Photo location?

Hi, simple question but I can't figure out the answer.
Normal workflow is to take photos, attach the camera to the Mac, have aperture "import" the photos. All is good. But I want to find the location on disk at which a photo is stored. In aperture selecting the "file" menu has a "show in finder" command but it is grayed out. Likewise is I select "manage referenced files" is says "no referenced files". Any ideas? Thanks.

Yeah, I'd REALLY like an answer to this one as well!
I used to use iPhoto to manage my photos, ACR/Photoshop to do all my editing. Now I've switched to Aperture and I'm find my workflow severely hampered. 9 times out of 10 I don't want to do any editing in my photo management app - I want to sort through, find a photo and open the RAW original with ACR. In iPhoto, I general did a right-click, 'Show In FInder' and double-click on the revealed file name. Now, it seems I'm forced to send a PSD or TIFF straight to Photoshop. Me no likey.
I guess I'm warming up to the idea of treating Aperture as a new ACR but it doesn't seem to have all the functionality that I'd like - well, conventions I'm so used to anyway. Has anyone made this paradigm shift comfortably? Or has anyone come up with a streamlined way to get the RAW file over to ACR for editing in Photoshop?

  • How do I copy photos from a text message to my "Photos" location on my iPhone 5s?

My friends send me photos via text messaging and I try to copy them to my "photos" location on my iPhone 5s. So far, I've only been able to create a folder for the photos but have had no luck in copying photos from iPhone text messages to iPhone "Photos" location. My computer OS is Windows XP Pro 64 bit, the most unsupported OS on the planet....even by Microsoft.

Your are welcome. Glad you got that sorted out. If you want to know about the new features in iOS 7, you can download the user manual here,http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf, you can open it in your iBooks as well.

  • Where are my photos located if I use LR CC.  What is stored in the Cloud?

Where are my photos located if I use LR CC.  What is stored in the Cloud?

With the desktop version of Lightroom CC, nothing is stored in the cloud, nothing can be accessed directly by Lightroom in the cloud, and the Lightroom CC program is installed locally on your computer. The creative cloud is used as a delivery system to provide you with updates and to validate that you are keeping your creative cloud account current. If you decide to do so, you can create collections of your images and share them in the cloud. And if you have a supported mobile device you can install Lightroom Mobile on that device and work on those images that have been shared in the cloud. But basic operation of Lightroom CC is no different than it has ever been.

  • Freeze on "Import from Catalog" at "Checking photo locations"

    Hi there,
Before going away, I exported a LR catalog with a subset of my images from my desktop machine onto my laptop. I added additional images to that laptop catalog while I was away, and now want to re-import them into my desktop machine catalog.
    Steps taken:
    1) Copy catalog from laptop, with all supporting files and the image files, to desktop machine.
    2) Open that catalog on the desktop machine, confirm that it can access and read its own images.
    3) Open primary catalog on desktop machine.
    4) Select "Import from Catalog" under the "File" menu.
    Problem:
Rapidly makes duplicate copy of the catalog, then moves on to say "Preparing to Import from Catalog: Checking photo locations". It rapidly moves up to about 35% of the progress bar complete, then hangs there and does not progress no matter how long I wait (i.e. even leaving it sitting there overnight)
    Any ideas?

  • How do I export photos taken in an Iphone or Ipad Camera app and retain each of the photos location data?

I know this question must have been answered somewhere but I must not be searching for the right terms because I haven't been able to find clear instructions. I am using iPhones (4s) and iPadminis on IOS 8/8.1. I run ITunes on a Windows PC.
I want to be able to export photos which keep their metadata/exif data, including the location data that is acquired when the photo is taken. I have location services turned on for the Camera app. When I view the photos in the Photos app it appears to have kept some location services because it accurately identifies the place the photo was taken. How do I export these photos so they retain that location information?
I have previously exported the photos by using the iphone and ipad as an external hardrive and just copied the files off the devices. When I open these photos in windows explorer they do not appear to have maintained more than the time the photo was taken. They do not show any location information in third party software like Picasa or Geosetter (My previous experience has been exporting images from a non apple camera and then syncing it with a handheld gps to update the exif data). I don't find syncing photos through Itunes very intuitive.
What are my options? What are the solutions? If you have a solution can you please explain a little about what is happening to the files and the metadata/exif data at each stage of the process.
    Many thanks,
    Clare

    Export the project to iTunes
Copy the project file to your computer
    Rename <File>.IMovieMobile as <File>.zip
Extract the contents of the .zip file
Your photos and clips will be in the Assets folder

  • New Profile Layout - Where are photos located in the new layout

Photos are now located at the top of the Profile, to the right of the Display Photo. When viewing another user’s profile (Secondary Profile), this allows you to see who they are much more easily.
When viewing your profile (Primary Profile), an icon will display that reads, “Add Photos”. By clicking this icon, you will be taken to the photo upload page. Other users will not see this icon on your profile. If you have 6 or less photos on your profile, the photo area may seem a bit blank. Please upload more photos to complete your profile. Our research has shown that profiles with 6 or more photos receive two times the amount of messages! Also, we had previously given the option to display how many photos appeared on the profile. Now it is 5, plus the gallery link, with no option to change. This was done to show larger photos and remain consistent across profiles.
Please refer to the below screenshots for reference.

well Tagged, I really like the new clean look you have done well.I do have a couple of things to address, though. 1) Is there any reason why when signing in through yahoo browser, some features dont work. Like when i'm sending a comment to someone, will go through fine, but not if I add my own text, the comment does clear, period. However, if I use google, works fine, I personally do not like google and really use it rarely. So please...please....could you not configure so us people can all use these new features?  2)  MORE GAMES!!  I love being a member here, and 1 of the biggest reasons was because you did have some great activitys we could play. I spent much more time in here because of that. I am active in Pets/ Cafe/ and nothing left...except mafia wars...which back in the beginning I was playing very actively, but then you yanked it and moved it to FB, lol. I do not and never have had a FB account and when you made that move, I lost everything Id worked for to build my game up. Same thing with my Aquarium, it was so beautiful and I used it for relaxation as well as got great Pride with my creation, not to mention my cash Id invested in gold to make it awesome, just Gone?? Farmville was another Id worked very hard on......makes me sad. 3) And this is a big one and really needs to be looked at, to be fair to both sides. RACISM is old and a dying part of history we all need to move past of. I myself am in a interacial relationship, and seems to be getting to be more accepted and therefore should be allowed when sending comments. These pictures that I had tried to post in the past were not offensive sexually, no nudity, just 2 people in love. As soon as I posted, you took them out, and said it was because of any # of reasons in your write  up, and yes racial descretion more or less was included. Yet!!! A few days ago, while I was on a run I got to see 1 picture quite often as that person was also in the run. This was a moving video of a female giving felito to a man and all that was visible to the eye, which was all of it, and really quite offensive. Yet you let members put up whatever, so id like an explanation as to why that it, please, for my family and many interacial couples that are paid members and being looked down on.  SO.... my closing will be Thank you for the opportunity to be on this panel, Im being as honest as 1 can be, you want more members, get some going in here to attract them, GAMES!! I mean geezz, no more slots, and no more tabs, whats that about, lol...Any my good Tagged team, U wanted honest opinions, Im as honest as they come. THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH FOR THIS CHANCE TO SAY OUR PIECE, TAKE CARE.....

  • IPhoto Places map home button does not show all photo locations in one extent

I recently started populating location information for my photos in iPhoto 2011. Some are pre-loaded from my iPhone, but I also manually added locations for other photos/events. Now I have locations assigned both in the U.S. and in Europe, but when I try to view them all in one extent (via the "home" location button on the Places map), the map centers on Europe and I can't even see the U.S. Did I accidentally change a setting for the "home" location on the map? I cannot find a menu that shows options for the "home" location. Is it possible that locations are too far away from each other to see them all at once? If so, is there a way to reset the center of the map so I don't have to pan over from Europe every time I want to look at the U.S. locations (which is 99% of the time)?
Thanks in advance for the help.

I think I figured it out.
It appears that the iPhoto Places map centers on the extent with the greatest number of individually geo-tagged photos. Rather than centering the map to the area in the middle of all your locations (i.e. one location, one "point"), it actually prioritizes locations by how many individually tagged photos are at that location (i.e. one location, many potential "points").
Secondarily it may be a screen size issue. When I falsely tag a bunch of photos in Hawaii, then I can only see HI and mainland U.S. (no Asia or Europe).
I guess Apple assumes you'll want to see most where you have the most tagged photos. This is unfortunate, however, as I tend to tag overseas locations by the entire Event (many photos placed at one location) vs my domestic photos which may or may not have locations. I guess it'll even out over time, but still, it would be nice to be able to set a specific "home" location or viewing extent.

  • Camera App photo location on Win XP?

Hi, I am under the impression that photos that are taken with the iPhone camera app are backed up somewhere on my windows xp machine. Where are they located? There is a folder called iphone photo cache in an itunes folder- however, when using special software to look at them, they are photos Ive placed on the iphone in the past, that arent currently on there- and they are NOT the iphone camera app/camera roll photos.
Please, where are the camera app/camera roll photos backed up to?
    thanks!

    Hi KenGL,
The iPhone backup contains photos taken on with the iPhone.
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 provides more information about iPhone backups.
The iPod photo Cache is created for photos that are synced to the iPhone. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314 provides more information about the iPod photo Cache.

  • Where are my photos located?

Where are my photos from PSE 9 located; in what file can I find them.  I am making a slide show using ProShow Gold 4 and I need to access my photos from PSE and move or copy and paste them into the slide show, but I cannot find what file they are located in.
    Thanks,
    Craig

Your pictures could be anywhere, some might even be on a remote disk. Right-click on a thumbnail in the Organiser and select Properties at the bottom of the Popup Menu. In the popup window that appears the file location will be shown, clicking on the folder will open it in the Explorer.
Alternatively: in the Organiser make a selection of all the photo's you want to include in your slideshow. Then select File => Export and save to a convenient (temporary) location. This way you'll have all the photos in 1 location ready for import into your slideshow.

  • Imported photo location changed -- How to change in iPhoto?

I originally imported photos from the Server: "smb://the-server/..." and it has been changed to "smb://media-server/...". How do I change this in iPhoto so that it knows where to source the photo?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Matt
You're running a Referenced Library, right? Where the files are stored on this volume and the Library is on your Mac?
If so: then when you imported the files iPhoto created an alias to them within the iPhoto Package that points to the actual location of the files.
These aliases will survive the path changing on the same volume. They won't if they point to a different volume.
    So
    1. Change the path to the files back to exactly what it was
    or
    2. Use an app like [FileBuddy|http://www.skytag.com> to resolve the aliases for you. Note that this has worked for some folks and not for others.
    or
    3. Start resolving each alias for each photo one by one.
This is the main reason why I do not recommend using IPhoto in Referenced Mode.

  • Help Needed "Camera not asking to use photo location when switched on"

Hey guys, any help would be greatly appreciated.
When I turn on my camera app it used to ask if I wanted to use the location. Now it does not, I am interested in seeing what I can do with the geotagging feature. I checked my settings, and use location is on. I turned it off, backed out, turned it back on again but nothing changed.
When I open up maps and click the little round "find me" button, it works great.
Any ideas on what I can do to get my camera app working again? Thanks in advance.

If Location Services is ON, the geotagging data should be stored with the pics. The iPhone Photos app cannot display that information - you'd need to use a 3rd party app or upload the photo to a photo sharing website that supports geotagging data.
If you want to see that 'use location' request from the Camera app, go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset Location Warnings.

  • FYI. IOS 5.1 photo location tip

    Hey,
Just discovered that after the IOS 5.1 update my iPhone 4s no longer attached a GPS location to any photos taken. The fix is simple. You have to start the carmera app from the home screen icon to get it to ask you to use locations in photos. The lock screen short cut doesn't ask. I have been using that only to access the camera. I dod a clean restore as a new phone when I upgraded because I was having huge battery dran after the Delta update. Battery life is very much better.
So remember, if you do a restore as new phone, acces the camera app at least once from the home screen to be su

if you have nothing useful to add, why bother? I'm trying to find a solution to a problem that I KNOW many, many other people are experiencing...
I don't really care much if Apple reads this, I'm just trying to find a solution. Geez.
If you genuinely were just looking for other users help to fix a problem, and weren't expecting Apple to read or respond you wouldn't have titleled this thread as you did.  You wouldn't have said: "I can't imagine this hasn't been noticed by Apple, but the lack of updates and some sort of status to their customers is incredibly irritating. When will this be fixed?" It is YOU who are trolling by deliberately posting inflamatory and misleading statements.
The probolem is clearly in YOUR DEVICE.  Maybe there is a a hardware issue.  However, the other 99.999+% don't have the issue - and we're not bilind, oblivious idiots either.
