Photo Import Issues
Is there a known issue synching photos to the New iPad from iTunes 10.0? I got it to work once (once I figured out the Folder/Subfolder thing) and now nothing will synch. iTunes goes through the motions of syching, but then nothing is going over to the connected iPad3 (new). I hear rumors that this is an issue with either iTunes or the OS5, but unable to confirm it.
As a photographer who bought the iPad SPECIFICALLY to display images to clients, this is a major disappointment. Has anyone else heard of this problem? Is Apple addressing it somehow?
Thanks for any help.
There might be sufficient in my comments in the attached link to help you - https://discussions.apple.com/message/17944825#17944825
You could also deselect the photos, do a sync, reselect the photos and try another sync.

IMovie (9.0.6) photo import issue....
I am creating a new video on iMovie (9.0.6) using videos and photos. I imported several different "event" folders of images from iPhoto. Everything was going fine until I got to the last event. When that was imported, all 164 images of the event showed up as the same image.
I have tried several different work-arounds.... restarted the computer, checked for updates, uploading the images individually, etc. All the images in the events I'm uploading were taken with the same cameras. They were uploaded into iPhoto on the same day.
I can't imagine what the issue is. All the other events were uploaded with no problems at all. Please help!
Thanks!
RobThere's a workaround .. delete the currently installed iMovie app. Then reinstalling will give you iMove 9.0.6.
Use this free utiilty to uninstall iMovie > Download AppCleaner for Mac
Once it's uninstalled, you can re download iMovie for free using the same Apple ID it was originally purchased from.
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed then click Install. -
Photo import issues LR2 EOS 5D MK2
using Windows XP SP3
Lightroom Vers. 2.4
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MKII
images: RAW and S-RAW
Since I have this camera I do have issues that not all pictures will be imported into my Lightroom library. This happens during import from Hardware. In fact I have not conected the camera, but inserted my CF card to my PC (as I always did).
LR import takes a long time (an hour if I have for example 150 images). Sometimes I do receive a message that my USB device could be quicker using USB 2.0 (which I have; checked and could not find any newer driver or update).
LR ends the import with an error message, that the system could import several pictures because of not enough memory. Which is strange, because the harddisc has more then 50% free space.
Thanks for any idea !How much RAM do you have on your PC?
Sounds like the card reader could be at fault.
Do you have a dedicated USB card reader?

I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong. How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?
If I understand you correctly, when you enter a date in the Adjust Date and Time window, the picture does not update with the date you enter. If that is the case then something is wrong with iPhoto or your perhaps your library.
How large a date change are you putting in? iPhoto currently has an issue with date changes beyond about 60 years at a time. If the difference between the current date on the image and the date you are entering is beyond that range that may explain why this is not working.
If that is not the case:
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.iphoto
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: to get to the "home > library" hold down option on the keyboard and click on "Go" > "Library" while in the Finder.
Let me know the results. -
IMPORT issues: Works with iMovie 3 but not iMovie 6 ???
Okay, still trying to get my import issue resolved.
I have a SONY HDR-HC3 DVmini.
No problems with iMovie 3 on my Powerbook.
iMovie 6 on my MDD will let me control the camera, but the screen stays BLUE with no IMPORT.
My buddy thinks it might be a Quicktime issue.
He said to download Quicktime Pro, that might resolve this issue.
I can copy the iMovie 3 file to my machine with iMovie 6 and do the editing, just not the importing...
THANXHi
Can be so much.
Often Camera has to be connected to Charger/mains during Capture.
An majority is a faulthy - badly connected FW-Cable (USB don't work at all)
My list on this
*NO CAMERA or A/D-box*
Cable
• Sure that You use the FireWire - USB will not work for miniDV tape Cameras
FireWire - Sure not using the accompany USB-Cable but bought a 4-pin to 6-pin FW one ?
• Test another FW-Cable very often the problem maker.
Camera
• Test Your Camera on another Mac so that DV-in still works OK
• Toogle in iMovie pref. Play-back via Camera (on<->off some times)
• Some Cameras has a Menu where You must select DV-out to get it to work
• Camera connected to "charger" (mains adaptor) - not just on battery
Does Your Camera work on another Mac ?
Sorry to say it is to easy to turn the 6-pin end of the FW-cable 180 deg wrong.
This is lethal to the A/D-chip in the Camera = needs an expensive repair.
(Hard to find out - else than import/export to another Mac ceased to work
everything else is OK eg recording and playback to TV)
Connections
• Daisy Chaining most often doesn’t work (some unique cases - it’s the only way that work (some Canon Cameras ?))
Try to avoid connecting Camera <--> external HD <--> Mac but import directly to the Mac then move
the Movie project to dedicated external hard disk.
Mac
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk ? Please specify the amount of free space.
(Other hard disks don't count)
I go for a minmum of 25Gb free space for 4x3 SD Video - and my guess is 5 times more for 16x9 HD ones
after material is imported and edited.
SoftWare
• Delete iMovie pref file may help sometimes. I rather start a new account, log into this and have a re-try.
• Any strange Plug-ins into QuickTime as Perian etc ? Remove and try again.
• FileVault is off ? (hopefully)
Using WHAT versions ? .
• Mac OS - X.5.4 ?
• QuickTime version ? (This is the heart in both iMovie and FinalCut)
• iMovie 8 (7.1.?) ?
• iMovie HD 6 (6.0.4/3) ?
*Other ways to import Your miniDV tape*
• Use another Camera. There where tape play-back stations from SONY
but they costed about 2-4 times a normal miniDV Camera.
• If Your Camera works on another Mac. Make an iMovie movie project here and move it
over to Your Mac via an external hard disk.
(HAS TO BE Mac OS Extended formatted - USB/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange WILL NOT DO)
(Should be a FireWire one - USB/USB2 performs badly)

Hi Bengt W, I tried it all, but nothing worked. Your answer has been helpfull insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos) to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before. Thank you. LKN 1935
from Karsten.
in addition to Bengt's excellent '9 yards of advice' ..
camera set to 'Play' , not rec/computer/etc.?
camera not on battery, but power-line?
did your Mac 'recognize' this camera before...?
a technical check.
connect camera, on, playback, fw-connected...
click on the Blue Apple, upper left of your screen ..
choose 'About../More..
under Firewire.. what do you read..?
More
• FileVault - Secure that it’s turned off
• Network storage - DOESN’T WORK
• Where did You store/capture/import Your project ?
External USB hard disk = Bad Choise / FireWire = Good
If so it has to be Mac OS Extended formatted
----> UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange is NOT Working for VIDEO !

Thanks for all your suggestions. What I learned is that I had a software problem. I had something called "Nikon Transfer" on my Mac that was recognizing my Canon camcorder as a still camera and was preventing iMovie from working properly. After uninstalling Nikon Transfer and doing a reboot, everything worked great.
I never liked the Nikon Transfer software anyway--I guess I'll get a cheap card reader and use that to transfer photos in the future.
*No Camera or bad import*
• USB hard disk
• Network storage
• File Vault is on

The problem was the external backup hard drive that is connected, you need to disconect the external drive before the mac can see the video camera.

Importing issues with Final Cut Pro X. Green flash and twitches while play back
Hello, I'm having some importing issues with Final Cut Pro X and I can't find any solution whatsoever. Perhaps my importing settings are wrong?
Anyways, I've done a lot of recordings on eye TV and HD PVR with some videos that are about 3 hours long. I exported them into H.264 files, which turns them into mpeg-4 files with AAC audio. Then I import them into final cut pro X and I notice it takes a long time for them to render the videos and I notice that there are some green screens and twitches while I play through the video.
Here is a screenshot of the green screen that I'm talking about:

Could it be my 2 video graphics card that is causing this kind of issues? Or is there any solution to fix this?
In the past, I've used iMovie 09 and it worked out perfectly. However, the new iMovie 11 is terrible because it automatically optimzie my 3 hour long videos into making the importing process to (144 hours long to import). Is there any way to get iMovie 09 back or am I stuck on dealing with this Final Cut Pro X issues?

Viewing photos imported with camera connector
Hello,
I just purchased a camera connector and was immediatedly able to import photos from my camera with no problems. However, the manual states that I should be able to view the photos by (1) Choosing Photos > Photo Import, and then choose the roll I want to view and (2) Choosing Browse to display my photos.
The problem I'm having is that after I choose my roll it only shows the roll info (11 photos, size 17.3 MB) and options for Delete Roll or Cancel. There is no Browse.
I'm using a 60 GB Video iPod with version 1.2 firmware.
Any help would be appreciated. I've already searched the discussions and didn't see anyone with this exact issue.
Thanks.
MacBook & G4 Quicksilver Mac OS X (10.4.8)False alarm I guess. I didn't change any settings on the camera or iPod, but now I can browse through the imported pictures. Curious.

I upgraded to LR5.2 2 weeks ago from 4.3. Install went fine, but I'm now having issues when importing my photos, Lightroom hangs partially through the import. The only choice I have then is to force quit the program, which then freezes my computer. Getting to be an invredibly frustrating exercise.
I have an iMac with OSX10.8.5 (Mountain Lion)
Lightroom 5.2
Importing & converting CR2 files (5DMkIII) to DNG.
Images being imported to an external hard drive.
Nothing has changed in my workflow or software except for the installation of LR5. I did read in some of the forums that there was import issues that appear to have been fixed with the latest release, however, whilst I DEFINTIELY have the latest release of LR5, this is still occurring. Any ideas? Another bug?
Cheers
Sarahsure did. All permissions are admin & I'm it. I haven't tried DL via image capture - LR4 gets me to the same end goal, tis just rather onerous to have to muck around with this twice. Appreciate your taking the time on this

IMovie HD, iPhoto 08/09 - Photos import, render and then disappear.
*Software Overview*
• iMovie HD
• iPhoto 08, and iPhoto 09
• Mac OS 10.5.6 and Mac OS 10.5.7
• Network Home Accounts from Mac OS Server 10.5.5
*The Issue*
• Dragging photos from the Media Browser into iMovie HD.
• Each photo imports, renders and then automatically disappears from iMovie HD.
• This occurs regardless of what user is logged in, on existing Movies, or New.
• This occurs on a clean profile, with Photos imported from another Library via Sharing.
• This only occurs on Networked Users, Local Users have no problems.
• If the photo is dragged to the desktop first, and then into iMovie, it works successfully.
Has anyone run into this before?I am delighted to read that I am not the only one who gets burned by Ken in iMovie HD 6. I have spent hours on this problem and came to the same conclusion, that this is due to a glitch in OSX Leopard. The origin, mode of import or file format of the still doesn't matter. Interestingly, I seem to be the only one with the KB being stretched vertically (i.e. my fat nephew Ralf looks pretty slim). There are additional problems with the rendition of video effects. Several of the Quartz Composer effects (e.g. bump distortion, circle splash distortion) render bright and washed out.
I also discovered that iMovie HD v.5 (five) in Leopard still renders the KB effect without a flaw. I am lucky to still have the old 5 version in the box. So I work in iM 6 (iMovie 7 is the biggest software insult Apple has ever launched against their loyal fans) and when I need to bring in a KB effect I save and reopen in iM v.5, do the KB and reopen in iM 6 with the KB effect still perfectly rendered and ready for additional editing (titles, transitions). By doing most of the still imports and KB's at one time, it is not that inconvenient or time consuming. It certainly beats altering the aspect ratio of each still. Try to get hour hands on a iM 5 version until Apple fixes the bug (hopefully soon), although my fat nephew Ralf prefers the stretch version. I checked Apple's downloads, they don't offer iM 5. Check for iLife 5 on eBay. Good luck! -
Why do my iPhone photos import all scrambled?
Some but not all of my photos import with this scrambling through them. They don't appear like this until they are imported through iPhoto. Any help?
This is an ongoing issue for some users. There is no definitive fix. Some foks find that a second attempt at a download will get damaged photos without any issues.

Some iPhone 4S photos imported via Photo Stream are black
I'm seeing a whole bunch of iPhone 4S photos imported via Photo Stream as black images in latest iPhoto '11. When I look at the original file in finder, it is intact, however the modified one is just a black image (which is what shows up in iPhoto).
This is very concerning. I'm now manually re-importing all my 4S photos.
Strangely, the same photos that appear black in iPhoto Photo Stream are fine on my iPad and iPhone Photo Stream view.
So it seems that iPhoto is breaking them when it imports them. There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help:
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'

Aperture post import Issue - whats going on?
Hi all.
I've just imported a number of folders containing photos using the 'import files and folders as events' or something similar.
Now it's finished, it seems to have overwritten previously imported photos - example below.
Project A should contain 30 photos imported photos from my underwater - imported a week ago without any issues.
Project B should contain 7,000 photos imported from folders and files from over a few years from my DSLR - imported tonight.
After import, I selected Folder A (hoping to see underwater photos), and they start changing before my eyes! They physically swapped out for photos i'd imported tonight (Project B) in front of my very eyes!!!
Anyone know how to revert or fix this???
Thanks in advance/Hi Clem
At the time of the issue, the physical master files were on an iOmega Home Network Cloud Edtion NAS.
I imported these into Aperture so I would keep my 'master', then there would be another in USER/PICTURES/APERTURE/APERTURE.LIBRARY (or whatever it's called). I was hoping for time machine then to back up the library which contatins the photos and adjustments etc, and my NAS would contain the orginal from my camera - this is also back-up daily with a secondary NAS.
I think the issue has arisen when I've imported subsequent batches from pre-built folders (built by a non-aperture import tool). The comand 'import files and folders as projects' (or whatever it's called) has mismatched the referenced/managed libraries that Aperture uses.
So I will start again, but I will have to purchased some sort of UPS system moving forward.
Sorry for the "(or whatever it's called)" but I'm hoping you get the idea - I'm repling to you when not at home in front of my machine. -
IMovie Problems: Photo import and audio-video out of sync.
Photo import problem:
Some times, I have problems importing photos onto my new project, the photos will appear to be that just one same photo when played. It does not transit to the other photos following the first, it's just stuck on the first. Is this just an issue with iMovie '11? Are there any other ways to resolve this problem?
Audio-video out of sync:
I've checked some other discussions but I'd like to raise this issue again for APPLE. There are problems exporting my 7-minute film - the video and audio go completely out of sync no matter what format I export it to. There are not a lot of clips used. I'm now trying the method to detach the audio files from the video, hopefully it works.
These issues are bothering me, in addition to a failed firmware update on Mac OSX 10.7.2 a few weeks ago. I couldn't open my computer and I had to go to the Genius Bar to have them help me backup my files on my computer and reinstall the whole system again. Anyways, any help to the above iMovie issues are greatly appreciated. Just wish that Apple will address these current issues and not just focus on improving their products with awesome features ._.Hello,

-Update software
I tried to rebuild the iPhoto library but was unable to.
I am running a MacBook Pro (OSX Lion 10.7.2, 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB RAM)
