  • Photos converted to pdf files by Adobe 9.0??

    I am a rookie user.
I recently downloaded Adobe 9.0 per a prompt on my PC.
I went in today to look at some photos that I have had on this PC for about a year - save in standard 'folder-file-jpeg' format.
Somehow, and I did not do this since I would not know how - 4 of my vacation photo folder had been converted to Adobe pdf files. That's about 1000 photos.
This is not what I want - and not the format I use.
How can I get them back to jpegs and stop this from happening again.
    Thanks,
    Ken

    Berndt and David,
Thanks for trying to help me.
    I have checked the following:
    1. Photos in question now have a .pdf file extension.
2.I recently downloaded Acrobat.com, Adobe Air, Adobe reader 9.0 and Adobe Flash Player Active X.
    3. I went to Control Panel, Folder Option and had 3 tabs to choose from: 1. General 2. View 3. Search.
I reviewed each option under the 3 tabs and I did not find an option to change or do anything with file extensions such as .jpeg, etc.
    4. My OS is Vista Home.
Please advise next steps or some idea on what I can do, try, chcek on for you, etc.
    Many thanks! I am grateful.

  • 72dpi photo converted to 300dpi.  What are the disadvantages of doing this?

    Hi,
Somehow I misplaced my original 300dpi Tiff photo, but was able to locate the same photo on my MAC which I had converted to a 72dpi JPEG photo. I need the photo to be of a higher resolution and increased the dpi to 300 as well as saved it as a TIFF instead for printing purposes. Is this recommended? I recall reading somewhere that it is never a good idea to increase the dpi once it has been decreased?
    Thanks!

There is a good standard answer for that question, "That depends." Once an image has been saved as a JPEG image, some of the original image will have been lost. That is something that is simply inherent with JPEG images. And each time that image is saved again as a JPEG, more of the image will be lost. This loss can be minimized by using higher quality settings in Photoshop Elements. In reality, if high quality is specified it will typically take several saves before image loss begins to be visible.
Once you have opened the JPEG in Photoshop Elements, you will have the highest quality that you will ever be able to get from that file. And you will not be editing the JPEG, but rather the pixels that were stored in the JPEG file. If you resize to 300 PPI without resampling you will probably not do any further damage to the image, but the dimensions will be smaller because those pixels have been squeezed closer together. But if you have to resample in order to make the image larger, then Photoshop Elements will have to create additional pixels, and this could produce undesirable results.
But it isn't going to hurt anything to try. Open the JPEG in Photoshop Elements and see what you can do. Whatever the result, make sure to save it to a new filename. You will still have your original JPEG image to go back to if necessary.

  • Why don't my photos convert properly?

    Hello all!
I have never had much experience with Adobe Acrobat and I mostly use it to print to and preserve the content without the ability to alter if sent out.  I am trying to print to PDF from Crystal Reports and the photo that I have in the report is white, when converted, it appears black in the PDF.  How do I change this?  The photo is .PNG and I have inserted it as a single object and embedded in another object and both ways the PDF makes it black.  Please help! :-)
    Thank you!

  • IPhoto Books Snow Lion: Photos converted with errors

On my new MacBook Air Lion was preinstalled, iPhoto11 is running. The data was transferred from my old MacBook (SnowLeopard, iPhoto11) through the Apple-Team (One-to-One).
Two problems occur - the more puzzling first: Pictures are transformed for Books to order with peculiar mistakes. These cannot be due to missing original data - as photos spread over two pages will be okay on the left side, but with flaws on the right side (see picture taken when looking at Preview of finished book).
If I create PDFs from books instead of Previews, things get worse: 99% of all pictures are corrupted.
    Help possible?
The second problem are pictures lost in their edited version: When double-clicking the thumbnail to edit the picture, a warning sign appears: Image not found.
The same is true if I want to watch Slideshows. If i click on "show original in finder" on the thumbnail, then the original is found there, and intact. But the edited version is gone.
How do I show iPhoto the way back to the originals? Can the edited photos be found again?

In regards to the first problem see this topic: Problem on creating Book: Apple Support Communities
The second problem:  you get that when iPhoto loses or breaks the file path to the original file. How you did the transfer will affect how to go about fixing it.

  • Photos convert to thumbnail size when printing

I am trying to print on an EPSON R300. When printing from iPhoto I select the size/layout that I want, but when I go to preview and/or print it doesn't not fill the page. Everything is getting downsized to "thumbnail" size. I've tried everything I can think of, including reinstalling the printing drivers, nothing is working. HELP!!!!

    2Xclone:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Just to be sure we're on the same page here's the workflow I use to get a borderless 4x6:
Steps for printing 4 x 6 prints from iPhoto:
    <li crop the photo to 4 x 6 beforehand in iPhoto's edit window.</li>
in Page Setup select your printer, proper page orientation and paper size, i.e. 4x6 or 4x6 borderless
click once on the picture you want to print to make sure it's selected.
now click on the Print button in iPhoto.
in the iPhoto print window, select your printer again, select Style = "Standard Prints", Size= 4x6 and click on One photo per page.
    click on the Print button.
Is that how you're going about it?
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application, iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Can aperture 3 convert a gray scale photo into a line drawing?

can aperture 3 convert a gray scale photo into a line drawing?

I have a B.F.A. degree in painting which educated me in the "history of art" with appreciation of the old masters. I agree with your statement that, "anyone mistaking photos converted to "line drawings, watercolors,or paintings" is simply ignorant" and that, "line art is to drawing what clip art is to painting."
I appreciate your passion and love for keeping "visual creativity" true to its inherant nature. Expressing your views however, in regard to my question in this thread, is irrelevant to the question asked. I am not ignorant.  My question has nothing to do with the philosophy of art. You have no idea what project I have in mind for asking my original question. I suggest that perhaps you have chosen the wrong forum to express your views.  Sticking to the question asked, as the other participants have, has been most helpful to me and I appreciate their response.
    Thanks for your attention.

  • I blog and cannot convert my ipad photos to a jpeg format on my ipad so that I can publish them.  is there a way to do this ?

I have a travel blog and want to take my ipad when I am away but cannot add my photos (I have the photo converter kit) to my blog. Can someone tell me how to do this?  I want to convert my photos in my ipad to a jpeg format so I can add them to my blog when I am on the go!

The iPad and most digital cameras (besides pro and pro-sumer versions) take pictures in jpeg format. Are you using some specialty app or a pro camera and RAW?
What bloging platform are you using? If Wordpress, I suggest using the Wordpress app since it allows for uploading photos.
What version of iOS are you using? It's possible that you are using the Web admin interface for your blog and since the iPad doesn't have a file system per se, on older versions of iOS Safari does not allow for uploading photos that way. iOS 6 allows you to take a phot or select from the Photo library.

  • Converting old 35mm photos to digital

I am looking to purchase a digital photo converter to convert my old 35mm photos onto my Mac. Looking for advice on a good converter or way to go about this task.

I don't know of any converter that is Mac friendly. I can inderstand the appeal of a simple to operate dedicated appliance. Scanning old shoes boxes full of pictures is tedious at best. I've managed to avoid gettng started on this for years with little guilt.
That said, I don't see any real advantage with the converter. Online reviews are not very good anyway. This unit may already be discontinued.
The new line of both Epson and HP photo scanners have come a long way in making archiving a lot easier. The scanning is fast, the Mac software is very good for correctng the scanned image, and I think both companies have an option to scan to iPhoto.
I use an HP scanner which has that option but don't use it. I prefer to scan directly to desktop folders I create. I can organize easier that way, check the scans in Preview and see which ones I want to send to Photoshop first before importing folders into iPhoto.

  • How can I start anew with Photos and clear the (minimal) stuff it has uploaded

I've about had it up to here with this new Photos scheme. I reorganised my Aperture libraries on both my iMac and MBA in preparation for this, delayed turning Photos on for a couple of days until I thought everything was ready based upon the limited advice that was out there, and then got stuck in an endless loop of "uploading" and "preparing" every time I opened Photos. There are 19,975 images in my Aperture library on the iMac. I was stuck at Uploading at anywhere between that number and 19,000 with no progress after hours of waiting. I tried all the tricks mentioned here including re booting, restarting the app, repairing/rebuilding the database, killing the "cloudd" process, etc.today Today when I restarted Photos, it now said I had 23,775 images to upload- 4000
more than I have-and of course it got stuck there, like it has for the last week.
I copied the previous Aperture library (pre Photos migration)back to my iMac and opened it in Aperture. Thankfully, all the photos I had taken on my iPhone this week during this Photos clusterphuck transition were in the Aperture Stream so I didn't lose any of those. I'm willing to give this whole thing one more shot. So  i need some advice. How can I start anew with Photos and clear the (minimal) stuff it has uploaded (about 6000 of 19,000 images in the last 7 days) ? If I simply delete the Photos.photolibrary file will that do the trick and lt me start a new fresh library using?

It is hard to say from your post, why the migration did not succeed in your case.
by "stuck on upload" do you mean, you opened the Aperture library in Photos, and Photos converted it to a Photo Library, and then the upload to iCloud Photo Library did hang?  Or did already the upgrade to the Photo Library fail?
If you want the Aperture library to upload to iCloud Photo Library, it needs to be on a disk formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled) and the original image files must not be referenced. Referenced originals will not upload.
Also, the upload may hang, if you do not have enough free iCloud storage, orr if one of the videos or photos in your library is in an unsupported format or corrupted.
To start over, try to repair and rebuild the Aperture library before opening it in Photos. Try all Aperture Library First Aid options - starting with repairing the permissions.  (Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library: Aperture 3 User Manual)
If I simply delete the Photos.photolibrary file will that do the trick and lt me start a new fresh library using?
You will have to delete the photos that are already in icloud too; otherwise you are risking duplicates.
Can you launch Photos at all?  If yes, delete all photos in Photos and empty the Recently Deleted album. Wait for the deletion to sync to iCloud. Then delete the Photos.photolibrary.

  • Converting Colors

I am a beginner in the artwork world.
I have taken a photo, converted it to grayscale, then did a live trace. I then expanded the output and deleted alot of background elements and 1.5 hours later, I saved my file.  My intention is to create a 1 color separation from this file.  My problem is that now all of my colors are CMYK. This gives me 4 screens... Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. Is there any quick way to change this to a Pantone Black with different opacities??
         Please help...

This sounds like a question about Photoshop, not BrowserLab. You should try reposting your question in the appropriate forum here: http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop

  • Using Nokia Photos... E71... Not Synchronising SMS...

    Good Evening All!
I've recently upgraded my N95 to an E71, and made the change from LifeBlog to Nokia Photos - as the E71 doesn't support LifeBlog...
After several attempts of letting Nokia Photos convert the LifeBlog database (of over 64,000 itmes), I gave up and decided to start it from scratch.
I've got Nokia Photos synching photos from my E71, but not SMSs, MMSs or Sound Clips - which is the main reason I'm using it...
If anyone can suggest where I may be going wrong, I'd be extremely grateful...
    Other information:
It's not a connection issue, as the phone is connected and Nokia Photos recognises it.
I've got the latest version of Nokia Photos, and tried reinstalling it.
The firmware version on the E71 is: 100.07.76
There is no profile set in the Sync folder on the phone as there as for LifeBlog on the N95, not sure whether that makes any difference.
    Nokia History: 3110, 5110, 7110, 7110, 3510i, 6210, 6310i, 5210, 6100, 6610, 7250, 7250i, 6650, 6230, 6230i, 6260, N70, N70, 5300, N95, N95, E71, E72
Android History: HTC Desire, SE Xperia Arc, HTC Sensation, Sensation XE, One X+, Google Nexus 5

Nokia Photos can handle only the videos and images. All other stuff is handled by PC Suite for backup and viewing purposes - except the sound clips which can be synced by Nokia Music. Unfortunately, there is no Nokia solution for all-in-one for SMS, clips and images.
    Ericsson T10i -> Nokia 7110 -> Siemens C45, C55, M55, M65 -> Nokia 6131, N73, N82 -> HTC Wildfire, Desire HD -> Nokia Lumia 800 -> HTC Desire X -> Lumia 820 -> Sony Xperia SP -> Lumia 925 + Sennheiser CX 500

  • Converting raw images into .jpgs.

I took some pictures with my Canon 5D, using the camera's raw format. They turned out to be about 14MB. However, when I converted them to .jpgs, using Photoshop CC, they were only about 4MB. I needed to have .jpgs about 10 MB. How do I do that? I made them the highest quality, etc. I still could only get about 4MB in size. Do I have to lose all that data just by converting them to .jpg? Thank you for any help!

file size in MB is a very poor criterion for judging image quality because reduction in file size is very dependent upon the original image content.
Compare a complex multicolored photo converted to .jpg with an image (same original size) filled with pure white or gray or black; then compare the .jpg sizes.
As indicated above, use .tif or other uncompressed (lossless) file format to retain image quality....use .png if image needs to keep transparency.
Consider using camera settings to produce both raw and .jpg images from same shot (too late for images already shot) and compare/use whichever suits your needs best.
There are many (many free) progs to convert various raw formats to .jpg; some better than others, all results will be at least slightly different.

  • Why can't I copy photos from my new Sony camera to my iphone4?

Why can't I copy photos from my new Sony point and shoot to my iphone4? It works with photos from my old camera, just not with the new one. When I sync photos to my phone, they come out black. Help!

It's possible they aren't in the right format. See this list to verify you have the correct format. I know some Sony cameras use the ARW interface (known as RAW).
You may want to use a photo converter like photoshop, etc. to get photos into .jpeg or other file formats.
