Photo Booth - Where To Store Your Photos?

Hi,
Can someone please explain, are you supposed to store your Photo Booth pictures actually within the Application, or are you eventually supposed to import them into iPhoto or drag them into the Finder? Is there a benefit to keeping your Photo Booth photos within Photo Booth, or are you best off just storing them in a regular folder in the Finder?

Photo Booth doesn't store your saved pictures in the application, it stores them in a Photo Booth folder inside your user's "Pictures" folder. This is where Photo Booth looks for them. If someone else logs in, Photo Booth looks in their "Pictures" folder for their own pictures. So, technically, they are in a folder in the Finder already. It's up to you if you leave them there or move them somewhere else. If you want to include them or use them in an iPhoto, you can certainly do that.

  • Where to store your videos (2014): iPhoto vs iTunes vs iMovie?

I used to store all my home videos in iPhoto, because I think It's better to save videos and pictures together in the same event.
But now that we have a tab in iTunes for 'home videos' and we also have 'theater' tab in iMovie.... Where do you think is better to save your home videos?
The idea is to watch them later in AppleTV, iPads, etc.
    Thank you!

Open iPhoto and iMovie. Find the video is iPhoto and control click to get the contextual menu. There is an option to locate in Finder. Click on that and a Finder window opens with the video file highlighted. Drag that file to iMovie to import. After importing you can delete the one in iPhoto to avoid duplication.
As for events, iMovie automatically lists them by day. By default a event is a day but you can change it anyway you prefer.

  • How does Thunderbird keep track of where it stores your messages?

I am writing a program to isolate certain messages from a messages file. Of course I can hard code the path where the messages are kept at the moment, but when the user changes it, my program will be lost.
I have looked in the registry and profile.ini file with no luck. Anyone knows the answer? Thanks.

The path to messages in Thunderbird is random just for the reason your having trouble. To make programmatic access non trivial.
As you would have observed the profiles.ini contains a path the the root of the profile.
Within the profile mail is stores in profiles\imapmail for IMAP or profiles\mail for pop
Sub folders exist for the server the mail is for, often with a numeric suffix to separate multiple accounts on the same server, or multiple attempts to set up the same account.
These folder can again contain sub folder. depending on the internal structure of folders within Thunderbird.
If the user has specified a custom location for the folder of an account, that information is stored in the prefs.js file along with all other preferences. The account the setting is for is referenced numerically. So you need to establish from the preferences what the account number is, before reading the preference for location.

  • Is there an app where it saves your photo shortly after onto the web/online after taking a picture?

Is there an app where it saves your photo shortly after onto the web/online after taking a picture? In essense, I want to be able to take a picture with the stock camera app on the Iphone 4 and have it saved immediately online after...without hooking it back onto a computer...completely automatic and wireless/using internet data.
    Thanks very much.

If you're running iOS 5.1 or later you could use Photo Stream.  See http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/photo-stream.html and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486.  It will upload up to 1000 photos to iCloud.com for 30 days.

    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box markedAllow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.

You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.

  • I have a file where I store my download music. When I click on "add music" to my ipod my music file opens, but rather than have to drag one song at a time to my ipod, how do I copy the entire file at once to my ipod. - steve

Hi - I have a file where I store my downloaded music. When I plug in my ipod and click on "add music" my file appears. Rather than drag one song at a time, how can I download the entire list at once? - steve

I am not doing it in ITunes, but i did down load the song from ITunes.  I loaded the song on to my Nano, but in my menu selections it doesn't show the song or the artist in any search format.  However, when i plug in my nano to my PC I see the Nano library on my PC drive listings and that song and artist are there.  I can click on the song and it will play in Windows media on my work PC.  I did notice that the format for most all the songs in my library on my Nano are MPEG - 4 audio Files.
    Thanks for your help, Mel

Are there any dialog boxes popping up behind your Yahoo screen?
I have intermittent problems attaching files in Yahoo mail and this is usually the reason.  I'm also using an iMac (10.7.3) and this is likely the problem.
It is generally a Yahoo issue rather than a Mac problem.

  • App Store - Your request is temporarily unable to be processed

    Hey,

  • Where to store data when you have a single app, users can purchase add-ons for the app, and each such purchase needs new files

Hi, I have a hub app and need to give users the option to purchase various add-ons. For each such ad-on, I need to download a new set of files. Where would such files be stored, and how does it work when a new purchase is made? I cant seem to find any
    documentation to guide me.
    Thanks and regards,
    Lynn

    Hi  Lynn,
Read something about in-app purchase documentation:
    Enable consumable in-app product purchases
You can definitely store your file somewhere in your server when the customer buy your product, your app validated, download from that place.

I am about to go get my 4th iphone 4s since November!  Up in the left corner where it shows your signal strength, it goes into searching mode and stays there.  Kills my battery.  While in searching, no calls can be made/recieved, no internet, etc. This one has lasted the longest-I got it December 23.  Any ideas out there?

Both.  The first two, I did use my itunes.  The guy at the apple store said that could be the problem.  The last time they gave me a new phone and SIM card, and the tech said it wouldnt be the itunes.  Just to be safe, I never connected this phone to the itunes until last night-after it started searching- to save everything since I'm sure they will be replacing the phone today.  But hey, thanks for the suggestions.  I'm about at my wits end with Apple!!  Especially since i added a third line to my account just so I could get an iphone back.

  • Where to store customized modelsupport2 and reportgen*.seq files

We currently put all customized model and front end sequences under c:\Documents and Settings\...\TestStand 4.1\Models etc. We have since customized modelsupport2.* and reportgen*.seq files found in Program Files\NI\TestStand 4.1\Components\Models\TestStandModels. Question is where to store these customized files. There is an assortment of subfolders under Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\NI\TestStand 4.1.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

What version of Windows do you have?
The file structure in All Users\Documents\NI\TestStand 4.1 should be similar to that in Program Files\NI\TestStand 4.1.  Essentially they are equal.  The key is TestStand looks in the All Users Directory first.  If it doesn't find it there then it goes into the Program Files one.  You can verify this by opening your search directories (Configure>>Search Directories).  Look for a item in the list called Public components directory.  Look at the path for that.  The very next entry should be TestStand components directory.  Look at the path for that.  They both have Subdirs checked.  If you were to switch those around (meaning TestStand components directory before Public components directory) then TestStand would grab the default files and not the ones you modified.
So you should put modelsupport2 in Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\NI\TestStand 4.1\Components\Models\TestStandModels\modelsupport2.*
reportgen*.seq should go in the same folder.
If those folders don't exist then create them.  You can probably get away without creating them and just placing it all in the base dir (Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\NI\TestStand 4.1) but I recommend structuring it the same so you don't get confused and it has the same look and feel.
    Hope this helps!
