Photo folders on Apple TV

I have a comprehensive photo collection on my PC arranged in a folder structure by decade, year and specific topic eg \My Pictures\2000\2009\2009-10-01 New Year pics.
If I sync the folder 2000, on the ATV I get the individual year folders, but no folders within each year. Instead I get all the photos for a given year as a single stream.
Am I missing something or does the ATV only support a single level of folders?

If this is the case, then it should be at the top of Apple's priorities to get fixed. What is the point in having 145 GB storage available if you only have one level of folders.
I can't be the only user with a large photo collection. Come on Apple, this is a poor user interface.

  • Display Photo's on apple tv

I used to use Aperture but now I use Adobe Lightroom to store and edit my photo's. Is there a way to view the photo folders on apple TV or should I still use Aperture with the files referenced, instead of being in the consolidated aperture library, just so I can view on the tv and sync my devices easily?
    I hope this makes sence.
    thanks DL

You have to double tap the button and then swipe from left to right to bring up airplay

  • How to delete new, unwanted photo folders

I just got the brand new itunes update and put some new photos on my iphone and now i have 2 new photo folders: photo library and the name of the folder from the computer i put on there. Both folders contain the 2 pictures i wanted to put on the phone but now i don't need them on there and i can't for the life of me figure out how to get rid of them. I tried going into itunes and deselcting the folders like i'd read to do on here but there is no option to deselect folders or anything and i can't swipe right to delete them on my phone or anything. Any help would be appreciated cause this is ******* me off lol Why do apple make it so god **** hard to just delete unwanted ****?!

  • IPhoto crashes when importing photo-folders that contain aliases

When iLife '06 came out I decided to move my iPhoto-library to a bigger disk by simply creating a new library and re-importing my >10000 photo's. All I got was crashes.
It has taken me quite some time to find out that an alias to the TOP of my photo-folders inside one of the folders deep down in the tree was causing this.
Removing the alias 'cured' the problem...
I suggest Apple writes a fix that makes sure iPhoto does not follow these kinds of aliases, that cause some kind of endless loop...

    Suggest that at: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html

Hi mterry1723, one solution that might be worth trying is this:
    - Close iTunes, if it's open
    - Open Safari and got to 'Preferences'
    - Select 'Security' on the top
    - Untick all the security options in the menu
    - Click the 'Show Cookies' button and look for all the 'apple' entries in the left-hand column.
    - Highlight them (select them collectively) and press 'Remove'
    - Now open iTunes and buy the song as usual.
    - You may be asked to do the same security process as before, so do as asked.
    - Hopefully, the security check will now have accepted your answers and start downloading the song as normal.
Remember to re-tick all the required security options you had just un-ticked in Safari preferences. You don't need to bother about opening the cookies again.
I hope this has worked for you and my profoundest apologies if it has not. Worth a go, though!

  • Photo folders sync randomly

My photo folders will sync not alphabetically but random inside my ipad. Any suggestion on how to sync alphabetically without having to delete the ipod photo cache, I have 13500 photos and it takes for ever for for I tunes to rebuilt the ipod photo cache. Thanx

If you mean the photos within the albums then they will be ordered by the photo's capture date if syncing from folders (you can set the order on a Mac in iPhoto and Aperture), and the only way to change the order is by manipulating that date on the photos prior to syncing - more info on ordering http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4221 .  I don't whether this will change in iOS 5, but you could try leaving feedback if you want the option to have them alphabetical : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

  • Photos folders synchronization

    Hello all,
I have an iPhone 4, and a Windows 7 PC plus iTunes. Usually, I make a lot of photos. Both for work and for fun.
About 2 months ago, in order to create some folders for the photos, I copied all the photos from the iPhone to my computer, using Windows Explorer. On the computer I placed the photos in folders, I deleted the photos from the iPhone, and syncronized the phone with the computer, via iTunes. This way, the photos folders were also created on the iPhone. Everything is fine up to this point.
Since I do not need duplicates of my photos, I deleted them, and the folders, from the computer, knowing that they are in the iPhone. Today, after 2 months, and 190 new photos, I want to keep the old folders in my iPhone and to create new folders with the new photos. Suprise - using Windows Explorer, I cannot see the photos which are in folders in the iPhone. More than that, the iTunes only gives me the option to synchronize the computer with the iPhone, but only by creating in the iPhone what is in the computer, and not viceversa. Since I deleted the old photos and folders from the computer, I fear that, by syncronizing, they will also be deleted from the iPhone.
I am thinking to send myself the photos from the folders, by e-mail, but it will take me some 30-40 mails to do that, so I was looking for a simpler way.
Do you have some suggestions? In those folders, I have some videos as well.

"Since I deleted the old photos and folders from the computer, I fear that, by syncronizing, they will also be deleted from the iPhone."
Correct, they will be deleted from your phone. The photo sync is one way: Computer to phone. You'll need third-party software to extract these photos from your phone, as Apple makes no provision to do so. Bear in mind, these photos were reduced in resolution for display on your phone, there is no way to recover their full resolution.

  • Syncing Photo Folders; iTunes adds 2,000 photos also?

    Hello all,
I click Sync Photos on iPad and iPhone sync. I select (create) a folder and add sub folders in it, with photos in the sub folders. I select that main folder as the folder to sync photos with for iPad and iPhone.
I sync my devices, and where I should have 200 or 300 photos, I have 2,338 photos.....
Now, I navigated around these Discussions and it seems that others have this problem. It seems to be a bug. No one seems to have a work around. With iPad, the extra photos are poured into the Photos/Photos section. Oddly, I cannot even find these photos on my iMac HD, so I have no idea where they came from. Tons and tons of photos that are not in the synced folders I ticked.
Apple, please fix this bug... 2,338 photos is ALOT....
    lh

Goodness, I feel bad... I found a folder that had been accidentally dropped into a sub folder in my iPad photo folders.
I learned that all photos in the main 'photo folder structure' will be included in the main 'Photos' section in your iPhone and iPad and iPod Touch. So if you have photos you do not want on your devices, (like 2000 photos), just not 'unchecking the folders' will keep them off of your device. You 'must' take the photos folders 'out' of the folder structure you have synced to. That will keep them out and keep some room on your device.
2,338, lol... Thats alot of photos.
My apologies for thinking it was a bug. Truly, I think that 'unticked folder's (folders selected only) is a bug, but I had found out what was going on with my system. If you select a main folder to sync with, and you have sub folders, and you tick 'sync selected folders only', then the 'excess and unchecked' folders SHOULD NOT go into the device... right?

  • Deleting photo folders

I'm an absolute beginner to iDVD 5 and cannot find a means of deleting photo folders from the Customize>Media sector of iDVD 5 - the <delete> key is inoperative on highlighted folders. There is an option under <Preferences>, <Movies> to <Remove> movies - and only movies - but not under <Slideshow>. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Jeff:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are you trying to delete the slideshow from iDVD or the iPhoto Album folder that you see in the Media section of iDVD when you select photos, like the Easter folder here? If that's it then you can't. That's an album that's you created in iPhoto for the purpose of assembling a select group of photos for use by iPhoto or iDVD or iMovie.

  • Photo Folders - Cannot Reorder

I used to be able to reorder my photo folders in iTunes. I recently attempted to reorder some folders in iTunes 9 with no luck. Does anyone know if this feature has been removed? Maybe I'm just doing it wrong.

That's quite the feature downgrade from previous iTunes editions!
Not everyone uses iPhoto to archive their photo albums,
it was nice and easy to put the albums into an individual order with iTunes in the past ...
Apple, please consider adding this feature back with the next iTunes update ...

  • I figured out how to put photos onto the Apple TV Screen-Saver

I was having trouble using photos with the Apple TV screen saver.
I got as far as putting them into the photo stream, but some photos were crooked, with no way of editing them.
I called Apple, they didn't know what to do.
I am submitting this after calling Tech Support at Apple, wanting to give them the information...don't know if they really took it to heart.  I figured this out myself with the help of my son.
I want to share it with others.
    So, let me begin:
I texted my son, he had set it up once for me, but I deleted the file.
So he told me to edit the photos on my iPhone, in my photostream.  Well there wasn't any to edit.  The file was not there.
So going through my PC, I clicked on "My Computer"
    I clicked onto "iCloud Photos"
I get what looks like the above photo.  Click on "New photo stream"
You will then get this screen.  In the "to" field, send it to yourself.  And then name your file, click "next".
It will then give you this screen:
When all the photos load, click done.
THEN, go to your Apple TV.
    Settings:
    Click on "Screen Saver"
    Click on "Photos"
    Click on "iCloud Photos"
Click on the file you named on your PC.
Now you will find, like me on "previewing" that some pictures were not straight.
Go to your iPhone, click on your "Camera Roll"
    Click on "Photo Stream"
Then you will see your file that you created for your screen saver.
Click onto your file, from there you can click on the crooked photo and click "Edit", it asks to save it to "Camera Roll".  Click there.
What I did then was delete the crooked picture and at the bottom of this file within your "Photo Stream", go to the bottom of the photos, it will have a tile with a plus sign in it.  Click on that to add from your "Camera Roll" the corrected picture.
Do this for every crooked photo.
    ALL DONE!
When done, go to your "Camera Roll" and delete these photos.

This issue is resolved, through the generous advice of folks on this page.
See my reply to Apple (2nd gen.) photo shuffle.  The Fix that I posted works for Apple 3 Gen, which was just purchased Dec. 27,2013.
    Thanks to all
