Photo date in "Album" view

Can I view a photo's date while in Album view?  I would then like to be able to change the date in that view (I don't think this is possible).
I have a huge number of undated pictures--random pictures that are part of larger events.  If I could see the date of a picture that is

I don't consider this a feature request. In the default Photos library, the key photo in Album view fills the whole square. But for a library that was created from an Aperture library, the key photo does not fill the whole square.
Is this a bug, or is there something I can do to make the key photo larger?

  • Can't delete photos in smart album view

Assuming we all know how smart albums work, let's jump to why I can't delete a photo from a smart album. In all other views, it seems, I can delete images. When I'm scanning through 500 pictures tagged with Christmas in my Christmas Smart Album and come across one I want to delete, I can't do so. What's worse, going back to Photos view and trying to find that picture to delete it is almost impossible when you're looking through a library of 6,000 images.
Am I missing something? Do I really have to find a work around for this? Why has Apple left out DELETE from Smart Albums?

To delete a photo that's in a smart album you need to use the CommandOptionDelete key combination to move it to the trash. If you just want to remove the photo from the album you will need to change on that photo the feature that the smart album is set to look for.

  • Key photo image in Album View too small

I imported a small Aperture Library into Photos to test things out. One thing I notice is that in Album View, the key photo for a folder is very small.
    Here is an example:
I have tried making another photo the Key Photo, and switching back. They are always small. Any ideas on how to fix this?

  • Album release dates in "Album" view

Is there something wrong with the way I'm tagging my music in iTunes, or do you notice this too?
In the iPod app, when you view all your music by Albums, some albums list the release date (for example, April 10, 2008), while other albums only list the release year (2008).
I don't see any way to change or edit this in iTunes... Go to your Albums on your iPad and see if you notice the exact same thing... Some albums have the exact date, and some only have the year.
Is it like this for anybody else?

Here's a thought...maybe nobody has answered because they don't have a solution for you, and there's no point in posting a "gee, I'm sorry I can't help you" response. Or, as this appears to be an iTunes-related issue, and not necessarily associated with the iPad itself, you might try posting in the appropriate forum.
Here's another thought...blatantly insulting the group as a whole is probably not going to get you the type of attention you seek.

  • In new iOS 8 photos app, I am missing photos in photo view that are in album view

All my photos in the iPhoto app on my iMac appear correctly in the album view in the new Photos app on my iPhone 6.  However, not all the photos appear in the photos view.  To try and get the counts to match, in iTunes, I synced my iPhone after unchecking the syncing of photos.  I checked the Photos app on my iPhone and there were no photos.  Then I checked to sync all photos in iTunes and synced my iPhone again.  Every photo on my iMac was in the album view, but there were still missing photos in the photo view.
Anyone have this problem and a solution?

Thanks for your response.  Turns out the iPhotos database was corrupted.  I rebuilt it and now the counts match.
I do have summarize photos turned off as you suggested.
But now I have a new problem.  I have smart albums in iPhoto on my iMac that correspond to decades.  These albums and the photos they contain appear perfectly in the album view on my iPhone 6.  However, a few photos in the photos view appear with the wrong date.  So I'm working on resolving this.

  • Deleted photo and thumbnail still shows up in album view and camera roll

Hi, whenever i delete a photo on either my ipad(2) or iphone(4s), the thumbnail of the deleted photo still shows up in the album view and camera roll.
Also, a picture that i deleted months ago (have saved other photos since then, and replaced the thumbnail) from my ipad randomly showed up in the album view and camera roll??
I have IOS 5.0.1 installed on both iphone(4s) and ipad(2).
Is this a software glitch or??
    thanks

Sounds like a damaged database fie:
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Can you sort albums by release date, rather than year, in album view?

I love the new album view in iTunes 11, but the only problem I have with it is sometimes albums are in the wrong order.
For example, last year Green Day released a trilogy of albums called ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! but since they were released in the same year, they're ordered as ¡Dos!, ¡Tré, ¡Uno! when sorted by artist and then year which really doesn't sit right with me.
In short, the sorting options for albums view are very limited, is there any way to extend them?
Also I'm aware that I could, as a cheap fix, change the sorting in album to the release date backwards, but I'd rather not do that as it would make it a bit more troublesome for me to navigate my albums on my iPhone.
    Thanks!

I agree that Apple should improve the year field to be an actual date.
I am not 100% happy doing this, but when you have multiple albums from a single artist for the same release year, a temporary solution is to chage the album title by adding an outline type letter before album titles for that year, so that they appear in the correct order:
    David Bowie
    1977
    a. Low
    David Bowie
    1977
    b. "Heroes"
    etc
This could help in the short term until Apple changes that field.

  • Viewing one photo at a time and adding that photo to an album

Typically I import photos from my camera into events, and then I take the best photos from the event and put them into an album named after that "event"
To do this quickly, I usually want to see the photo full screen (I just double click on a photo in an event and click next to browse)to check for quality, and then drag that photo to the album. For some reason you can't drag the single photo you're viewing to an album?
Any ideas? I hate having to open the photo, look at it, close it, then drag it to the album

Since you can't drag a photo when viewing in the large mode you can try the following:
1 - make sure the Info drawer on the right side is displayed.
2 - click on a photo and hit the Space bar.
3 - click on the Full Screen button at the lower left.
Now you're in full screen mode with the Info drawer at the right.
4 - either set the rating of the photo to one that you can use to group in a smart album (Command-1 for 1 star, Command-2 for 2 starts, etc.) or add a keyword that can also be used to group the photos in a smart album.
5 - use the right or left arrow keys on the keyboard to move to the next or previous photos.
6 - when complete go to the smart album and drag the photos into a regular album.

I am working in photshop elements 13 organizer, album view, and would like to resequence (rearrange) the photos shown in the album but am unable to do so.  My understanding is that you can click on the phots that you want to move and drag it to a new location within the same album.  After i select the photo that I want to move and click on the photo, I get a cirlcle with a diagonal throught it and am unable to drag the photo to its new location.  What am I doing wrong?  I know this should be a simple thing to do.  Thanks

    Jimmy RG
    In the Elements Organizer 13
The key to all this is to click on/select/highlight the Album that you have created in Local Albums.
Then make sure that the Sort By: (in the row below the highlighted "Media" header is set for Album Order.
You should see a number at the top left of each of thumbnails.
Then, click on the thumbnail that you want to move, hold down the click, and drag the thumbnail to the wanted new location
in the line up of thumbnails.
Often I had to press down hard on the drag.
Please let us know if that worked for you.
Also, in Edit Menu/Preferences/Keyword Tags and Albums/Enable Manual Sorting Options, I set all for manual.

  • Album view in order of date added. Is it possible?

album view in order of date added. Is it possible?
In v10 I got used to ordering my music library with the newest additions on top, date added with the album view if it didn't take up more space.
Now it's just the songs and I really don't like this. Album view is interesting but usless in alphebetical order which seems to be the default.
I was told by another person here to use a smart playlist but the method they suggested was not clear.
Can someone please explain how to do this or if there is a better alternative for someone who liked the old song view>date added>with album art?
    -thanks

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. By "nr" are you referring to the shipping invoice that comes with the book? If so the answer is no. To order a book the library containing the book needs to be used.
If someone had a copy of the library that created the book initially they could order a book on their own Apple account without you knowing about it. *+BUT they would have to have a copy of the iPhoto LIbrary to do so.+*
So unless you think someone had access to your computer which housed the library a second copy of the book could not have been ordered.

  • I want to name individual photos in the album but I am unable to select view sort in the drop down menu How can I overcome this?

I want to name individual photos in the album but I am unable to select view>sort in the drop down menu How can I overcome this?

Great to hear, but what was the solution?

  • Delete a photo permanently after selecting in *album view*

In iPhoto 11 in Lion 7.1, I know that if I select some photos in an Album (that is, in single Album view) and delete them, they will be deleted from the Album only, not from iPhoto itself. In other words, the photos will remain in Photos view:
I can of course search for the identified photos in Photos view, but that means noting (in single Album view) the photo numbers assigned by my camera (eg., P6160092) to each photo and then, for each photo, changing to Photo view and searching for a photo and deleting it. Time-consuming, inelegant and tedious.
Doing the selection in single Album view is important because I will often want to delete neighbouring (repeat or faulty) photos, or the nearby originals of a panorama created from them. Deleting quite a large number of photos is important because it is so easy to take many versions of a scene.
Therefore, what I would like to do is to select them in single Album view and then tell iPhoto to delete them not only from that Album but also from Photos view (and therefore delete them from the computer).
I was able to do that in an earlier version by selecting the photos on Album view, then pressing CMND OPTION DELETE, then CNTRL-CLICKING on iPhoto's Trash icon and choosing "Empty Trash". I haven't dared do this on my present collection in case something goes badly wrong. "The Missing Manual" is no help here.
So, how can I do that please?
Also, I note that if photos are displayed in Events view, the resulting Events are not in alphabetical order (like I have my list of albums) which seems unhelpful. So what is the point of Events view if it simply duplicates the list of Albums?

    You ask:
So, how can I do that please?
    But you have already answered:
selecting the photos on Album view, then pressing CMND OPTION DELETE, then CNTRL-CLICKING on iPhoto's Trash icon and choosing "Empty Trash".
Sorry but I really don't understand what you're asking.

  • Move photo in album, view returns to select location

    iPhoto '09  v8.1.1 424 (earlier versions, too)
    Organizing/moving photos in an album:
When dragging a photo(s) in an album, say to move it from row 20 to row 1, where drag requires an auto scroll by holding the thumbnail at the top edge of album window, iPhoto returns view to row 20 when photo is dropped at row 1.  Same for any drag, up or down, if pick location is off screen from drop location.
I would like to have the view stay at drop location.  No pref for this.  Any way to fix?
Or click to select, then mouse scroll, and some hot key click to insert photo at new location (view stays at insert location).
Also, iPhoto has a very narrow target strip for the auto scroll.  Any way to widen the scroll control area? Or tips to work it?
    Any comment appreciated.
    -B

That seems to be the default behavior of that version of iPhoto when dragging in an album.  Not much you can do about it at this time.
There is a new version of iPhoto 8, iPhoto 8.1.2, that you could update to and see if that helps.

  • Why do my photo dates change she Facebook updates an album?

When I click on a FaceBook album in Aperture.  The little clock thing goes around and around then when it is done all the photos in that album have a date of waht the current date/time is.  It makes all them pics out of order when looking ato photos.  I don't want this.  I want the dates to remain the original.  I have no way of knowing waht the original date and time was now!  Very frustrating.

BTW, the title should be Why do my photo date's change when facebbok updates an album?

  • Elements 10 organizer reordering photos in album view

In elements organizer you can drag and drop a photo in an album to change its position when the display is in ablum oder. This is very slow if you have a lot of pictures. Is there any other way to change the order that is quicker? Can you use the numbers that ogranizer assigns to each photo to tell it where to put the selected photo?

      No.
But alphabetical file name order is an option if you select Date (Newest First)
