Photo booth wont open

there is a ? in photo booth and it will not open. Does anyone know the problem?

Your Dock forget where PhotoBooth is.
Drag the ? icon off the Dock so it goes poof.
Then open your Applications folder, find PhotoBooth and drag it's icon back to it's location on the Dock and it will create another "short cut" on the Dock.
The original will return to the Applications folder.
If you drop the PhotoBooth icon onto the Desktop by accident, place it back into the Applications folder before trying the Dock again.
You want the PhotoBooth program to stay in the Applciations folder, not on the Desktop.

  • IMAC G5(ISight) Photo Booth wont open!

Isight is currently being used by another application"...Oh no it isn't!!! There is nothing else running?
I seem to get this error when opening photobooth and thus can't use it. This happened after fixing permissions and installing adium. I'm sure i'm not the only person to get this problem. Help!!! i love my shiny new g5....P.S For everyone complaning about the noise on these machines, mine is quiet as a mouse.

If you have ALL the suggestions already offered without result, I have three other ideas.
First idea, consider the suggestion from the Troubleshooting section of your iMac's User's Guide (Pages 55-58) such as using the Apple Hardware Test CD, reinstalling software, restoring your iMac's OS, etc. (0) If you decide to reinstall or restore software applications, I suggest you do maintenance before and after the restore as explained in How I Update My Mac OS X.
    (1) If you decide to reinstall your entire OS, consider the suggestions in Reinstalling Mac OS X (Rarely Necessary).
    (2) If you have not already done so, you might even consider an erase and clean install for a known good starting point as explained in Macintosh System Stability.
Second idea, since your problem may be peculiar to an iMac G5 (iSight) iSight or to the Photo Booth app that is bundled with it, try the iMac Discussions area or the "Chat with a support agent" option avialable there.
Third idea, talk with your retailer or return your iMac and him ask to make your new Mac work for you or exchange it for one that does.

  • "Photo Booth cannot open" due to graphics card, but nothing has changed!

I've been using Photo Booth on my computer, and it's worked for over a year. Yesterday, when I tried to open the program, I received an error message:
    "Photo Booth cannot open
The graphics card installed in this computer does not support Photo Booth."
Which is strange, because nothing on my computer changed since I last used Photo Booth - in fact, nothing has changed whatsoever! What could be the problem? It's a Mac OSX 10.5.6 with 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.

Try using PhotoBooth in another user account--create a new one if necessary. Does it open?
Also repair disk permissions using your Install Disc 1 DVD. To do this:
    1) Insert the DVD and restart your computer while holding down the C key.
    2) Once the Installer has loaded, hit the enter/return key to move past the Language window.
    3) Move your mouse to the top of the screen--some menus should be there. Click Utilities and choose *Disk Utility*.
    4) In the left-hand column, click your hard drive's icon. (xx.x GB Fujitsu, for example) If you have Windows installed through Boot Camp, choose the "Macintosh HD" icon.
    5) Click the *Repair Permissions* button. This may take more than a few minutes to complete--be patient.
    6) If anything CAN'T be repaired, make a note of it and post it here. When the repair finishes, restart the computer.

  • Photo Booth not opening

I attempted to open Photo Booth tonight and get the following error message: "Photo Booth cannot open becase no camera is attached or the camera is in use by another application. Make sure you digital video camera is properly attached and turned on. If you are using the camera with another application, close that application before trying to open Photo Booth again."
Has anyone else received this error message? I have a built-in camera on my iMac and no other applications are using the camera. Thanks

Tyler- thanks for the advice (more than I am getting from the Apple folk here- they just send me replacements! Really getting tiring- I have three MacBook Pros sitting here and NONE of them work! And NO- I am still running 10.4.6 as there is no POINT in upgrading till one of them works!) but in MY case it didn't work.
I had this problem from the outset- pulled MBPro out of box, started up, configured and transferred hard drive over and voilas- an error message when trying to launch Photo Booth to test the camera and restarting to manage to launch it, only to see me (looking harrassed) for two seconds before it fades to black once more.
Nothing is helping- not removing the battery, not using your clever idea (honestly- thanks. At least I can rule out one more bit of advice!) or "ougt"
    Sigh...
As for power surges... Hmmm... How can that be? There haven't BEEN any YET- both the replacement and the replacement of the replacement were less than an hour old! The original DID have a working camera with 10.4.7 (replaced it within a week and just as they brought out the 4.8 update so none are running it).
Sadly I fear that that is just one of those glib pseudo "tech" bamboozlers you were fed!
Glad you are sorted though- makes me hopeful that there IS a solution out there!

  • MacBook Pro freezes when Photo Booth is opened.

I have a MacBook Pro, purchased June 2008, and have always had a problem with Photo Booth. When I open the program it captures an initial image, but then freezes for 15 seconds up to a few minutes. When it finally unfreezes, every program runs slows while Photo Booth is open and even a few minutes after it's been closed. I have no other problems with my iSight while using Skype, iChat or any web-based video applications. I've tried closing all other programs before using Photo Booth, but that has no effect on the freezing. It freezes even after a restart. I've checked the activity monitor and when the program is opened and freezing the CPU usage is anywhere between 75 and 99%, then it hovers around 25%. Any ideas on what I could do to stop this annoying freezing would be greatly appreciated.

Problems like those you mention are not unusual for new Mac users, but they are not widespread defects, either. They are usually easily corrected. Here is a good way to start.

  • Photo Booth Automatically Opens

I just purchased a new Mac Book and installed Leopard. Whenever I turn on my computer, photo booth automatically opens. How can I get this to not happen?

Click and hold on the Photo Booth icon in the Dock, and uncheck Open at Login from the menu which appears. Alternatively, remove it from the list of login items for your account in the Accounts pane of System Preferences.

  • ISight not showing when Photo Booth is open? Help :S?

Hey guys, when I open Photo Booth, my iSight doesn't even respond to it, and doesn't even turn on. There is no green light or anything. It works when I use iChat or any other application that uses the iSight but not photo booth. I have done all the trouble shooting and reseting but still nothing. In the system profiler it shows that my iSight is recognized and that it is there and working, but why not photo booth? It has worked before too.
    Help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot in advance
    D2LMD

    You're welcome, D2LMD
I have tried all of the things you just listed and still no go...
Because your iSight works in every user account you try with every application (except Photo Booth), the problem is definitely in your software. Having reinstalled the application itself, the software problem must lie in some of the system or QuickTime ancillary files that Photo Booth uses.
To remedy this problem, I can offer three choices for your consideration:
    (1) Backup your important files and then reinstall all of your Mac software using the "reinstall" or "restore" disk that came with your Mac. After that is done, repair permissions and then use your Mac's Software Update... to be sure you are using the latest version of your Apple software. Finish with another permission repair after the updates are done, and then test to see if Photo Booth is working.
    (2) Ignore your non-working Photo Booth. Instead, use some other app to capture images:
    • If you do not need Photo Booth's "effects", some alternative apps that can
capture snapshots and movie/video clips are included in this list.
    • Apps that have with "effects" similar to those in Photo Booth include
Funny Photographer, Freak Show, and WebcamTweaker.
    (3) If nothing else works for you, follow Apple's ultimate suggestion from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 and contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

  • Photo Booth Not Opening for iSight

I just got my Macbook. Photobooth will not open, nor will Preview. I haven't tried a few other programs (Comic Life, etc.), but I'm mainly concerned about Photo Booth and Preview. I wanna see my **** pdf's and take pictures with my iSight :c
The camera is not the problem; it works fine in iChat and iMovie. Help :c

    Hi Wiggle-head,
    Ummm, Odd.
Some Apple apps need to have certain Fonts active, mainly Helvetica, or they will not run properly.
I doubt you have installed any Fonts yet and iChat is one that would show this.
I would pop the Install Disk in and navigate to Option Installs and see if Preview and Photo Booth are ones you can do from there.
If so reinstall them from that option.

  • After 10.5.3 update, Photo Booth cannot open

After I update from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3, I cannot open Photo Booth.
Photo Booth says "Photo Boot cannot open. The graphics card installed in this computer does not support Photo Booth."
My MacBook has no other graphics card than built-in one and I could open Photo Booth normally in 10.5.2, of course.
I have this problem only on my MacBook.
I also update my Power Mac G5 from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3, but there is no problem to open Photo Booth.

    Your Photo Booth is working!
The graphics card in my MacBook is as follows (System Profiler says):
    Chipset Model: GMA 950
    Type: Display
    Bus: Built-In
VRAM (Total): 64 MB of shared system memory
    Vendor: Intel (0x8086)
    Device ID: 0x27a2
    Revision ID: 0x0003
This card looks like the same as yours...

  • Photo booth wont load picture

could i fix this by uninstalling and re-installing photo booth?
it 3-2-1-snaps the picture but doesnt add it below
this started when i changed from Tiger to Leopard on Friday

Most likely you're using the Tiger version of Photobooth instead of the Leopard version.
I had the same problem. Go into Applications and find the other version with the different icon.

  • My iPad camera only works at the back. When I change it to front camera it freezes with shutter closed. Also photo booth keeps opening the red curtain and I can't select a feature. I have restored iPad with no success. Help!

I have only had my iPad for a week and can not get the front camera to work....it just freezes and does nothing. The photo booth app also only shows the red curtain over and over. I have restored the iPad, reset it...and still no joy..... Any ideas?

    Ni310-
I think you have a defective iPad.  One thing you can try is to reset (reboot) your iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.  Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.
If that doesn't help, show your iPad to an Apple Store Genius, and you should get a new iPad on the spot.
If there is no Apple Store near you, look for an Apple Authorized Repair Center.  There may be one in your city.  In the US, <United States>.  Outside the US, <http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1434>.

  • I have a dozen or so PC Power  photos that wont open.  How can i open them?

I opereate an iMac desk toop computer.  OSX 10.9.3.  I have a dozen or so photos on my desktop, not in iPhoto dated 2000.  I'm told i can't open these photos because my system no longer uses Power PC software.  Is there any way I can open these?

Photos are not PowerPC, there is no such thing, It's possible that you have them set to open with a PowerPC program on your Mac which may or may not exist.
You said these pictures are on the desktop so select one and press control-i, an information panel will open, what does it say for Kind:

I get a 'adobe application manager has stopped working' message when trying to open photo editor in elements 11.

  • Photo Booth wont work, it just continuously loads but doesn't let me take photos

It was working fine. I'm not sure if there's been a recent update or something to change things.
When I load it from my dock/applications it begins to load but continuously shows the spinning loading icon on the black screen. Its as if its not connecting to the webcam to show the image.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

If the photos were created on your iPhone you can directly delete them. If the photos were synced from your computer and you can't delete them on the phone. You have to sync with iTunes on computer. You add a new EMPTY folder and sync the empty folder to your iPhone at the "Photos" category.
[I want to show you the screenshot, but i can not uplaod it.]
Actually photos will occupy most capacity of our phone space. we want to keep the photos always and don't want to delete them. however, i would like to reduce photo size to free up our iPhone capacity
