Photo Information Description - messed up

I was putting information in the Description box - lettering is white with a check box beside it. Somehow I deleted the the check box as well as the word "Description". When I noticed what happened, I tried typing in "Description", but it is now in a black smaller font and the check box is still gone. I tried importing the fotos to a new album, but the same persists. Any ideas?

Backup the library and try the three fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select options #1, #2 and #6.
Fix #3
Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

File -> Export. In the resulting dialogue you can choose to export the Original. Or, if you choose to export a Jpeg you can get the edited version. Check the boxes at 'Keywords and Descriptions' and 'Places Information' and you'll get the metadata, if that's what you mean by "photo information"

  • Showing/hiding photo information in BOOK

In iPhoto, Book, under Settings, the default "Automatically enter Photo Information" is checked. What is this photo information and where will it appear in the Book?
One help screen indicates it will appear in text areas but I cannot see any difference in viewing the Book in Preview if it is checked or not checked.
It would be nice if this pulled in the description of the photo

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. That feature only works in a one of the themes, Folio. There were others in iPhoto 6 like Yearbook that had that feature but those are no longer available.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Customer upload photos and descriptions classifieds

    Customer upload file app.
When a person submits photos with descriptions in the app i create for Business Catlyst, the descriptions all blend together with commas in a paragraph when I receive the informaation form the server. This make it hard to see what descriptions goes with which photos. How can make this information come in differently?

Ok-- I'm signed up but when I login it says that my secure zone access is denied.  In the email I received it says I currently have access to "Member Only Area (Expires 31-Dec-9999)
Do you have a default home page setup for that secure zone? There's no way to get to the web app submission form from the main navigation so maybe you can get me the URL to that page which I might be able to reach if I'm logged in.

  • Is there a way to see the photo information on the iCloud sharing pages?

There seems to be an issue with Apple wanting people to see the information for each photo easily.  When I share a photo in a shared album on iCloud, I don't see the title nor do I see any photo information, only the date that the photo was shared.
I DO see the date of the picture when it's in slide show view, in light font at the bottom right-easy to miss, but not when it's the basic view that allows us to scroll through the photos.
Is there a way to see the title and date of the photos on the left where the black space is and the sharing info is?
It seems that this whole Photos program is half-done...
    Thank you,
    Dave

There is an App at the App store called "Battery Magic". You can get a trial version, (free) that will show you what you want to know, including battery life, and how long you can play games, music and other things on your current battery life.
You can also download the full version. I think its $0.99.

  • When importing photos with iBooks Gallery widget, is anyone aware of a technique for simultaneously importing the photo's description (or jpeg file name) and writing it into the iBook Author caption field for the imported photo?

When importing photos with the iBooks Author Gallery widget, is anyone aware of a technique for simultaneously importing the photo's description (or jpeg file name) and writing it into the iBook Author caption field for the corresponding imported photo? I have 4,800 stills to import and can't imagine it's necessary to copy and paste the description for each.

As always, feel free to use the 'Provide iBooks Author Feedback' menu item for features you'd like added in the future, etc.

Have a look at this discussion - iPhoto Upgrade and Library Issue
It may be the same problem.
Select your iPhoto Library in the Finder. By default the iPhoto Library is in the Pictures folder. Ctrl-click or right click the iPhoto Library. From the contextual menu that will pop up select "Show Package Contents". Are there folders "Masters" and "Old Masters"? If there is a folder "Old Masters" the upgrade of your iPhoto library has failed.
Copy both folders - Masters and Old Masters to a drive, where you have enough space. The Old Masters folder will probably contain most of your missing photos. We do not know any method right now, how to fix a library, that has been corrupted in this way. If you cannot restore from an earlier backup, since your backup drive failed,
    backup the corrupted library,
create a new, empty iPhoto library,
then try to recreate the iPhoto library by importing the photos from Old Masters into a new iPhoto library. also, import any photos from Masters.
And send feedback to Apple. This bug needs attention urgently.  http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html

  • Sharing photos from iphoto 11, why does the photo information not upload when I click with share via email?  How can I make sure the photo information and location are shared when the photo (s) are shared.

When I go to share photos in iPhoto 11, The photos transfer to the email I'm sending but the photo information and location don't.  The older version of iPhoto did it, why not this version?  What am I missing in the process of sharing via email?, Thank You.

When you share to email do you get the following dialogue:

I think you can only see the map.  To see the actual EXIF data you would need to export and use a viewer.

    Hi,
Please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window%20-%20Content%20panel this.] You can check in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Options''' > '''Content''' > '''Exceptions''' (for images) and delete the address (I'm using another version but I think the method would be very similar). [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window%20-%20Content%20panel Options > Content]
If you blocked the image through an add-on, try right-clicking on an image on another website to find out the name of the add-on and open the add-on options to delete/disable the blocking rule. Alternatively you can also try via the '''Options''' for the add-on in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Add-ons''' > '''Extensions''' (on the left). Clicking on '''More''' > '''Home Page''' would take you to the help/support site for the add-on.

  • Photos application is messed up

when i open my photos the top inch or so of the screen is gray, on the other aplications it is shades of blue and stuff. Also when i scroll through my camera roll it is normally a nice smooth roll like when im going through my contacts but its almost glitching or lagging or something. Last thing is that the wallpapers that came with my iphone disapeared somehow and got replaced with my iphoto pictures???
it seems like my photo application got messed by the new update but i noticed the top of the screen was gray before that. Has anyone else had this happened to them or can i get advice on what to do.
    please and thank you, Jake

I'm not sure what more I can say about this... Your photos can be gotten to via the Photos (app) icon on the Home screen. The wallapers, however, are viewed in 'Settings/Wallpaper', along with an alias to your photos, as a courtesy... That's why you see *your personal photos* in 'Settings/Wallpaper', but this is not where you normally are meant to access them.
As far as a jumpy scroll of your photos on iPhone, how much free space do you have left (i.e., how full is your iPhone?)? It has been cautioned that you may see this type of device behavior (jumpy scrolling, app crashes, etc.) when your device doesn't have ample space. The proper amount of free space is a source of disagreement...

  • Iphone Photo Information?

Is there a way to view the photo information (label) on the iphone photo. I would like to label each and have a way to tap the photo to flip for the information like as a flashcard for teaching.
    Thank you....anyone!

There are dedicated flashcard apps, if that's your goal....otherwise look for portfolio apps aimed at photographers.
It's often easier to browse/search the store via
    http://appshopper.com
    especially for comparing apps.
