Photo cutouts on Apple TV

I noticed I have this one image that scrolls up on my Apple TV when it's in Screensaver mode (Photos mode, not Slideshow) that is CUT OUT. It's of one of my parrots flying, and a long time ago I traced him and saved the channel, and Apple TV recognizes that. It looks very cool because he floats up among the other photos but is cut out to just around him flying with no background.
I have studied the Photoshop file (tif, RGB, 8 bit, flat with just that one extra channel, about 470k) and I have tried to recreate this effect with other photos, but they won't work. They always come up with white backgrounds, even if I give them a black background and flatten them. I can't figure out how to make the background transparent. Anyone figure this out?

I know there's a "preserve transparency" option when saving gifs, which I tried (didn't work), but I don't see that option when saving a tiff or anywhere else with the file open. And this image that does work in AppleTV with transparency IS a tiff. The one difference I do notice when I have both files open is at the top of the file that works there's a pound sign (RGB/8#) and the other file that isn't working has (RGB/8*). I just played around and that seems to relate to the embedded color profile, so I removed it. Still not working.
The file that IS working also is flat and has the original background, so that's not causing the problem. This isn't a critical thing for work or anything but I'm just curious to figure it out now, and figure a few others might want to play around with this and having cutouts float by in the screen saver. I've been playing with Photoshop since version 2.0 and can't figure out what's different between these two files. There's no paths in the file that works, either.

  • I figured out how to put photos onto the Apple TV Screen-Saver

I was having trouble using photos with the Apple TV screen saver.
I got as far as putting them into the photo stream, but some photos were crooked, with no way of editing them.
I called Apple, they didn't know what to do.
I am submitting this after calling Tech Support at Apple, wanting to give them the information...don't know if they really took it to heart.  I figured this out myself with the help of my son.
I want to share it with others.
    So, let me begin:
I texted my son, he had set it up once for me, but I deleted the file.
So he told me to edit the photos on my iPhone, in my photostream.  Well there wasn't any to edit.  The file was not there.
So going through my PC, I clicked on "My Computer"
    I clicked onto "iCloud Photos"
I get what looks like the above photo.  Click on "New photo stream"
You will then get this screen.  In the "to" field, send it to yourself.  And then name your file, click "next".
It will then give you this screen:
When all the photos load, click done.
THEN, go to your Apple TV.
    Settings:
    Click on "Screen Saver"
    Click on "Photos"
    Click on "iCloud Photos"
Click on the file you named on your PC.
Now you will find, like me on "previewing" that some pictures were not straight.
Go to your iPhone, click on your "Camera Roll"
    Click on "Photo Stream"
Then you will see your file that you created for your screen saver.
Click onto your file, from there you can click on the crooked photo and click "Edit", it asks to save it to "Camera Roll".  Click there.
What I did then was delete the crooked picture and at the bottom of this file within your "Photo Stream", go to the bottom of the photos, it will have a tile with a plus sign in it.  Click on that to add from your "Camera Roll" the corrected picture.
Do this for every crooked photo.
    ALL DONE!
When done, go to your "Camera Roll" and delete these photos.

This issue is resolved, through the generous advice of folks on this page.
See my reply to Apple (2nd gen.) photo shuffle.  The Fix that I posted works for Apple 3 Gen, which was just purchased Dec. 27,2013.
    Thanks to all

  • How can you restore photo stream photos back to Apple TV after accidentally deleting from your iPad

After accidentally deleting photo stream  photos on my iPad, this deleted photo stream photos on my Apple TV.  How can I restore these photos back to my Apple TV and also to  my iPad?  Suggestions welcomed

If you have a backup of your iPad prior to the date of deleting your photos, you can find them. Otherwise, you might be able to find them.
If you do have this backup, then you'll have to restore your iPad to that point.
If you had a Mac with iPhoto, then when you connected your iPad, iPhoto would store the photos separately from Photostream.
I despise Photostream. It's turned off everywhere on my system. It is one of the most useless pieces of junk that Apple has foisted on my Mac and iOS. But hey, that's just my opinion.

  • How to get photos off my Apple TV

There are family vacation photos on our Apple TV that we can't seem to locate anywhere else. How do I get them off my Apple TV to save them on my computer or to a flash drive??

There are no photos stored on the ATV, it is merely streaming them from a computer (via HomeSharing) or the PhotoStream on iCloud.

  • Photo stream on Apple TV

Trying to view Photo Stream on Apple TV. It says there are no photos in this album. But I have photos on my iPhone and iMac in photo stream. Running Apple tv. Version 5.2

For me, whenever I setup Photo Stream it only loads the most recent photos and then thereafter.
Seems odd that AppleTV only captures the most current and photos as I've taken them or saved in Camera Roll most recently.

  • Display Photo's on apple tv

I used to use Aperture but now I use Adobe Lightroom to store and edit my photo's. Is there a way to view the photo folders on apple TV or should I still use Aperture with the files referenced, instead of being in the consolidated aperture library, just so I can view on the tv and sync my devices easily?
    I hope this makes sence.
    thanks DL

  • Photo Stream for Apple TV- HELP

I've updated absolutley everything and I can't sign in to photo stream on apple tv.
It asks for account name and password. Im guessing thats my sign in details for icloud.com ??? So I tried that and it just keeps saying username or password incorrect???
However I can see my photos in iphoto in my photo stream all good. I'm set up on my mac on icloud settings as well (The same account as icloud.com) SO EVERYTHING SHOULD WORK??????

Thank you.  I had a hunch that might be the case.  Recent letter to McWorld just superficially said  he created a folder with photos and added music.  No details.

  • Photo stream via apple tv

can anyone help?  I want to look at selected photos through my Apple TV and create a slide show.  I have a step by step manual on how do do this.  I followed the steps after deciding to set this up via the computer app and home sharing method.  Itunes is up to date, and open and on same network as my Apple tv but for some reason my library will not load.
iI then decided to switch my photo stream on, on my iPhone 5 and see if I could stream the photos i want, this has not worked either I get a message that there is no activity and a 0 shows next to my photo stream on the iCloud app on my Apple tv.
I am extremely fed up now as I have wasted so much time trying to sort this out.  Is my apple TV box broken or is it just a load of rubbish and does not do as Apple advertise it to do.
HAs has anyone else experienced the same problem?

Have you deleted these photos from your camera roll or from the photo stream album. You need to delete them from the photo stream album for them to disappear from the Apple TV. However if you have opted to use the new iCloud photos on your mobile device it's all a bit complicated during the transition period (indeed some go so far as to describe it as a mess )
iCloud photos and photo stream are different things. If you are using iCloud photos, new photos will be added to iCloud photos which behind the scenes will also be added to photo stream, however when you delete photos from iCloud photos they aren't automatically deleted from photo stream. But you can do this from your Apple TV.

  • When using iPhoto to buy photo books, is Apple going to take ownership of my photographic material?

    Hi,
I like iPhoto for its features and ease of use; however, I'm unclear on its privacy policy.
When using iPhoto to buy photo books, is Apple going to take ownership of my photographic material?
Can Apple use my pictures to advertise Apple products or services?
I've asked these questions twice to the apple privacy postmaster, but they only reply with a boiler plate of links to get further support or they simply ignore my email. Should I assume the worse?
I like iPhoto, but I'm not going to use it if I don't know that my privacy is satisfactorily safeguarded.
    Thank you for any insight
