Photo Directories don't all display (Ipad)
I'm trying to sync photos from my PC to my Ipad, however iTunes does not recognize all of the photo folders in my My Pictures folder. When I select specific folders, only a few of the folders in the My Pictures directory show up. Any ideas?
Your photos are synced to the iPad by the date that they were created (I think) and they will not sync with the names using iPhoto. There are apps available in the App Store that let you organize, name and sort into folders. One that I saw is called Photo-Sort. I'm not a big "photos on the iPad" user but this app looks cool even to me. There are apps available for captioning photos as well. Just search the App Store.
There are also apps that let you transfer photos via WiFi or Bluetooth but I don't know if they transfer with the names either. Search the App Store.

Is there a way to transfer my photos, about 2,000 so the names go with them?? I used iTunes and the pictures are there all bright and beautiful, but not names to sort by. And they came in a semi-random order. Maybe if I did them in batches one folder at a time, those would at least be in order.

All photos in portrait format are displayed blurred in the preview mode "fill" of the library. In all other modes e.g. "fit"or "1:2" the photos are sharp. How can I change this, so that the photos are still sharp when displaying them in the mode "fill"? My Lightroom release is 5.7.1.
Thanking you in anticipation!I'd like to get all these '-1 suffix' files together with their associated Develop adjustments into one folder (if they aren't already) so I can see them in Grid view in the Library module, which I use as my basic starting point for everything else at this early stage of my Lightroom 'career'.
To see what folder these are stored in, right-click on a photo and select "Go to Folder in Library".
Advice: if you are going to use Lightroom effectively, you probably want to stop using folders as your method to create a grouping of photos that are already in Lightroom; there are plenty of built-in tools, such as keywords, collections, color labels, etc.
I don't understand why the search on the entire catalog picked up apparently the same two file versions but also got the Develop adjustments when going to the relevant Folder didn't show the adjustment black squares against each image in Grid view nor were they there when the images were opened in the Develop module. Perhaps if I understood this, I'd be a bit more confident of moving forward myself.
These are most likely different versions of the same photo, in different folders. Lightroom stores the edits in its own catalog, and so it knows that one folder's photos have edits, and the other folder's photos do not have edits. Please understand that Lightroom is a database, it knows where the photos are at the time you import them (or add them to the catalog by synchronize), and then if you move things around in your operating system, Lightroom does not know anything about that and problems begin. Thus the advice to organize using Lightroom tools and methods and not operating system tools and methods. -
How do I manage photos between my ipad, iphone and imac without using all the storage on the various devices?
If enabled, iCloud Photo Stream ensures all new photos are sent to all your devices. Then you can simply add the ones you want to each one's Library, and delete any photos you don't want.
One technique is to designate one device as the "master" containing all your photos - probably your iMac, since it is likely to have the greatest available storage - and make sure you have a backup strategy for it. That way, any photos you choose to keep on your iPad and iPhone are redundant copies that can be deleted as you wish, or as required should you need to restore your iOS device. If your iMac breaks and its Library irretrievably lost, the importance of its backup becomes critical. Therefore, consider having more than one backup, and more than one geographical location for them. -
One time when I tried to sync my iphone 5 it did this but I resync'd it and it worked. But my new ipad sync'd them all into 1 folder and I'm not sure how to fix it.
Help.Did you try resyncing the iPad like you did with the iPhone?
I assume that you do realize that you can only sync one level of subfolders within the main photos folder - you can sync a folder within a folder inside the main photos folder.
You might want to try resyncing - but not all of subfolders at once. Sync a few folders, then sync a few more, then a few more. But remember that you have to include all of the already synced subfolders in each subsequent sync or the photos will be erased from the iPad. -
Ok, I have deleted EVERYTHING off my 16gb ipad. Photos, music, apps. All I have are the standard apps. It says I have used 11gb and only have 1.6 left. When I first bought it I had up to 4 movies and lots of apps, no problems. What's going on please!?

With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

I Have an ipad 2. I have never back up my photos ever since setting it up or ever since I bought it. Wiith all the previous upgrades that I have I never lost any photos and videos taken from the ipad itself. Now I upgraded to the new IOS 8 and all my photos and videos are all gone. Is there a way to retrieve the lost photos and videos?
Did you have I cloud that automatically back up you data to iCloud backup happens when you charge your iPad Have a look in Settings iCloud backup If you do then all your photos will be safe When you have iCloud if you buy a new iPhone / iPad And you use the same Apple ID all your Apps & photos will download to your new Device Cheers Brian

I am trying to update my apps on my 4s but says there is not enough space. It shows i have 19.3 GB of 25 GB. Also, in my itunes...it shows about a quarter of space on the bar is photos but I took all the photos out. Don't make sense.
It's telling you there's not enough space *on your 4S*. The 25GB you refer to is probably that on iCloud, that's different memory than that on your iPhone. You need to delete video, pictures, apps, or whatever ON THE IPHONE, to make enough room for downloading updates to your apps.

I connected my ipad to my computer to sync my photos and it deleted all my apps, they synced back on to my ipad but all my Noteshelf apps items were deleted, how can I get these back?
What do you mean " back up my photos or Apps"?
The photo sync is one way - computer to ipad.
You can transfer itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one. -
I uploaded photos in .jpg format to my iPad, but now all of those photos appear as .ithmb files and cannot be opened, even on the thumbdrive they originated from. How do I get them back to .jpgs?
Sorry, should've mentioned some more information. I synced the ipad to the folder of photos. The original photos had file names like "_MG_4865.jpg" and after syncing the folder in Itunes, all files were now found in a folder called "iPod Photo Cache" which was filled with many folders with labels like "F23" etc. (There were ALOT of photos.) In those folders there are several files with names like "T343.ithmb". Not a .jpg to be found and I can't view any of the photos.

You turn iCloud Photo Library on in Settings > iCloud > Photos. However it doesn't "empty" the pictures to the cloud. The most you can do to free up space using iCloud is to turn on Optimize Storage to keep a smaller device-sized version of the photos on your iPad. I've created a photo book in iphoto on my ipad. When I try to order it (by clicking the price of the book in the top right corner) it says that Your book contains empty photo frames - add photos to the empty frames, or change the page layout to include fewer photos" but when I look at each page, there are photos in all the frames. What do I need to do to order this book??????

I loaded my ipad photos from camera and all the pictures sorted by date. I later sync my ipad with my computer and the photos were all reorganized into IMPRT folders an out of date sequence. Any idea how to put the photos back into date files other than reloading all of them from camera?
What version of iPhoto?
Select one and rotate it. Then rotate it back. Does that make it appear?
A much better work flow is the keep the photos after importing. Check the success the import, wait for at least one successful backup cycle then use you camera's format command to reformat the card

You are not speaking to Apple here. So none of us can "fix it."
TRy try quitting the Photos app followed by a reset of the ipad. To quit an app double click the Home button to reveal the row of recently used apps. Flick up on the page preview and it will fly away and disappear. That quits the app. Then Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot. -
I have much fewer pics on my pc photo stream than my ipad and iphone. how can i get my pc photo stream to show all my pics?

You'll need to get it all onto one iTunes collection on your Mac Pro, then sync the devices to that. iTunes only lets you transfer purchases from a device, otherwise you have to use third party software.
I guess you could also look into getting iTunes Match.

IPhoto 5, iTunes, and iPod sync
My iPhoto Library (iPhoto 5.0.4) is located on another partion of my PB's internal harddisk than MacOS X. No problem working with iPhoto, but iTunes won't recognize the iPhoto Library, and so I cannot have it sync the photo with my iPod. Any ideas? P
