Photo booth unable to initialize logitech C910 webcam on first launch

When I try to open the Photo Booth application, the camera cannot be initialized, the image shows a spinning white circle. But if I launch the Logitech Webcam Software, and allow the image to show, then quit LWS and now I launch Photo Booth, the camera is now working.
I guess that this is a Lion Bug, since before upgrading to this version, on Snow Leopard the Photo Booth showed the image as soon as the app was launched.
How can I summit this bug to Apple?
Does anyone have the same issue and found a fix for this besides opening Photo Booth twice or launching the Logitech Software before PB?

Hi Paul,
Some feedback is easier than others.
For instance iChat has it's own page http://www.apple.com/feedback/ichat.html
Photo Booth is one of those few Apple apps that does not have a Feedback page of that sort.
I would ask in Discussions Feedback stating how the problem occurred and how to repeat it. Some one there may be able to point to a better place for a specific feedback.

  • Photo Booth doesn't recognize logitech camera

I have a logitech camera, it works with Skype, iChat and is recognized by Photo Booth but the screen (photo booth screen) is black. If I take a picture, it counts down but then nothing. The camera works in all other apps. If I remove my Elgato Hybrid, then it works...nothing else I have tried, helps. Any suggestions?

I downgraded the photo booth app using pacifist to an older version and it now works fine after experiencing the same issues you report.
This was on a G4 MDD upgraded to 10.5.8. I installed Photo BOoth 1.0 and now works fine. 10.5.8 Photo Booth version is 2.0.3.

  • 27' Imac version 10.8.2 webcam doesn't work on any softwares: photo booth, skype, ichat...!

I got the new imac 27 inch 3.2 GHZ last week, the version is 10.8.2. I tried to use photo booth, skype and other softwares for webcam, but none of them work. They just turned black and stopped there. How can I do to test it or it's obviously broken?
    Thank you!

If you have not already done so, shut down Mac, restart, and try again.  If the iSight still does not work, try all relevant suggestions from Apple's http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
(Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD."  Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)

  • Photo Booth is just a black screen sometimes?

Sometimes when I open Photo Booth, the green light for my webcame turns on but the preview screen is just black. And when I take the pic, its all black. But if i connect my webcam throught Skype or something it never goes black. Just sometimes with Photo booth it does this. Usually I close it and open again in a few minutes and it works fine, but today it just keeps going black no matter how many times I quit. Idk what to do.

just let the battery drained then charged it see what happens

  • Photo Booth - How do you delete?

I went into my photo albums today and I noticed a new area called "Photo Booth" which I had never seen before. First I do not know how a pic got into this area and also I would like to know how to delete it? I have no issues with the pics that are in the "Photo Roll" area, but this one is new to me and it has no delete option and does not import either into Itunes which later gives you the option to remove the originals after an import. Thanks, Peter

The photo booth album would have been created when someone took a photo using the Photo Booth application.

  • No webcam detected with Photo Booth

    Hi
I have a MacMini early 2006 & a Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000. Everything worked fine with Leopard in using Macam drivers to use my webcam with all possible applications (Skype, Photo Booth).
I just upgraded to Snow Leopard & Photo Booth (as well as iChat) tell me there is no webcam connected to my MacMini. Nevertheless, in using Skype & Macam drivers on this new MacOS, it works fine.
Any suggestion I could try to fix that boring trouble ?
    Thanks

    Hi
Thanks for the tips. Even if it improved a little bit the situation (npw Photo Booth displays the name of my camera in the menu), it still doesn't work...
What is strange is that I didn't change anything with Skype who works very well with my webcam & the same Macam drivers...
    Any other idea ??
    Thanks

  • I recently upgraded to Yosemite on MacBook Pro - unable to open iPhoto and Photo Booth

I recently upgraded to OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 on my MacBook Pro (bought in 2011).  Since the Yosemite upgrade, I have been unable to open both iPhoto and Photo Booth at all.  I have lots of photos and need to access them. Both icons of iPhoto and Photo Booth have a circle with a bar across them, in my dock.
When I click on iPhoto I get the message " In order to open “iPhoto”, you need to update to the latest version. The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac is not compatible with OS X Yosemite. Download the latest version for free from the Mac App Store".  I have tried upgrading iPhoto on the App store but get an error message "The item you've requested is not currently available in the U.S. store" .
Since I cannot even view my photos, I cannot store them elsewhere.  Please, can someone help me resolve this problem!!!
For Photo Booth, when I click on it, it says "You can’t use this version of the application “Photo Booth” with this version of OS X. You have Photo Booth 3.0.3" - gives me no option to upgrade at all.
Would appreciate help for both iPhoto and Photo Booth issues described above, with iPhoto being the most pressing concern. Thank You.

The new app is called Photos. It's icon was added to the Dock. Both, Photos and iPhoto, are located in your Applications folder.
If you need to upgrade iPhoto, follow these instructions prepared by Barney-15E: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-8431

  • Photo Booth compatible webcams?

Does anyone know of any webcams that are compatible with Photo Booth and iChat? Since I have a Mac Mini, I need something 3rd party that would work since Apple no longer sells the iSight stand-alone. Any advice?

    Hello supermanguy87
    Some info at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5725045&#5725045
Compatilbe Firewire webcams or camcorders mentioned in this link will work regardless of your OS provided you avoid possible conflicts.
If you are using 10.4.9 or later, you can use UVC cams without additional drivers.
If you use earlier Mac OS X versions, you can use compatible USB cams by adding the iChatUSBCam software mentioned in the above link. (Many of the "pre-UVC" USB cams also need additional driver software, even if you are using 10.4.9 or later.) See the iChatUSBCam web site for FAQs, more info, and a list cameras that can provide a Knowing Working Configurations.

  • How do I get my webcam working on my skype and yahoo messenger, even though it is working well on photo booth?

How do i get my webcam working on my skype and yahoo messenger, even though my cam is working on photo booth ( and i am tlking of the mbp with latest OX).

you need to go into the preferences of the actual programs and make the proper settings...
Such as in Yahoo, go to preferences, Webcam tab, sub tab Video and make sure you have the proper camera selected in the drop down menu of video source. In your case built-in isight camera.

  • Photo Booth and Logitech Vision Pro

    Hi there
I bought a Logitech Vision Pro Quick Cam since it is said to be compatible with OS X.
It works fine on my mac with Skype, but both Photo Booth and iMovie won't recognize the camera.
iChat on the other hand will work. I contacted Logitech and they were of no help.
All they said was that since they don't program the drivers, it's not their fault (the camera is working with Skype).
Any suggestions how to get Photo Booth (and iMovie) to recognize my Vision Pro?
    Thanks
    Mat

    Hummm,
Lid closed => gives external cameras only does seem sensible.
If open => All cameras in iChat (And whichever was or was not plugged in for Photo Booth) However this only applies to Photo Booth if Started after the camera is Plugged in.
Certainly the last applies to Firewire cameras.
Currently I have a problem with Photo Booth on my MacBook Pro which I have only just discovered trying to replicate this.
The Camera is defaulting to only the Internal iSight and also not displaying properly. (it works in iChat)
IF you are going to have the Lid closed why do you want the iSight to be used ?
I can understand that the closed Lid will disable the iSight and therefore change your Settings
Does it in fact revert when the iSight can be used again ?
I can only see that this is likely to be only done when the Lid is Open.

  • Webcam displays red screen in FaceTime and Photo Booth

I haven't used my built-in webcam recently, but when I tried to use FaceTime, the screen is showing bright red with no video. The Photo Booth shows the same thing. Any ideas or fixes?

After the original (flawed) update to OS X 10.8.5 was installed, the internal camera of a 2013 MacBook Air would not work in Skype and some other third-party applications. The flaw was fixed in a supplemental update. However, if you followed some questionable advice that was circulating on this site to hack your system before installing the supplemental update, then it will not restore camera functionality; in fact, the camera won't work at all. The solution in that case, most likely, is to install the 10.8.5 Combo update.
In the future, I suggest you ignore advice to hack your system by replacing, removing, or changing built-in system components.

  • Unable to share pictures with Photo Booth Facebook option not working.

So when I try to share pictures by clicking on the Facebook option on Photo Booth, nothing happens. I tried every other option and they all work except for the Facebook one.
I tried to quit every other application and just leave Photo Booth opened, same result.
I deleted the plist file for Facebook...

It appears LR is not getting access to the Drive/Folder where the original file is located. (/volumes/Media Disk/Pictures....)? were the original files copied to a hard drive?

  • Green screen in webcam when I open Photo Booth?

I just bought my new Macbook Pro two weeks ago and sometimes when I open Photo Booth before I appear in the web cam it just turns green for .5 seconds.. is this a defect in the camera, or what? This computer is brand new and I am quite perturbed and I was wondering if I should return it.

Unless your Mac is being slowed by heavy processor load, a slow internet connection, etc., the condition you describe is not normal.  Disconnect your Mac from the internet, restart, and test Photo Booth again.
In addition to the suggestions CMCSK has offered, consider whether you have multiple apps open when you try to use Photo Booth.  Perhaps other running apps are connected to your iSight?  Perhaps your Mac merely needs an unusual amount of time to switch between many apps while continuing to support processor demands of other apps you are also running?  When looking for other apps, be sure to consider "Widgets" in your Mac's Dashboard or "Login Items" in  > System Preferences... > Users & Groups.
If your Photo Booth green symptom occurs immediately following a restart with no other apps running and no interent connection, ask your Apple Care Service Provider to check your Mac ASAP.  It may need to be serviced or exchanged for one that works properly.

  • My i-sight camera hasn't worked for a bit so I bought a logitech external...it works fine on photo booth but i-movie won't recognize it?

Can anyone offer a solution?  Also, how do I get the video on photo booth to "flip" as it records video backwards.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option which is revealed in the iTunes app on your iOS device by tapping the more button at the bottom of the screen.

  • Photo Booth and Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000

I had this working in Tiger 10.4.10 and I can get the camera to do video in iChat but not in photo booth (or iMovie). It just says camera off.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jon

I have a similar problem with my Creative Live! Video IM Pro. (VF0410). It is a UVC camera, and it works in iChat, but displays a very messed up image in Photo Booth and QuickTime Pro. This is on my PowerMac G4, running 10.5 (I just bought the camera, so I never tested it under Tiger)
