Photo Galleries / Web Galleries

Just upgraded from Elements 3 to 5 - pleasantly surprised with the Animated Web Gallery templates. Any idea if Adobe will have (or does have) any additional templates available?
My new Granddaughter would like a pink background
- the baby animated template is blue.
- Any suggestions on changing the background color.
- I'm new to HTML
- can't find an obvious line with the background color I'm sure it's a number vs a descriptive name)
If I have posted this in the wrong Forum - please let me know.

  • Title photos of web galleries are not changeable?

    Dear everybody,
I've been trying to change the "title photo" of some of my web galleries - that is the picture a viewer sees first when entering the gallery overview. Simply putting the desired picture in first place via iphoto doesn't do the job. Do you think it is necessary to create a new gallery each time I want to change the title photo?
    Help and ideas appreciated!
    Thanks in advance.
    Keywan

Open iPhoto's preferences and go to the Web Gallery section. There you can change the overall name of the Web Gallery Title that is seen online.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Hidden Photos and Web Galleries

Looks like if you have an event with contains some hidden photos and you publish the event to a web gallery, the hidden photos also get published.
Is there any say to prevent these from being published?
    Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. No, the web gallery will include all photos in the album or gallery. You can change how you create the web gallery. Open the event, select the photos, not the album icon, and create the event from just the selected photos. That should exclude the hidden photos.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Web Galleries on Photo pages?

I think I already know the answer is no, but... I much prefer the .Mac Web Gallery and it's options to the older photos page you create from iPhoto. I have converted a couple of albums to Web Galleries.
My questions is regarding putting those on a Photos page. I only seem to be able to put a Web Gallery on a blank page. Dropping it onto one of the default album spaces that pop up on a Photos page (where you drag in from iPhoto), of course, does nothing. My main reason is that I would like to consolidate Web Galleries on an Albums page - I really like the look of the albums themselves and it's a nice gateway. I have been able to make a rectangle, change it to a picture frame, resize it and use that, but it's not the organization I prefer, and, again, I'd like to have the gateway in those nice albums. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm searching the forum for a solution to this too; web galleries look cheap next to the albums, and there's no reason for it. Short of changing all of my albums to galleries, here's my temporary solution, but it's a half-measure:
    1) Drop a square on top of your .Mac Web Gallery widget that's just a bit larger than the widget.
    2) Select the square, and in the Inspector, go to the Graphic Inspector, and under Stroke, select Picture Frame.
    3) Select the frame that matches your album's format, then resize the square until it's just about the size of the widget, or provides the desired border width around the widget.
    4) Move the square backward, behind the widget.
    5) If desired, add a dummy album name beneath the gallery for visual continuity.
    See my example here: http://www.vehphoto.com/sandrift/Photos/Photos.html
This worked for me because I'm using a white background and white frames; your mileage may vary depending on what theme and picture frames you're using. (I can't recall if I enabled additional frames in the Inspector as described in the Keynote forums - if a matching frame appears to be missing in the Inspector, let me know and I'll double-check this.)
Still, it's a sub-optimal solution, because 1) the widget cannot be resized 2) the widget still contains the gallery name, and 3) widgets cannot be rearranged the way albums can - they probably have to be segregated from albums.
I'll be posting feedback on this at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iweb.html

  • LR Web Galleries, need help

I use LR's web galleries for my clients to view their proofs on line, I am on a Mac and my clients who are on a PC see white specs in the very black areas of the photos, I tested this out and it is only when viewed on a PC that this appears, not on Mac's. Are you familiar with this problem? Is there a way to fix this?

Can you establish a sample gallery to show the problem and post a link to it here?

  • CS4 Bridge and Web Galleries

This is probably nit-picking, but I liked a web gallery which I have been using on a site which has about 13 galleries on it. The choices for web galleries in CS4 are OK, but when I checked the file size on a web gallery in CS4 with an identical one I did with CS3, the size was about 5 times as large.
Since I have upgraded to CS4, the old CS3 Bridge isn't available (to my knowledge) and I had to move all the photos from Bridge in CS4 to a folder so I could access the web gallery from CS3.
Tell me if there is an easier way to use the old web gallery directly from CS4 or a way to access the old Bridge from CS3?

Hi all<br />It is still possible to create webgalleries and contactsheets in CS4, but you have to copy some files and folders from a folder called Goodies which you can find on you install disk or download as extras from Adobe.com. <br />In the "...Goodies\Optional plug-ins" folder there is a OptionalPluginsReadMe.pdf where they among other things write:<br /><br />"1. From the Photoshop CS4 install disc, drop the //<language>/Goodies/Optional plug-<br />Ins/Automate/WebContactSheetII plug-in into the //Adobe Photoshop CS4/Plugins/<br />Automate folder<br /><br />2. From the Photoshop CS4 install disc, drop the //<language>/Goodies/Presets/Web Photo<br />Gallery folder into the //Adobe Photoshop CS4/Presets folder and then restart Photoshop."

  • Web Galleries from before MobileMe missing from iPhoto

All of my web galleries from before the MobileMe upgrade are missing from the iPhoto left panel. They all show up online at gallery.mac.com and gallery.me.com and in iPhoto under Preferences>Web Gallery>"Albums you published as. The one gallery created after the MobileMe upgrade does show up in iPhoto left panel. Can I re-sync the galleries? or is this a bug?

All of my galleries that existed before the changeover are still in my library. Must be something other than just a changeover issue. Look in the iPhoto/Web Gallery preferences to see if they are still listed there.
Do you still have the albums you used to create the galleries? You might have to recreate and republish them with the same gallery name.
Do you have a backup copy of the library or of the library's database file, Library6.iPhoto?

  • Can't see web galleries in iweb

I've published multiple .mac web galleries but don't see any of them listed in the widget list in iweb. What am I missing, do I have to do something special to see them?
What's the best way to include my web galleries if I have a ton of them I want to list on my website?

It may not be a bug but a feature to not display any photos that are acutally in the gallery when announcing a protected gallery. I don't know. But you can report by using the iWeb->Provide iWeb Feedback menu option in iWeb.
If the gallery is password protected but your want a photo from the gallery to be in the link, add a small photo to the page, size it to a reasonable size and then link it to the web gallery. When visitors click on the photo link they will be taken to the gallery and have to put in a name and password before they can access it. You can email that info to them in a separate email.

  • Blank images in web galleries

Since I upgraded to Mac OS X 10.4.9, when I create a web gallery, I typically end up with 3 or 4 out of 200 images which are all white or partially white. If I export a version using the same settings, it works fine. Has anyone else experienced this? I really like using web galleries to show proofs to clients, but this makes the process a bit tedious.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Mac Pro 3.0 GHz Duo Core   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I am still experiencing this problem when exporting images as jpegs on version 1.5.3. It's now showing portions of some images blanked out in white and sometimes blanked out in black.
I use Aperture to create proofing galleries for my client and what should be simple has become a tedious process because I have to scan every photo in a gallery to look for corrupted exports.
Please point me in the direction of a solution.
    Thanks!

  • How to customize flash-based web galleries?

Has anyone here figured out how to customize the CS4 Bridge flash-based web galleries? Specifically, I'd like to be able to add the "description" line from the metadata to an image, without having to add ALL the metadata (as a couple of the galleries allow).
Seems like such a simple thing. Can't imagine why Adobe didn't add it. It is standard in the older HTML gallery templates.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Barring that, does anyone know of a second-party flash photo gallery that allows for information this information to be displayed?

Flash is not supported on the iPad - and as Adobe have announced that they are stopping development on all mobile versions of it, it probably never will be.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter, Puffin and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store.
If you do a search on this forum you will find hundreds of other threads on the subject.

  • IPhoto and compression of uploads to iWeb albums and Web Galleries?

It appears it's been established that iPhoto automatically sizes uploads to Web Galleries and iWeb albums to 800x600 no matter the resolution of the original picture.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5118968#5118968
You can clumsily work around this in Web Gallery by uploading directly through the gallery upload button or via email, as discussed here.

What I'm wondering is whether there's a way to do something similar in an iWeb album? My experience is that even if I do specify the option in the photo inspector to allow Original (Full Quality) downloads from the album, the files are still heavily compressed somewhere along the line, with 2.2MB originals coming back at 650KB or so.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

    Hi.
I don't have iPhoto 08 yet, but had a similar concern in iPhoto 6. I let iWweb do it's thing and then overwrote the images that it produced.
How? I edited the photos to the way I wanted them in Photoshop or Aperture(!) and saved it out to the largest size (800x600, I believe). Then I set up an Automator action to dupe and resize the pictures to the thumbnail size. When done, I moved the files to my iDisk and put em wher they belong.
It's a bit of a hassle, but I got the quality that I wanted...also, not sure if that'll work in 08...

  • Aperture 3 and iPhoto web galleries...

    Hi Folks,
I have used iPhoto and want to shift to Aperture 3. I have the 30day trial installed and have imported my iPhoto library successfully. iPhoto events, photos and albums are shown in Aperture Projects but I cannot see MobileMe or Facebook albums that were uploaded and displayed in iPhoto.
How am I able to import these web galleries into Aperture 3?
    Martin Fuggle

I figured out the mobile me galleries but not FaceBook.
First you need to create at least one new MobileMe gallery from within Aperture.
Go to the MobileMe galleries in Safari. Click on the "adjust settings" tab and it will ask which app you want to sync with. Obviously, select aperture and hit publish. You need to do this for ALL the albums individually.
    Done right? I thought so.
I opened Aperture and the albums were still not in there. Go to Aperture preferences and to "Web" there you click on something to the effect of check for new published items. Click to check now.
    Voila.
If you figure out the facebook albums let me know. I am guessing those are not possible to do.

  • Web Galleries and overall image migration

    Hey all,
I've got a question regarding the MobileMe web galleries. I'm pretty sure that you can create them in three places; Aperture, iPhoto and iWeb. So my question is kind of relating to two methods of creating and collaborating web galleries.
Say that you've created a web gallery in iPhoto in a pinch but use Aperture primarily. Now you're on Aperture and want to continue to update that gallery. Is there a way to migrate that gallery from iPhoto to Aperture. Or, and this is my situation more specifically, say you're on vacation and create an Aperture based web gallery on your Macbook. Now you're back home and want to continue using and updating that web gallery but are now on the Mac Pro. Can that gallery be migrated from the Aperture database on the Macbook over to the database on the Mac Pro?
To that point, how about image alterations and settings. I've captured some 1200 photos while on vacation, tooled around with them on my Macbook while away making color adjustments, adding vignettes and general improvements. Is there any way to then migrate those albums and/or settings over to the other database in the other system? Seems a shame to have to do all that leg work all over again. Perhaps it's just a matter of grabbing album folders from the database package and bringing them into the other database package?

"Migrating" your photos, albums, adjustments, etc. is a piece of cake. Just export the project/s using file export project from your laptop and use file import project on your desktop. Move or share the .approj file from your laptop to desktop in the way you are most comfortable with.

As for web galleries - can't answer that one with detail because I find them uselessly frustratingly unexplainably notoriously unreliable and I hate that you have no control over color profile for downloadable images. So I don't use them now after playing with them for a bit.

  • Strange behaviour in .mac web galleries

    Hi,
I have started to use .mac web galleries with aperture 2. However, I am witnessing some very strange behaviour. Firstly, it seems to take forever to update, the icon at the side of the gallery is permanently on the 'update' icon.
Secondly, whenever I add new photos to the gallery it actually creates an entirely new gallery with all the photos from the previous gallery.
Is anybody else having issues with the aperture flavour of .mac web galleries?
    thx
    Phil

I have a similar problem Phil! I watch the status indicator for a web gallery progress to about half way then it stops, the album doesn't get published. I have published albums before this started happening, and have published other albums successfully but sometimes certain albums don't publish. I delete them and repost them to no avail. Hopefully we can get some answers! This is quite lame, don'tcha think?

  • Download pictures from web galleries

Hi, I had a problem with my computer and had to reinstall OS. I had a one-year old back and recover most of my files except some photos. I posted them as photo galleries using iWeb. I would like to know if I can restore the photos from my galleries back into iPhoto.

Welcome to the discussions. Whilst connected to the Web, in iPhoto '08 you could try clicking on the iPhoto menu > choose +Preferences... > MobileMe+ tab > in +Check for new photos >+ choose +Manually >+ click +Check Now.+
