Photo Lab that supports osx

I am looking for an online photo lab to print digital images from iPhoto. So far, I have tried Walmart and Mystic. Walmart's software does not work with OSX (requires Internet Explorer) and the manual approach only allows ordering 2 to 3 prints at a time!
Mystic does not say that they support OSX either. Anyone with success here?
Macmini   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

There may be something that I'm missing here, but its a good discusssion. The part that I don't get is why look for a photo finishing service that is compatable with OX-X when there is a built in function to iPhoto that sends photos to an online print service (which is run by Kodak by the way) and then they mail the prints to your house.
I have some experience with this service, but not a lot. Have placed 2 orders and one of the 2 orders has been delivered already. The second order is on its way. Quality of the prints is just fine. Price per print is 19 cents each, which is the going rate in drugstores etc. I usuall don't print too many copies at once. They add postage and handling which varies with the size of the order but runs about $2.48 for my past 2 orders.
The only downside (for me) is that it takes them nearly 2 weeks and that is just too long. If you have a whole lot of prints or if cost is an issue, then a better unit price is obviously more important. Walmart and Costco have good prices.
Consumer Reports has an Electronics Buying guide out on the newstands right now. It doesn't really have all that much in it, but lo and behold, there is an article that compares price and quality for different photo finishing services on page 55.
To make a long story short, they strongly prefer in store labs that use Fuji equipment. For on line ordering their recomenndations are for Kodak (Kodakgallery.com), Shuttterfly (Shuttterfly.comm), Target Photo Center (Target.com), Yahoo (Yahoo.com) and Webshots (Webshots.com) in that order.
Consuumer Reports says that Walmart is best overall for most people and that most Walmart store use Fuji eqipment and that Walmart has a good price at 19 cents per print. I have personally gone to Walmart stores and used the Fuji systemm in store and got a much better price (I think it was about 14 or 15 cents per print withh next day pickup on an order of 960 prints.
(Never mind why, but it was a special occasion...)
Hope this helps, but I always learn a lot by listening to other peopl oonn hse forums. Got a new digital camera this weekend and will be crnking out a few pics until I get the hand of it better.

Apple provides the driver for that printer and it is supported in Mavericks, so you do not need to downgrade.

  • Selecting Photo's for Photo Lab printing

I have a number of photo's that my family would like to take to the photo lab for professional printing.
I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of the best way this could be done in iPhoto (order prints is not supported in Australia).
I was thinking the best way is to have the family browse the album, when they came across a photo they liked they could rate it, then create a smart folder to find all the photos with that specific rating. Then, I could export the selection to DVD. Anyone got any better tips?

    Eddie,
If you don't already have a photo lab that you regularly use - you might want to take a handful of sample photos to several labs and then compare the results. That way you can entrust your family photos to the BEST lab.
Some labs produce better prints than others. Some do their own 'post processing' (even if you tell them not to) that can affect the outcome of your prints. It's better to spend a few $$ geting samples printed at several labs, then to print your stack of family photos and get unsatisfactory results!
If you are talking about burning to a DVD and not a CD, then I'm assuming you have a HUGE amount of prints to make!

  • Photos does not support external editing like iPhoto. Is there likely to be an upgrade to change this or will I abandon Photos for software that does support editing in Photoshop?

iPhoto does work and there is an upgrade:
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

If you place in Muse - an image with either height or width larger than 2048 pixels - Muse scales the image down proportionately, limiting the larger dimension to 2048.
However, if you want to use the placed image at its original size, you can scale the image up to desired size either by dragging the resizing handles or by entering Height and Width values in the Control Strip on top. After that, go to the Assets panel and locate the image in there, then right click that image in Assets panel and choose "Import Larger Size". That would bring back the lost image information from the original image.
Hope this gives you clarity on what you wanted to know.

  • Has Apple done anything to address the issue of Mountain Lion's inability to support Epson printers? I have a Stylus Photo RX620 that now is useless. I am not a computer geek so would rather not try to do an uninstall of Mt. Lion and go back to S.Leopard

Have you tried to open System Preferences, then Print & Scan and then try to Add + a printer?
I have an Epson RX580 and am using OS X 10.8.2 and it is working as a (Bonjour) printer.  My Epson RX580 is plugged into my AirPort Extreme and I can print over my wireless network to the RX580.  However, I do not see any Scan options with this setup.
Anyone know anything about getting the scanning portion of the RX580 to work over the network like the printing function does with my Airport Extreme?  Or can I not "share" a scanner over the USB port on the Airport Extreme?  I know, kind on topic/off topic - but I think it fits under OS questions better.
    Thanks for your advice!

Thanks Larry. That certainly gives me some understanding. Can't imagine I'm the only Aperture user with that concern, so I certainly hope Adobe and others will fill the void. Without that feature, Photos is pretty much a non-started for me.

Help, i am trying to print my JPEG file that i created in photoshop at a photo lab but it is coming out like an X-ray. I have printed these files before so i have no idea what i am doing wrong.
Could it be something i have done in my settings?
or when i am saving the file to JPEG?

Basically you're approaching this the wrong way around. What you need is the extreme sections to be quieter, not louder. The problem with moving the lower end of the audio is that you'll move the noise floor too, and get what's generally referred to as a 'pumping' effect. So what you do is to use a compressor to tame the peaks, and leave the lower level sound alone. When you've done that, you amplify (or normalize to a level you can determine) the whole signal. So the noise floor will be higher, but constant and not pumping. 'Match Volume' is a completely different tool for setting the overall levels of different tracks so that they sound approximately the same - it doesn't even begin to do what you want.
If it's music you are treating, then I'd almost certainly use the multiband compressor, because you get less artefacts with this. You need to experiment with the threshold levels, and almost certainly not use a massive compression ratio - 3:1 or 4:1 should be sufficient (although it's hard to tell without actually hearing the audio). You can tell what it's doing at any given point because the downward meter indicates how hard it's working. In theory you can apply make-up gain with it as well, but personally I leave that until everything's treated and use the 'Normalize' tool to set an absolute max level.

    Hi,
Please talk with eFax people, because:
Do I need to purchase any special equipment?
With eFax online fax service, all you need is Internet access, an email address and an eFax account. There’s no need for special hardware or software, bulky fax machines or extra phone lines.

I have a dual boot lab that I set up for a school.  The partitions consist of Mountain Lion OSX and Windows 7 Ent.  I use bootpicker software for choosing the operating system at startup.  When I select the windows partition, it take just under 2 minutes from selection to the windows login screen.  It seems to take incredibly long for the mac to "shut down and hand over the operating system to windows.
Do you have any suggestions on how to get this timing faster?
    Thanks for any ideas/input

The only suggestion I can make is to look ar ReFind (previuosly ReFit). Startup mamangement is one of its features.
    But
It is very powerful so test it for yourself before deploying it. Some of the functions are best kept out of the hands of the curious, or 'playful'
And you never answered this question.
Tell me what the needs are, do the users always need to choose Windows or is this a variable?

  • Hi; i created a poster from pages, how do i save it to have it printed by a photo lab?

    Hello;
Can documents and posters with photos and text created in pages be printed by a photo lab, or is it only on my own printer?
I can save my document onto a USB flash drive, but then will the photo lab be able to open it to print?
do you know how to save the document properly so that the printer can open it?
