Photo Deluxe 2.0

Is there anyway Photo Deluxe 2.0 can be made compatible with Windows 7 or above?  There are no longer updates or support for Windows XP and that is the program that many of us used to run 2.0  It's such a perfect and easy photo editing program for the amateur and older adult.  Nothing else out there comes close to 2.0 and from what I've read on the Internet, there are plenty of people that want to continue using it, but no longer can.
Thank-you for any feedback!

Unfortunately you seem to be lost in the maze of Adobe forums. I don't even think there's any way to find out any information for anything as old as Photo Deluxe. Sorry, but it's time to move on to something a bit more 21st century. There are scores of photo apps including many that are free.

Since this has nothing to do with Adobe Digital Publishing Suite, I'm going to lock this thread.

  • I'm new to the whole thing of forums, so I apologize if I'm doing this wrong . . .  I need help on with an old version of Adobe Photo Deluxe 2

    I have the disc for Adobe Photo Deluxe 2 --- I know it is a very old program, but it does what I need to do in a very easy way.  I have tried downloading PhotoShop Album starter edition and Adobe Photoshop Elments version 7 - and they just don't do what I need as easily - or I can't figure it out.  Anyhow, I'm using vista on a new machine and cannot run Adobe Photo Deluxe 2 - any help to get this program running would be greatly appreciated.  I'm mainly using it to fix and edit clip art for a church newsletter.  So I really don't have a lot of money (like none) to spend on buying a new program that still won't do what I need it to do.  Thanks for any and all help on this issue.

    First use JPanel not Panel.
    Panel panels[]=new Panel[4];becomes
    JPanel panels[]=new JPanel[4];Then refactor your code so that you use arrays correctly:
    panels=new Panel();
    panels.setLayout(new FlowLayout(FlowLayout.LEFT));becomes
    panels=new JPanel();
    panels[i].setLayout(new FlowLayout(FlowLayout.LEFT));
    I did the above changes to your code and it worked fine.

    1)
    Do not click 'run' after unzipping. Find the contents that are unzipped. Right-click on the setup.exe and choose to 'run as administrator'.
    2)
    When asked for a destination directory, use this:
    C:\progra~2\deluxe\

  • How do I get Photo Deluxe 3.1 to work with Windows XP?

    I have recently upgraded my PC (used to have 98SE).
    Since then, I cannot get Photo Deluxe 3.1 to work
    I *DO NOT* want Photoshop - it's WAY WAY WAY too complicated for me.
    Photo Deluxe 3.1 was great, did everything I wanted it to do, and was so simple that even George W. Bush could work it.
    The features that I used are :
    * Allowing a print screen image to be pasted with CTRL+C
    * EASY cropping of photos
    * Wash out of photos (for back inlays of CD mixes - the back inlay was a washed out version of the front inlay, with text over the top)
    * BASIC, easy to do brightness & contrast controls
    * EXPORT - so I can export any image to almost any format, particularly JPG
    Ideally, I'd like to continue to use Photo Deluxe 3.1
    If I REALLY must, I want a SIMPLE Photo Editor (IE, NOT Photoshop) that will do the things I did with Photo Deluxe.

    For the tasks Jangly Mark describes, GIMP is certainly easy. It would take less than 10 minutes to discover/learn how to do these tasks in GIMP.
    The only reason why GIMP may appear to be difficult to us is because we are accustomed to Photoshop's different controls and methods.
    Here are some GIMP quick tips:
    Cropping:
    Press 'Shift-C' to start the crop tool. Draw box. Adjust Corners. Hit 'Enter'.
    Creating a washed imaged:
    Tools Menu->Color Tools->Levels
    Adjusting Brightness and Contrast:
    Tools Menu->Color Tools->Brightness-Contrast

    Find the EXE file (the program itself) in Windows Explorer, right click on it, find the 'Properties' contextual menu item, adjust there.

  • Photo Deluxe 2 on the iPad?

    I just love my photo deluxe 2 software.  But it will not go on windows 7 or 8.  Could I buy a Ipad and use a external CD to install the software on a Ipad?

    there's almost nothing that will work on an ipad unless the product explicitly states it is an ipad app.

  • Adobe Photo Deluxe 2 won't load photo from scanner

    I have been using APD2 with my scanner and as stand-alone for a long time. Recently, it stopped accepting the scanner files - something about not recognizing the file type or extension. What can be done on this?
    Also after loading and editing a photo file from My Documents, I tried to export it back to My Documents as JPG file. APD2 abruptly shut down - my edited file lost. Help on this also, please.

    Look at your scanner preferences.  For some reason, it has decided to save your scanned documents in a format that Photo Deluxe doesn't recognize.
    If the scanner preference insists that it is saving the scanned documents in a common format - like jpg or TIFF, then change the preference into something else, wait a second, and then change it back to jpg or TIFF.  This would force the application to re-write all of the preferences back to your hard drive.  This can help you if the scanner preference is "slightly" corrupted.
    I'm not familiar with Photo Deluxe, so the following might not make sense.  I'd save the next scanned file to a folder, or to the desktop, so I could actually see what file extension is being added by the scanner.  Then I'd tell Photo Deluxe to import the file.  Making this a two-step process allows you to determine where the problem is.
    It's conceivable - but highly unlikely - that your copy of Photo Deluxe has become very slightly corrupted, and really can't recognize jpg or TIFF files.  In such an unlikely case, you just would have to delete it and re-install it from your master disks.

  • Adobe photo deluxe 3.0 and Vista compatibility

    I recently upgraded to Windows Vista. Adobe Photoshop 3.0 was installed on my prior Windows XP version but did not transfer over to Vista so many of my photos on my hard drive I cannot open.
    #1: Is there driver software that I can download so that I can install Adobe 3 or do I have to buy new Adobe software.
    #2: If I do have to buy new software, will I beable to open the pictures that I cannot open.
    Please and thank you.

    Photo Deluxe is NOT the same as Photoshop.
    And there is no such thing as "Adobe 3". Adobe is the name of the company which creates many different software titles, each of which has their own specific name.
    Which software EXACTLY do you currently have?
    The details are important, otherwise, discussions aren't much more than spinning tires and slinging dirt.

  • Is Photoshop Elements (11) similar to the old Photo Deluxe Business Edition?

    I'm still using Photo Deluxe Business Edition, but I've heard you'd have to use the XP emulator to get PD to work on Windows 7.
    Obviously, PD's clock is counting down.  I'm figuring one or two Windows versions down the road, you won't be able to use PD at all.
    Someone suggested Elements 11.
    Does anyone here know if it has all the features that PDBE had, or if there are some features missing?
    Does Elements 11 have a text feature, where you can add words to photos (or to other types of .jpg files, .bmp files, etc.)?
    Does it have a "paintbrush" to add streaks of color to a picture?  Can you also fill even an empty canvas with color?
    Can you change the picture resolution?  Change the measurement size of a picture, and so on?
    I'm assuming if I'm familiar with PD then it won't take long to get used to Elements 11?
    If anyone can help out here...
    Thanks.
    EDIT:
    Does anyone know if Elements can still open the old .pdd file format from Photo Deluxe?

    Yes you can do all that.
    Why not download the trial version of PSE11 and use it free for 30 days.
      Edit
    You may need to convert the PDD file to another format in Photo deluxe or another converter.

  • Comparison between Photo Deluxe Bus. Edition and current Photoshop programs?

    I'm still using Photo Deluxe with Windows XP, and I know the XP emulator on Windows 7 Pro should allow PD to still work, but the next OS may not.
    Can someone who's familiar with Adobe Photo Deluxe Business Edition and Photoshop tell me what current version of Photoshop will give me the same abilities as Photo Deluxe Business Edition did?  (Or will come the closest.)
    If anything possible in Photo Deluxe just CAN'T be done with current Photoshop programs, could you also specify what those lost features would be?

    Perhaps this will be helpful from an old thread on web.
    "I transitioned from Deluxe 2 to Photoshop Elements (V. 1 and now 2) last year. I do the same kind of projects as you and really enjoy using Elements. Elements is much closer to providing the same functionality as the pricier Photoshop. The interface has less obnoxious "guide me" kinds of presentations that mar Deluxe and allows you to control the amount of application-provided help to a greater degree than with Deluxe. The only thing Elements lacks that Photoshop offers are color management and separation functions for commercial printing.
    Elements also has some tricks that Photoshop doesn't, especially the Photomerge feature. This lets you stitch (or rather blend) two or more images into one. I use it a lot in scanning items that are larger than my scanner window. Also great for panoramic shots and artsy collages.
    Opinion: Elements is far superior to Deluxe. The clone tool alone is worth the new software."
    Note:  Believe they are now on Photoshop Elements 11, so should be even better.    Still under $100 I believe.

  • Has Adobe disabled my Photo DeLuxe 2.0?

    No sooner do I consent to a free Abobe update that appears as a pop-up on my computer, than my Photo Deluxe 2.0 ceases to be able to locate various types of files and open them.  Jpeg files can't be opened.  The error message says the app can't find the file I've selected.  I have reloaded the app using the disk and re-registered but this has not solved the problem.

    What system are you on? Sounds like your update seriously busted up something, but the software being so old, it will be difficult for anyone to provide assistance since most of us don't even remember. It might be a lot easier and less painful to use a free image viewer like IrfanView or get Photoshop Elements than work out potential technical issues that are quite elusive. As a start, you might try to reinstall once more, but making sure to run with administrative privileges...

  • Photo Deluxe

    In Photo Deluxe 1 there was a feature that allowed users to colorize artwork without losing the original lines in the artwork....do Photo Deluxe 3 or 4 have this feature? The original Photo Deluxe quit working after Windows Vista (and I had to use the compatability feature to load it then)...Replies will be appreciated.

  • Adobe Photo Deluxe Home Edition 4.0

    I have dozens of photos saved to this edition. When I click on "my photos" I get all the thumbs, but each photo has an inverted yellow triangle and when I click on the thumb I get "file not found". They must be somewhere. I've gone to the Windows search menu, typed in the name of the photo file name, but nothing comes up. How do I restore these photos? Where are they? How can there be thumbs but no photos?
    Any assistance would be welcome.

    I can't help you Jill, sorry...
    My problems are different but I love my photodeluxe I had to find ways around it and I finally did..
    I have had a terrible time with Vista.  Adobe does NOT support its older products, so Vista is not compatible with the 3.0 or the 4.0 photodeluxe.. The drivers are different and I have not been able to get my scanner to operate. So I had to buy an HP scanner and printer combo. (scans pretty good) The good news for me is that the 4.0 does load, won't work, but does download and I can use the software on the pictures etc., that I scan in with HP.. What a crazy thing my PC is loaded with extra non-working software... So that's my fix....

  • Photo Deluxe 4.0

    I've been working with this program on windows xp with no problems for quite some time.  Just 2 weeks ago it would not allow me to save any pix in .pdd or export to jpg.  I receive an error as hungapp.  Nothing I've tried has worked.  I reinstalled 3 times, changed the amount of RAM it uses and tried changing the compatibility to win 98 but to no avail.
    I realize this is out of date but I've stuck with it as it's much easier than the more complicated newer versions.  Does anyone have a suggestion?  Thanx so much

    Thanx for the suggestion.  I should have explained what it is I use the program for.  I have used elements before but I guess I'm just used to P/D 4.
    I use it specifically to change backgrounds or add people to photo's.  The feature where you can cut a face from one pix and drag it onto another then blend it into it.  I'm not sure if one of the newer ones has that. It's so simplified in my archaic version. I'll look for GIMP in the meantime.  Thanx again
    The most basic image editor will do that.
    I just checked with a friend's Elements Version 2.0 (!) and even that had all the tools for that job.

  • I installed Photo deluxe 4.0 on my new computer running windows 7.  It won't boot up.  I can't find new drivers online and I can't uninstall it either.  What should I do?

    ?

    That was a freebie, half a$$ed application that was given away with scanners, digital cameras and the likes.  It has been obsolete and unsupported for years and years,
