Audio not working in Photo Booth, video works fine

When I record video in Photo Booth the video works fine, the audio does not work. I have looked through other forums and tried what they have suggested but nothing is working. I sware it worked once but now I can't figure it out.

Photo booth video recording not working

I was recording a video with photo booth and while it was recording it was showing that the record button was on and that it was recording. But when i went to view it had only recorded 30 seconds of it. I didnt change the screen or touch the computer. Someone help please.

~/Library/Preferences.
Move that fileo to the Trash and restart your Mac.

Squeal noise with photo booth video recording.

I use my iSight and Photo booth to record video for YouTube. Every time I get finished recording and go to play the video back, there is a hum/squeal/high pitched noise along with the audio.
Anyone know what's up??

The original poster of this thread says that recording video in bright light eliminates his noise. Apple are aware of that issue, and your problem may be another symptom of the same problem. However, this explanation does not fix your problem. It only lets you know that you are not alone. Here follow some suggestions that may help you correct your problem if the problem is common to both your iMovie and your Photo Booth.
If you recently bought your MacBook, take it back to your retailer and see if he can correct the problem or give you a replacement MacBook that does not have the same problem. As pointed out in the thread I linked above, user obsidianspider was able to trade his new, noisy, MacBook for one with an acceptably low noise level by immediately bringing his specific problem to the attention of the manager of his Apple retailer. If you cannot fix your Photo Booth problem, and if iMovie does not share the same problem, using iMovie would seem to be the simplest solution. However, if you specifically want video effects in the videos you make for YouTube and you cannot get Photo Booth fixed, try a demo of http://www.tweakersoft.com/webcamtweaker.html to see whether it will work for you.

No ichat or photo booth video visible.

So I have been avidly using ichat and photo booth since friday. and today when i tried, (photo booth first) nothing showed up for my video. The built in light was on, saying the camera was connected, but all was black on photo booth. All effects showed no example of what they would look like. The attached link is a screen shot of my photo booth effects. The same issue is present with ichat as well.

Go to the System Profiler.
Open the reveal triangles to Hardware > USB and see if the camera is recognised ?

HT1277 How do i send a Photo Booth video in an email? It is telling me that I cannot use my gmail account to send it.

I tried to send a video i had made on Photo Booth in an email using the Mail application, but a window came up telling me that i could not use gmail to send it. How can i send it without using my gmail email address?

You're gonna have to find a different method. All ISP's limit email attachments, varies from 10MB's to 25MB's...far too small to email a 6 minute video. You can upload to YouTube, use Dropbox, copy to a thumdrive etc. But you won't be able to email.

Photo Booth video not in sync with audio

I searched this problem and saw something about downloading a Combo. I tried that (and the step by step restart, etc that was offered in that discussion) but it will not download on my macbook pro. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4175034?start=15&tstart=0 It says is cannot be installed on the disk because the volume does not meet the requirements. I am using OSX 10.8.2. I would appreciate any help. I'm pretty new to the lingo, so the explicit the directions are the better. Thanks in advance for your time.

Photo booth video effects not recording after upgrade to Lion

I recently upgraded from s.leopard to Lion. Photobooth is working perfectly with the leopard until upgraded to lion, the video effects could not be used and recorded. It only appears in 1 sec when video recording.
I have done the following already according to the forums I read.
1. the 32 bit mode is not ticked.
2. disk utility permissions.
and still not working. Any advise? Thanks

The same Lion-problem here. Everything looks just fine until I press record. Then the effect dissappears. I bought my 28" "BigMac" in february this year, and as the problem is mentioned about a year ago, it might be a major problem since no solution is mentioned anywhere.
So, if you guys see or hear (or smell) anything in the direction of a solution, drop a note.

Photo Booth Video- No Audio!

Yes, Setting the correct Mic in Sys. Preferences - Sound, worked. And after repairing Permissions that also helped. Before repairing Permissions, the Video would Record with Audio but it would stop recording prematurely without giving me an error message or letting me know it stopped recording. After Repairing Permissions, it seemed to fix that problem. I always use Onyx to repair permissions, because with Disk Utility, the same Errors seem to come back. Disk Utility seems to never work in repairing permissions for me. I don't know why !

Photo Booth Video

How come I can't do any "effects" to my short video clip I downloaded to FCE. I can do anything to another one, but not the one I want to use. Even if I add a slug over it, I still see through it. I can't crop it, enlarge it, add a transition--nothin'. It's driving me crazy! I'm sure I must be overlooking something very simple. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

The top layer is the only one you would see if it's 100%. You shouldn't need the SLUG.
If you place the Playhead over the clip in the Timeline, double click that clip, it will open in the Viewer. Both Viewer and Canvas should now display the same clip.
When effects are added to the clip in the Viewer you should see the change reflected in the canvas pretty much straight away.
At this stage click the Viewer>Filter Tab, any filters should be seen.
If none are there go to Browser>Video Filters>Blur>Radial Blur and drag that filter onto the Viewer, filter controls should appear and the Canvas will change. Alter the Steps value to a higher number and you should see more change.
If the above process does not work, you may have to trash the FCE preferences then reboot your Mac.

Photo Booth Video Recording

I am a teacher who used PhotoBooth to create portfolios with my students. In SL, we were able to use a picture of the student's paper as a background effect while the student spoke about it while PhotoBooth recorded. Now with the upgrade to Lion, the effect background is there before recording, but disapears when PhotoBooth starts to record. Is there a glitch??? Am I doing something wrong or can this be fixed soon! I'd hate to have boaring videos for the portfolios.

How do I import photo booth video to FCP7?

I recorded 6 or so 5 minute videos and i want to edit them in FCP7, i also have an audio track mixed down to mp3 from logic pro so the goal here is to match up the video with the audio(the videos have the same audio playing in the background of the video) but I'm having trouble with the following
A. What video codec do i use to edit and what settings in the converter? do i convert it with mpeg streamclip or compressor?
B. can i just drag my mp3 and its audio or should i use aif ect...?
c. what settings should i set the sequencer to as well, frame rate/ratio ect

Photobooth produces H.264 video at about 18fps.
Neither of those specifications are suitable for FCP, which works with industry standard broadcast formats.
Convert in Compressor to ProRes LT. You will also need to change the frame rate without slowing the footage down.
You can't use .mp3 audio either - FCP expects AIFF at 48 kHz, 16 Bit.
Sequence Settings should always match the source material - except yours is unsuitable to begin with.
Look in the Easy Setup menu, that's what FCP works with.

Photobooth keeps crashing whenever I try to watch a photo booth video???

So I recently moved EVERYTHING from my old Mac desktop to my new one. When I record a video and then click to watch it, the recording screen will go black and the little color wheel will show up and long story short, I havent been able to watch any videos for a few days (for the first couple hours after the stuff on my old imac -> new imac, I could watch videos perfectly fine. Maybe its because I am currently updating iPhoto and its taking a veryyyy long time.)
But...with my old iMac, I had about 10 slides of extra photobooth effects. It slowed down photobooth TREMENDOUSLY but I didnt know how to uninstall them.
Unfortunately, those same effects have moved over to my new mac and its driving me nuts. I thought that was the culprit and tried uninstalling them. I cant do Library>Compositions>erase because when I do so, theres nothing there to delete!
What should I do? Also I erased 3ixv and it did nothing for me.
Does anyone have a solution???

Photo Both video (.mov) file size in Lion

Photo Both in Lion saves videos (.mov) with double the file size of previous versions. I have verified by looking at a 30 second video created pre-Lion (2.1mb) and a new 30 second video created post-Lion (4.1mb) on the same MacBook Air. I have seen even more drastic file size increses on a newer MacBook Pro; more that 20mb for a video that used to be under 2mb.
There are no settings available in Photo Booth. And as stated in other threads there is no method in Mail to resize a video, this option is only available for images. The only functioning workaroud is to open the .mov file in Quicktime and then export for the web. This is OK, but the beauty of Photobooth and the Mail button within was the ability to just quickly fire off a video. Opening another app, exporting and then attaching to an email is no longer simple or beautiful.
Does anyone know why the filesizes have jumped up so drastically? More importantly, does anyone know how to get the file size of videos created in Photo Booth back under control so they can be emailed more easily?

UPDATE: Using any of the effects in photo booth videos greatly reduces the file size. This seems a bit contrary to what I would expect. Adding birds flying around my head cuts the video size in half. Sepia cuts down to 1/3. Black and white, the one that isnt a suprise, is less that 1/4 the file size of just plain old color.
Why can't I just have the nice small video files that Photo Booth used to save??
