Photo Mosaic Software

I need to create a photo mosaic for the back wall of a trade show exhibit. I see dozens of programs that will do this. What is the "best" or "most used by professionals" or "most flexible." (Hopefully these all point to the same sotftware.) One thing I know I want is the ability of the software to create either uniform or different size cells. It can be a Photoshop plug-in or a standalone program. I don't care if it's free or commercial. Suggestions?

Hey,
I really like this (free) application:

Sorry, I had a different idea of "mosaic"
If you want to create something like a collage or a puzzle iPhoto is not the right application.
Unfortunately you hav to use a seperate application for this. I'm pretty sure you will find a matching App in the App-Store.
Eventually this may help -> https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3165373?start=0&tstart=0

  • A way to have a Photo Mosaic?

    Hi,
Many thanks in advance for your attention.
Does anyone know of a way - either within iWeb or in some software - that one can create a Photo Mosaic?
For example, instead of one photo on the Home Page, a mosiac of photos?
    Thanks,
    - Ross

You will need to use a 3rd party editor that can handle multiple layers or objects in one canvas. Since you only want 8 photos in the collage you can use OmniGraffle in it's free/demo mode (maximum 10 items per project) and create any type of collage you'd like. Once created you can export as a jpg and import into iPhoto. I used it to create this poster size, 20 x 30, collage with 96 photos. It's an very powerful application.

  • Will iPhoto 5.0.4 Do Photo Mosaics?

I've tried to run the word mosaic in the help directory but it won't return any data. Is this something I can do with the existing software (or the new version w/ iLife) or do I need to get some after-market software? If the latter, any recommendations?
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi gasah,
You will need third party software. Can you tell me exactly what you mean by Photo Mosaic.
These are photo mosaics done with photos from my iPhoto Library
    http://homepage.mac.com/loridilo/.Public/puzzle.jpg
they were done using a screensaver app called Image-Puzzle
    http://www.image-puzzle.com/Image%20Puzzle/About.html
There is another application called MacOSaiX

  • I am looking for a good photo editing software, only editing, not sharing etc

any recommendation for a good photo editing software for starters, only to enhance picture, play arounf with colours in black and white background etc.

In order of price here are some suggestions:
    Seashore (free)
    The Gimp (free)
    Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
    Acorn ($50 approx)
    Pixelmator ($50 approx)
    Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • Photos does not support external editing like iPhoto. Is there likely to be an upgrade to change this or will I abandon Photos for software that does support editing in Photoshop?

iPhoto does work and there is an upgrade:
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • Video clips from phone will not work in photo show software

I have some video clips from my phone, but they won't transfer to my photo show software. Will upgrading to Quicktime Pro help?

The Pro upgrade merely enables features found in the standard install of QuickTime.
If the file opens and plays properly in QuickTime the Pro upgrade allows you to export to other formats.

  • I currently have iPhoto on my new 27" 17, iMac. What is the best photo editing software. I have photo shop elements on my previous mac which I liked many features.

I currently have an imac 27", i7.  I have iphoto on this computer. What is the best photo editing software to purchase or download?
On my previouw mac I had Photo Shop Elenemts and Photoshop CS3. Both of the later had features that I liked.
I am an amatuer family photographer; What is the best photo editing software. I do not think I need the power and confusion of full version photoshop.

I take it you are looking for replacements for the apps you used on a previous Mac?
I do not have Photoshop Elements, so I do not know about compatibility. But this site will tell you:
    http://roaringapps.com
Photoshop CS3 does run in OS 10.9.1. (I use it just about everyday.) You do not have to give it up.
And there is Gimp, which is free and powerful.

  • Adobe Flex/AIR Photo Booth Software

    Hi,
I hope everyone is doing well.
Is it possible to build a Photo Booth software like
    http://www.photoboof.com/
    http://sparkbooth.com/features/
    etc. using Adobe Flex/AIR ?
I know that we can build desktop applications using Flex/AIR. But I have a very little experience in building desktop applications. Most of the times I had worked on web applications. The Photo Booth software demands to detect digital camera connected to computer/Laptop and then work on the basis of what camera captures. It is like creating a web application that works with media server and
use computer/laptop webcam. Please guide me how can I start or plan for this software.
    Regards
    Varun

From What I've found.. it seems 3ivx or Perian could cause this problem. A friend had this issue and deleted 3ivx and it fixed his crashes. Alternatively, some folks are reporting that turning off 32-bit mode (Get Info) for Photobooth has also fixed, although this was already turned off in my friend's case. Or if you have iGlasses installed.

If you've set up your site definition properly in
    Dreamweaver, you should
be able to copy the table in design view from home.html and
    paste into
gallery/index.php and DW will correct the paths
    automatically. It /might/
even copy the relavent JavaScript over (I don't have DW on
    this computer to
    test that).
But to answer your question, any path to the images must
    point to the site
root (where your images are stored). The links will likely
    need to point
there as well. For example, the Home button in your table
    gets its image
    from:
    src="Home Navigation Home01.png"
In order for that to work from pages in the gallery folder,
    it will need to
be linked with either a site root relative, or a simple
    relative path:
    src="/Home Navigation Home01.png"
The above example tells the server to look for the image in
    the site's root
    folder.
    src="../Home Navigation Home01.png"
This example tells the server to get the image from one
    folder up from the
    current folder.
Likewise for the links. ie: href="Home.html" would become
    either
    href="/Home.html" or href="../Home.html"
    href="phpBB3/index.php" could become href="/phpBB3/index.php"
    or even
    href="/phpBB3/"

  • Photo Gallery Software for Mac OS X Server

I'm porting my Linux server infrastructure over to Mac OS X Server. I've successfully moved over my DNS, Mail and most of my web sites to Mac without a problem. However, the last website is causing me a bit of pain. In Linux I was using Gallery 2 (http://gallery.menalto.com/), but I'm not sure how to get this to work on Mac OS X. In particular there are a bunch of dependencies that I'm not sure exist in Mac (ffmpeg, etc.)
    * Is there an alternative photo gallery software that people use which may install/work better on the Mac? We have wiki and blog services in the Web Server Admin pane, but I don't see a photo gallery service.
    * Has anybody had success in using gallery2 over to the Mac? What dependencies were needed and how did you find them?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi
For me it has to be RumpusFTP Server:
    http://www.maxum.com/Rumpus/
It has a secure web interface - no need to open ports 20, 21. No need for dedicated FTP client software for uploading and downloading. Supports the most commonly used browsers. Multi-platform support and can be installed on a standard client OS.

Where did you come up with the $700 figure?
Photography plan - $9.99/month or $119/year - Creative Cloud Photography plan : Adobe Creative Cloud
    Single App - $19.99/month
Complete plan - $49.99/month or $599/yr - Creative Cloud free trial & plans : Adobe Creative Cloud
Ah - If you wish to cancel early yeah $74.99 which would total for the year at $899.88. But that final total would be if you canceled in the 12th month but if you plan on keeping it that long might as well go for the annual contract. Then cancel at the end of the term limit if you need to.
If you are not sure what to get, Either Elements as was suggested by Peru Bob or the photography plan.

  • The Best Photo Organizing Software

Although this is probably in the wrong forum category, I couldn't find anywhere else to go so here's my problem:
I would imagine this has been posted many times, so if anyone knows a link to a previous forum that would be great as well.
Otherwise, I am looking for a really good photo organizing software. The problem is, that it needs to do a few things:
    1. It has to be Mac AND pc compatible so that my entire family will be able use it.
    2. The main factor is that it needs to organize my photos. I have them strewn across multiple computers and different folders and subfolders and need to organize them into one place.
    3. Preferably it needs to be able to access an external hard drive over a LAN network.
    4. I need some help here as well. What do most people do to their photos when the organize them. I suppose they add keywords, descriptions, location, the people in the photo etc. If you anything else I'm missing that would be awesome. The organizer needs to be able to this as well. And preferably, that this stuff is universal across platforms and operating systems.
    5. Now this isn't 100% necessary, but it would be nice if it had the feature to search across the entire computer for photos stored wherever they may be.
I know its a lot of stuff but if anyone knows of one, that would be great!
