Photo box anomaly?

I was reworking a book and suddenly the image didn't fill the photo box in the same way it did a few weeks ago ~ Nov 15th 2011.
I experimented a bit and found the following
Given an image that does fill the box, with the box alignment set to "scale to fill" it fills it up until a certain point, afer which increasing the box size vertically causes it to be jammed into the lower left.
Here it's OK
Here I've expanded the box vertically, just a little bit:
Admittedly the image is horizontal and I'm jamming it into a portrait box, but still.
Has anyone else seen this? my solution is to reduce the vertical dimension until it fills appropriately.

Yes, but the PDF viewer that is used on the tablet needs to support it. See this thread for more info: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1072747
The buttonImportIcon method works with PDF Expert on iOS but not Adobe Reader.

  • Making a photo box

I see where I can make a text box in keynote, but how can I make my own photo box to my own dimensions, placing it where I want it instead of using one of the preset photo boxes?
    Thanks!

Right - you can not add text to photos with iPhoto - you must use an external editor

  • Changing the size of the bevel photo box in Aperture 3

Does anyone know how I can change the size of the bevel photo box that comes with the Formal-Soft cover-medium theme. Aperture 3 is not allowing me to change the size. I would like to make it larger. I can not add a bevel bevel photo box. I have done the change with Aperture 1 before.
    Thanks

See the post at http://photo.rwboyer.com/2010/03/15/aperture-3-book-theme-trick/ for tantalizing hint on how to make this work -- which I'm attempting right now.  (If the link gets removed, do an internet search for "aperture 3 book theme trick" (without the quotes) and you'll get it.  The "original article" referenced is essential reading -- at least the part on how to make a copy of a theme so one can play with it.  Note that Aperture has to be restarted if you create the theme copy while Aperture is running.  I've made the suggested change, but it's not taking effect. I'll experiment more and report back, but I thought others might like to know there is a possible solution.

  • Who creates the Photo Box album in iPhoto iOS 7.1?

I just noticed an album in iPhoto iOS 7.1 that is titled "Photo Box."  How is it created?

It is one of the automatically created albums, see this help page:
    What are albums? http://help.apple.com/iphoto/iphone/2.0/?handbuch#blnkb9b1e2a
Photo Box: If a photo appears in an album (Edited, Favorites, Journals, or custom) and you delete the photo from your device, the photo remains in the album. If you remove the photo’s edits and tags, or delete the photo from the journal, iPhoto moves the photo to the Photo Box album (and removes it from the album it was in). If you edit or tag a photo in the Photo Box album, or add it to a journal, the photo is removed from the Photo Box album (and added to the appropriate album).
Basically, iPhoto keeps photos in this album, if they are needed for products.

  • How do I make a photo box

When insert my photos into theme preset photo boxes my photos don’t fit the proportions of the box and get cropped. Part of the photo cannot be seen. I see how one can make a text box in Keynote, but how can one make a photo box that is different then standard dimensions within the themes? Or is it possible to change the proportions of the ones already created within the themes?
    Thank you!
    Pasquale M.

Never mind. I fiured it out. All I have to do is remove the mask.
    Thanks for looking,

  • Add drop shadow curled page like default photo boxes in books.

When I pick a theme in Books in Aperture, I see the photo boxes have rotation and a shawdowed, buttom edge curled effect to the photo plaeholder boxes. I figured out how to add photo boxes and even size and rotate them, but cannot see how to add the shawdow/curled effects to the placeholder. Nor can I 'edit' existing placeholders to change there size or rotation. Seems it should be easy... but not. Also, how to add a custom page background color other than the very limited selection allowed/offered?
    Thanks!

    LewisO,
if one could adjust the size and rotation of these theme supplied containers. That too, I have not been able to figure out how to do.
which theme are you using? Each theme is behaving differently and some are very restrictive. For example, the "Formal" theme does not allow to rotate the photo boxes or to change the aspect ration.
The "angle" slider in the layout options and part of the size options will be dimmed for hese themes.

  • Aperture photo frame vs aperture photo box

    Hi,
Why I can change an photo box and not a photo frame, is photo frame different in printing from photo box?

Hi Susan. I'm an experienced Photoshop user, but I'm using Aperture 2.0 for more and more of my post-processing of images that do not require masking. My workflow using Aperture for whole-image adjustments is faster and, with 65,000+ photos, the savings in hard drive space vs Photoshop will be huge.
I'm learning Aperture bass ackwards, in the sense that I've been drawn into its image processing abilities before learning how to use it for managing my collection.
Be aware that Aperture really hammers your hardware, especially the video card. Download the trial version to see if it will work well with your computer system.

  • Photo boxes and guides

I am creating my own layouts. (I'm inserting all the photo and text boxes.) I know how to set the photo box aspect and ratio as well as alignment. I know how to use the shift key to resize and maintain the ratios. I also have been using the guides to align photo and text boxes to each other and to the edges of the page. The guides are extremely helpful.
What I don't know how to do is resize a photo box and use the guides at the same time. I can move a photo box and it'll "click" to guides, but when I am resizing the box I can easily go beyond where the guides would be. In other words, I can align two sides of the photo box, but then not the third. I hope this makes sense.

I just created background images in photoshop to use as my grid/guide. A lot easier of a reference tool, just don't forget to delete them before sending it to print!

  • How do you position an image inside a photo box?

I'm trying to create a 20 page 16x8 book and I cannot figure out how, after putting a photo box on the page, and dropping an image into it, how do I move the image around inside of it. For instance if I create a square photo box, how do I position a 3:2 image inside of it?

    Double click it.

  • How do I change the color of a Photo Box?

I'm new to Aperture, but I'm impressed with the customization abilities of the Photo Book compared to iPhoto. I want to be able to do a couple things: change the color of the Photo Box, and possibly change the Photo Box style (one book layout in particular makes the Photo Boxes look like a photo on the page, complete with shadow).
Can anyone help with one, or both issues?

Some quick help would be really appreciated...
Who knows how to change the color of the Photo Box?
Anyone here know how to bring a different style (i.e., the Snapshots style) to a different themed book?

  • Resizing photo box in Aperture 3 - not working!

I recently purchased Aperture 3 from the App Store.  I'm working on a book.  While in the Edit Layout mode, I can see the handles on photo boxes but I can NOT resize the photo box.  The manual and the Aperture video say this should work.  What gives?

See the post at http://photo.rwboyer.com/2010/03/15/aperture-3-book-theme-trick/ for tantalizing hint on how to make this work -- which I'm attempting right now.  (If the link gets removed, do an internet search for "aperture 3 book theme trick" (without the quotes) and you'll get it.  The "original article" referenced is essential reading -- at least the part on how to make a copy of a theme so one can play with it.  Note that Aperture has to be restarted if you create the theme copy while Aperture is running.  I've made the suggested change, but it's not taking effect. • Fitting a photo or image to the photo box size

I cant always set the photo to fit the photo box size in iPhoto when designing a book.
    How do you do this?
    Can someone help me please?

That is the way you do it so if it is not working for you we need more information on what you want to accomplish, what you are doing, what happens and what does not happen
Another way to skin the cat is to be sure your photos are in a 4:3 ratio by cropping them - that is the ratio of the frames - as long as you are placing a 4x 3 ratio photo it will fit the frame

  • Rotating photo box-these must be a better way

I am spending far too much time finding the so called CROSS-HAIRS in order to rotate my photo boxes in a book I am producing, any shortcuts please. PS I have the latest version 1.5.3

I see what you mean now. When editing the book, make sure you press on the buttom at the top that has a square on each corner of the box and a cross inside that box. It's called 'edit layout'.
Then press on the photo you need to rotate and the crosshairs show when the mouse it's over one of the squares on the corners and you move it a bit away from the photo. Hope this makes sense.

  • Resize Photo Box

Someone please... try resizing a photo box, Aperture 2, trial, when laying out a book. I can not get the buggers to resize. Can set aspect ration via popup menus, but can not grab the little handles and resize the entire box. Tried Aperture 1.5 and it works as it should. Is it me?

It works fine with most of the themes.
But I want to adjust the theme Medium Formal. It is great looking but I can not cheange the master pages. Even when I create a custom the I can not get the 3D drop down effect used in Thjeme Formal. I need it in A5-format and I want to change sizes of the frames in Formal.
The other Themes I can handle and change.
I love the book-thing in Aperture 2 but I have not yet receieved my printed books I ordered 2 weeks ago:(
...so the result has not been seen...some people at this forum complain about print quality!
    Pls HELP!

  • Trying to add revolving Photo Box

I would like to create a single box or photo frame on a page where I can have several photo's change every couple of seconds within the box or frame. I really don't want to do animated gifs as the photo quality looks terrible. Any help would be greatly apprecieated. Thanks very much...
