Photo loss from a project when creating a smart album

Running Aperture 3.4.3 on iMac with OS X 10.7.5. Photos stored on internal drive. After creating two smart albums based on a date range, one with keywords and one with ratings, some, but not all, of the photos that appeared in the smart albums disappeared from the original projects (each project contains photos from a single day). One of the original projects still notes 454 photos under its thumbnail, but when opened only displays 308 photos. The project path of the photos in the smart album still references the correct project. I tried deleting the smart album but the photos did not immediately reappear in the correct project so I undid the delete. I tried closing and reopening Aperture. I tried system restart. No luck. Reading the Aperture help/manual suggests that the photos should remain in the original project.

First: Make sure the Browser Filter is set to "Showing All" (or "Unrated or Better") when the Project is selected.

You do not need to move your cursor much when pressing the mouse button to cause the tab to tear-off/tear-away into a new tab. No "sensitivity" setting that I am aware of. The tab in the new window can be dragged back to the original window.

I have no intention of ever using Photos, in fact, having to abandon Aperture takes me one step close to moving back to Windows, but I digress.

I am still seeing the option Image Capture, like shown in the screenshot that Rysz posted. But it is another example of the hide-and-seek Apple likes to play with us.
The option has to be set for each device individually. With the device connected to USB, you have to click the tiny disclosure triangle in the lower left corner of the sidebar to reveal the option.
I was perfectly happy with the program I paid for (Aperture), and now to maintain the functionality I have to pay for another application (LightRoom) to get the functionality that I paid for in Aperture.
Aperture 3.6 is working well with Yosemite. I will use it, as long as I have a Mac, that will run Yosemite or a compatible system.
Have you looked at Capture One? It looks much more similar to Aperture than Lightroom.

Iphoto-I inadvertantly created a smart album. It has captured all recent photos in it I want to delete it but need to know if this will delete the same photos in their albums?

Yes you can delete the Smaert Album. It will not delete the photos.

PSE9/Win 7: Can I create a Smart Album of all images that Don't have a certain tag?

Using PSE9 on Windows 7.
I'd like to create a Smart Album that contains all of the images that don't have a particular tag.
When I click on Create New Smart Album the dialog box allows me to select 'Keyword Tags'.
But the next item is 'Include'. Then I can select that tags I want.
I basically want the Include to be 'Exclude'.
Any way to do something like that?

You could try this.
1) Show all photos
2) Check the Keyword Tag that you are interested in
3) Under Options Select Hide best match results & Show results that do not match (i.e. reverse the last two conditions).

4) Now use the top option Save Search Criteria As Smart Album and give it a name
That seems to remember the reversed conditions as well as the tag.

IPhoto 8.1.2 can you create a smart album with only one face

I'm using iPhoto 8.1.2 and have about 23k photos in the library. I have identified 32 key faces, and would now like to create some smart albums that contain only the face or faces that I want and to exclude all the others. S for example a smart album that has only my son.
I tried using the doesn't contain this face, but you can only have around 10 filters/critiria in a smart album.
any suggestions are appriciated

You can't really, because you can't exclude enough of the faces.
I would keyword the preferred images as well, so finding the face and the keyword would find the pics of the person alone.

How do I create a smart album that contains all pictures with no keywords?

I have many pictures which currently don't have any keywords at all. Now I want to tag these pictures with keywords. How can I create a smart album for those pictures without any keywords? So that I can then work just on these pictures...
Note that I don't want to find pictures that don't have a specific keyword. I want to find all those pictures which have none keyword at all.

Well, there's a way but it's not great...
Start with a smart album at whatever level you want to keyword everything under. Set to search where "rating is greater than or equal to unrated".
Select all images, and apply a keyword like "NeedsKeyword". Yes, even the one with keywords already.
Now change the smart folder - use the "+" menu on the upper right corner of the query box to add an "IPTC" search. In that row use the dropdown by IPTC to find "keywords", then set the one next to it to "is", then type "NeedsKeyword" (or whatever you used) into the text box. Now go up to the top of the query box and change the "Match" dropdown to be "all" instead of "Any".
What we've done here is find all images where the only keyword is "NeedsKeyword", all the ones you've done with keywords already will not appear.
Now, copy these images into an Album (not smart album) for tagging - this is because as soon as you tag an image it will vanish and you may wish to apply more than one tags).
After you are done tagging, you want to remove the tag - this is trickier than you might think, as you need to remove it from images tagged before in addition to the images in the Album you just made.
First, change your smart folder to once again find all images by unchecking the IPTC keyword search. Now you'll see all images - but you're not done yet! You cannot batch undo a keyword in a smart folder, even though you can batch add. Select all of the images and drag into the Album you were using to keyword. Inside an Album the keyword metadata inspector shows only common keywords, NeedsKeyword should be one of them - remove it and it will be gone, and all your images tagged. Now you can remove the Album and the Smart Album you created.
Harder than it needs to be, I'd say - I've submitted feedback you need some way to search for untagged images. Heck, it may already be in 1.1! Or Joe might know of an easier way that has eluded me.

Create New Project and put photo in from another project folder

This is what I thought was going to be a relative task.
Move a batch of photos from one project folder into another new empty one.
I can highlight and select the photos in question and select Edit and Copy.
Go to new project folder,but No Paste function available.
I then see the New From Selection in the menu bar....but no New Project.
Anyone help me out here?

Ummm OK, tried that and yes it does work, but when you have a large list of projects, it means having to drag a long way down the list, while it is scrolling.
Bit inconvenient, but if it is the only way. Shame this does not have keyboard shortcut like so much of the Apple stuff
Will probably have to name a project similar to the one I want to copy from in the future, then rename it again afterwards.

How do I 'remove' a dimension from a cube when creating a crosstab?

I have a CUBE with 9 dimensions and one measure, This is based of a fact table that has a Materialized View with just 4 dimensions.
In JDeveloper I used the wizard to create a new crosstab using just the four dimensions that exist in the MV (removing the others).
....eventually the page was generated but it takes minutes....
Q. Is there a way to 'DROP' a dimension from JDeveloper crosstab when you query a CUBE?
[It looks like Oracle is internally using all 9 dimensions when some are "Hidden" or not required!]
The only solution I have found is to create an extra CUBE using just the 4 dimensions (this works within couple of seconds)! But I will end up with 6 CUBES holding different dimensions combination, this feels wrong?
Q2. Is it bad practice to have multiple CUBES all based on one fact table, just to improve performace?

i think this question is more for the technical teams at the olap forum ;)
nevertheless: if you have a cube defined with 9 dimensions,all of them are necessary for retrieving the data, "hiding" some of them is possible by the means of "hidden dimensions"
nevertheless you have to specify which dimension, value gets substitued for those dimensions: usually it is a TOTAL level.
otherwise your results may be misleading or wrong, so specifying a dimension value for those hidden dimensions is the only choice to be consistent with the OLAP data model
btw: you can easily use a materialized view in this environment as well, when using the concept of a TOTAL dimension value

I'm not sure I'm reading your requirements correctly - do you want the process to move on as soon as anyone responds to it, or move on once everyone has responded to it?
In the first case, it sounds like what you really need is a notification activity, which requires a response, sent to the role (or create an adhoc role which is assigned to everyone assigned to role 1 and role 2). As soon as one person responds to it, the notification is closed and the process moves on.
In the second case, you should do the same but expand the roles. You will then need to write a post notification function to tally the votes and determine when to move on - have a look at the standard voting activity for an example of how to do it.

Strange messages from SAP GTS when creating purchase orders (POs)

Hello gurus,
we use SAP GTS to check against sanctioned party lists (SPLs) only. We already transferred all our master data to GTS and our partners were checked okay. Now we just activated the document check in our test system. The system produces two different messages we do not quite understand:
1. When creating a purchase order with an item without material master, the system gives the message:
Legal Control: Custs Prod. Mast. Required
Material
Obviously GTS tries to find a matching material master, which naturally fails. My question is: Can I disable this check somewhere? In our case it is not important what the material is, we just want to check if our vendor is on some SPL.
2. In some POs there is the message
Legal Control: Partn. Function Mapping not Maintained
Partner Function: DA
I think I understand what the system is trying to say, but fact is, only one partner function is used in that order (VN). We do not even have a partner function u201CDAu201D in our ERPu2026
At least in the first case, the PO is not checked against the SPL by SAP GTS, which means we would not detect if we ordered from someone on the SPL. This is not acceptable.
Any ideas on any of those messages?

Commitments in Project when creating SC

When creating a PR i ECC I can see the commitments on my project. But when creating a SC in SRM no commitments are shown on the project i ECC.
Is that standard in ECS?
What can I do?

Why do I have all the photos streamed from my desktop library in a photostream album in my desktop library as well

I've just noticed that all the photos that are in my main iPhoto library are now also in the Photo Stream album. Have they been streamed to my devices and then streamed back? Or does iPhoto set up a separate album for photos to be streamed?

Because you have this checked in iPhoto's Photo Stream preferences:
Uncheck that checkbox. Go into your Photo Stream in iPhoto, select the photos you don't want on your mobile devices, do a Control (right) - click and select Delete from Photo Stream from the contextual menu:
