Photo booth question

I love the effects of photo booth (like that drawing one and the andy warhol one) is there a way to apply those effects to photos I have in say iPhoto? Not ones taken with my icam?
Thanks,
Susan

Actually this is possible but you will need to install XCode Tools first. Insert the Leopard install disk. Then when the window opens pick *Optional Installs* then install *Xcode Tools*. Once it is installed you will have a new Folder called Developer. Open it and look under *Graphic Tools* and open *Core Image Fun House.app*
You can use this to apply different effects to your pictures. There are more special effects than offered in Photo Booth. Have fun.

You move it back to the Applications folder or reinstall it from your OS install disk, using Pacifist if needed.

  • Why does my photo booth have a question mark on it when I try to open it?

I have never had an issue with my photo booth but recently when I try to open it, a question mark appears on it when I click on the icon

You need to reinstall it. This may require Pacifist.

  • Question; is anyone else having problems using photo Booth?

Hi Lion users!  I have been looking through the forum posts looking for anwsers to some of the wrinkles that I have come across after installing OS Mac os x v10.7.
Not that it is my biggest worry but for some reason when I launch Photo Booth, I get an error message "Photo Booth couldn't save your photos" "Photo Booth encountered an error when trying to save your photos. Your photos cannot be saved at this time."
I don't see the camera in the system profile, this can't be possible?
The application opens fine and I can see that the i Sight camera picks up images but the error message pops up the minute that I try and click the shutter button. The built in iSight camera appears to be working with other applications i.e. iChat and I have reset the SMC/PMU.
I would appreciate any insight or suggestions!

Problem solved for anyone that understood this and was looking for some answers. Thanks goes to maahs_k wish it was not archived so that I could reward you with some points!

  • Photo Booth, iChat animation green, red, black pixels

Since my upgrade of Leopard, I have a anoying adverse side effect. I notice that when I use the cool new backdrops that have animation in iChat or Photo Booth, that the windows will flicker with (usually green) pixels in a diagnal pattern. I suspect this is a core animation issue but would loved to be proved wrong (only if there is an resolution to my issue . I am able to duplicate the issue 100% of the time. I have also seen this happen to my task bar as well except it will turn black.

  • In Photo Booth are the video back drops copyrighted?

I am creating a DVD for my students and would like to use the Yosemite waterfall clip in a relaxation segment
    of the production.
    Is it copyrighted by Apple?
If it is, then I won't use it.
If this is not the best community for this question, could someone please point me in the right direction?

I am not a lawyer, and I do not know the answer to your question.
However, if I were contemplating doing what you describe, I or my attorney would make initial inquiry beginning at Apple's media.help email address shown in this Apple Legal page: http://www.apple.com/legal/trademark/copyright.html
Photo Booth and its components are part of your Mac OS, so your attorney may be able to determine whether the End User Software License Agreement for your Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) software is relevant to your questions about the Yosemite waterfall clip.

  • Photo Booth is not working

I have used photo booth in the past but now when I click on its icon in the dock, nothing happens. Any ideas please?

Thankyou for your reply. I followed your advice and downloaded pacifist and then went in search of the missing files. They were found and I installed them BUT, when I restarted my computer, I had encountered a major problem. The computer continuously flashed the finder and desktop windows and was totally unresponsive to any commands. The only way to stop was to hold down the power button. On restart, the same problem existed - weird! In desperation, I reloaded Mac OS and the problems have gone. I even have PhotoBooth back.
One final question. Can I now delete the 'Previous System Folder' that was created during the reload of the system software?
Thanks again to you and Aqua for your support and patience.

  • Photo booth .qtz's in iMovie

    Hi,
I am trying to do a green screen effiect in iMovie without a green screen. This is possible in photo booth with the background effects. I have been suprised to find that these effects are not available in iMovie. This question has been asked before and I have seen threads were people say that iMovie is not powerful enough to do this. I would think that if photo booth can do this in real time then iMovie would be possible enough to render this? - or am I missing something?
Basically my question is, does anyone know how to use this effect in iMovie or is there a work around to produce this effect?
    Thanks

no, this effect can not be used in iM.
when you use the effect in PhotoBooth, you see how it works:
you create a shot of the bg without you
this is used as in any pic processor creating a 'difference mask' to the live scene
the resulting 'black' is used for a luma-key
.... but this is a very ... rude method, far from quality, iM could create.
    esp. luma-keying is a bit … 'say old-fashioned.
the green-screen is superb in iM, no fancy colors or equipment needed. get any green cloth (I'm using a 4€ 'fleece' blanket, avoids reflections)  as background, try to illuminate it, keep a distance btw. subject and bg (zoom or use iM's green-screen crop tool), there's no need for a green studio!
... funny thing: a perfect lighted bg does work worse in iM than a 'bad' lighted one

  • Photo booth won't open

i dont know if im in the right place to be asking this question but it's related more to what i need to ask then the other choices.
whenever i try to open photo booth i get a message saying:
"Photo booth cannot open because no camera is attached or the camera is in use by another application.
Make sure your digital video camera is properly attached and turned on. If you are using the camera with another application, close that application before trying to open Photo Booth again."
my camera is built into the computer (i have an imac intel duo core) and there are no other applications open when i try to get into it. please can someone help me.

  • I can't use Photobooth - when I open the app, I get the message: "Photo Booth couldn't save your photos - Photo Both encountered an error when trying to save your photos. You photos cannot be saved at this time."

I can't use Photobooth - when I open the app, I get the message: "Photo Booth couldn't save your photos - Photo Both encountered an error when trying to save your photos. You photos cannot be saved at this time."
i tried adding user macintosh hd/users/your_user/pictures/"photo booth"  but still photo booth is not working and even images in photo booth cant be deleted they keep coming back

    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box markedAllow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use  another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Photo Booth available for non iMacG5?

Is Apple's new Photo Booth application available for Macs other than the new iMacG5? I bought the new iMacG5 for my daughter and the family loves Photo Booth. I wanted to give my son an iSight camera with Tiger upgrade for his dual 2GHz Mac for Christmas. Does the latest Tiger upgrade include a Photo Booth application that will work with any Mac?

As explained in the first of the iMac G5 (iSight): Frequently Asked Questions, Photo Booth only available with the new iMac G5 (iSight) computer.
Photo Booth does NOT come with Tiger.
Some of the many other apps that can be used with iSight are shown in Some Applications You Can Use With iSight
