Photo Library pics duplicated?

Can someone explain why I always have 2 sets of the same photos on my iphone? If I understand correctly, the photo library will always show the same photos that I choose to sync in itunes, correct? but why? It is annoying to see 2 of the same

Although it appears that way, the photos are not duplicated or taking up double the storage space.
All photos transferred to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process are stored in your iPhone's Photo Library regardless how many different albums or folders that contain photos are selected to be transferred to your iPhone. I have multiple iPhoto albums selected to be transferred to my iPhone and this provides for being able to view the photos in an album or folder only by selecting the album or folder under Photo Library, or view all photos in all albums or folders by selecting Photo Library.
The photos aren't duplicated. Photos in an album or folder include a link or pointer to the original photo that is stored in the iPhone's Photo Library.
It is the same with iTunes and music playlists. You can listen to the music in a playlist only by selecting the playlist, or all music in all playlists and in your iTunes library by selecting Music. Songs in an iTunes playlist are not duplicated, and photos in an album or folder transferred to your iPhone are not duplicated.

Since my last update to iOS6.0 I'm having problem with pics in the Photo Library where all pictures have been duplicated
and also most of the pics that wrere sitting in my Mamera Roll have been deleted!
Any way to fix both problems? How can I get back the missing pics in My Camera Roll?

Well....I was sure to get some help from the many geniouses of the board but....
as DUMMY AS I AM, I managed to come up with the solution that I love to share with other
people with same sort of inconvenience.
I used iTunes, in Photos I went to SYNC, but I deleted the all photos (prompt by system) and after I rechecked the SYNC square and I upload the ALL FOLDERS including the new folder I had set up for testing.
It DID WORK. So...if you have similar problem....find the solution weetwen yourself.
I'm definately not a computer wizard...but with creativity I managed to solve this problem.
PS - My post was up for 12 hrs and strangely NO ONE had some advice for me ?!
I'm a bit disappointed ....but...happy for the found solution!!!!

IPad Photo library pics not on MAC

At my wits end with this! Photo library using 1.6GB of info on my Ipad. Trying to delete pics from IPad but when I try to sync with ITunes to delete them - the pics don't show up as being on my IPad or in ITunes. These pictures were all originally imported to my IPad from a camera. They are safely tucked away on my computer in a separate folder in MY PICTURES so I no longer need them on my Ipad. How do I get the darn things off my IPad to free up much needed space? Thanks.

Well like I said, the photos will not show up in iTunes because that's not how it works, but are the photos actually still on the iPad?
Did you try using the second method that I described? Open the album and tap on the edit button, select the photos that you want to delete and then tap the red delete button?
Have you considered importing the photos again and when given the option to delete the photos from the iPad, choose that option and delete them? I'm not sure how it works on a PC, but when you import photos on a Mac, you have the option to delete them from the device after importing them. You can always delete that new picture folder on the PC after you import them again.

Deleting Photo Library Pics from iPhone 3g.

I downloaded 6 pictures onto my iPhone through itunes and they were stored in the Photo Library on my phone. I want to get them off of my phone, so I looked at the other questions posted on here and they said to remove the pictures from the folder that itunes synched with. I did that and now itunes doesn't show that folder anymore as syncing to it, but the pictures are still on my phone. Can anyone help? Thanks!

For some reason the folder re-appeared and I was able to move them to a new folder.

I Deleting "photo library" pics?

Don't see a trash can/delete icon when I select pictures. Need to make space on phone for system updates....anypne know how to rid the phone of these pictures?

Find the photos on your computer. Either delete them there and then sync, or instruct iTunes on your computer not to sync those photos, then sync.

Can delete photos from 'Camera roll' but not 'Photo Library'

Please excuse my ignorance in advance! I needed to delete some photos as I couldn't download any apps or take any more photos until I freed some space (not sure why as according to itunes I have nearly 2GB free). I recently updated iphone software and now have 2 photo albums on my phone. I deleted most of the photos on my camera roll but noticed that the new album 'Photo library' which was created when I updated the software still has all the original photos in it. I went into to it to delete them but for some reason there is no delete icon for any of these photos. Please note these are all photos taken using the iphone itself. I have never synced photos from my computer to my iphone so I can't delete them by syncing with a folder on my PC. I back up the photos by copying them manually using windows.
I would really appreciate any help as I don't want to run out of space of my iphone again especially if it is due to unnecessary duplication of seemingly undeletable photos!

You cannot delete photo library pics from the iphone.
You delete them the same way you got them there in the first place. The sync process.
Deselect the photo album/folder under the photos tab in itunes, then sync.

How do I delete a photo library or at least the photos in the Photo Library folder? the do not show up in the camera roll and there is no delte method within the library section of the app.

To that end, I would also like to know how to go back and delete all the photos under CAMERA ROLL...
... what I'm looking at is to simply keep a few ALBUMS that I have synced back onto the iPhone from iPhoto.

You delete photo library pics the same way you put them there. The sync process. Deselect them in itunes and sync.
Camera roll photos can be deleted one at a time from the iphone or all at once when you import them.

Well I'll guess you're using iPhoto 11:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

What haven't you backed them up? You should always have a back up of any important material on your Mac. Make one now:
Most Simple Back Up
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex:
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate
What version of iPhoto do you have?

Icloud photo library won't work unless connected to wifi. If I am trying to attach a pic to a message or email, I get the error "photo can't be downloaded from iphoto library, please try later." If I connect to wifi it works just fine.

If it's truly "storing" a low res version on my phone it shouldn't have to download anything. I can understand the uploading of pics to library only being done over wifi, but there are plenty of times I'm going to want to send a pic when I'm not going to be near a network. It does work occasionally, but the norm is that I get the error.

There is issue with Windows 7 when you send the email. It gives the message you specified.
But you can always use Adobe Email client to send your images. In this workflow also you would get the error message but you can ignore it and continue to send the mail.

Photos duplicated in Photo Library

Ater syncing to a second computer, all photos were duplicated within the Photo Library directory - all 3,125 of them - whilst also remaining within their original directories.
No matter which directories I add/remove when syncing, these same 3125 photos remain in the Photo Library directory, nothing added or subtracted in subsequent syncs.
Any ideas how to delete these duplicates? No option available within iTunes, near as I can tell...

If you want to just remove them form youriPhone or iPad then click on your device at top right and select the photos tab. You can then choose which photos sync out to your device in terms of Albums, Events or faces.
If you want to control which pictures share to your Apple TV then in itunes File, Home Sharing, Choose files to share with Apple Tv
If you remove them completly from everywhere then delete within the source app. Most commonly iPhoto or Aperture on a mac.

IPhone photo library shows black, but it shows the number of pics in it

I have a problem with Photo Library on my iphone4.
It shows the number of photos contained in the Library, but when I choose the folder, it shows black.
This happened after iTunes automatically synced with my iPhone without my wish or knowledge. During the sync, I saw it started deleting images, so I immediately stopped it. But maybe it was too late???
The reason I have my pics in the library was that I had to empty my pictures folder on my PC, so I moved my pics to my iPhone. I guess that was a mistake...
Does anyone know if there is any way for me to be able to see my photos again?

They could be gone unfortunately. You might try quitting the photos app then starting it again.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.
If that doesn't work try quitting it again but reset your iPad before restarting the Photos app.
Quit your Photos app like I describe above but do not restart it. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

Photo library has two albums with same pics.

Hey guys, I am having a problem... not really a problem but an annoyance. I have two photo albums on my Ipod touch 4g with the same pictures. I have tried to restore, resynch, anything I could think of too only have one but no5hint worked. What I mean is when I open photos it goes to albums which shows Camera Roll, Photo Library, and My Pictures. The problem is Photo Library and My Pictures have the same exact pictures. How do I get rid of one so Its just like Camera Roll and Photo Library. Thanks for any help.

You cannot.
This is how Apple handles photos.
ALL photos sycned to the iphone will be in Photo library. You can access those exact same photos from the folders/albums thta you chose to sync. Just as one song can be accessed from itunes library and a playlist, the one pic can be accessed from Photos library and the album.
