Photo booth - restore accidentally deleted photos

i somehow accidentally deleted all of my photo booth photos. i attempted to restore them using suggestions on forums but nothing worked. i eventually thought i found some solution when i right clicked on 'photo booth library' in my pictures folder and opened 'show package contents' i then dragged all of my photos that i'd recovered from the trash into the 'pictures' folder where photos i had just now taken on photo booth were - opened photo booth and my old photos still weren't there.
can anyone help me with this issue?

Did you use Sherlock to search?
Did you check your Applications folder?
If yes to the above then you can custom install Photo Booth from DVD #1 that originally came w/your computer. Photo Booth should be inside the *Bundled Software* folder. If not there, check the Applications folder.
If you still cannot locate PB on the DVD you will need to use Pacifist

  • Accidentally deleted photo booth (and other preinstalled apps) on ipad

I think my little one deleted FaceTime, Photo Booth, Camera, and a couple other apps on our new iPad. How can I get them back?

I'm puzzled why Time Machine didn't work.  You can open the Photo Booth app from the applications folder in Time Machine ( it took a long time for the folder to start operating, but after about a minute wait the applications folder worked just like the on on the current desktop) from your last good system.  You don't have to completely restore the whole system.  Just open the app in the Time Machine folder, and you should be good to go.  I accidentally deleted Photo Booth yesterday, and restored it today by opening the app from Time Machine of a few days ago.

  • How to restore my deleted photo book?

Accidentally deleted my photo book under Keepsakes but there is no UNDO!
I can try using time machine but is there a faster easier way to get just the photo book I accidentally deleted. There was no UNDO key and there was nothing in the trash that looked like a photo book. Is there a place where that data is stored so I can restore it easily. Why is there no UNDO for that?
    Thanks for any help.
    Dave

One way to recover some real estate on your boot drive is to use Monolingual to remove all of the unneeded language modules. Just do not remove English or American English. Also do not use any of the other features of Monolingual. I saved nearly 1 GB of space on my MBP the first time I ran it.
You can't restore to an external HD. You could copy your current library to the external, make sure it's operating, delete it from the boot drive, enter TM and restore the library to the boot drive. When you've finished with the book, follow the directions in Old Toad's Tutorial #9 - Archiving an iPhoto 6/7 Book for Ordering Copies at a Later Date or #9a - Archiving an iPhoto 7/8 Book for Use/Editing at a Later Date so you can cull down the library so it will fit on a DVD/CD for archiving. Then delete the library from the boot drive and move your working library back to the boot drive.

Hi, I accidentally deleted photos from my photo stream, causing them to disappear from my camera roll aswell. I am desperate to get these photos back. Is there any way I can recover them? Thanks

    Hi Am1121,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
If you have a backup of your iPhone on either iCloud or iTunes from the time when those photos were on the Camera Roll, you can restore from that backup and recover those photos. Please use the following article for information on restoring from backups.

  • Retrieving accidentally deleted photos

Is there any way to recover accidentally deleted photos from the iphone? I was on vacation so I had not backed up any new pics. Thanks!

Unfortunately, if you haven't synced to create a backup or turned on Photo Stream there's no way to recover them once deleted.

  • I accidentally deleted photos on my ipod touch, is their a way to get them back

    hello everyone,
i accidentally deleted photos i need, can you get them back.i havent made a back up with the photos i need, i tried alot of programs to get them back but that didn't help. i heard that when you delete photos from a portable device like ipod, the photo itself isn't deleted, just the space containing the deleted photos is now marked as free space so it is available to the system for other new files to be written there instead. Do you know where deleted phtos are stored? Can you please help me, is there a photo recovery that actuallyworks, and what is it?
Thank you all for your help

    They are gone.
    Sorry.
You should be importing pics to your computer regularly as with any digital camera.

  • Accidentally deleted photo booth?!

i accidentally deleted my photo booth application from the computer, not the dock. i tried using pacifist with the os x instal disc and the applications install disc but i cant find the photo booth application anywhere.
am i just not looking that well enough or does photo booth not come on either disc?

i restored it and used it. i now have the application, which is progress, but now i dont have the effects that come with PB. its just a couple of random ones that dont work at all.
everything else works. the camera is recognized, it takes the picture while its in the normal effect mode, but when i click effects, grey screens appear where the effects should be.
ive deleted PB and tried reinstalling to see if the problem will go away, but no luck. any suggestions?

  • OS 10.6.4 photo booth restore

    Hi.
I accedentially and without knowing deleted or damaged my Photo Booth application.  How do I get it back?
I do not have an external drive set up to use time capsule FYI.. Nor do I have the web based backup.
I tried to find it on the disc labeled Applications Install Disc but it's not there.
I am nervous to use the OS X install disc because my personal files are not backed up.  Any insight or help as to how to get this fun little application back ???
    THANKS !

Insert the Snow Leopard DVD into the optical drive. Navigate into the Optional Installs folder and double-click on the package labeled "Optional Installs" or "Install Pre-bundled Software." Check if PhotoBooth is available as a separate installation. If it isn't, then the following is the procedure you will need to follow. I would not be concerned about losing any files.
How Restore Deleted or Missing OS X Components
A few of the basic OS X installed applications can be restored from the Optional Installs installer located in the Optional installs folder on your Installer DVD.  However, if what you need is not there then follow the instructions below.
How to Use Pacifist to Restore Deleted or Missing OS X Components
Insert the OS X Installer DVD into the optical drive.  Use a simple utility like TinkerTool to toggle invisibility so you can see invisible items.  Alternatively, open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and at the prompt enter the following:
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles Yes
    Press RETURN.
To turn off the display of invisible files repeat the above command substituting No for Yes.
The install packages are located in the /System/Installation/ folder on the DVD.
Download the shareware utility Pacifist. Use it to extract a fresh copy of the missing item(s) from the file archives on your OS X installation DVD. The file archives are in the /System/Installations/ folder (use Go to Folder option in the Go menu of the Finder.)
Here are Four Basic ways to use Pacifist (courtesy of George Orville.)
Drag a .pkg icon onto the Pacifist window .....proceed to step 7.
Click on “Open Package ....” and navigate to package desired and click “Open” in the open/save window.....proceed to step 7.
Insert Mac OS X installer CD and when it mounts, navigate to .... Menu->Go->Go to Folder. In the path field enter or paste ....
/Volumes/disc name/System/Installation/Packages (where disc name is the name of the CD/DVD that you inserted.)
Click on the  "Go" button ..... • Drag a .pkg to Pacifist..... proceed to step 7.
The package you'll need will have to be discovered by trial and error, but for most applications you should start with the Essentials.pkg and/or Additional Essentials.pkg.
    D. Insert your Mac OS X install disk 1 .... and open Pacifist.
    1.          In Pacifist, select "Open Mac OS X Install Packages" ... dialog may appear asking for disk 2, then disk 3 and finally disk 1 again.... {if DVD is not used)...If “Stop Loading” is selected...the procedure will stop!!!
2a. When loading is complete, a new window appears, click the triangle to display contents of each package...Select item and proceed to step 7.
2b.          or click the “Find” icon in the Pacifist window and type the name of the software you need.
    3.          In the list that comes back, click the top most entry for the item that you want. ..... that is the one for the English language.
    4.          On the top of the Pacifist window, click “verify” .... you will probably be prompted for your password.
    5.          Enter checks for.... “verify permissions” and “verify file contents.” and click “verify” ....enter password when prompted.... you will get back output which may look like this:
20 files were scanned. 20 of 20 files were present on the hard disk. 0 of 20 files had file permissions that did not match those specified in the package. 0 of 20 files had checksums that did not match those specified in the package.
    6.          Click “close”. Go to step 7.
    Extract or Install........
    7.          In the Toolbar (upper left), you now have the option to extract or install. Click a file in the lower list and those two icons will be enabled.
    8.          If “Extract to...” is selected.... navigate to the location where the file will be placed, select “choose”, select “extract” in new dialog that appears, authenicate , if prompted, click “OK”.
    9.          In the next dialog, click “Extract”.

    11.          Type in your password, click “OK”
Pacifist will begin to extract files.
    12.          In steps 8/10ß.... you also have the choice to “cancel”
Notes:          Pacifist may find that a file it is installing already exists on the hard disk. Pacifist will present you with an alert panel....
    Stop
    Leave original alone
    Update .....
    Default selection
Replace .... (Replace option should only be used on full install packages)

  • How do I re-install Photo booth? I deleted it off of my computer completely about a year ago by accident.

How do I get Photo booth back after I've deleted it completely? Thanks!

PhotoBooth is one of those programs that only get installed with a OS X re-install.
So even though you may pop the 10.6 install disk and run the bundled programs installer, you won't get PhotoBooth.
It's ok, you don't have to wipe the drive to get PhotoBooth just follow these steps
1: first check to see if you just didn't remove the Dock Alias for PhotoBooth, look in your Applicaitons folder for the original and drag it back to it's spot on the Dock. your done. stop.
2: backup your user files folders (music, pictures etc) off the machine to a storage drive and disconnect
3:  pop in your 10.6 machine specific disk that came with the computer, if you upgraded to 10.7 you'll have to hold command r and boot into Lion Recovery. Simply, Reinstall OS X, do not erase the drive.
4: Reboot and hold the shift key down, go to Software Update and update fully to get OS X back to current version
5: Reboot normally and PhotoBooth should have returned.
6: Go around and test your third party programs, some may have gotten disabled as the install kext files into OS X that got kicked out, so reinstall those programs from orignal sources. IF you get gray screen or hangs, reboot with shift key down and update those programs with incompatible kext files.
(note: I know it works for 10.6, not sure with 10.7)
Another option is to use Pacifist to extact PhotoBooth from the OS X install disks and replace it, it's hard to find so dig deep into the OS X installer, it's not in the bundled programs pkg. Note, I haven't tried this.
I think because of the Mac spying issue in Philli that involved schoolchildren in their homes, that Apple took extra pre-cautions with PhotoBooth that require a OS X install to return it back to OS X, so it's not included in the bundled program installer.
    Good Luck
