Photo breaks up in Photoshop CC2014
Don't know what is happening. While working on a CR2 file in Photoshop CC 2014 (2.1) and launching it from the Camera Raw plug-in, the picture fills up with tiles of previous pictures I have worked on, or the picture breaks up into a repeated pattern. The cursor goes dead. I get the "blip" "blip" whenever I try to close the photo.
I keep having to quit and re-start Photoshop to get back to the picture. After 5-10 pictures, it does it again. Sometimes it just goes to all black after I mess with the cropping tool and try to rotate the photo.
Is it RAM problems?
Have an iMac (27 in. late 2012) 16 GB of RAM. 512 MB of VRAM. Tons of room in the 1 TB HD. Have the Photographer's Package of the Creative Cloud. All up to date.
Just installed Yosemite about a week ago. Not having any problems with anything else. Did get OnOne software's Perfect Photo Suite 9. Hope it's not that causing the glitch.
I am attaching a screen shot of the workspace. Maybe somebody is having this same problem?

Chris Cox, it stopped doing it with the GPU turned off.
So now, Adobe just has to get with it. Get those drivers fixed. I got work to do!

When i use the "Edit in Photoshop CC 2014" option in Lightroom 5.5, Photoshop CC2014 will open, but the photo I want to edit in Photoshop, doesn't load up. To edit a photo in CC14 I have had to set up an Export option that saves the photo as a tiff and then opens in CC2014. Is there a setting I have missed to enable the transfer using "Edit in..."

AndrewI started having this problem after I uninstalled Photoshop CC. I even tried not removing its preferences while uninstalling, but I still ended up with the same problem. The only solution I can find is to reinstall Photoshop CC. Only then will Photoshop CC 2014 open a photo from Lightroom 5.5. I also notice that with DNGs, I no longer am presented with an option to "edit original," "edit with Lightroom changes," etc. It just opens the DNG with LR changes. When opening a PSD, however, I do see this prompt. When installing the upgrades, Adobe said we could uninstall Photoshop CC and continue using Photoshop CC 2014 once we were comfortable with Photoshop CC 2014. Apparently that's not the case when using Lightroom's "edit in" feature. I'm really disappointed that I have to keep unused applications installed just to make another application work semi-properly. :-(

Adobe Photoshop CC2014 internet connection very slow
Hi,
I'm developing an Adobe Photoshop HTML5 (website) extension. This is working fine in Photoshop CC, but is very slow in CC2014.
Today I've installed an update for Photoshop CC2014 and I was presented with an 'introduction' screen, loaded from the web.
This had the same slowness, indicating my extension is not at fault.
The regular functionality of Photoshop has a normal speed, and I'm working on a recent computer with Win 7 64bit.
I've recorded a video showing how slow it really is (and proof that my internet connection has sufficient speed)

In lightroom I want to sent the photo over to photoshop to edit. I select “edit in photoshop cc2014 and then get 3 option 1: edit a copy with LR adjustments 2: edit copy 3: edit original.number 1 workers sed over file but with no layers. 2 & 3 I get a message “some of the application components are missing from the application directory Please reinstall the application. how to send a raw photo from lightroom to photoshop as a smart "object" not a flat "image" so it does not flatten the image but so I still get all the adjustments i have made in lightroom to show up in photoshop?
Select the image in Lightroom, choose 'Edit in' from Photo menu then choose 'Open as Smart Object in Photoshop'. The file will transfer to Photohop (Ps) complete with Lr applied edits which can be refined in Camera Raw by double clicking on icon in the Ps Layers panel (see screen shot).

How can I edit photos in iPhoto in Photoshop Elements? I select PE in iPhoto preferences but they stay in iPhoto for editing.
Here's something you can try with a copy of your current library.
1 - go to iPhoto's Events preference pane and set the auto split option to 1 day per even.
2 - go the the Events mode, select all Events.
3 - go to the Events menu and and select Autosplit Selected Events.
which will give you an event for each day.
4 - again select all events (although it might be better do to fewer at a time) and export them to your desired destination via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with the following settings:
The workflow above will produce a folder for each days photos with the date as the folder's title. -
My photoshop CC2014 on my Mac OSX Yosemite crashes all the time with random tasks. Now almost nothing works. Sometimes it stops working after doing random tasks like starting photoshop and i have to do a hard reset by putting the power off of my Mac pro retina (2014). After logging in again i got the message from Photoshop that graphics problem occurred with a Problem report I will post here. I also cannot merge to HDR from lightroom to photoshop & also in Photoshop in the file menu > automate merge to HDR pro. It 8 of 10 times it stops working and I won't select one of the brackets. I have to force quit photoshop. I think these instability problems started after updating to Yosemite but become worser everyday. I also disabled the graphics driver, put it on basic and enabled/disabled open gl, sometimes photoshop disables it automaticly. My osx is up to date so I don't have to update my graphic driver because these updates or done within the OSX update pane. I cannot add the Problem report file in this topic, How can I do this???
Have you installed all the Photoshop updates and MacOS 10.10 updates?
Disabling GPU usage in Photoshop should help with the video driver bugs in MacOS 10.10, until Apple can solve all the driver issues (yes, Apple knows about them and is working on solutions).
What does the long, detailed crash log say?
Also, anything that freezes, shuts down, or reboots the machine is not an application error - but caused by an OS bug, a low level driver bug, or faulty hardware. Applications simply cannot cause those symptoms on modern OSes. -

2. The Icons on your dock are Aliases not real apps
They point to where the apps really are which is:
For Pages 5.2.2 in your Applications folder
For Pages '09 in your Applications/iWork folder
3. You are alternately opening documents randomly with either version of Pages
Both Pages have the same file extension .pages and there is no certainty as to which version opens them when you double click on a file.
right click on the file and choose which version you want to open it
4. Pages '09 can not open Pages 5 files
Pages 5 can not open Pages '08 files, and will convert and change Pages '09 and Word files.
It will also auto save opened files into its own format.
You can export these back to Pages '09 if you need to:
Menu > File > Export > Pages '09

Pages 5.2.2 has a few improvements but has had over 110 features removed and is buggy.
Sooner or later you will not be able to open a file or have it damaged in some way and it has a complex obscure file format largely incompatible with everything else, so you will not be able to rescue the contents of your file. If Pages or some third party server/eMail don't trash your file, eventually Apple will do it for you as it did when it released Pages 5 last September. I recommend using Pages '09 for the time being whilst you look for viable alternatives, some are here already and some are on the way.

Photoshop cc2014 thumbnails in finder window
Hi,
I've just got off a chat with Adobe about the problem of displaying tiff thumbnails generated by Adobe Photoshop CC2014. Previous versions of Photoshop gave lovely thumbnails with a white border, and after editing they went slightly greyed out and the border disappeared, so you you could see which files you had worked on and saved.
Now the thumbnails stay the same, and sometimes don't display at all.
Playing with the size of the thumbnails discovered that at 64 x 64 pixels you can see the thumnails, but go to any size bigger then this all you get is the Generic Tiff tag. Needless to say this is not suitable.
Adobe said that his was not their problem, but in the next breath said that they are "working with Apple closely to fix it"
I've read about some code that Apple asked Adobe to leave out which may be the cause of this. Does anyone know if a fix is in the pipeline?

It will depend on the image. If it was one that was saved as a psd file and has layers (window>layers) {Look in the layers panel and see if you see a layer with a thumbnail that looks like a large T} In this instance, you can double click on that thumbnail to highlight the text then type in its replacement.
If the image is a jpg which does not support layers, transparency or live text, then that would mean that you need to use the selection tools to select that text and fill it with the same color as the background. You can then use the text tool to type in the text you want.
Remember to save a copy as a psd file so you can edit the text at a later date. -

If you are using Photoshop from within iPhoto the following may help with the workflow. However, we do need to know the answers to the questions posed by Terence and Larry to be able to help you.
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
With Photoshop Elements the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always. In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:

Note 1: to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.
Note 2: editing a RAW file with either PSE or PS creates a new file which must be saved outside of iPhoto, i.e. the Desktop, and imported as a new photo into the iPhoto Library. -
Convert photos using the Tools Photoshop Imagine Processor (Photoshop CS 5)
All of a sudden, I am having issues when I attempt to convert photos using the Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor option in Adobe Bridge. I used this methodology in the past and the conversion to JPG or TIFFs would fly with no interruption. Now I am getting now getting getting dialog boxes with "New Snapshot" in the title, I click OK, then get a message, "The command "Feather" is not currently available," I click "continue, and gert a "New Layer" dialog box, I click OK, and get a "Fill" dialog box, I click OK and the JPG or Tiff is then generated. This series then starts over on the next photo to generate. I am using Photoshop CS5 on a MAC. I did uninstall and re-install Photoshop l, but I am getting the same series on messages. Any suggestions? Thanks
It sounds like you have an action running when processing the photos
Look at the bottom of the image processor dialog and and see if Run Action is checked
