Photo Import Problelms

I am currently using Photoshop Elements 8 and have experienced troubles importing my photos. I will get a notice that states not all of my images have been imported because they already exist in the catalog. I know this is not true because this happens on the very first time I try to import pictures. I then review the images on the card and the images in the catalog, and the images are missing. Any advice on how to get these images into my elements 8 for editing?

What you can do is try making a new catalog and then import the images. This way the problem that the images already exists in catalog will go away.

  • IPhone 6 photos import but can't be deleted.

Photos import from my iTunes backup on my computer to my iPhone 6 ok but the trashcan icon doesn't show so they can't be deleted. New photos taken on the iPhone 6 can be deleted as normal. I've tried sync from "All photos ...etc." and from "Selected albums, Events ..etc." Any suggestions?

Only photos taken by iPhone can be deleted normally, the ones synced via iTunes require a new photo sync.
Create a empty folder on your computer.
    Connect device to iTunes.
    Choose "sync photos".
Choose the empty folder you created.
    Start sync.
    Done.

  • LR 4 & 4.1 can't create new folder manually during photo import

    Windows 64, i7, 12GB RAM
I don't seem able to create a new folder manually on photo import.  This still works fine on the same PC with LR3.6.  Anyone else seeing this?  Thanks.

I've sometimes found the 'Make New Folder' option to be a bit hit and miss on Win7....so I generally avoid it. In your case, wouldn't it be easier to have Lightroom create the folder for you by setting up your Destination panel as follows:
Obviously the selected target parent folder in your case would be "Photos Working Folders", use "Organize: Into One Folder", tick the Into Subfolder box and enter the name of the sub-folder you want, e.g. raw0015. As you can see, if the sub-folder doesn't yet exist, Lightroom then shows you that it will be creating it for you.

  • I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

If I understand you correctly, when you enter a date in the Adjust Date and Time window, the picture does not update with the date you enter.  If that is the case then something is wrong with iPhoto or your perhaps your library.
How large a date change are you putting in?  iPhoto currently has an issue with date changes beyond about 60 years at a time.  If the difference between the current date on the image and the date you are entering is beyond that range that may explain why this is not working.
If that is not the case:
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.iphoto
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: to get to the "home > library" hold down option on the keyboard and click on "Go" > "Library" while in the Finder.
    Let me know the results.

  • Sd photo import camera kit not working with iOS 8

I bought an Apple brand sd card photo import camera kit for the iPhone 5 (lightning cable) a couple years ago. It no longer works with iOS 8.x. I now have an iPhone 6 Plus and it still does not work. I get the error "This accessory is not supported by this iPhone." Since it is Apple brand it should work.
I have googled and searched the forums and found no leads on this. I was hoping with the latest 8.3 release it would be addressed. Does anyone know how to get this to work or is it an apple bug?

One article that might be helpful is here (suggesting you need HUB if it's drawing too much power):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4106
    @ rotorcraft:
It has to have a DCIM folder, but the directory after the DCIM folder, and the files themselves, have to follow DCF rules (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Designrule_for_Camera_Filesystem)..if it's the structure created by the camera it should be fine but if you change the folder to something other than DSC_xxxx and you change the image filename to something other than ABCD1234.whatever then it won't show up.
You can double check if the kit is being recognized at all in Settings -> About, then scroll to the bottom, it should say like Apple Card reader or something I forget. If it isn't, I would just reboot

  • IPhone photo stream photos import to macbook Pro but photos in albums on the same phone do not?

iPhone photo stream photos import to macbook Pro but photos in albums on the same phone do not?
When I connected my iPhone to the MB-Pro and imported the photos, all the ones on the phone in "the photo stream" came in fine,
But I have 4 "albums" containing different photos. How do I get those photos into iPhoto ... short of emailing them to myself?

When you connect your iPhone to the computer and import, all photos in the camera roll will be imported, but not the photos in other albums, for example, albums that have been synced to your iPhone. Sp, to import other photos from synced albums, you have to save these photos to the camera roll or use iTunes Photo Sharing.

  • Help with photo import quality in iMovie!

The resolution of the iPhoto (5.0.2) pics once dragged into iMovie (5.0.4) severly deteriorates on my iMovie project. The photos are 21 inches widecrystal clear JPEGS in iPhoto, Preview and Photoshop, except once dragged onto iMovie they look blurry and pixely. My digital camera is a Sony 7.2 (shot pixs at 5M)
Playing project footage on full screen in iMovie looks this way as well. So it is not just the import still shot on the clipboard that looks bad.
How do I fix this problem to get clear quality ?

Create your iMovie project in a high quality format (choose the highest one possible) and then the pics you import will be imported in a high quality. iMovie automatically adjusts the quality of your pics and movies based on the quality of the iMovie project you are creating.
I'm not sure what you mean by "a high quality format", hlokty. Are you referring to the iMovie Playback preference, which lets you pick one of three playback settings?
If so, note that preference does NOT affect the quality of the imported image. It has no affect on the quality of project clips like video, photos, or anything else. The preference only affects playback in iMovie itself. Low quality improves the playback smoothness. High quality improves the playback image.
If should be noted that iMovie NEVER shows us all the quality that's there, for either video or photos. That must be kept in mind when viewing photos imported to iMovie. It's important to not judge quality by what you see in iMovie. iMovie is a video editor, not a video player.
There are many Topics here discussing photo quality. To find them, search for words like "blurry" and "jaggies".

  • Viewing photos imported with camera connector

    Hello,
I just purchased a camera connector and was immediatedly able to import photos from my camera with no problems. However, the manual states that I should be able to view the photos by (1) Choosing Photos > Photo Import, and then choose the roll I want to view and (2) Choosing Browse to display my photos.
The problem I'm having is that after I choose my roll it only shows the roll info (11 photos, size 17.3 MB) and options for Delete Roll or Cancel. There is no Browse.
I'm using a 60 GB Video iPod with version 1.2 firmware.
Any help would be appreciated. I've already searched the discussions and didn't see anyone with this exact issue.
    Thanks.

False alarm I guess. I didn't change any settings on the camera or iPod, but now I can browse through the imported pictures. Curious.

  • IMovie HD, iPhoto 08/09 - Photos import, render and then disappear.

    *Software Overview*
    • iMovie HD
    • iPhoto 08, and iPhoto 09
    • Mac OS 10.5.6 and Mac OS 10.5.7
    • Network Home Accounts from Mac OS Server 10.5.5
    *The Issue*
    • Dragging photos from the Media Browser into iMovie HD.
    • Each photo imports, renders and then automatically disappears from iMovie HD.
    • This occurs regardless of what user is logged in, on existing Movies, or New.
    • This occurs on a clean profile, with Photos imported from another Library via Sharing.
    • This only occurs on Networked Users, Local Users have no problems.
    • If the photo is dragged to the desktop first, and then into iMovie, it works successfully.
Has anyone run into this before?

I am delighted to read that I am not the only one who gets burned by Ken in iMovie HD 6. I have spent hours on this problem and came to the same conclusion, that this is due to a glitch in OSX Leopard. The origin, mode of import or file format of the still doesn't matter. Interestingly, I seem to be the only one with the KB being stretched vertically (i.e. my fat nephew Ralf looks pretty slim). There are additional problems with the rendition of video effects. Several of the Quartz Composer effects (e.g. bump distortion, circle splash distortion) render bright and washed out.
I also discovered that iMovie HD v.5 (five) in Leopard still renders the KB effect without a flaw. I am lucky to still have the old 5 version in the box. So I work in iM 6 (iMovie 7 is the biggest software insult Apple has ever launched against their loyal fans) and when I need to bring in a KB effect I save and reopen in iM v.5, do the KB and reopen in iM 6 with the KB effect still perfectly rendered and ready for additional editing (titles, transitions). By doing most of the still imports and KB's at one time, it is not that inconvenient or time consuming. It certainly beats altering the aspect ratio of each still. Try to get hour hands on a iM 5 version until Apple fixes the bug (hopefully soon), although my fat nephew Ralf prefers the stretch version. I checked Apple's downloads, they don't offer iM 5. Check for iLife 5 on eBay. Good luck!

  • I can't import vertical photos to my iPad using the camera connection kit. Horizontal photos import without a problem, but verticals have a red exclamation mark. Help?!

I can't import vertical photos to my iPad using the camera connection kit. Horizontal photos import fine, but verticals have a red exclamation mark, and do not import. Help!?

I have the same problem and apple needs to fix this - but in the mean time you can manually select the vertical photos then "import - import selected" and you can get your verticals. We need a better fix. THIS IS A BUG!

  • Why do my iPhone photos import all scrambled?

Some but not all of my photos import with this scrambling through them. They don't appear like this until they are imported through iPhoto. Any help?

This is an ongoing issue for some users. There is no definitive fix. Some foks find that a second attempt at a download will get damaged photos without any issues.

  • Some iPhone 4S photos imported via Photo Stream are black

I'm seeing a whole bunch of iPhone 4S photos imported via Photo Stream as black images in latest iPhoto '11.  When I look at the original file in finder, it is intact, however the modified one is just a black image (which is what shows up in iPhoto).
This is very concerning.  I'm now manually re-importing all my 4S photos.
Strangely, the same photos that appear black in iPhoto Photo Stream are fine on my iPad and iPhone Photo Stream view.
So it seems that iPhoto is breaking them when it imports them.

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
