Photo - Lost Slideshow

Last import of photos and appeared in Photos (and still does). I made a slideshow and have opened it numerous times. Suddenly I go to view it again in Photos and it's gone! Other slideshows there but not the latest one.
Using latest 10.10.3 and latest updates on MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.

The following is a way to get a view of albums / iPhoto Events (which were converted to albums in the conversion):
Moments in Photo are the new Events, i.e. groupings of photos sorted by date taken.
When the iPhoto Library was first migrated to Photos there was a folder created in the sidebar titled iPhoto Events and all migrated iPhoto Events (which are now Moments) are represented by an album in that folder. To open the sidebar if it's not already open use the Option+Command+S key combination.
There's a way to simulate events in Photos and get a window of all albums like in the Events mode of iPhoto.
When new photos are imported into the Photos library go to the Last Import smart album, select all the photos and use the File ➙ New Album menu option or use the key combination Command+N.  Name it as desired.  It will appear just above the iPhoto Events folder where you can drag it into the iPhoto Events folder
When you click on the iPhoto Events folder you'll get a simulated iPhoto Events window.
The downside to the simulation is that the Album/Events can only be sorted automatically by Title. But they can also be sorted manually, either in the sidebar or in the folder's window at the right.
Ask Apple for more sorting options in Photos as well a replace the features of iPhoto that were removed via https://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html.

    iPhoto09 v 8.1.2
Double clicking on thumbnail results in glimpse of photo before changing to  !  with a black background.
    No photo, no slideshow.
(Preferences set to magnify with double click)

That indicates that the iPhoto database has lost the connection to the high resolution photo - if you have not made any changes to the library (like cleaning uyp, deleting using thrid party software or form the all images list) then rebuilding will probably resolve it - Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto database

  • Limited to 99 photos in slideshow

I am running idvd 6 wiith current updates, slideshow of about 280 was burned to dvd and will play completely in the computer but will stop at slide 99 when played in dvd player.
Another issue is the photos lost sharpness when viewed on computer in the slideshow. Any suggestions?

The 99 slide limitation should go away with this version of idvd.
It's due to a limitation of the DVD standard and can't be 'fixed' by Apple.
Slides in a slideshow are treated as 'Chapters' and a slideshow is a 'Track'. The standard limits a 'Track' to 99 'Chapters'.
Starting with iDVD 6, Apple created something of a 'hack' that links together several 'Tracks' making it possible to create slideshows of more than 99 images. HOWEVER, many/most set top DVD players don't like the 'hack' and will stop/pause/drop audio after 99 images.

  • ATV doesn't show all photos in slideshow

My ATV3 doesn't show all my photos in slideshow. It seems to repeat the same, say 50, over and over, even though I have about 400 in the folder on my windows7 PC.
    Whats the fix?
    Thanks
    Andy

For the avoidance of doubt are you talking about the screensaver or the slideshows.
Slideshows should show all your photos, but screensavers will not. Screensavers need to save the photos to the Apple TVs flash storage, the Apple TV doesn't have a lot of this and so limits the number of photos it uses.

  • After Archive and Install, music and photos lost

    Hello, I installed Leopard yesterday on my Imac desktop and it went fine, but then somehow it locked me out of the hard drive, and then...the blue screen. I put the orginal Tiger disk back in and re-installed the previous software, opting for 'archive and install'. It worked but my question is this;
Within the previous system folder, my music and photos are still missing. All I see is the iphoto icon which opens to a completely empty program. (Yet the info on this Icon says it is a 1 gb in there). Are my photos lost, really? And if not, how may I retrieve them? Thanks in advance.

You may find it in the Previous System Folder created during an Archive and Install that contains your old system. Assuming you have no need for its contents you can delete the PSF and recover the disk space.
Of course if the hard drive is corrupted then you may have performed an Archive and Install on a corrupted drive which will result in a corrupted installation. Consider doing the following:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

  • Photos in slideshow "smear"

I'm using iPhoto '09 on 2 machines.  On my G4 PPC (non-Intel) running OSX 10.5.8 photos in slideshow mode (not in albums, or library) show a "smear" at the edges.  (This smear seems to fill in the black band at picture edges.)  This crazy phenomenon does not appear on my iBook with the same iPhoto version and same OSX.  Also I cannot go to turn music off unless I'm in Ken Burns mode!!!
    Any ideas?

    Dupont 24:
iPhoto has no limits to the number of photos a user can have in a slideshow nor in the number of photos you can at at one time. If the slideshow is already created, just select all the photos you want in the main library or in an album and drag onto the slideshow icon in the Source pane.

  • Export photos FROM slideshow?

Can I create an album FROM a slideshow?
I created Album A (tons of photos) and slideshow A. I duplicated slideshow A and deleted all the photos I didn't want to include, that became slideshow B. Now I need to export the photos from slideshow B into a format I can burn to disc - photos, NOT the slideshow itself. Can I do this without having to recreate the wheel, and have to pick out the photos I want one by one in a new album? Thanks!

There is an easy way to keyword those photos so you can group them for exporting to the desktop.
1 - in the slideshow double click on the first photo to bring up the edit window.
2 - type Command+K to bring up the keyword pane
3 - assign a unique keyword, "xxxx", created for this process to the photo.
4 - hit the forward arrow key on the keyboard.
5 - assign the keyword to the next photo. Repeat until all photos have been keyworded.
6 - create a smart album: keyword is "xxxx".
7 - export the photos from the smart album.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • After connect with Itunes,  choosing restore, then all the photos lost.

I bought a New Iphone5 and using it to took some photos.
then I connect with Itunes which provide me two options, I choosed the retore. after restore, all the photo lost. what can i do.

It can not do that all by itself.
When you plugged it in, iTunes said 'Oh goody! You got a new phone! Would you like to make it just like your old phone?'...
    You explicitly said 'Yes'.
    You can't undo that.
No backup of the current state of the new phone was made. It was wiped and the last backup of your old phone was restored to it.
Anything you had on the new phone is gone.

  • IPad Keyboard dock:  Cant jump picture/images in Photos or Slideshows

    Hi everyone,
I bought the keyboard dock accessory for my ipad.
I mean the keyboard onto which you can dock your ipad straight away.
Some of the keys in the top row of the keyboard are, according to the manual, supposed to:
"Fast-forward, or go to the next song, movie, image or slide"
"Play or pause songs, movies or slideshows"
Yet, I cannot seem to do any of the following. Is it normal?:
    - when in Photos, cant go from one image to the next by pressing any of these keys
    - when in Photos during Slideshow, cant pause the slideshow
The only function of these set of keys which works in my case, is in Youtube. They allow to pause the video, and also skip from one tube video to the next in the list.
    Any help needed!

    Hi Tasilisa,
I connected my iPad to my Keyboard dock to see what it would do.
Just once I got the keys working during a slide show. In all other cases it just controlled the "iPod App" during the slide show.
When I discover the trick, I will let you know.

  • How can you restore photos lost during software update on iTunes?

How do you restore or even find photos lost during software update of iphone 4 on iTunes?

Why did you not back it up before performing the update? Did you perform the update on a computer other than the one you normally sync with?
As already stated, if you didn't back it up, the data is now gone.

  • 8 months of photos lost --  PLEASE help

Last night when I opened up iPhoto, all my photos since 10/30/2006 are gone. I read to try deleting the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file, but this didn't work.
Where could these pictures have gone? And why just this chunk of pics after 10/30/2006?. Please help, as there are a LOT of shots than were taken from Nov 2006 to present.
P.S. I just realized this is being posted in the iPhoto 6 forum. I am using iPhoto 5 though...

    rmcfall:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. No, I don't think you've lost your image files. Look inside the iPhoto Library/Originals folder and you should find them all in subfolders representing the rolls in the library.
Since the rebuild didn't restore the library you'll have to create a new library and import the original files from the old one as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the rolls from the original.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same rolls as the original library. However dates on the rolls may be different but can be edited as you would the roll title.
Once this is completed you can delete the Originals folder from the desktop and the iPhoto Llibrary folder. If desired, you can keep the older library folder to try other fixes on it.
In the future I recommend you make a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto file after each import and after doing a lot of editing and organizing in the library. Then if you experience a similar crash all you need to do is replace the damaged database file with the backup copy and you'll be back to the same place in the library as when you make the backup. See the tip at the end of my signature.

  • IPhoto Upgrade - Photos Lost

I've read threads regarding lost photos when upgrading to iPhoto '11, but do not see a fix that I understand.
My photos appear to be gone, although their titles are still there. I've tried to repair/import them, but the app hangs at the end.
What can be done? Thanks for simple instructions. :-)

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
iPhoto 8 (09) and earlier- run the options indicated
iPhoto 9 (11) and later- run  Option #4 to rebuild the database
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager (iPhoto 8 or earlier or IPhoto 11 and later) and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the
File ➙ Rebuild Library (iPhoto 8 or earlier)
    or
Library ➙ Rebuild Library (iPhoto 9 or later)
menu option to rebuild the library.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
