Photo Library Not Syncing in iOS 4.1

Hi,
Ever since I installed iOS4.0/4.01/4.1, I lost the ability to sync my photos on the computer (MAC running OS 10.6.4 with iTunes 10) with my iPhone 3GS.
I used to be able to do so in 3.1.3.
Anyone having the same problem? Any solution?
Thanks,

I was having this same issue with +iOS 4.1+, but using an older +PPC Mac+ running +Tiger 10.4.11+. My iTunes version is 9.2 and it exhibits the same behavior.
It seems that the iTunes interface for syncing photos is a *red herring*.
Look at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
Apple seems to now want to force us into using iPhoto for accessing photos on the iPhone, iPad, and +iPod Touch+...

iCloud photo library and syncing (not all photos)
I seem to have an issue with iCloud photo in that on my iPhone I have 2,224 photos, on my iPad it shows I have 2,211 photos and on my Mac it shows I have 2,209 photos And on icloud photo library on the web show 2,270 photos. For some reason all the photos on iCloud Photo Library are not getting sync'd to the other devices. On the bright side all my videos are sync'do across all devices properly!
Anyone know how I can resolve this issue?
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.
I realize that this is the iTunes forum. I'm using iTunes to sync my iPhone so it seems the right place. I've also cross posted in the iPhone Forum.

  • ICloud Photo Library not syncing on Mac

I am running OS X 10.10.3 (14D136) and turned on iCloud Photo Library over a week ago. It is stuck uploading on 2,033 originals to go. It has done 3000 already, but has been on this number for several days. I also have an iPhone 6 and iPad. New photos I am taking on my iPhone are not appearing in the All Photos section of OS X Photos.
Why has it stopped syncing - any ideas?
I have restarted, done a safe boot, repaired permissions, and logged out/in of iCloud.
    Thanks

I found a solution that worked for me.....It seems there were some pictures that were blocking others...
First pause the sync process in Photos Preferences.
To detect the corrupted pictures I created a 'Smart Album" with the conditions: Picture is referenced. Photos found all the pictures that lost there original ' reference' file. In my case there were only three.
I looked up these pictures in my iPhoto Backup (last backup before I switched to photos). This to be certain I still have the originals.
I deleted the corrupt pictures from my Photos Library and emptied the 'recently deleted' folder. This to make sure the corrupted files we completely removed from the library (Photos app also uploads 'recently removed' pictures...).
Then I proceeded the syncing process in Photos Preferences.
After it was finished I tried if modifications I made in Photos OSX came through on my iDevices. They did on my iPad, but not on my iPhone. So I turned off iCloud Photos on my iPhone (preferences). And after all pictures were removed I rebooted my iPhone and turned iCloud Photos back on. Then all Devices were in sync!
Finally I exported the pictures that were corrupted from my iPhoto backup and imported them into Photos.

  • Photos will not sync across devices in iOS 8.1

I have iOS 8.1.1 on both my iPad and my iPhone 5. After installing the new iOS and selecting 'iCloud Photo Library (Beta)' on both devices, the 'my photo stream' folder has disappeared and photos will not sync across devices. Everything was fine prior to installing the new iOS. Can anyone help me to fix this? Thank you!

    Hi sueb21,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
If you are using iCloud Photo Library Beta there are some differences from what you may be use to. Please read over the attached article for information on how your pictures are now organized and for how you can turn it off if you choose to do so.
iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support
What happened to the My Photo Stream and Camera Roll albums?
The Camera Roll and My Photo Stream album are replaced with an All Photos album, which gives you the same compact scroll view, now with all your photos and videos organized by the date they were added. Learn more about finding photos in iOS 8.
After you enable iCloud Photo Library, all your original photos and videos are organized in one library. My Photo Stream will upload recent photos to share with your other devices, but iCloud Photo Library stores your originals. See how to upload originals below.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

I had the same thing happen to me.  It's a bug in iPhoto 9.4.2.
The first time you run iPhoto after upgrading to iPhoto 9.4.2, it "updates the iPhoto library".  This sometimes tickles a bug where iTunes can see all your iPhoto albums, but iTunes thinks they are empty.  Since iTunes thinks all your albums are empty, it dutifully deletes any photos from your synced iOS devices.
It's easy to tell if this is the problem you are seeing.  Open iTunes and go to the photos sync panel for one of your iOS devices.  If you have multiple albums checked, but iTunes shows a total of 0 photos, then you have the problem.
I spent an hour with an Apple Genius.  he couldn't find any mention of this problem in their internal support system.  His recomendation was to reinstall the operating the system.  I suspect that this won't solve it.
The only solution I have found is to restore iPhoto 9.4.1 and the corresponding iPhoto library from your backups.
I would refrain from upgrading to iPhoto 9.4.2 until Apple has a fix for this issue.

  • Photos will not sync on iTunes 11

Plugging in the latest iPad with the latest iTunes, select the folder of new photos I want on my iPad and hey presto, nothing.
ITunes does freeze quit a bit and says that it has performed the sync, but nothing on the iPad.  ITunes 10 did this with no problems, since the update to 11 I can't sync photos using a 32 bit Windows 7 Home Premium.
The other annoying thing is that it gets into iTunes screen and there is no icon to get into the iPad.  The userbility of iTunes 11 is awfull and not Mac typical at all.  What moron allowed this rubbish to be released?  iTunes 11 is as buggy as **** with userbility issues.

You may find the following steps make iTunes 11 more bearable
    1) Ctrl + B to turn on the top menu
    2) View > Show Sidebar to turn on left panel showing Library, Devices, Playlists etc
    3) View > Show Status Bar to see song info at the bottom in grey bar
    4) Click on arrow in Search Box and untick Search Entire Library -  this will increase performance and revert Search to the way it worked in iTunes 10
Photos do not sync to PC via itunes instead your Photo Application, Elements or whatever should fire up and import them. Do you need to check your import seetings in whatever app you use?

  • Windows 7 Photo Stream not syncing after iCloud 3.0

HELP!  I am a relatively new to the IPhone community.  My husband bought me one for Christmas 2013.  I have the IPhone 5s .  Like many users, I want to be able to back up the pictures I take and or receive on my phone to my computer.  I have a Dell laptop running on Windows 7.  I downloaded iCloud 3.0 and have the checked off the box next to Photos.  I also have Photos turned on in the ICloud settings on my phone.  I experienced this problem back in April, where my photos were not syncing to my computer. I contacted Apple Support, and he ran several tests.  I took a couple of pictures, and they started syncing.  While I was not able to get all of my photos, I had the majority of them and I figured the problem was solved and would continue to sync from there on out.
I just checked this past weekend and saw none of my recent photos were there.  I proceeded to google the subject, tried deleting the ICloud control panel and redownloaded it, and then forced a backup on my phone.  It only backed up 87 of the 517 photos I have in my Photo Stream.  I tried these trouble shooting options below but once again, only have 90 of the 517 photos I have:
    1. Open Task Manager (ctrl, alt and delete) and end ApplePhotoStream.exe and AppltPhotoStreamDownloader.exe if they’re running.
    2. Go to your Users folder and navigate to the following path: C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MediaStream\
    3. Delete everything in that folder.
These files are a local cache of what has already been synced but it appears to get stuck so deleting these files forces it to resync again from scratch.
    4. Open iCloud Control Panel and make sure “Photos” are checked.
The above steps force re-downloading of images after any stuck point. It should make sure that your newer images are downloaded.
My husband has an IPhone as well, and his photos sync no problem to his IPad.  I am assuming this works better since they are both Apple Products.  Can someone please help me resolve this issue as I would like to be able to get my photos on my computer so I can delete some of them off my phone?

If the missing photos were added to photo stream more than 30 days ago they are no longer in iCloud (although they may still be on your your phone).  In that case, to get the older photos to stream to your computer you can add them to a shared stream on your phone (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e99).  (Note: when creating the shared stream, you don't have to invite any subscribers.  As the owner of the shared stream you are automatically subscribed to it; just skip that step.)  Another option is to save them to the camera roll on the phone and import them to your computer using your usb cable, as explained here: iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer.

  • Photo stream not syncing

so i have a iphone 4s a ipad2, apple tv and i have recently downloaded icloud for pc. My problem is that my photos are not syncing to each device. they all have different images under photostream although they are logged in under the same icloud account. The main pictures are taken from my iphone so what i have done is copied the images from the camera roll on my iphone and copied them into the photostream folder in the icloud software on my pc. when i then turn the photostream software back on on my ipad it only brings back a few clipart images that were saved locally on the ipad months ago from a colouring app.
on the applt tv it is the same thing it will only bring in a few images but these are not the same as what opens on the ipad they are from my phone but only a few. also since i copied the pics from the camera roll on my phone the photostream on my phone has reduced in size also but nothing like the ipad or apple tv
    any help would be appreciated

Here's a little more detail on what happens.  When you take a photo on your phone it's saved to the camera roll.  When the photo app is closed, you are connected to wifi and your phone has at least 20% battery life remaining, it will then upload to photo stream in iCloud.  Once there, iCloud will stream a "device optimized" copy of the photo to your iOS devices and Apple TV, and a full resolution copy to your computer.  Once on your devces, a rolling collection of up to 1000 photos will remain on your devices until deleted.  However, they only stay in iCloud for 30 days (even though they remain on any device that has already received them).  Because of this, when you connect a new device to your photo stream, it downloads all the photo stream photos still in iCloud; which are only the phtoos from the last 30 days.  This creates a situation where you may have old photo stream photos on your phone than the ones you have on other devices, which were connect to your photo stream at a later date.
To get these older photos to appear on your other iOS devices, you can add them to a shared photo stream and invite yourself.  To get them to your PC, save them to your camera roll (tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll), then import them using your usb cable as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

  • Photos do not sync

I have taken a lot of pictures with my iPhone. Lately when I sync these thru iTunes to my iPad, some will not sync ' because they cannot be displayed on your iPad'. I am not sure what the problem is as it would seem that the format of the iPhone and iPad would be the same. I have a iPhone 4, Original iPad, OS X 10.6.7 Snow Leopard running on a MacBook Pro.  I cannot say for sure when this all started, only that some photos will not sync over. This may not be the correct discussion to post, but one has to start somewhere.
    thanks to all

    Hey Louise,
Do the full resolution pictures show up correctly in iPhoto?
Try creating another iPhoto Library by renaming the iPhoto library folder or holding Option when you launch iPhoto> choose Create Library. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iPhoto/6.0/en/hlp156.html
After creating the new test library, import the pictures from the desktop into iPhoto and try to sync again.
You can always go back to the old photo library by launching iPhoto holding Option and Choosing the library. The default photo library location is ~/Pictures/iPhoto Library.
If it works from there there may be an issue with the iPhoto library that can be resolved by a rebuild.

  • Is there a way to use iCloud Photo Library WITHOUT syncing?

The idea I had of iCloud Photo Library was that I could upload my pictures to it and access them from all my devices WITHOUT having to sync them.
At the end of every month, I move all the photos from my phone to my computer. It helps me save space and keep things tidy. With iCloud Library, I want to access all my photos, but it looks like I must sync them through iCloud, and then to save space in my phone, I have to select "optimise space for iPhone". Is there any way to use iCloud Photo Library as a mere cloud storage? I don't want to keep photos on my phone, neither full resolution or "optimised" ones. I want to put them on iCloud, and when I need them, then I want my phone to download them.
I realise I could use other cloud storage providers for this, but I have always liked Apple's integration with their own services, so if possible, I would like to use iCloud Photo Library without syncing to my devices. Just keep my stuff in iCloud, and when I tap it, download it.

    www.icloud.com.
Doesn't work well in IE8 (9 I would think is ok), but is fine in the current version of Chrome.

  • Address Book Contact Photos will not sync over to iPhone 2G

So here is the deal. I just bought a new 21.5" iMac w/ Snow Leopard. I had a iMac G5 with Leopard previously and rather than using migration assistant, i just copied over the applicable folders and files (per my research) so that my contacts would be present on the new computer. Everything seems fine except the contact photos will not sync over to my iPhone. Has anyone run across this? Help is greatly appreciated!
    Cheers

  • Photo Library Not Found

I was trying to free up some space on my internal HD yesterday; I did trash what I thought were just contents from the iPhoto library. Today I get a message "Photo Library Not Found" when I attempt to open iPhoto.
In reading past posts here, there is a reference to "standard recovery procedure."
Can someone tell me what that is or what thread I might look at that will tell me the best way to proceed here?
I sure hate to think I've lost all my photos.
    Thanks

You will get Time Machine with 10.5, but you can also purchase excellent back up apps like Chronosync, DejaVu without using 10.5. Also, if you purchase another external HD you can run your iPhoto (and your iTunes) from there, so freeing up space on your internal.
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
