Photo export quirk is causing serious grief!
I have a ton of wedding photos that are arranged chronologically in an album in iPhoto. All of the pictures have been renamed with descriptive titles in place of the original sequential numbers that the camera gave them. I want to upload all of the renamed pics to my photo host and the only way to retain the titles made in iPhoto is to export them to a folder outside of iPhoto. Fine, no problem. But the folder will only arrange them alphabetically, by date modified, or date created. I want to just upload all of my renamed photos in their chronological order, as they are in the iPhoto album. What am I doing wrong?
What you'll have to do is rename the in iPhoto with the Batch Rename->Title to Text sequentially. Then export them to the desktop using the File->Export->File Export menu option with the additional option to use the title for the new file name. That will produce the alphanumerical listing of your image files in the order you want.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

I have made a burn folder with photos exported from I-photo. It now shows in information, that the date created and modified is different from the original digitized date. How can I get the original date to show in the info from Finder?
The Finder reports File information. The date and time of the photo are in the Photo's Exif metadata. The Finder has no awareness of this. All photos apps on any system do.

Recent windows 7 updates caused serious conflicts??
I have two NI PCIe-1433 boards and the NI Max v5.4 installed. Recent win 7 (64 bit) automatic updates, within the last 10 days seemed to cause serious problems. Win 7 couldn't boot any more. Sometimes computer turns on and off by itself before the windows logo shows up. Sometimes it crashes before I can login.
I did a fresh reinstallation of win 7. The same problem happened after some automatic updates. I can boot and use windows 7 if I unplug both NI cards. This makes me think the problem is in NI driver/card. I'm reporting it here to see if anybody experiences similar things.

After I reinstalled the fresh Windows 7 (64 bit), I installed NI IMAQ software. I was able to use both boards to acquire images at that point. However Windows 7 kept updating itself. Later the same problem happened again.
After unplugging both boards, I have been using the computer for 2 days without a problem. My computer's power supply is 650W. Does the boards require a lot of power?

Missing thumbnails on photos exported from iPhoto to desktop
I have a number of photos on my desktop that were saved there from Photoshop Elements. They don't show as thumbnails, only JPEG icons. Photos exported to the desktop by iPhoto do show as thumbnails. Is there any easy way to get the Photoshop Elements icons to show as thumbnails?
Search macupdate.com for thumbnails. There are several items that will do what you are asking. If I remember correctly findericon might be one of them. It might be finder icon.
Isn't there an option to save Thumbnail preview in the save box of elements. I could be wrong on that. -
Exporting an already-rendered Sequence causes serious error.
Several times, I have tried clicking File->Export->Media, and suddenly adobe premiere pro would tell me that a serious error has occurred and then the program closes. This was during a 1280 x 1024 square pixel resolution video. I have not tested any other resolution. This error would occur if I had rendered my media and then clicked File-Export->Media. If I delete the render files and then click File->Export->Media, the adobe media encoder runs fine and no problems are seen.

Thank you for your help!On your timeline you should see a colored strip on the top of your sequence. If its red you have to render. If its green then you are using a dynamic preview that allows you to watch things at real time.
To be sure everything is rendered click on:
Sequence>Render All
Then make a CHECK next to all the selections. Click back on your sequence and press option+R. This will render everthing in your sequence bypassing realtime effects and should allow you to export your file. -
Gallery problems and photo export issues with all images JPG Raw damaged.
I'm starting to panic. I trusted Aperture 3 and upgraded entire library from Aperture 2.0.
Yesterday I uploaded new project from a photoshoot. and today is gone. Just like that. I did some export already before from that project so I know that it was there.
Yesterday I had couple crashes. But it should be saved??

I'm badly hurt!!!!!!!!!!!! do you have same problem??this gave me a scare. I deleted preferences + everything in pro applications. I deleted Aperture and reinstall everything from the disk. Updated library and now it works. I even get my lost project back. It remembered my Places, but not faces, strange.

Random Photos export distorted
I am having a problem with photos in Premiere CS6. I render the sequence and the photos play back fine, but after exporting as a windows media file, random photos are distorted. I have exported the sequence several times and the problem then moves to a different photo. What could be causing this?
Hard to say.
Start by using a different player, like VLC or KM Player. Do they also exhibit the issue? -

Would like to export photos from iphoto '08 to be viewable on Digital Picture frame. Photos for the picture frame need to be jpegs of 12MP scaled image to 640x480.
I have used the export feature to a compact flash media. When inserted to frame. I receive an error. On the website for the digital frame the error indicates that there is too much date in the jpeg -EXIF data associated.

Try the following: export the 640 x 480 files to a folder on the desktop. Insert the CF card, and drag the folder on to it. There are some issues with files at the root level of the PC formatted cards, FAT 16 I believe.
In order to get more photos on the card I use Resize! to resize them to 640 x 480 at a 60 quality level. That gives me files in the order of 100 KB in size.

How do I save a photo exported from iPhoto and edited in Photoshop Elements 6 back to iPhoto?
My photos are downloaded to my iMac iPhoto 09. I am able to export directly to Photoshop Elements '06 to edit but when I try to export the edited photo back to iPhoto it goes to Pictures, not to iPhoto where I want it to go. Any suggestions?
Did you really export it or did you set PSE as your external editor? If you used file>export in iphoto, then you must import the edited photo back to iphoto as a new file.
To avoid that you can set PSE as your external editor in the iphoto preferences, and iphoto will remember your last saved edits + original, but you must not change the name or format of the image when saving. If you see the save as window it won't work. You may need to go to the PSE preferences>saving files and set On First Save to save over existing to avoid seeing the save as window. It will not work with raw files. -

Why do my photos edited in Photoshop cause iPhoto to quit?
I've been using iPhoto for years and in the last few days I can no longer edit or open certain pictures within iPhoto. Everytime I click on photos that have been edited in Photoshop Elements 3, the iPhoto application simply quits. Other photos that have NOT been touched by PE3 open okay. The same happens when I try to view a photo (edited in PE3) full size in the main gallery section (i.e. not in the edit mode). I've edited THOUSANDS of photos in Photoshop Elements 3 and never had this problem until now. It suddenly started about five days ago. I've deleted by iPhoto plist and even reinstalled iPhoto 6.0.4. But nothing seems to work.
I've noticed when exporting photos that the orginal is the same size as state in hte info section of iPhoto - but the one edited in PE3 is much larger (someties twice the size). Is that the added information? Is iPhoto keeping two copies of each picture - the original and the modified version?
Could it be that my Library size is now too large? 16,000 photos and a total library size of 46.7 GB?
I use a Nikon D2x so even the jpegs I shoot are fairly large. I've ordered Aperture 1.5 - will that solve the problem? Or will the same thing happen? My computer by the way is a Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8 (one fo the first) with 4.5 GB of RAM.

Crystal Report export to PDF cause high Heap usage ?
Hi all,
As part of our reporting integrated with our JSF/JSP application, Crystal report is converted to PDF then sent to browser for user to display. mean while during peak load our Heap usage could reach 3.5GB - 4GB. So I am suspecting the unclosed byteArrayInputStream is the cause.
(This is a production application so I am collecting information before change the code)
Is the unclosed() byteArrayInputStream really cause the problem ? (the codes is below)

just incase yourselves or others come looking for possible solutions.
I created a very simlpe report with 2 groups and not much in the way of complex functions. Whilst reporting against about
100 pages of output everything worked fine, but as soon as we pushed the report up to 500+ pages we got all sorts
of issues.
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
After much hair pulling and trial and error I discovered that the issue came about where I did not declare formula variables as local. I was concatinating various street address details for of the envelope windows.
Stringvar Address; // I was using this declaration
Global Stringvar Address; // Specific Global declaration
Local Stringvar Address; // Changed to this declaration
After changing to Local, my report now runs with no hassels. And the memory usage whilst exporting the report has gone from maxing out at over 1GB to almost nothing (dont even get it registering)
Am sure someone can come up with a better explanation for this and give reasons but just thougth I would share.

How come rotated photos export/share as un-rotated?
I've imported many old photos to my iMac's (Yosemite) iPhoto app. I rotated them as needed and adjusted date/time on some that got the wrong date on a previous (other app) edit. Now, they sort well by date and look great. However, export or share (e.g. to Shared Photostream) the old date shows and they're un-rotated. Is iPhoto always exporting/sharing the Original version? Any easy work around?
I solved my own problem...
I keep all of my music on an external HD, and iTunes was unable to write to this drive, thus not being able to accept the ringtone file. There was no warning or error message, however. To fix this problem, go into iTunes settings and set your iTunes folder to a local disk instead of an external. -
I lost some photos in iPhoto. But I found some photos in my Iweb pages. How can I export those photos back into Iphoto?
Got it. Now........Iphoto library in the sidebar, at
the top. Is that the same I photo library in the
"LIBRARY" folder? In other words if I delete from
the side bar..............are they gone?
Ack!!!!! Yes, yes, and yes!!! Don't do it! The "Library" listing in the source menu is all of your photos. Here's a pic of it... I didn't know it was deletable, but don't try it.
And second. To back up iTunes and iPhoto, which
folders do l drag to the EXT. HD?
To back up iPhoto... just open up any Finder window and you'll see a folder called "Pictures" in the sidebar on the left. Click on this and the folder will open and you will see the "iPhoto Library" folder. Drag this "iPhoto Library" folder to your external HD to backup all of your iPhoto pictures.
To back up iTunes... again look in the sidebar of any Finder window and click on the "Music" folder. Inside this folder you will see a folder called "iTunes". Drag this folder to your external HD to backup your iTunes music library. -
Ios iphoto "add a caption" removed if photo exported why ?
Where outside iphot can the captions be viewed
- I've synced a photo folder from itunes to my ipad.
- Worked on them all in iphoto so they are edited and given them each a caption
- Now to get them to my computer I've decided to copy to camera roll.
- I've reopened iphoto and it updated the new photos in camera roll but it has WIPED the captions.
I have seen the same if I try to export to itunes then reopen in iphoto on ipad.
What is the point of using captions in iphoto if you cant save them in any other app and read them. They are not saved in the EXIF or IPTC info of the image, as I've looked at that in Photoforge2.
When will iphoto for ipad get an update its workflow needs tweaks to make it amazing, it doenst need a re-write.
I really want to love this app stop making it hard to use it just isn't apple.Apparently captions are used only in iPhoto. Not sure why.

How reduce Sbo-common log is over 40GB??
Hi all I have a big problem that what I think my SBO-COMMON_log.LDF is very big and the server tell me everyday that I don't have enough free space on HD. I'd tried to clean and shrink the SBO-COMMON_log.LDF but I can't. Please HELP!!! Thanks all. Pa
