Photo library preview application to save photos

What is, how do I use "iphoto library preview application to save photos?
I made an error with my external hard drive while disconnectiong it.
I cannot access the iphoto library on that drive.
Can you help?
Larry

There is no iPhoto library preview program
What exactly did you do? What exactly is the problem? What version of iPhoto do you have? Is OS X 10.4.10 the correct version of your OS as you report in your profile?
Try Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto database

  • ICloud Photo Library: How do I transfer photos and videos only from my iPhone to my iPad but not from my iPad to my iPhone?

I had iCloud photo libraey turned on on both my iPad and iPhone. As said by the feature, photos and videos were being transferred automatically from each device to each other. I have a 64GB iPad Air 2 and my iPhone 5 only has 16GB of storage so I am lacking much more space on my iPhone than my iPad. I was wondering if there was a way to transfer photos only from my iPhone to my iPad but not from my iPad to my iPhone. Would turning off iCloud Photo library on my iPad do the trick? Thanks hope someone can help me out.

iCloud Photo Library keeps all of your photos in the Cloud which you then can selectively download. So, unless you download the iPad photos, they are not going to be taking up any room on your iPhone:
How does iCloud Photo Library save space on my device?
If you turn on Optimize [device] Storage, iCloud Photo Library will automatically manage the size of your library on your iOS device, so you can make the most of your device's storage and access more photos than ever. iCloud Photo Library stores the original, high-resolution photos and videos in iCloud and can keep lightweight, device-optimized versions on each of your devices. As long as you have enough storage, recent photos and videos that you access the most will stay on your device at full resolution.
You can turn on Optimize [device] Storage from Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera > iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. You need an Internet connection to access an original photo or video that’s stored only in iCloud.

  • As soon as I open a photo with Preview part of the photo turns black

As soon as I open a photo with Preview, part of the photo turns black.  Just started doing this.

Complain to the Attorney General about what? There is nothing in your story worth any such complaint. They will tell you the same.
First you have payment difficulty so credit and the Edge program are not available to you. You have to be credit worthy to get any upgrade, unless you can pay full price for all those new devices.
    Can you?
You are trying to get new contract plans, but since you are having paying on time and in full issues you will not get extended credit from any carrier.
What I would do is go and port out to Boost or Virgin Mobile where you pay a reduced cost for each device and get unlimited everything for $40 to $50 a month, it is pre pay so if you don't pay you get cut off.
Verizon although with the best coverage is also the highest priced.
    Good Luck

hello , i want to add a folder of photo to my iphon from my comp. i select that folder in itune and sync with my iphone . but i have 2 folder in my iphone .
1-in name of the folder 2-in name of photo library.how i can delete photo library from my iphone but i still have my photo folder?

You can't delete the Photo Library. The iPhone stores photos the same way iPhoto does on a Mac. All photos are synced to your Photo Library. The various albums/folders merely contain pointers to the actual photos which are in your Photo Library, they are not duplicates.

  • ICloud Photo Library won't sync all photos

I've enabled iCloud Photo Library on my Macs & iOS devices... and have noticed that all my photos are not being sync'ed to iCloud... and the ones in iCloud are not being sync'ed to all my devices. (I'm running Mac OS X 10.10.3 on the Macs and iOS 8.3 on the iPad/iPhone.)
In my master Library on my iMac, I have 20,233 Photos and 344 Videos. According to the Photos app, all have been uploaded to iCloud.
However, according to iCloud - only about half of those photos are uploaded.
(I have plenty of storage on iCloud... I have paid for 200GB and am only using about 40GB.)
On my Macbook - I started the Photos app with an empty photo library, and then turned on iCloud Photo Library. On that computer, it reports a different number of photos - 9,923 photos. And, it too is supposedly "updated completely"
When I browse the Photos on an iOS device, it's about the same as the MacBook - but not exactly.
Anyone have any ideas here? I would expect all the photos from the iMac to show up on all devices.
Is there a log file somewhere I can examine to understand what is being uploaded and what isn't?
    Thanks!

I managed to fix the problem articulated above. I think only photos that are copied into your Photos Library can be synced via iCloud. And, the approximately ~10,000 photos missing from iCloud were not in my Library.
On the iMac Photos Library, I selected all the photos (Cmd-A) and choose File->Consolidate from the menu... and this popup emerges:
I clicked "Copy" which apparently copies all the original images from my Pictures folder into the iCloud Library itself. Once this was done ... it uploaded missing files. Now - on all my devices I see the exact same number of photos and videos.

Same way they got on your phone, through the iTunes sync process. With your phone connected, iTunes running, under the "Photos" tab, deselect the albums/folders/photos you do not want on your phone. Hit the "Apply/Sync" button & they will be removed from your phone.

  • HT204655 Can you use the new photos library for iPhoto to save space

I want to use the same library for photos and iPhoto because that way it will use a fraction of the space. Is that possible.

When you open the iPhoto library with Photos for the first time it will convert it to a Photos library.  However, there is not a duplication of files or lost space on the HD. This is because the Photos library uses hard links to the original files in the iPhoto Library thus not duplicating files or taking up more space on the HD even though it may see so in the Finder.
I suggest you keep the iPhoto application and library until you're sure the Photos app and library will suit your needs.  Photos is missing many features that iPhoto has which many of rely on heavily.  You may find that Photos isn't for you right now and you want to continue using iPhoto until those missing features are restored.

  • ICloud Photo Library: How to prevent some photos from being uploaded/synced?

When iCloud Photo Library is on, every photo will be auto-uploaded and synced to all linked devices/computers, is there any way to specify which ones not to be uploaded? I know I can 'hide' photos so they won't appear in 'All photos', but they are still accessable from Albums.

No you can't be selective with what gets uploaded to the cloud. You might consider having a second library for photos you don't want in the cloud.

  • Does iCloud photo Library just duplicates my iCloud photos Backup? or uses the same copy?

    Hi,
So i want to enable both iCloud backup AND Photo Library. But, i was wondering, how will it be held?
After turning on the iCloud Photo Library, will the photos in the Backup get deleted? or it uses them and share them between the two services?
Or it just upload all the photos again and i'll have two copies of my photos in my iCloud?

  • 'Photo Library' vs. 'My iPhone photos'

When I sync my pictures, it appears both in Photo Library and as the synced folder - is there any way to avoid this?

    In a word, no.
All photos transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync process are stored in the Photo Library. If you transfer multiple folders or albums of photos, the photos in the folders or albums are not duplicated. The photos in the folders or albums include a pointer to the original photos stored in the Photo Library. This way you can view the photos in a folder or album only by selecting the folder or album, or you can view all photos available in all folders or albums by selecting Photo Library. This does not make as much sense when transferring a single folder or albums of photos, but you cannot avoid this and no harm done since the photos are not duplicated as in taking up double the storage space.
This is no different from an iTunes playlist, an iPhoto album, or an Address Book Group. Music placed in an iTunes playlist is not duplicated. The same for a photo placed in an iPhoto album, or a contact placed in an Address Book Group. A song cannot be in an iTunes playlist unless the song is in the main iTunes library, a photo cannot be in an iPhoto album unless it is in the main iPhoto library, an a contact cannot be in an Address Book Group unless the contact is in the main Address Book database.

  • Syncing photo's from iphoto adds another 'photo library' without deleting 'camera roll' photo

    Hi there,
I found that I can add photo's (without deleting my existing camera roll) to my Iphone 4 from my girlfriends mac to my iphone by syncing from iphoto and selecting the photo events or folder I want. Then pressing 'apply' adds a new photo library to my phone with these selected pics in them. In this cercumstance I can only delete these photos using the same process by de-selecting them in 'sync from iphoto' and again pressing 'apply' There is no function / icon in my actual iphone to delete this library or even individual photo.
However when I try this exact same process on my girlfriends Iphone 4 (same model) the 'apply' function threatens to delete all photos from her phone, leaving her with ONLY the ones selected / checked.
Just in case it is part of explaining this I have tried this logged in on my account and hers but both have the same results in every combination. There appear to be two different set of rules going on here within I-tunes I would prefer to be able to add photo's without deleting existing ones but I would also like to be able to selectively delete these photo's once on my phone without going back to connect to tha mac.
Can anyone explain if this is possible or am I asking for 'my cake AND eat it' ?
Why are ther differences in our phones governing rules in Itunes?

Thanks Winston, you are correct "sync". In fact I found the answer in a slightly different way. There is a check-box in the photo's tab that provides for syncing photo's before any media. Therefore this will in fact create the necessary space on the ATV for the photo's by moving other media content from syncing to streaming.
Of course the alternative, as you point out is to limit what actually gets synced in custom sync.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
    Regards

  • When I now open I Photo it asks "What photo Library do you want i photo to use?  Never did this before.

What happened?  I have beed using iphoto to download scanned photos - all of a suddent it asks, "What photo lib do you want i photo to use?"   Never had to do this before and nothing is available to choose?  Where did the old lib go?

I have the same issue with the Library of a friend. All of the sudden appeared the same message "What photo library...?" He chose the one already used and now doesn't appear the latest photos he has already added and edited. As far as I know, he hasn't deleted any other library. Neither Time Machine has a backuo of the latest photos. Weird stuff.

  • ICloud Photo Library Beta Resolution of Video/Photo

My understanding was that photos that were uploaded from my iOS device to iCloud Photo Library would be stored in iCloud at their original resolution. So far this does not appear to be the case as a video I shot with the back camera on my iPhone 5 (1920x1080) was uploaded to iCloud, but when I downloaded it to my computer using the web interface it would only download at 1280x720. Is this a restriction of the beta, or is this the way it is supposed to work? I cannot find any information on this. Thanks!

  • Photo library doesn't show some photos

    Hi!
I have a little problem with my photo library. If I go to Settings -> General -> Information, I can see that my iPhone has 537 photos.
If I launch the Photo app and I go to the only one Library ("Carrete" in spanish), appears "537 Photos, 17 Videos".
If I scroll up the screen I can see the latest photos but there is a moment that the thumbnails are lost and I only can see a black space. If I continue scrolling up, the black space goes to the begining of the libray.
If I press on the black space, the photo appers and if I scroll right and left I can see the rest of photos, but no thumbnail.
    I have iOS 4.1...
    What should I do?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hello,
The problem you are describing is caused by a corrupt thumbnail cache. I've seen a lot of reports experiencing this after updating to iOS 4.1.
Follow the instructions listed on this blog post to delete the thumnail cache and force your phone to regenerate it.
    http://www.internetbestsecrets.com/2010/09/how-to-fix-iphone-black-photo-gallery .html
Make sure to reboot the device after you've followed the procedure to delete the cache. Let me know if you run into any problems.
