Photo Booth's Camera ONLY Works When All Apps Quit?

Hello all.
I was trying to take a picture with Photo Booth but the camera "was dead", i.e. not active/turn on
- Safari, Mail, MSN Messenger, EyeTV and FeedTicker were on
I have to quit all other apps, relaunch Photo Booth to get it working.
Is any one of them interfering with the camera function? (perhaps MSN Messenger?)

Here's a long shot: Sometimes camera weirdness can be fixed by resetting the PRAM.

As you can see from macbookair Technical Specifications, there are many different models of MBAs.
Your "mid 2011 Air" does not need the "mid 2013 Air" fix. Only a "mid 2013 Air" running OS X 10.8.5 needs that workaround.

With all you have tried, there is still something wrong with your MBA's software or hardware. Here's how I would proceed.
Use the Disk Utility in OS X Recovery (not your normal startup disk's Disk Utility) to repair your disk (not disk permissions).
If Disk Repair does not immediately return proper camera function, use the OS X Recovery System to reinstall your Mac OS X.
You can use the troubleshooting techniques from http://support.apple.com/kb/ HT2090 to determine proper camera function.
If your System Information utility still does not recognize your camera as a USB device after the repair/reinstall, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

Upgraded to Lion, waited for the update.01. Camera is not working in any program. Tryed the SMU reset with no effect.

You list two machines in your specs that are not Intel Macs and do not list a computer that can run Lion.
Does the camera appear in System Profiler (Hardware > USB) ?
Is Blue Tooth On ?
Any other potential USB internally connected item that may be drawing too much power ?
Any External USB device that is Unpowered ?
Try the equivilant of the Firewire Port reset.
Unplug all external devices.
Power down for 15 minutes using Shut Down (Unplug Power as well if Laptop)
Start up with no external devices.
Try Camera (App).
Start adding back external devices.

I have made a rather annoying discovery. Emails are being pushed, provided the app runs in the background. In Mobile Me times this was not necessary.
I think you should know that before wasting your time.

Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)

Photo Booth - green camera light on - no picture showing

The green camera light fo the iSight camera is lit up. but when i go to Photo Booth, there is only a black screen - no image is showing, Can anyone tell me how to get an image?

Hello Anne, (joyfulsoul)
Merely restarting you Mac may also fix your problem. If not, disconnect any USB peripherals and restart your Mac to see if the problem was caused by a conflict.
If your problem persists after the restart, try all relevant suggestions from Apple's How to Troubleshoot iSight.
If the reset suggested there does not correct your problem, and if PB is the ONLY app that does NOT work properly with ANY app that uses iSight in ANY user account that you test, quit Photo Booth. Then delete the Photo Booth Preferences file (com.apple.photobooth.plist) from your Home / Library / Preferences folder. Then launch Photo Booth again and see if the problem is corrected.
If none of the above helps and you need to post back for other suggestions, please list EVERY apps that work correctly with your iSight and EVERY one that does not. Also tell us whether the problem is EXACTLY the same in every user account you tested.
If necessary, we will offer specific suggestions based on the details in your response.

i`m using cisco cucm-BE with mgcp protocol with the gateways,
In the unity configuration, -->call management-->system call handler-->operator-->edit - transfer call-->standard-->under the transfer action
I choose Transfer call to : Extension and i put 0 and i choose ofcourse supervise transfer, and checked the box for "wait while....".
By doing the above config ,
When someone called form the pstn to the cucm and after he hear the autoattendant:
the MOH only works when i press 0 (the operator) and when i press an internal extension i hear a ring back tone and sometimes i hear the MOH for one second and then the ring back tone played ....... dialing 0 only let me hear the MOH Normally after "wait while i transfer your call"
how i can hear the MOH too after i dial the internal extension normally?
the following is done:
-am using unicast MOH
- that media resource is enabled. Media Resource->MoH Server and verify that the run flag is set to YES.
- Restart the Cisco IP Voice Media Stream App service.
- Check if G711,G729 is enabled for MoH in Service Parameters->Call Manager->Cisco IP Voice Media Stream App service.
- the IP Phones or Gateways has assigned the MRGL that include the MOH resource.

Brand new iPod 4 just purchased yesterday (Jan 9 2012) and it is running the latest rev of iOS. Seeing the exact same problem. The camera can be accessed from the lock screen and it works. BUT, if I try and access the camera from the icon, I get a black screen.
Apple, is this a hardware or software issue?

Does Lightroom only work when I am online? Do I have to be online to process or work on files? If I cannot be online, eg, when in a remote area with no service, how do I process my photo's?

You can easily test this by cutting off all network access to your computer (turn off wi-fi or disconnect the network cable). You'll find that you can still get stuff done if there is no Internet. Especially if you are using the non-subscription version of Lightroom, which doesn't need to check in at all after it's first licensed.
If you do use Lightroom through a subscription to Creative Cloud, the annual plan has an offline mode limit of 99 days (over 3 months); the limit is 30 days offline for the monthly plan. And if you stop your subscription, you still have access to your images and some Lightroom features.

Apple, as I said, does not repair your iPhone. All hardware service issues are handled by replacing the unit. So they can't handle the home-button issue without also addressing the issue of the cracked screen, for which they'll almost certainly charge you. But you can make an appointment at an Apple Store or call Apple tech support and plead your case.

When I finish my work I turn off the imac and then again when they return to work and care, it can not connect to Time Capsule Airport, making it impossible to remove the files and make back up by Time Machine only works when I turn off and turn on the Airport Time Capsule , but I think this may end up with the unit. In the airport utility bring up your Time Capsule.

Please also make sure you are set to ipv6 in your wireless or ethernet .. whichever is used.. and do tell which.
This is wifi in your computer.
The following are important..
DO not use long names with spaces and non-alphanumeric names.
Use short names, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
eg TC name. TCgen5
Wireless name TCwifi
Use WPA2 Personal security with 10-20 character pure alphanumeric password.
read apple instructions to help with TM and TC.. they did finally admit it has issues in Mavericks.

Upgrading to Mavericks wrecked my MacBook Pro & now it only works when external hard drive is plugged in

So I tried to upgrade to Mavericks today and it failed (same error as in this post which seemed to be a common problem). It wouldn't let me repair the disk, and after trying all sorts I rebooted my computer in recovery mode - it wouldn't let me reinstall Lion because the hard drive was apparently locked and I could see no way around this. So I decided to restore from a Time Machine backup on an external hard drive and that worked okay, except my MacBook now only works when the external hard drive is connected. If I remove the external hard drive, I'm back to square one as it still won't let me reinstall Lion as the HD is locked!
I have no idea what's going on. HELP!

The startup drive is failing, or there is some other internal hardware fault.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

ALL-PHOTOS-VIDEOS buttons don't work in iOS app

I just downloaded the Revel iOS app which I found amazing! The best memories cloud storage solution I've found so far!
I found an issue with the app, when watching all the photos in a library, the ALL PHOTOS VIDEOS buttons don't work at all. They overlap the search bar. I'm using the app in an iPhone 6 plus.
Will you support the iPhone 6 and 6 plus resolutions? I see the latest iOS version is from July 31st 2014. I wouldn't want to use an app that is not updated!

Adobe isn't responding to requests for information about the future of the iOS app, or even the future of the service itself. ZTE Open C Accelerometer only works when phone is upside down?

I just received my new ZTE Open C and when I tried a few games, like Sketchbook Squad, for example, I found that the accelerometer control ONLY works if I hold my phone upside down.
Does anyone know if this may be an OS related issue relating to calibration, or maybe it's a defective device?

Can you please list *all* the apps that you are having problems with? Please specify which of those apps the accelerometer do not seem to work at all, and which of those apps the accelerometer only works when the phone is upside down. This information will help greatly in investigating this issue.
Please also let us know the Build ID of your ZTE Open C device. To find the Build ID, go into '''Settings''' > '''Device Information''' > '''More Information'''.

Only works when plugged in

My iPad 2 was left on overnight, not plugged in with the battery at 95% last I checked. This morning it was off and I was unable to turn it on. I plugged it into the charger and it seemed to start up, but the date and time had been reset to December 31st 1969 at 4pm!!! Then, I tried to reset the date and time but it would automatically keep going back to that date. When I went to unplug it, so I could sync it with iTunes, it turned off immediately! It only works when plugged into the charger and even then it turned itself off after about 2 minutes. While unplugged, I tried a hard reset (holding the home and sleep/wake button down at same time for 15 seconds, but it doesn't do anything at all. I did notice that it was pretty hot yesterday, but didn't have any problems running it at all. Any suggestions, or is this clearly a hardware problem? Thanks in advance.

When it was plugged in, it was at 95% so that's not the issue. THe battery appears charged, but the device simply doesn't want to run on it. The weird date reset makes me think it could potentially be a software issue, but I'm worried it is essentially a hardware/battery problem.

Does iMessages only work when writing to people who have i05, or can you write to people using other systems ?

I have an iPad 2, but have never yet been able to send a iMessage....does this only work when writing to people who also have i05, or can you also write to people who use other systems ?
iMessages is turned on on my system, but even when writing to people who I know have iPads or iPhones , I just get the red exclamation mark....
Sending messages on my iPhone seems to work okay when sending to non iPhone users, so I don't understand what's wrong here .
