Photo Booth-like flash when using shortcuts...

Hi there,
I've been facing a weird bug since the 10.6.3 update... Indeed, whenever I'm hitting a shortcut that's grayed in the menu of whichever application, my screen flashes as if I were taking a picture with Photo Booth.
That's fun and all, but it's getting very annoying at times...
Any idea of what's causing this?
Thanks,

Check ->System Preferences ->Universal Access ->Hearing and see if the box marked "flash the screen when an alert sound occurs" is checked.

    Is there a flash when using the camera on the iPad?

    Unlike iPhone, there's no LED flash on iPad. But iPad's specs indicate that it does have a backside illumination sensor to increase the amount of light captured and thereby improve low-light performance. Apple say:
    "The 5‑megapixel iSight camera features a backside illumination sensor that captures great-looking pictures whether by sunlight or candlelight." (Source)

  • Photo Booth quits Unexpectedly when trying to access pages 3 or 4 of effect

    So I have had this problem for a few months. Originally, Photo Booth wouldn't even open up until I removed all the photos and movies taken and placed them into a separate file folder.
    My daughter likes to use the program for little video performances, and the effects make it a bit more fun. So what is a dad to do? Only pages 1 and 2 work in the way of allowing effects, while pages 3 and 4 aren't even accessible, and the program shuts down trying to access them. I have tried to search via other threads, and read other challenges, but mine seems a bit unique.....maybe not however.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
    Move the com.apple.PhotoBooth.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.

  • Is there a professional green-screen photo booth app I can use for events?

    Hi there,
    I'm trying to set up a photo booth for an events company, but one that allows green screen capabilities, and one that people can use on their own without the aid of a photographer. The best app I've found online so far is SimpleBooth Pro:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/simplebooth-pro-edition/id747314899?mt=8
    ...and then of course there are green screen apps:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/veescope-live-full/id605757864?mt=8
    ... but nothing so far that combines both features.
    Any way to rig a feed into the iPad to get chroma keyed images?
    Thanks!

    There are no limits. But there is a known memory leak (which is being fixed for a later release).
    Would it be possible to attach a sample SWC so that we can confirm whether this is a known leak or not? I'll take care of filing this in bugs.adobe.com.
    Meanwhile, in your Flash Builder installation directory, you can edit FlashBuilder.ini to bump up max heap size by editing:
    -Xmx512m
    to
    -Xmx800m

  • Can I turn off photo booth's "flash"?

    Anybody know? I have a lamp beside me and the lighting is much nicer without the FLASH. Can I turn it off?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, Kerwin Kaye
    If the Photo Booth flash is bothering you and the tips above have not helped enough, you can try the ultimate solution. Cover all or part of your display screen with some opaque material such as cardboard or heavy cloth.

    Thanks anyway

    Shock like feeling when talking on iPhone 5, anyone else notice this? my daughter also noticed this when talking on phone??

    Burning from heat or electricity?  If heat, restore the device as new, i.e. not from your backup.

  • When I take an image in Photo Booth, the flash is delayed so my resulting image is dark. Why is this?

    I have checked that the flash function is on, and I have increased the brightness to maximum, none of which seem to rectify the situation. The flash seems delayed by a few milliseconds with the snapshot, so the image is the same as an image without flash. It there a way to synchronise the snapshot and the flash to the same instant?
    I have noticed this change since I updated to OSX Mavericks.

    Raw files always go straight to Photoshop without showing the "Open a copy" dialog. However:
    SInce Photoshop CS5 uses an older version of Camera Raw compared to LR5, that older version isn't capable of interpreting all the settings that LR5 passes to it (normally LR sends the original raw file, plus the list of adjustments, over the Photoshop - and Photoshop renders the image using its own Camera Raw engine).
    You would normally get a dialog indicating there is a Camera Raw version mismatch, giving you the options to "Render using Lightroom," or "Open anyway." You want to Render Using Lightroom.
    you may have turned this dialog off - there's a checkbox that says "Don't show again." You can restore the display of this dialog box by going into Lightroom's preferences in the General tab, and choosing "Reset all warning dialogs."
    here's a handy document from Victoria Bampton that explains raw rendering and camera raw version mismatch:

  • Photo losing color/contrast when using "save as" to save it.

    When I first started using CS6 I would edit my photos and when I used "save as" to save my photos then open them in a different photo viewer they would have lost a lot of color and contrast. When I reopened them in CS6 they still had no color. This is all occured on my PC. I used to use PSE 7 (on my PC) and the "save as" function to save them and they turned out fine. I recently got an iMac and when saved on there the same way and reopened in a different viewer they'd have the correct color, but when opened on my PC the color would be lost again. Also tried opening the images I saved on my PC in CS6 on the iMac and they still had no colo/contrast. So that would mean it's not a monitor calibration thing. I'm trying to figure out how to save my photos so they have the best quality they can have for printing and also the correct color for clients to view on their computers. Hope this all makes sense, it's a little confusing. Any help is much appreciated!! Thanks!
    PS: I did use the "save for web" option on my PC and the photos have the correct color that way! But those aren't the proper size and stuff for printing. Also I'm very new to iMac and full photoshop so I'm not sure what sizes/pixels/color modes/etc are normal or what photos are supposed to be.

    It has to do with embedded profiles  and what app you are using to open on PC

  • How can I improve the quality of a photo that appears blurry when used in iMovie but not in iPhoto?

    A 320 x 240, 35 KB Jpeg file looks crisp and in focus in iPhoto.  But as soon as I put it into iMovie and hit full screen, it's blurry and looks terrible.  A photo taken with my Nikon D7100, a 3872 x 2582, 2.5 MB Jpeg photo translates to the big screen just fine, with perfect clarity.  How can I use this former picture but increase its clarity when it's magnified in iMovie?

    Apologies for opening this up again:
    I rasterised and embedded the photos, liked what I saw and marked the question as answered, then I zoomed out and lo! The white jaggedy edges are back! This is despite the fact I rotated them to vertical before rasterising them.
    It appears that the pixels in the rasterised image are relative to the screen, not relative to the object... so when I rotate the photo it goes back to the original hi-res photo and re-rasterises it to fit the new orientation.
    Also doing this has not lowered the filesize at all... It does appear that when you rasterise an image in Illustrator, the new raster is only a veneer, the original (hi-res photo) is still lurking in the background.

  • Photos look blurry only when using Slideshow

    When I select an iPhoto album to view as a slideshow the photos appear blurry during the slideshow. When not using slideshow, when I open individual photos in iPhoto6 they appear blurred for maybe 2 seconds before snapping into sharp. The thumbnails are fine (sharp). But the photos stayed blurred in Slideshow changing from one blurred photo to the next - in other words useless. The photos are jpgs. I have no problems with any blur at all in Photoshop CS2. I assume I have to change some setting but I can't find any reference to this in iPhoto help. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Dave,
    On both my G4 and G5, I've encountered the same problem from time to time and here's the workaround that fixed it for me:
    Apply a filter to the images. I use the 3-Way Color Corrector since many of the photos could stand a little tweaking for TV anyway. Render them and they should retain their original sharpness.
    I have no idea what causes the problem, why it only affects some of the images and not all of them, nor do I know why re-rendering them after applying a filter works ... but it does for me.

    ps: another symptom that this fix takes care of is when you see a small shift (1 or 2 pixels) in the image's position as it comes out of a transition.

  • Excel flashing when using table write

    I'm monitoring 100 channels or so of data and would like to use Excel as the display. Using the "table write" vi, in the excel specific reports addon causes Excel to flash on every update.  Updates take place every second so it's pretty irritating.  The "text write" vi is too slow to use.  Is there some way to use the table write vi without Excel flashing on every update?  I tried the excel command Application.ScreenUpdating = False  in a macro in my template but that doesn't do anything.
    Thanks, Mike

    Hard to tell without seeing your actual VI but my guess is that you are using the Excel Easy Table.vi in a loop. If you open the diagram of this vi you will see that there is a subVI called Set Report Font.vi in it, so for each iteration of your loop this subVI is reformatting the report font. That is probably what causes the blinking that you see. As a possible workaround you can create your own version of this vi without the Set Report Font function (note: it is a bad idea to try to modifiy directly the toolkit vi).

  • How to show photo in form portlet when using ORDSYS.ORDIMG?

    I built a Form based on table that has ORDSYS.ORDIMG column.
    When I query the form,the photo shows. And then I publish this
    form to portal and add in a page. But the form portlet doesn't
    show picture, when I query. Why? What should I do?
    Please help me. I'm looking forward to hearing from all of
    you
    Thank you,
    Sirin

    Well I don't know how to use the ORDSYS.
    So I've created a solution myself using javascript.
    I created a table with a column "image" as VARCHAR2. Using the portal image fieldtype (in a form) will store the image name in the table-column and the actual image in a portal own table.
    1) First in the form added a new field (label only)
    2) The label is "<IMG SRC=/images/blank.gif NAME=test>"
    NB. I'm not sure if I added the blank image myself or not but it is a small gif in the images directory with only a transparent color.
    3) In the Additional PL/SQL Code section ... after displaying the page I added the following code;
    DECLARE
    v_image VARCHAR2(200);
    BEGIN
    v_image := p_session.get_value_as_VARCHAR2(
    p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
    p_attribute_name => 'A_<imagefieldname>');
    IF v_plaatje IS NOT NULL THEN
    HTP.PRINT('<script language="JavaScript">
    if(document.images)
    document.test.src="http://<hostname>/pls/portal30/docs/'||v_image||'";
    </script>');
    END IF;
    END;

  • Sleek xfers like IPOD when using multi pc

    does the sleek xfer files like the ipod... as in, if you sync with PC # and then sync with your laptop or PC #2, do you have to delete your playlist and music thats playable (not using as a flash dri've option)? Or is the Sleek like the Neeon, whereas you can sync the player on multiple computers w.o deleting your playlist... I like to travel between my home pc and my dorm laptop.
    Thanks

    It depends on what software you use I would imagine.
    Assuming the MTP version of the Sleek, I understand with WMP it syncs both playlists from WMP and the content. I'm not sure if the playlists are a one way sync.
    There is of course other software like Creative's MediaSource (and maybe other software that Creative ship with it).

  • Most Iphone photos are cut off when using any app (ie CVS, Shutterfly etc). Is there any way to prevent this?

    From what I've read cut off photos are due to iPhone not being 3:2 ratio, but what can I do to fix this? I take all of my photos on my iPhone and printing them out is ALWAYS a disappointment and I feel like my pictures are useless.

    If you go to Walmart they have a specific app to print your photos from your iPhone.
    Also with other stores they have good systems to print out photos from smart phones and iPhones now a days. And yes by official kiosk I meant any store with a photo printing machine, because if you print at home, size adjustments and all that are very complicated...unless you are like a professional perhaps...
