple website looks perfect, but not for us who try it.
It doesn't matter if you have bags of memory, fast processor, everyone still gets this problem. Some have improved the situation by moving and changing lights to different positions or put a plain background behind them. But overall pixelated and holes appear. Hopefully there will be a fix for this.
