Photo merge blurry

I just install Adobe Photo Shop Elements 13 for the sole purpose of dealing with HDR and other touch up issues to pictures. Well I perform a photo merge of a 3 sequence photos with different exposure, in the hope of creating a single image (Note- I also have Elements 10 witch works fine but I figure that version 13 will do a better job) to my surprise it does not work correctly.
The result is a blurry picture like the picture is shifty this product is not working. This is a piece of Sh.... product that something that works on 10 doesn't even work on 13.
These are the steps I did to deal with the HDR photos. Choose all 3 pictures from album, -Enhance - Photomerge - Photomerge Exposure blurry result about a 1/4 "  off.
Any ideas other can cancel order.

That isn't HDR, just FYI. But it's always been better at merging a single photo exposed different ways than merging bracketed shots. If that was your main reason for purchasing PSE I would suggest that you cancel the order, if possible, and invest in a true HDR program instead.

  • PhotoShop cs6, I can't find Photo Merge to make a Panorama. I looked at Library Prefrences to restore but there isn't an AdobePhotoshop there, help!

Photo Merge is missing in my cs6. I wanted to make a Panorama but can't locate it, where should I look?

It should be under File>Automate>Photomerge in photoshop cs6.
Which operating system are you using?

That means you probably have 3GB of RAM installed.  A 90% memory allowance to Photoshopunder these circumstances is clearly excessive.  Try reducing it to 70% or less.

Make sure the EXTERNAL drive is designated as the PRIMARY scratch disk drive.  You don't have much left on your boot volume; how large is it in total?  Once a drive, any drive, gets to be 70% or so full, you're courting trouble.

  • Photo merge missing in CS5

I have Photoshop CS5 and am running it on a Mac platform that is current as of 2014-07-11. When i select file / automate, there is not photo merge. Where did it go?
    Best regards,
    PNeug

Which version of mac os x are you using?
I don't think it should make any difference, but are you running cs5 in 64 or 32 bit mode?
Does using one mode or the other make any difference?
If you go to /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Presets/Scripts, do you see a Photomerge.jsx and a Stack Scripts Only folder?
At the bottom of the File>Automate menu does it say Show All Menu Items?
Could you post a screenshot of the File>Automate menu in photoshop cs5?

  • Does lightroom have photo merge or do you need full photoshop?

does lightroom have photo merge or do you need full photoshop?

You're welcome. If you have Photoshop or Photoshop Elements installed, when you right-click on an image in Lightroom and choose to edit in one of those programs, one of the options is to merge to a panorama using that program. If you don't have program installed that will do that the option will not appear.

  • Can photo merge be turned off?

When I have two or more photos open and I want to move them around, everytime I drag one over the other it becomes transparent. This transparency seems to happen once I drag the photo over the ruler but I could be wrong. Once I release the mouse button the two merge into one photo. I believe this has something to do with the photo merge feature. Can I turn this off?

If you have the move tool (1st icon) as the cursor than can happen.  But when it does the photos do not move the cursor changes to a +, and if you release the mouse button it will become a layer.
You also may be refering to the situation where if you move the photos around and they go over the top of one another they "tab" together.  If that is the case look at the tab and grab in and drag it back to the workspace.

  • HDR Photo Merge deghosting

When using Lightroom's HDR Photo Merge, is there any way of zooming in to 100%, to view the effect that deghosting is having on the HDR image ?.

Slightly different issue, but wondered if you might have feedback on a ghosting issue I'm seeing. I thought I'd quickly experiment with HDR merge as a way to remove ghosts as opposed to directly creating an HDR composite. That is, all exposures (I tried the merge with two and also three exposures) were identical (focus, ISO, ap, speed) and I was hoping that the merged result would simply remove the couple obvious ghosts (two people in completely different areas of the frame and then also slightly moving clouds). However, none of the de-ghosting options were able to completely eliminate these ghosts.
If the images are all same exposure (i.e. identical) I'm surprised the LR Merge to HDR didn't fail with an error message. I just tried LR Mege to HDR with three copies of the same file renamed (1, 2, 3) and there was no error message! Clearly it's failing to deghost the "same exposure" image files, but it's not telling you either!
I just tested PS HDR Pro with the three "same exposure" images and got this popup. Unless you assign a different EV to each image the OK button is disabled. LR Merge to HDR is simply playing dumb and goes right ahead and then does nothing!
PS image stacks with layer masks is what you need to deghost these image files. I doubt this can be done fully "automatically." There has to be human intervention to decide what's a ghost and what's not.

  • Photo Merge HDR and camera vibrations

I use a Manfrotto 055X Pro tripod with a Manfrotto 332RC2 head, when mirror lock is utilized, this set-up produces excellent results. There is however a slight vibration when the mirror is raised, then again after the image has been captured. A bracketed set of images therefore, do not align perfectly. The auto align option in Lightroom CC's Photo Merge HDR feature, copes well with this. I can not help, but wonder, if a perfectly aligned set of RAW images would produced superior HDR images.
Do you guy's, who use more expensive (and presumably superior) tripods and heads find that your bracketed images align perfectly or do you still use Photo Merge HDR's auto align option ?.

    Rafael Aviles wrote:
If you use mirror lock, there should be no effect on the shot from the vibrations that occur when mirror is raised, just make sure you wait long enough for them to dissipate. And, how would the mirror vibrations AFTER the image has been captured affect the shot?
Another thing to check: make sure the Vibration reduction (VR) or Image Stabilization (IS) is turned OFF if you have the camera on the tripod. (Unless your lens has a setting for VR or IS while on a tripod, that is.)
I think it's the IS, possibly in combination with uneven surfaces (mostly beaches), that's causing the slight image misalignments.
I captured a series of sunrise images, from a solid surface this morning (UK time), with the IS turned off.  They aligned perfectly, the only image that didn't align was captured from the beach.
Thanks for your help. I've gone back through my image catalogue and discovered that the vast majority of my bracketed images do align.  I've put those that don't, down to either forgetting to turn off IS, or the surface they were taken from.

  • Photo merge panorama import file size?

Is it necessary to convert files to jpeg when doing a photo merge panorama. I keep getting to told to convert to 8 bit from 16 bit and am not sure how to do that.

Which version of photoshop elements and operating system are you using?
If these are camera raw files, then most likely the camera raw converter is set to open the files as 16 bits/channel in photoshop elements.
You can change that by opening a camera raw file and then at the bottom of the camera raw dialog set the Depth to 8 Bits/Channel and then press Done.
Try your pano again and see if that made a difference.

  • Error when trying to do Photo Merge

I have Photoshop CS4 and tried to use the Photo Merge feature (File > Automate > Photo Merge...). When I select it I get the following error box.
I had used this feature in CS3 and it works great. I tried logging out and also restarting my Mac. Neither helped.
Mac OS X 10.5.6, Intel 2 Bhz Core 2 Duo iMac, 2.5 GB RAM.
    Anyone?

CS3 and CS4 are the apps that really like to be in the default install place which is the applications folder. CS2 and before wern't picky at all.
You need to uninstall the apps first then reinstall. if they won't uninstall because they are not in the system drive application folder you may need to use the CS3 and the CS4 CleanScript to remove all traces of the applications.

  • Photos look blurry only when using Slideshow

When I select an iPhoto album to view as a slideshow the photos appear blurry during the slideshow. When not using slideshow, when I open individual photos in iPhoto6 they appear blurred for maybe 2 seconds before snapping into sharp. The thumbnails are fine (sharp). But the photos stayed blurred in Slideshow changing from one blurred photo to the next - in other words useless. The photos are jpgs. I have no problems with any blur at all in Photoshop CS2. I assume I have to change some setting but I can't find any reference to this in iPhoto help. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Dave,
On both my G4 and G5, I've encountered the same problem from time to time and here's the workaround that fixed it for me:
Apply a filter to the images. I use the 3-Way Color Corrector since many of the photos could stand a little tweaking for TV anyway. Render them and they should retain their original sharpness.
I have no idea what causes the problem, why it only affects some of the images and not all of them, nor do I know why re-rendering them after applying a filter works ... but it does for me.
    -DH
ps: another symptom that this fix takes care of is when you see a small shift (1 or 2 pixels) in the image's position as it comes out of a transition.

  • Photos Look blurry in the canvas when movie plays....CLEAR when I pause???

I am using BMP scanned picture files here, so first off I wanted to know if this is at all contributing to the problem?
I don't understand why the photo is blurrier when the movie plays, then gets clearer and more defined when i stop or pause the movie in the time line in the canvas????
Do i need a filter applied or is there something else i don't know about?
    Thanks in advance guys.
    -Mike

This problem used to dog me also when I first started on FCP.....but the moves on photos really do look crisp and smooth....
One way to check the quality of the phots (without an external monitor) is to export a portion of you sequence that has a photo in it as a quicktime movie. Then open and play that quicktime in the quicktime viewer.....you'll be able to see the quality and smoothness of the final product....
(Basically, when you see the quality of the photo in your fcp sequence (as it's paused), that's the quality you'll see once you export it and burn it to a dvd...)
    Enjoy.
