Photo iPod won't connect until iPod is rebooted

Every time I connect my 60 GB Photo iPod to my computer (via Firewire) it is not recognized unless I reboot the iPod (menu/select). Once it restarts, it connects without a problem. I have to go through this procedure every time I connect. Once it is connected and recognized by the PC, it will stay recognized as long as it is plugged in, but once unplugged, the reboot is required again.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Stan
Asus P4C800-E (home built); 300 GHz P-IV; 1 GB Ram   Windows XP

I realize that the ipod can be reset and brought back by holding down the home and wake button for 10-20 seconds.
It just that it's weird that it does that...

my ipod touch was submerged in water and now it is telling me to connect to itunes, but itunes won't connect until i put in the passcode, and i can't do anything to my ipod until it connects to itunes. so, basically i can't do anything from the ipod or to it from the computor. what should i do?

    Restore...
From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.
There's more to try but let's go a bit at a time.

  • USB devices won't connect until restart

    Hello,
I'm having a problem with my mac. If I turn on my computer and connect a printer / ipod / wireless camera then everything works fine. However, if disconnect the device and try to reconnect it a minute / hour / day later then it doesn't recognise it. If I restart the computer, everything is fine again. I've read about other people having the same problems but there doesn't seem to be a solution.

  • Photo stream won't connect to my computer

My computer is partitioned and photo stream works on one side of the partition but not on the other. I disconnected the photo stream on the side that was working, thinking that would help.....but no. Any ideas?

Do NOT Threadjack. Start your own topic please. Help you get in your topic may help others when searching for like topics (your post could be lost in a unrelated topic). If you do not know how to start your own thread...
In order to see the post link, you need to drill down to the subtopic level of a discussion area. If you see a list of subtopics, you are not down far enough.
For example, from the main discussion menu, you can choose Classic iPod and you will see the following...
Note that in the Classic discussion there are three sub-topics you can choose and NO post link yet. Now pick any sub-topic, for example, pick "Using iPod Classic" and you will get the following...
Now you have a link to post a new topic.

  • Apps won't connect until they are opened

    Hi everyone,
I've been having some problems with my push notifications for all my applications (facebook, whatsapp, mail account...) and I just realised that the application only connects and refreshes when I open it. Whatsapp for exemple only connects when I open it and then I start receiving messages, but when it's closed I receive nothing.
Can someone please help me?? it starts to become quite annoying!
    Thanks in advance!

Yes maybe...but I just did not have it! and neither did I have the feature that allow you to control both wallpapers. So maybe I am not using the right words here but I had someone fix that for me and what she did is that she checked those two features in some program that she downloaded.
If someone needs more info on this let me know and I'll ask her!
    Cheers!

  • No HTTP Connection until after multiple reboots.

I seem to lose my HTTP connectivity but FTP seems to work as well as local network connectivity.
After the computer has been on for 24 hours plus and I wake it up from sleep mode I lose the ability to see HTTP traffic (websites).  But I was able to see a pdf from a site (this may have been cached).  When I reboot an unknown app seems to hang
the shutdown and I frequently have to hold the power button to shutdown. When it does reboot I have to shutdown from the "Select User/logon" screen. At this shutdown it goes just fine.  Then finally upon the next restart it will then connect
    to internet websites.
Other computers on my local network seem to connect to the internet just fine.  So it does not seem to be a router issue. I have tried the other users on the computer and they seem to work just fine also.  I have scanned the computer for Viruses
via MacAffee and nothing was detected.  I have ran IPConfig commands (release, renew, etc) and nothing seems to work. I do see the DNS server for my internet provider (Comcast).
I think the failure to shutdown is a clue.  When I worked on the Win 98 a similar issue used to occur because of a network card driver issue.  I have checked my driver for updates and I am running the latest version.
    Summary.
    No website viewing
    Local network seems fine
    Hangs on shutdown
Needs two shutdowns to start working
I have ran ipconfig (renew, release, etc)
I have updated the Driver for the network card
(Wireless or Cat-5 network connection same result)

    Hi,
Firstly, Please check NIC driver properties in Device Manager, Make sure the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" was unchecked.
Secondly please check Event Viewer if it identify this problem.
About Device driver update, If your computer was OEM, it would be better to check update at its official site.
In addition, to fix this problem, please try to use command netsh winsock reset to reset winsock for test.

  • TB will stop downloading emails and won't again until computer is rebooted

This started happening about a month or so ago. TB will be fine and download my email. Then it won't do it anymore. It will act like it is trying but nothing happens. If I close and re-open it, it still will not download. When this happens, the only way that it will do it again is if I reboot my computer. Sometimes it happens daily, sometimes it happens every 2-3 days.
It has nothing to do with my mail server I am downloading from. My hard drive is running lower on space (still has almost 60GB free), but I don't see how that is the problem since it works fine again on reboot. It has happened after compacting, but not all the time. I regularly delete the trash folders.
Has anyone else experienced this or have any thoughts as to what may be causing it? Could it have been something in one of the upgrades?

It could be cache limits. try clear resent history.
If your folders are big remember it reads a lot into memory when you access them. Use local folders and move attachment elsewhere keeping a link instead of the whole file in the mail.

  • Yoga 2 - WIn 8.1 Update Problem!!! Internet explorer "This page won't connect"

Purchased a Yoga 2 13" last week running Windows 8.1
Everything was working fine until today.  I downloaded Firefox.  I'm not sure if that caused the problem.  I uninstalled Firefox and the problem still persists.
I can connect to the internet.  My email and Facebook are working fine.  It is just Internet Explorer that won't connect.
    I have rebooted my modem/router
Deleted the history and cached info for Explorer
I don't see any other settings about maybe working offline.
Any suggestions will be really appreciated.
    Thanks,

It happens on other networks too.
I did a system restore and that solved the problem.  Until the windows update went through again.
It is the update that is causing the problem.
This laptop is less than a week old.  how can I figure out what in the update is causing the problem?

  • I have a 4th generation iPod touch which was working perfectly until I downloaded ios5 and now it won't connect to my wi-fi - all other devices working correctly. Where can I download ios 4.3.5 from?

I have a 4th generation iPod touch which was working perfectly until I downloaded ios5 and now it won't connect to my wi-fi - all other devices working correctly. My pc didn't create a backup before updating software so I can't revert back to ios 4.3.5 from there, where can I download ios 4.3.5 from?

I tried just about everything and finally brought my Ipod touch to the apple store.  The tech installed ios 4.3.5 but still no WIFI.  He recommended a $149 exchange - not really a bad deal with a new battery and 90 day warranty, but I thought I'd try again.
The "solution" was bizarre.  On YouTube was a fix involving taking the motherboard out and heating the wifi components with a heat gun.
I did not like that idea, but another involved turning it off, putting it in the freezer for five minutes and restarting.  It worked!  I must admit the fix does not work reliably, so I may still go for the exchange.  Still, I am now convinced that it is a hardware problem.    i remember back in the old days, TV repairmen sprayed a suspected bad resistor with Freon.  The chilled component would work long enough to identify what needed replacement.  Perhaps something similar is happening here.
For anyone wanting to try this, I found it more convenient to place the back of my ipod on a  frozen cold pack until the wifi is restored.  It seems to happen when condensation forms on the face.  I used a towel to wipe off the moisture so as not to add to the problem.

  • My iPod Touch 2nd generation won't connect to the Internet

After restoring my iPod Touch 2nd gen to factory settings because that's what iTunes advised me to do after doing the iTunes update a week ago, my iPod won't connect to the internet anymore. I was able to connect to our wifi but it won't go to any website, to iTunes, etc. I'm 100% sure the problem isn't our wifi because I'm using it right now with my laptop so it's not the wireless problem. Before restoring my iPod to factory settings iti has always worked and I never had a problem connecting it. I tried restoring it again but it still didn't work. I already also reset our router but still no luck. I wish someone could help me asap!! Thank you.

    You can try:
    - reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

I recently purchased three 32GB iPod Touch's for my children for Christmas.  I'm trying to set them up ready to go, but one of them just won't connect to my wifi.  The other two have no trouble, connected immediately.  Can anyone shed some light on this or do I need to make an appointment at the apple store?  I have tried to reset the network settings, it has made no difference unfortunately.

  • My ipod touch won't connect when plugged into Bose speaker

Whenever I plug my iPod touch into my Bose speaker system, nothing happens. It doesn't say that there is an error or anything. It starts charging just fine but it won't play when it's plugged in.
I know it's not an issue with the iPod's abililty to play music because headphones and the built in speaker work just fine. Other iPods connect fine to that speaker, just not this one. I'm just not sure why it won't connect to the speaker.
